I love this hotel and have been back more than once. The staff are very nice and helpful and the location is lovely. It is not perhaps the best location if you want to fall out of your hotel straight into central Budapest or are into late night clubbing or dining but i love the location on Margaret Island. For me provides the perfect balance between the peaceful nature of the island and the bustle of the city. There are regular, reliable buses into the city and the view as you cross the bridge is of the stunning Parliament building - especially gorgeous when lit up.

The rooms are clean and traditional rather than modern - the sister hotel is more modern but I preferred the tradiitional feel of this one personally. Beds comfy and bathrooms clean and spacious.

There is a small place to eat here and breakfast is provided in the main dining room. You can also get a nice (but a bit overpriced) buffet in the nighbouring hotel for dinner.

The spa and pool are also and accessed via an underground tunnel joining hte two hotels. Robes and towels are provided. Gym is also well equipped.

Personally can't speak highly enough of this place and I would go back anytime.

Amazing location, beautiful building, friendly helpful and professional staff, not just the room itself which was immaculate but the whole hotel was spotless, continental breakfast was tasty and covered everything which left you full for the day to explore this beautiful city and then afterwards to return to the hotel and use all the highly rated spa , with its thermal pools and treatment.

We were absolutely delighted with our stay! Everything was wonderful - from the excellent service to the relaxing atmosphere. The highlight for us was definitely the hotel’s spa. After long days of exploring Budapest, we spent our afternoons unwinding in the mineral water pools, which was the perfect way to recharge. The breakfast was simply fantastic, with a wide variety and great quality. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with our experience!

The island is beautiful it has little rescue zoo, church, monastery, water tower, thermal pools at the hotel and on the Island and a water tower.
It takes about half an hour to walk towards the parliament.

I really enjoyed my time at Ensana Grand, and hope I can come back someday! My one improvement would be a more flexible wellness package included in the price of the stay - I had pool and sauna access included in my reservation, but I am not a pool or sauna person! If I could somehow switch this out for a limited amount of treatments, like the basic facials or massages, that would've been a game-changer.

This is my third time staying at this hotel. And this time was even better than before. The rooms are comfortable, the spa area is amazing, the breakfast buffet is extraordinary and the service is wonderful. I highly recommend staying at this jewel. It might not be modern, but its old time charm and location can’t be beat.

Our room looked like it hadn't been used for a few months. There was cobwebs on the mirror lights and on the light above the bed. Not a nice thing especially for my wife. Hotel otherwise is good, spa facilities are in the Ensana Thermal hotel and are good, too. The breakfast we as very very basic for us. As Vegetarian there was just bread, rolls,and cereals. No toasters, no beans, no roasted tomatoes, waffles etc that you find in a normal breakfast. The rooms are not soundproof at all. You can hear the cleaners outside. You can hear next door closing a cupboard door or sneezing etc, not quiet rooms at all. Disappointed with the breakfast and the webs in the room, and lack of soundproofing in the rooms.

Not Family-Friendly – Better for Adults with Pets

We stayed at this hotel recently, and overall, it left us with mixed feelings. The building itself is old-stylish, which can feel charming, and in general, it is kept clean. The staff is kind and welcoming, but everything moves very slowly. Communication can also be a challenge, as English is not spoken very well.

Food is definitely not a strong point of the hotel. It doesn’t always feel fresh, and sometimes the vegetables seemed old—borderline spoiled. This part was quite disappointing.

As for families, I would not recommend this place at all. Although the hotel advertises swimming pools, children are not allowed to play in them. They forbid bringing pool toys or even a ball, which makes the pool area very restrictive. Most of the other facilities are clearly aimed at adults, so the hotel should really market itself as an adults-only destination rather than as family-friendly.

Another thing to note is that many guests come with their dogs. If you are allergic to dogs or not comfortable around animals, this will be an issue.

To summarize: this is a quiet hotel for adults who want a slow-paced, calm stay, possibly with pets. But if you are a family with children, especially if you’re looking for pools and activities for kids, this is not the place for you.

Everything except only the parking wasn't excellent. The marked spaces are way to narrow for the rather wide (SUV) cars. Finally, I learned about the garage with wide slots, for extra money, but worth the peace of mind.

Expedia made a horrible mistake, when confirmed my reservation. Added beside my name, whole Credit card number, the security code too. I had to get a new card number.

The hotel location is excellent at Margaret island near the Japanese garden, very nice and relaxing to be in such place. The hotel feels very authentic. The staff were very nice to prepare us breakfast to -go on our last day because our flight was too early. The breakfast variety was also good. One point for improvement, consider installing window grille. Because our visit was during April not sure if there is a good air condition and air circulation.

I love this hotel mainly because of it's location. I have been here several times over the years. Unfortunately, I got the impression that the current staff cannot cope with the hotel being full. In Ensana Grand, there is no bar. The Boroka cafe is just awful.
The cafe at the otherhotel is always full and you have to wait for service as staff are overworked.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The location is stunning, quiet and peaceful but also a walkable distance the hustle and bustle.
The spa is perfect to relax after miles of walking.

Elegant and safe - grand indeed - quiet and comfortable, in the middle of Budapest, with easy access (by car) to Buda and Pest. Friendly and mostly kind staff.
Very nice breakfast buffet. Impressive spa / hot spring fed pools, sparkling-clean facilities.

This is a still amazing old era hotel, the contemporary decor is very well kept, everything in very good condition, my room was enormous, fantastic view,
I loved it, except the air conditioning that was more like a fan, it's ok for cold months but certainly not for summer, I was told that a proper system will be installed this year. I gave five stars because as soon as a raised my query, a member of the management team gave me several options including a beautiful suit but having the same A/C issues so finally I was transferred to their sister hotel Thermal Margaret Island, the room was smaller but very modern and comfortable. Gellebert was very professional, efficient, friendly, he sorted out my problem in no time, he clearly loves his job and should be the first in line for a pay rise because he and the rest of the staff are fabulous. Thanks.

The location is fantastic, the island is beautiful but you will need to get a taxi to get anywhere off the island. The rooms are nice and the facilities are good, however the air-conditioning is so old it's basically just a fan in your room. Breakfast was plentiful and had a great variety and the staff were great. Ide stay again but not in summer.

This was an amazing hotel with a lot to see and explore on the island itself. The room itself was amazing. Some of the staff members were nice and some were not. Some of the cleaning people were extremely rude when telling them to come back at a later time due to me just getting out the shower. Overall the stay was great.

Room cleaning service need to be improved a lot. Corridor that leeds to the pool had blood spots for days etc. Refrigerator didn't work in room and took 2 days to get the problem solved. Staff at breakfast service is lethargic bored no smile..means something is missing.

Hotel na pěkném místě. V hotelu nefungovala restaurace na večeři, nefungoval bar. Na pokoji nebyly župany - hotel je neměl pro všechny hosty. Bazén a restaurace je ve vedlejším hotelu. Pokud chcete jít na večeři nebo si koupit něco k pití či k jídlu musíte jet autobusem do centra....
