Haha! My review?! All good at check in. Once in the room, you can see that there is a space between the front door itself and the door frame. The wallpaper is peeling off the wall in the bathroom and the back window doesn’t lock. As I settle for the night, I realize that it’s getting cold and try to set up the heater only to realize the little heater under the bathroom counter is the only one working which is not enough for the room. Went to tell the front desk, the lady came to the room, went to check the fuses, couldn’t figure out what was wrong, called a handyman, he arrived in a timely manner, checked the outlet and noticed something had burnt in it. He replaced the outlet, but it didn’t fixed the problem. I asked for portable heater, the handyman brought two but only one worked. He ended up leaving it was past 10:30pm. By then, the bathroom heater was no longer working… So I slept with my winter jacket and Sorel boots on. Earlier, the lady at the front desk suggested I move in another motel across the street but it was already late at night and I think it was odd that they still had room available across the street, in a motel (Carriage House Motor Inn… that you can’t book online) during a sold out weekend in LP. I asked for a compensation for the disruption and lack of heating, they said the manager was difficult about this and at check out, I was told I have to contact Expedia directly.

Worst hotel ever. Desk closes at 11 and said they would leave room door open and keys inside. Arrived 12:30 and room was locked in a sold out town. No room service next days. Paint peeling, wall paper coming off, rusted heater. Bed blanket was disgusting. We left two days early.

For the price it was disappointing. The lampshade was being held in with masking tape. The phone did not work.

But it was an indoor pool and hottub. And we slept well, so it was decent when you looked past the dated decor and other issues.

Was there 1/11-1/13. Parking lot was a skating rink, packed jagged ice, felt very unsafe. A big reason I stayed at this facility was their hot tub/pool, but the hot tub was hit or miss. Temp was 85 the first night I was there, which is lukewarm at best. It was 98 the 2nd night, which was good, but then back down to 89 next morning. Rooms were clean but the lighting is ugly yellow lamps. Heavy curtains black out light but there is no screen curtain that lets in light but doesn't allow people to see in. I've stayed at this facility many times over the years for the pool and location, but this will be my last time.

It’s a place to sleep, beds were comfortable, room was clean. Doesn’t have the great amenities but can’t complain with the reasonable price. It is an older hotel and it does show but not in a bad way. They don’t have microwaves in the room, they do have a community microwave to use if needed.

Perfect for the purpose of our stay. Rooms are outdated and what you might expect from this tier of property. Due to lack of updates, availability of working outlets and adequate temperature controls were factors in this rating. Overall, would stay again for budget friendly option. The point of coming to the area is to be outside of the hotel as much as possible anyway.

This facility is slightly dated, but it looks like they are in the process of upgrading. My room was clean enough, but the carpet needed freshening up. Love the balcony on the second floor. Breakfast has been discontinued. Pool was closed for repair. Staff was nice enough. Still a good value if you're not looking for a Hilton experience!

A simple roadside motel with no extras. A little run down but had friendly staff. We stayed two nights and as a lower priced place, we did not expect more! Located well by the main road with a 4 min drive to town and 4 min drive to the ski jump complex, which was an amazing place to visit.

We were on a budget so the nightly price was decent for the property location. However the building and its grounds were a slight eyesore and very outdated. The pool and hot tub were broke and our room had a slight musty smell but seemed clean for the most part, it just had some minor defects and a lack of wall outlets (outdated). Despite the flaws, our beds were decently comfortable and the room was quiet.

We checked in around 10pm and upon entering the room discovered 1 light worked. We had to stumble in the dark to get it on. The one over the TV and the lamp by the fridge were not working. We put our sodas in the fridge and the froze overnight. The bathroom was filthy with severe rust and water stains above the shower and toilet (we have photos). Cockroach's in the bathroom made me leave my shoes and socks on all night. When I brought the problems to the front desk, the woman just shrugged and said sorry. Almost $200 for a terrible night!!!!!!!

Cheapest place in town...still overpriced

This place is in desperate need of an update. Very old and outdated. Staff was friendly and helpful when needed, however office is only open 7am-11pm. I came back at 11:05 to find my keycard had deactivated and I had no way to get into my room. Thankfully a friend down the road had a couch I could crash on. This was the cheapest option in town, and I didn't expect luxury...but definitely would not stay here again unless they updated the rooms, mattresses, and especially the lock systems on the doors.

Aside for that, absolutely terrible... there is mold in the room!!!!!

The sheets and all looked like they weren't even washed

the room had no microwave, nothing but 1 towel and 1 wash cloth, the beds are hard and very uncomfortable, also, no wifi (when we were suppose too....

Its dirty, and has a musty smell to it... another disappointment, they do not provide breakfast or anything food wise, only coffee, which was disgusting as well! Also, the pool and spa is shut down. I just couldnt believe the whole thing! Very very disappointed, and would not recommend this place.

Filler valve on toilet was shot. Had to flush by filling the tank up with the ice bucket. Outside door would only latch sometimes. Door was left open by cleaners while we were out. Brought issues to the front desk and was told that we would get a discount by one worker and that a note would be left for a manager by another. Place was booked, so no other rooms were available. Needless to say, no concessions were made by management. Why would they? They made their money. Also, just stop saying you have a pool. Im willing to guess that there really arent plans to reopen it. Won't stay again.

After I got confirmation from Expedia of my booking, I got a call directly from the hotel saying they did not have a room and had to cancel the reservation. They said there must’ve been something wrong with their reservation system. I expect Spadea will make sure I am fully credited for this. Also, I would like to know why this happened. If I don’t have confidence in booking through Expedia, I will have to consider stop using the service

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times in the past and it’s been adequate for the price. Outdated but clean, hot tub/pool and breakfast.

The last two times I’ve stayed here have been pretty disappointing. Both times the pool/hot tub was closed. Additionally I was charged twice for my stay last time and it took 6 weeks for them to refund me. There was no breakfast this past weekend as well (not sure if that’s a forever thing or not).

The shower curtain was way too small for the shower. Water was splashed and the bathroom floor would basically flood every time you used the shower. This was unavoidable while showering. Our toilet also clogged multiple times.

I’m not sure if it’s new ownership but this hotel unfortunately has taken a turn for the worse. It was also a descent place to stop after a long hike in the ADK but for the price you can find better.

If you like a room that smells humid and like an old cigarette, this is a place for you. The room hasn’t been upgraded in a generation and the shower had water damage and black mold on the ceiling. The pool and hottub were shut down, and looked like they had been for a while. Of course they didn’t provide notice of any of this, especially to a family coming up to enjoy skiing, and all the outdoor activities the Lake Placid area has to offer, and would love nothing else but to soak in a hot tub afterwards. After all, that’s one of the things we punched in the search criteria. Spend your money someplace else. You get what you pay for and I learned the hard way on this place.

Clean and comfortable enough, and affordable for an overnight stay. Don’t expect breakfast, modern decor, or anything more than basic and functional. We were in town for a huge sporting event, and they were one of the few hotels that didn’t require a two-night stay. Also it seems they don’t jack their rates up depending on what events are happening in Lake Placid. Even though I’m sure the hotel was booked for the weekend with youth athletes/coaches/families, it was relatively quiet. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Note that the rooms have fridges but no microwaves, but there is a communal microwave available on the second floor. If you don’t want to lug your stuff up and down stairs, request a first floor room as there is no elevator. Also note that they don’t seem to believe in plowing the snow in the parking lot. You can drive in and park, but walking to and from your car would be easier in snowshoes…

Hotel Went WAY Downhill since last visit!

We have been coming here for many years each hockey season; the hotel definitely took a turn since our last visit. The pool and hot tub were closed, and breakfast no longer offered--no notification ahead of time. That should be considered false advertising as nothing on the site indicated this! I see now by seaeching reviews this has been going on for a few months with many complaints...why not let people know? These are some of the only reasons we stay here as the rooms are very dated and there are no other perks. Our room definitely needed some attention; mild/mildew spots on the ceiling and questionable stains on the bathroom floor. TV was on the desk (so could not use the desk as a...desk). One chair was so wobbly that we couldn't sit on it for fear of it breaking. No choice but to stay as it is a busy CAN/AM weekend and hotels are booked. Should have been a discount and/or notification of pool/hot tub closing and no breakfast (AT LEAST AT CHECK-IN!) People with children PLAN on these things--at least update the website or notify customers by email ahead of time.

Unfortunate as we come to Lake Placid often and will definitely now avoid the Roadway in the future!

The girl at the front desk is very friendly, helpful and kind. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. It was pretty quiet! The tv worked. This hotel is less than 1.5 miles to Main St and the way is lit at night so you can easily walk if you want to, or take the free shuttle that stops right at the hotel every hour. Rodeway is much cheaper than anything else i found.
Not so good:
The rooms and hallways need renovation and repair. The lighting is dingy. The hallways smell. The faucets drip and the showerhead in my room sprays in many directions. No microwave in the room, you have to go to the front desk. The hotel gives you 2 soaps, a small shampoo bottle and a bag with coffee, powdered cream, and sugars. They don't have breakfast anymore and the pool and hot tub were closed for repairs.
It was a basic, decent place to stay. I'd stay again.

Have been staying here for years, but clearly things are slowly going downhill. I initially booked here strictly for the hot tub (which is usually amazing) and its proximity to town. Upon check in both pool and hot tub were closed due to the lack of a part they were waiting for. It remained closed for our stay. The room was ok, but heater-fan is noisy so not the best if you are a light sleeper. The room we were given had a TV with no working volume and outlets by bed did not work. We thought about moving to another hotel for our second night, but asked for a room change instead (which they did). The second room was better, working TV and bedside outlets, but same noisy fan. The coffee that was supposed to be available at reception in the morning never materialized and the in room coffee and machine dont work well together so the coffee was pretty terrible, also had to plug the coffee maker in the bathroom as there is no outlet where the
Coffee maker was situated. On the plus side, beds were comfortable, but even for the low price, I regrettably will not likely return despite staying there on and off for over 20 years. There are simply too many better options in Lake Placid.

Both hotels advertised pool and hot tub and both were closed. The Hilton Garden Inn in Saratoga N Y filled their pool with cement and lied they said they didn’t have a pool It’s on the internet. Rodeway in Lake Placid lied as well. They said the pool was “broke “I am going to fight the charges.

It’s a warm place to stay, but the property has seen better days. There was mildew on the ceiling above the shower and an unidentifiable stain underneath the bathroom counter. The parking lot was not plowed while we were there, and was a sea of slush. I’ve stayed here because it’s inexpensive, but I think it’s time to spend just a little more.

I booked the stay for my son and I. The main factor of choosing this place was the indoor pool then we check in and was told it was out of service. That was never disclosed when I booked, had I known that I wouldn’t have chose to stay at this specific hotel so very disappointed about that. Otherwise it was an okay stay.
