Clarion Hotel® Draken goes large when it comes to cinematic expression! For decades, Draken was a centre for festivals.

Now it lives on in a new guise as a house of experiences. Right in the heart of the 34-storey building the culturally significant Draken cinema, which has been serving locals and visitors to the city since 1956, has been revived as a popular attraction!On the ground floor you can experience a unique dining concept at Heurlins, combining the best of both worlds.

Staff are really polite and welcoming. Rooms are compact and weren’t properly cleaned during stay eg used tea bags left and not cleared. Breakfast is excellent although very crowded. Good location and lovely restaurant and bar within hotel. Quite expensive and probably better value in other hotels in area.

The hotel is nice and well located . The staff are very friendly. There was quite alot of construction noise in the area but I understand this is out of the hotels control. The bars downstairs were not always open. We were told we could take a drink from the downstairs bar to our room as it was closing . However when I tried to take a drink from the rooftop bar to our room I was told it was not allowed which was a bit confusing.

I would definitely stay here again if I was visiting Gothenburg

Comfy room with good views across Gothenburg, powerful shower. Centrally located for easy access to sights, restaurants and bars. Rooftop bar was also quite vibey for a Saturday night. We did book a spa session as well which was actually pretty busy and so, not super relaxing (and you paid extra for this). The breakfast is good but was also super busy - they try and help this by staggering the times but it seemed like too many people. Only other minor inconvenience was that the Chromecast didn't work.

This is a beautiful opulent hotel but it is huge and more suited to conferences than leisure breaks. Lack of storage space in hotel room was a big minus - there is one small cupboard containing fridge, coffee machine, kettle, and ironing board, with a single rail above for hanging clothes as long as they're not too long to dangle into the coffee machine. Useless for more than one night - we lived out of suitcases. It wasn't clear from Expedia that there is no use of the spa included in the price and that it is an extra 295SEK per person for a 2 hour slot which has to be booked. The spa is relaxing and has good ambience but the facilities are extremely limited (hot sauna good, cold sauna hopeless, experience showers limited to a bucket of not very cold water, pools have no seating or bubbles - just large pools of warm shallow water). Staff were professional and friendly, but housekeeping extremely erratic with poor communication meaning that small problems became big and annoying.

This is a brilliant hotel in a convenient location in Gothenberg. We didn’t realise we had breakfast included, as were so impressed with the breakfast spread. As a vegan, I often have a lot of anxiety and associate hotel breakfasts with limited options that I can make do with. The vegan options at the breakfast buffet were incredible and was the first hotel I’ve stayed at where I felt like I had as much choice as everyone else. I really want the commend the hotel for this. The hotel was clean, all of the staff were welcoming and pleasant, and it’s so convenient being able to make use of the hotel gym. Incredible stay and have already recommended this hotel to friends and family!!

This is a really beautiful hotel. Our room was gorgeous. The area around the hotel has a lot of building work going on at the moment but it will be lovely once it is all finished. one thing of note, while the breakfast area and the food selection was really excellent it was VERY busy every day. It is such a big hotel that shouldn’t be a surprise but worth planning for.

The shower had a problem with clogging and we didn’t get help the same day, so after a reminder the day after it was fixed fairly swift, we also got vouchers for a cocktail upstairs in the rooftop bar so all is forgiven. The spa is not worth a visit, very little variation and extremely loud environment especially when a group of guys occupy the pool in the centre of the room screaming to each other constantly. We also found a hefty portion of snus tobacco pasted onto the seat of the sauna. The hotel personnel should have asked them to behave or kicked them out, but unfortunately nothing of the sort happened. Breakfast was very crowded but you could always find seating. Better information about the booked time slots would probably have helped.

Room Access Failure – The key didn’t work, and my daughter and I had to sit on the floor waiting for help.
2.Lack of Communication – No phone in the room, making it impossible to contact staff at night.
3.Unbearable Noise – Loud disturbances continued until 4 a.m., ruining any chance of rest.
4.Misleading Support – Hotels.com told me I could cancel with a refund, but the hotel refused.
5.Inadequate Compensation – One hour of spa access for one person only, while I was traveling with my daughter.
These failures completely ruined the purpose of our stay — a peaceful and relaxing day — and I received far less than what I paid for.

Breakfast was exceptional and the property is trendy and spacious. The roof top bar is great with exceptional views of the city, and the Obie spa was definitely worth visiting a number of times during our stay for sauna and massage. Gao went above and beyond with helping us out with a few issues and we received both helpful and friendly customer service from Helene, Linne, Emilie and Sara. All staff at the hotel and spa were super nice. Woukd definitely return!

FIVE STARS!!!

Lisa at the front desk was amazing! The area was experiencing a heat wave while we were there and I expressed my concern at check-in. She was very polite and offered to provide us with a fan which promptly arrived once we were checked into our room. The breakfast buffet was incredible with tons of tasty options for starting our days. The hotel is also very close to the train stops so we were able to get around town super easy! Highly recommend this hotel and would 100% stay here again.

Nice hotel

Really good breakfast. Comfy room. Great view.
Our room wasn’t cleaned for days despite putting the please clean out room tag on the door. We have a baby in nappies, we need our bin emptied. Also ran out of toilet roll, not restocked for a week’s stay.

Potential of being good

This hotel has the potential to be a really good hotel. Great design, comfortable rooms, a nice bar and we really love the service and quality of Brasserie Draken.

Unfortunately the hotel really need to do something about the appalling level of housekeeping, they either forgot to clean the room at all, or it’s half cleaned with missing towels, dirty glasses/coffee cups etc. We stayed for 4 night and not once was the room properly cleaned. Unfortunately there also seems to be an issue with staffing at reception, no one picks up the phone when you try to call and if you go down to reception to get help you’d be waiting for at least 15min as it’s too busy with guests checking in/checking out.

The hotel was not full and i was allocated a room where there had clearly been a leak and the walls were covered over with plaster cast and not painted over. I am not sure what cleaning took place during the stay, glasses were not collected, the tea bags were not replenised and the towels etc in the bathroom were not folded/tidied

Much better options available in Gothenburg

Upon arrival I had such high hopes for this hotel, it was billed as great new entry to the Gothenburg hotel scene.

At check in things seemed great Nathalie at the front desk was a rockstar helping us out and was super service minded. Sadly that was the end of the good times.

We found out that no restaurants were open at the hotel (including room service) and we needed to use uber eats after our long trip from Hong Kong. We had pizza, the pizza boxes became a joke as they were outside our room for 3 days at which point we requested removal. Now you may be thinking why would housekeeping leave them there, well it’s day four and we still have not had our room cleaned.

The breakfast is great, and the staff there are awesome. As are the staff at the “living room”.

The restaurant at top is in reality not part of the hotel, they couldn’t care less if you stay here. The views are an amazing, the food is fine, the staff needs to come down to earth. When I booked I asked for a table at 19.00, I was told 18.30 or 20.30. We showed up at 18.30 the place was half empty which it stayed all night so a gimmick was already deployed at booking. Then I mentioned that I asked for table with a view at booking, which there were plenty of when they seated us, I was told I need to wait. I then went and provided more information, I was told that they did not like my attitude. Then 3 minutes later they had a table with a view, which of course they did as the place was half empty, another gimmick

My stay here was okay nothing special about the hotel but the bathrooms were clean and to me that’s the most important part of my hotel experience.

The bed covers and towels smelt weird like they weren’t new sheets like someone literally laid the bed after someone stayed there instead of changing out the entire bed covers and that made it uncomfortable

Breakfast was very mid no variety just the same thing everyday but it covers all types of breakfast choices just and is consistent

The location is good lots of things around and transport, the city centre is also very close and in walking distance

Hotel staff were l friendly and that’s also nice

House keeping wasn’t frequent not sure if it’s because I went during the holiday season but I stayed 4 days and only had my room cleaned once

Overall I’ll give this hotel a 5/10 lots could be improved

Stunning hotel tram and buses only 3mins walk and next to Haga Christmas market. The hotel should have space available for guest to dine at the main restaurant and Spa access should be free only pay for robes. Overall amazing hotel would definitely stay here again.

I loved this property! I didn’t have to ask for an upgrade they just gave it to me.. a much higher floor and corner room with an amazing view. The breakfast blows anywhere I’ve ever stayed out of the water. Literally put American hotels to shame. I feel bad for Swedes that visit the States..

Great place for a weekend break

Gorgeous hotel with great staff, central location and lovely rooftop bar. The rooms were comfy with great quality bedding and views over the water. Only thing I would change is a safe in the room - I was surprised this was not provided.
