Great location. Staff were nice, view was pretty, everything was clean. A lot of the space felt freshly renovated. Large common area seemed cozy. Check in was easy. The outside of building is painted black, looks like it was a lighter color underneath and there weren’t enough coats of black paint to fully cover it, so it looked a little run down from the outside. Definitely not run down inside. The room was nice — the shower has a half wall kind of thing (not a full door or curtain) which I didn’t love, but not a big deal. Someone else’s long hair was on the bag holding the hair dryer, not the end of the world. The only really bad part — we woke up during the night a dozen times from a terrible metallic screeching noise. I had tried messing with the window to fix it, couldn’t figure it out — finally at 1am, short of asking to switch rooms, my fiance slammed the window closed super hard and the sound disappeared. Had to do it to both windows. Lastly, after a long day I wanted to watch some tv and go to sleep early. Some of the buttons on the remote didn’t work. I couldn’t screencast from my phone or log into any streaming apps. Ok, we’ll just watch cable then — but for some reason it was buffering and skipping the whole time. Oh well.

No complaints about service because I didn’t require any besides once weekly housekeeping but the rooms are just bare minimum. I stayed in 2 different rooms and both had super thin windows where you could hear everything outside. My main complaint is about the queen size room. The shower was just a curtain to pull across so water got on the floor, barely enough room to turn around and no shelving to put anything in the shower. The walls and baseboards were dirty and there was no where to sit and eat. No table at all besides the cubbies for clothing storage so I had to stand at that to eat. There was also no storage area in the bathroom at all - sink barely had room to set a makeup bag.
Finally, there was some sort of private event that happened at the bar one night (people were dressed very nicely) which is fine, but there was no communication to the other guests. So I felt embarrassed when I came down the stairs in my pajamas and had to walk through these people all dressed in suits.

The room was clean but there wasn’t much storage space (no closet, dresser, etc.) other than a couple shelves, storage rack, and coat hanger.

The staff was exceptional and the king room with bunk was spacious! Not shown in photos, but there are two rooms side by side, one with king and one with bunks, both with doors. Outside the rooms is a living area, kitchenette, dining area and bathroom.
The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. So much that I wanted to know where the pillows were from.

I do think there are some opportunities for improvement:
- a bigger entry rug and a broom would be helpful during winter when boots bring in the muck. The tiny rug in the door wasn’t cutting it.
- the continental breakfast could be improved. Packaged muffins and waffles were a bummer. The only cheese was string cheese?
- the hotel common space was beautiful and large and it felt under utilized. In both the room and common space there could be improvements to make it feel more elevated.

Lastly/ thin walls! Neighbors packing up to leave at 5 or 6 am meant everyone was awake. I know they can’t control their patrons noise but a gentle reminder would be appreciated.

Property was clean, very nice common areas with several different areas for groups to gather. Room was on first floor, with parking right outside window. Heard lots of parking lot noise. Windows old, definitely in need of replacement, window blinds were old and made of cloth. Looked a bit old and worn. Hotel is u see new management. Hopefully some of the needed updates will happen soon.

Very Disappointing Stay at Laurel Lake Placid

My stay at Laurel Lake Placid was extremely disappointing and far below expectations. The breakfast was honestly one of the worst hotel breakfasts I’ve experienced — very limited options, poorly presented, and felt more like an afterthought than an actual service for guests. There was barely any variety, and the quality did not match what you would expect from a hotel in Lake Placid.

The room itself was equally frustrating. It was almost empty, with minimal furniture and barely any amenities provided. It felt unfinished and uncomfortable rather than cozy or welcoming. Basic essentials that most hotels normally provide were missing, making the stay inconvenient and not worth the price at all.

Overall, the hotel lacks attention to guest comfort, proper amenities, and quality service. I would not recommend staying here unless major improvements are made.

The look view room was nice to have with sectional and small fridge. The continental breakfast had decent choices. Unfortunately the pool was closed and had been for 6 months. That was disappointing and would have been nice to know ahead of time. It should have been noted or at least not highlighted on the web site. It was one of the reasons we chose the hotel.

It was a very snowy friday night and there was absolutely no parking. The clueless gentalmen at the front desk told us to go across the street and pay to park in there lot. Bring back reciept and they would reimburse us. So we went over and they where like NO our parking is for our hotel guest. So had to park in a lot down the steet. Make sure you take a pic. Of the paykiosk so you can call at 8am to pay for your parking so you dont get a ticket. The front desk person was all alone. He didnt care what issues you had. He just needed his dinner 1/2 hr. Before he could deal with anything. Walls where paper thin. It was so loud out in hallway up until 12 am with kids running and playing tag. They didnt take care of there parking lot the whole weekend we wjere there. Will never stay there again.

I sent my complaint directly to the Laurel Lake Placid today via email. Summarizing, 45min before check out, without verbal warning or knocking on the room entrance door, a person opened the door and began entering the room which startled me. Afterwards a housekeeper said she thought the room was empty even though I hadn’t checked out and it was still before check out time. I spoke to the manager and she said submit a email complaint so I am and have.

Love the location and decor - the room is spacious, nice views of the lake, and the public areas are very light and pleasant.
A few areas that could be improved:
1. There is very little storage space in the room and no where to hand coats etc.. - adding a few hanging hooks in the entry way is a simple way to solve that
2. Hotel is going through a management transition and it shows; the food offerings did not match the menu (very limited food in fact), pool was being repaired, cleaning supplies like brooms and mops are left out in visible areas, spaces being vaccuumed in middle of day when it's loud
Hotel has so much potential, with a few small tweaks I think it would be amazing.

Location is great. Limited parking, had to park out back down an alley, that was not mentioned prior to checking in. Room was on the small side and could hear everyone walking down the hall. Shower knob fell off in my hand, bed was uncomfortable with a mattress protector which caused the sheets to slide around. Sheets not the correct size for the mattress, so the fitted sheet kept coming undone throughout the night. Couch in front of TV was uncomfortable, could not watch TV in bed and \"stains\" on couch. 1 Keurig coffee maker for entire hotel so there was a line in the morning to make a cup of coffee. Great views from the room, hotel is run down and pool was closed. Breakfast buffet is all prepackaged items, cereal, yogurt etc...could have/should have started earlier than 8am for being prepackaged.

Sheets had a stale smell to them, heater would not turn off no matter how much you lowered it (had to turn it off), and stuff looked kind of thrown together. Almost like a house flip, but on a hotel scale. It was fine for one night but would not repeat.

The hotel felt very new, room was large and comfortable. I would have liked a coffee maker in the room. It had a frig and micro wave, so why not coffe? We hardly saw any people. We found the tv remote difficult but someone came and helped us. Grab and go breakfast was included, nice but basic. The price was very reasonable. Great location.

The location is excellent — right on Main Street with a beautiful lake view — and the downstairs sitting area is very nice. However, overall the experience did not match the price. We paid $500 per night and expected better.

The rooms are very small. We had a Junior King with a sleeper sofa, and the sofa was extremely uncomfortable for our kids. The sheets were polyester, not cotton. Because the entrance connects directly to the outside, sand and snow melt get tracked into the room easily. I asked housekeeping to sweep the floors, went downstairs to request it again, and waited about two hours — no one came, so I ended up cleaning it myself.

The website states there is a pool, but when I asked staff, I was told there is no pool available for guests. That was misleading.

Breakfast was advertised as a buffet but was really just a basic continental selection with very limited protein. Items were often not refilled, and the coffee was empty multiple times.

The staff was okay but not particularly attentive. For $500 per night, I believe the hotel could and should do better.

This was our third time staying here and the place is becoming more and more rundown. The location is great and design is nice, but maybe the new management isn't keeping up? Not sure but overall, it was messy. And the sliding door to the lobby wasn't working, nor was our fridge, so that was a bit inconvenient.

Absolutely terrible customer service at this hotel, from check in, through dealing with no wifi or hot water for my one night stay. I checked in at 5pm, by 6pm the internet and TV had stopped working, when I asked about the problem they said they had just changed the internet set up and there were new passwords and printed materials for the information. This was an hour after I checked in, they weren't apologetic and were actually rude. The customer service got worse when I told them I'd run the shower for 10 minutes and there wasn't any hot water, it was barely warm. I was told they'd had no other complaints and the hot water was fine. Terrible experience all around, luckily I was leaving very early the next morning to keep traveling so didn't have to deal with the hotel again. I would not recommend this hotel, this hotel brand or ever stay at any hotel associated with them again.

The property changed ownership just days before our stay so that is to be considered.
Location was great, clean, plenty of common room seating not feeling crowded with others. Beautiful view of the lake, walkable to everything steps outside the door.
A hefty deposit is taken when you check in. Steep in my opinion at 150.00.
I asked for a receipt when checked out.
The young man at the desk told me I would receive it through my travel website.
Understandable but I was more concerned with having some proof of deposit if it’s not refunded. That was unsettling to me.

There was a very loud new years eve party with DJ directly below us which we were not informed about in advance, loud heavy bass music until 1am. The staff were all lovely but the hotel seemed understaffed and the room was only cleaned once when we had to request it. Basic amenities such as a boot tray and a wine opener are not in the rooms; there was no knife or bagel cutter to cut bagels at breakfast requiring use of disposable plastic. Just minor things that would make the hotel seem more complete. The decor was very nice and the staff as I mentioned were all very professional.

I was very disappointed in the hotel. The pictures make it look so new and update, but it is an old building with a very surface level makeover. The continental breakfast was also extremely lacking and was served with paper plates and plastic single use cups. Thie is bad for the environment and tacky. As a gluten free person, my only option was the fruit. There were no hot options which are normally available in a breakfast offering. We ended up only staying one of our two nights that we reserved.

I had three interactions at the front desk, and each person was quite cold and rude to myself and other guests I witnessed. The listing says parking is included, but it is not. The hotel told me to go down the road to find municipal parking, but they couldn’t provide an address. It ended up being a 10 minute walk. Troublesome situation with three young kids and all of our ski gear at night while it’s heavily snowing. They had the lobby drive up double parked for their bar party, so it was not accessible.

There is only one luggage cart for the hotel, which is quite difficult in a winter sports town. And, the rooms feel like a “quick fix” remodel. The bunk bed was made with raw, unsanded wood with the contractor notes written on it and nails sticking out. The heater banged and rattled. And all of the doors won’t stay open. Door stops were needed but not provided. The floors are creaky. We were woken each morning by someone walking in the room above us. Also, to get to our room, we had to go through many doors by guessing and finding cleaning staff as there is no signage.

The hotel changed names from the time we booked to the time we stayed, so I’m not sure if most of this is due to a change in management. We stayed at another hotel in the village right after this and had a completely different experience, for less. I would highly recommend a different option for your Lake Placid stay.

This hotel changed administration between the moment we booked and the moment of our stay. I must say it shows... When we got at the hotel, we realised they closed the indoor pool and the game room. There's no more restaurant, and the bar was also closed even though it was the busy holiday period. The service at reception was average - it feels like no one is in charge of the place, especially during the evening when it gets loud and busy in the common areas. The rooms are nice and clean. Overall, it's an average experience.

We’ve stayed at this hotel a number of times, and always enjoyed it. This time the hallways were full of rowdy teenagers in for a hockey tournament, which kept us awake late into the evening and woke us up at 5:30 AM. And most hotels of the price range one would’ve expected a credit for the evening, but instead we were given a $50 credit. We also had a significant credit from a prior cancellation, which you were told was “not available to us“. Evidently the hotel has a new owner.
And one thing, which is small, but still annoyed us, was the fact that the beautiful first floor lounge, which has a beautiful view of mirror Lake, also has a wonderful wood stove that when burning really makes the room and also provides a great deal of warmth. Our second night there we were told that it was broken, but that it would be “fix the next day“. It wasn’t as I said, just a small thing, but one of those little details that be loved about staying here in the winter.
And why no maid service every day?
We will certainly try this Hotel again and hope that they’ve made the necessary improvements.

Apparently the hotel let truck drivers park in their parking lot, resulting in very annoying situations like the one I had to endure, since the truck was parked right outside my window. This monster, semi-truck woke me up at 6am when the driver started the very noisy engine that lasted an hour. It took me 15 minutes to find a hotel employee since it has very thin employee pool after hours. Disappointing, Even more dissapointing is the fact that the hotel per se is not bad. Unfortunately this kind of situations makes you decide not to go back.

Stayed one night with my family. Everything was very good. I liked the bar being open as well, lol. The only thing about the room was that there was no desk with AC outlets and charging ports. Other than that, the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Would stay there again.

Love the hotel, but felt that the second person that we encountered at the reception desk could've been a little bit more personable.
We also had to ask for the bedding for the pullout bed/couch. It was not in the room.

This hotel is conveniently located to sight seeing, dining, shopping and entertainment. It’s very clean and offers a bar and social space. Lake Placid is a great place for dogs and this hotel is pet friendly. The decor in the rooms are lovely and modern. The rooms are very clean.

This hotel is my go to everything I’m in Lake Placid. Parking is right outside the building. The staff are amazing and check you in easily. I once came hours before my check-in and they managed to check me in within the hour. The hotel is clean and gives that lake placid vibe. You can walk to everything from this location.
