We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The staff was very accommodating when we requested to change our room due to the curving stairs to the 3rd level (no elevator). The breakfast was delicious every morning and there were shops throughout the area. I would definitely stay there again.

I couldn't make my check in because I did not receive the code in my phone or mail. If it wasn't that other people were doing their check in at the same time, went to their room, came down with the password for internet and then being able to connect to my laptop and recheck my inbox (where the code had arrived) I don't know what would have I ve done since the number provided to call was not picked up earlier. However, in Expedia clearly said there was people at the reception. Never saw a human being. Not at arrival. Not at check out. What if ones need something? If there is no hot water or electricity or something? Who you talk to? Said that, the hotel itself, the room, the beds etc were excellent.

The hotel is conveniently located right in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore nearby sights and attractions. The staff was friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, which we appreciated.

However, the cleanliness and service in the room left something to be desired. Housekeeping only made the beds and did not replace our used coffee cups or restock the coffee and milk supplies. As a result, we were only able to make coffee in the room on the first of our three mornings—disappointing, especially as we were traveling with a baby and were up early each day.

We also felt somewhat misled regarding the hotel’s accessibility. We were aware that there was no elevator, but we called ahead and were assured we’d get a room on the first floor and that there would only be a “small flight of stairs” to manage with our baby stroller. In reality, we were met with a large, circular staircase that was quite challenging to navigate. This made the stay far from convenient for a family with a small child.

All in all, while the location and staff were positives, the lack of attention to room upkeep and the misleading information about accessibility made the stay less comfortable than we had hoped.

This quaint little hotel is superbly located in the heart of Gothenburg. Several restaurants, cafes, and bars are a few minutes away as is the train station and a major tram stop. The staff is superb… both efficient and friendly. Construction is going on next to the hotel which made for noisy mornings during our stay. Other than that, we enjoyed our time here. The location cannot be beaten.

The staff was very welcoming, kind, and helpful. This is a small, beautiful space with art throughout. We enjoyed a drink in the coolness of the courtyard. Breakfast was lovely. We felt safe and secure. It seemed like a tasteful example of Göteborg hospitality.

This hotel was super-easy to find, being just a few minutes’ Walk from the penultimate stop on the airport bus. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, the bed really comfortable. Definitely recommended !

I had a fantastic stay at Hotel Vanilla. The place was incredibly clean, peaceful, and conveniently located just a short walk from the city's main street. The atmosphere was serene, making it perfect for a relaxing trip. The breakfast was diverse and delicious, offering a great start to each day. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit. Highly recommended!

Good location, clean with an average hotel breakfast. However the twin room we had was small and looked nothing like the pictures. There wasn’t much space to navigate round the bottom of the beds. There was building work going on next door which started at 7 in the morning, so check this before you travel. Asked for a different twin room but they didn’t have another one.

A pleasant medium size hotel with very helpful staff, a comfortable room and great breakfast.
We stayed over a weekend and our room overlooked Kyrkogatan which was noisy (people and commercial vehicles) for our taste.

Highly recommended - be aware there is no elevator

Located in the heart of Gothenburg, within easy walking distance from the railway station and the main tourist area.

The hotel is nicely decorated and laid out, but be aware that there is no elevator if this is an issue. The room was clean and quite spacious.

The supplied breakfast was more than adequate.

The lady on the front desk on Friday, when we arrived, was incredibly friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations etc, but over the weekend she was replaced with people who were rather disinterested in being there.

Overall we would highly recomend.

Horrible spiral staircase people can injure
Horrendous construction activities happening from very early in the morning with huge hammers and knocking sounds - unbearable for small baby

This is my third stay and every time it has been so comfortable and beautifully light - I love the beds and courtyard for breakfast. The staff are always warm and welcoming. I am a big fan! It’s very walkable to all kinds of cafes, restaurants, shops, and attractions as well.

Lovely, friendly city centre hotel. Perfect location in the middle of Gothenburg - tram stops 2min walk away. It can be a little noisy at night on a Friday and Saturday as you would expect in a city centre , but the windows are double glazed so it was not a problem. A fan was provided, which was great as it was warm during our stay. The cleanliness of the rooms could not be faulted
Breakfast was fresh and good quality.
We loved our stay at this charming hotel and would definitely stay again next time we visit Gothenburg.

Highly recommended for short/solo trips

Comfortable single bed. A couple of outlets not working, but enough working ones that this wasn't really an issue. The room was clean and tidy and well enough equipped for short to medium stays. Staff were all amenable and helpful - Camilo in particular was fantastic. A small but absolutely serviceable complementary breakfast buffet, and a selection of drinks available to purchase at reception. The central location was fantastic, and there was no traffic noise in the room. For a small hotel it covered all the basics really well and I would definitely recommend for short or solo trips.

This is my second stay and it is the most welcoming, comfortable, haven-like place - and yet still in the middle of a great area to explore, walkable to most sights in the center of town. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, always willing to offer recommendations off the beaten tourist path. The breakfast is delicious and the little courtyard is a peaceful place to enjoy it! I will be back !

It's a small albeit very nice hotel located in the heart of Gothenburg. Everything is near by. Central station is in less than 10 min walk. Two tram station are on the block. The room was nice and very clean (and I mean very clean). The bathroom was of a decent size and had everything one can expect from a hotel of this level. Bed was comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful, all recommended restaurants were really good.
Hotel doesn't have an elevator which should be accounted for by anyone who travels with a stroller or heavy bags as the stairs are pretty steep. The weak spot of the hotel was breakfast. It was very limited, particularly if compared with a typical Scandic's one. This hotel is certainly a good place for a short stay.

We loved staying at Hotel Vanilla! The old part of Göteborg is a very walkable. The hotel is centrally located close to the main train station and all of the historic sites in the area. Property has some old world charm and is clean. Daily breakfast was great - yogurt with granola, ham and eggs, breads/jam, coffee, etc. Our room was on the second floor (there's no lift) overlooking the street (which I like), great natural sunlight and love being able to people watch. Linens were very soft, room and bathroom were spacious. The shared bathroom and rest areas for all guests were very clean! Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Price cannot be beat. When we visit Göteborg next, we will definitely stay here.

stayed four days at the hotel and there is a truck that comes early in the morning around 5am to 5.30am to empty the trash of the building, (or the building next to it) making a lot of noise in the wee hours of the morning. Wont recommend this place for light sleepers. Walkable distance to the station with nice shops in the neighbourhood. Breakfast is a bit too simple with not much varieties.

Absolutely loved it here! Adorable theming and cozy amenities in the room and around the hotel. So comfortable, spacious room, beautiful lobby and art throughout the property and nice to be able to have the breakfast out in the courtyard. My one suggestion would be to check in on the floor light - it was a safety feature to remind about a step being there but it clicked on and off at will.

Everything about this hotel was wonderful, and in different circumstances, I would have rated it much higher. But at the time of my stay (July 2022), there was construction across the street that wills me at 6:30 a.m., then continued nonstop after about 7:00. If you’re an early riser, then I highly recommend this; otherwise, be forewarned.

Hyggelig hotell med sjel! Personalet var svært vennlige. Selv-innsjekk fungerte godt. Rent og fint. Familie-rommet var romslig og praktisk, med store vinduer ut mot bakgård. Fantastisk god seng, samt sengetøy! Badet noe slitt, kranen ved vask fungerte dårlig. Alle nivåer( uten heis) gjør at dette ikke er egnet for personer med mobilitets-utfordringer. Ønsket oss lengre frokost-tid på hverdager (9.30). Beliggenheten er ‘midt i smørøyet’; handlegater, restauranter, barer, jazzklubb, Saluhall, kino etc.
