A lovely quiet hotel but within walking distance of the main sites in Pest. The hotel is styled to echo its Jazz Club past. The room was spacious with a mini bar, safe and storage space. Breakfast had a range of items which were replenished throughout service. The hotal is near restaurants and shops. It is also on public transport routes. We spent a week here and could not have asked for a better base to explore this beautiful city.

I personally enjoyed the heritage of the building and the antiquity.
My room 15 was well pointed, large and 2 windows.

The breakfast was sufficient to get your day started.

Felt like a safe area and good walking distance to main attractions.

We stayed for my Husband's Birthday and our Wedding Anniversary and I couldn't speak more highly of all the staff and the ambiance of the hotel. Maybe one small thing would be to have a grab rail on the deluxe baths and a hook for the shower! A small glass of bubbles with Breakfast was the icing on the cake, well it would be rude not too when you are celebrating! 10 out of 10 guys, you were superb.

We were in a no-window room. It was fine. Very quiet.
The service was great with them handling a couple special requests. Loved the entry.
Only minor thing is the mattress seemed a little old.
Overall very good. We would go back again.

There’s some rooms in the hotel that don’t have window. How come? The breakfast is great but the rooms are awful. No
Windows no fan no airconditioning. It like you are inside of box. When you take a shower it’s so hot and humid inside the room that you have to open the door or you will die.

decor and settings across the hotel effective and not kitchy
certainly not a usual hotel in that it is not part of a modern hotel chain
I must point out 1 small glitch..the spa tub in the room had a dirt ring around the edge where it joins the base.the spa/air inlets are is not very strong so expect just water movement.Breakfasts as in many European hotels of this type were good,however nothing changed day to day the same.nicely presented,fresh and appealing,apart from the bread for the toaster...stale all of the 4 breakfasts i spent there.the airconditioner in the room had just flowing air,no true airconditioning.other than these points,i fully recommend it -value for money

Good stay. No huge issues.

Room was fine for what I paid. I was solo, and only need the room to sleep and shower. It was fine. Wish I was put in a room away from the outside construction. I would have paid more, or taken a downgrade. Breakfast was fine. No issues. Lady who checked me in was very friendly... even asked me if I was going to be cold going out in short sleeves.

Overall th hotel was overpriced and not worth the money. The lift did not for 3 out of the 4 days we were there. Bedroom very dark bathroom toilet out of date and far too small. The hotel was not good value at all.Very disappointed.

We were travelling as a family with 5 of us. It was a unique and delightful place with great staff most courteous. We lost a purse in a taxi they had secured and they retrieved it and promised to send it to us in the USA.
(Hopefully it'll come soon.) We were glad it was not too hot then. It has no AC....but was convenient to many places we visited.

Amazing location but lackluster hotel performance.

The trip was amazing and the hotel is located very close to a lot of major attractions. Walkable distance to the Hungarian Parliament., St Stephens Basilica etc. So many places to eat and drink close by. The hotel needs to step up its cleanliness and housekeeping. Rooms weren't cleaned for two days together twice during our 5 day stay. No bathroom supplies were replenished unless you asked the front desk and sometimes you even needed to remind them a few times over. The AC units need a lot of modernizing. Of the two rooms we had, one had conked off and the other one seemed to be on its last legs. Thankfully it had rained and the temperature was comfortable at night. The front desk staff is pretty helpful. Akush and Tibor are very nice and accommodating hosts. The breakfast is decent. Not good but decent. At times they ran out of scrambled eggs and at other times other items like croissants and it would take them forever to replenish them. No staff available at the breakfast to help you out or monitor if anything is needed. Will only stay here again if no other hotel available in the near vicinity.

Hotel with a lot of character but unfortunately the outside was covered totally by scaffolding. Portable toilets outside for the workmen & a huge skip, piles of plaster & brick. Very noisy area & workmen right outside our window working from early morning till 6pm. Couldn’t open the curtains or windows. Wouldn’t stay here again if it was free!!!

Really quaint old hotel, in one of the traditional buildings in the center of Pest, very near most things visitors want to do in Budapest. They have kept the beautiful Art Nouveau decor, furniture, wallpaper, etc. Rooms are very clean, and the staff are really nice and helpful. Note, though, that this a traditional building, with very dark rooms.

Its centrally located minutes walk from the main train station etc.
Reception decor is good. Room was clean. Breakfast was good with warm food and quite a few options of cheese and meat.
We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights.
Please do not go there! The rooms have got temparature control problems and they dont have a fan. There are refurbishments going on the outside of the property so all the windows are shut, the heating seems to be on all day even thought he thermostat was switched off and so the rooms are extremely hot!
We told the hotel staff and he agreed that its hot inside the room, he checked the heater and said he cant do anything and there is no fan. We even said we are better of sleeping in the lobby and he agrees its better in the lobby :-) After a lot of persuasion he gave us a portable heater which works as a fan if the heating is switched off. It wasnt blowing any air. Anyways by then it was just a night remaining for us to leave the place.
Please stay away from this place!

The hotel is in a good location.It was clean,but the room was small.The lights went out while I was there. There was no emergency lighting only the tea candles .I was going down the stairs for breakfast when I slipped and feel down the stairs hit my head on on the brick wall at the bottom. I was asked if they would call an ambulance and I declined. No one from management came to see if I was ok or ever questioned the incident or contacted me to see if I was ok.

Nice old world hotel but the facilities not used

The facilities not used at the hotel ( underground restaurant jazz club would make this a 5 star restaurant to stay in . We had a nice stay but the breakfast was terrible we asked For toast bread and told none . It would have took 5 mins to get bread . Myself brought a loaf in 5 mins and we and others st the hotel used . Lights not on so could not see food laid out .

Friendly staff, but avoid the windowless room

I accidentally booked a windless room (I didn't even realise this was legal). I tried to remedy my mistake immediately through the hotel and through Expedia multiple times, but neither were very helpful, passing me back and forth, despite room availability and my willingness to pay more. I ended up staying in the windowless room. The room was big enough (so less claustrophic than feared), but after a couple of days it got rather disorienting. The breakfast room didn't have windows either, so I ended up having breakfast elsewhere where I can get some fresh air and light, and coming back to hotel just to sleep. I wouldn't recommend this.

LIKES:
-Like the location.
-Like the style despite some outdating features.
- Like the breakfast. Like the mini bar (fridge) in room.
-Like the good working WIFI
-Like the staff.
-Special thank you to AKOS SZABO, evening receptionist, who was very attentive, polite, helpful and generally very nice! Please let him know it is greatly appreciated.
DID NOT LIKE:
- The towels changed only every 3 days.
- The cleaning for first time (in 3 days) was not the greatest even though I left the tips. Second time cleaning was much better (without tips, lol). I believe, it depends on person.
- No shower curtain (not even the rod for it). Therefore, when we were showering, the water was dripping all over and floor was constantly wet (considering no extra towels to wipe the floor).
- No kettle in room like in most hotels in Europe and North America, which was not convenient. (Again, thanks to Akos who kindly was making hot water for us in evenings).
- Last day, when my husband was waiting for taxi outside at 9:00 am, 2 huge stones from roof and fell just a centimeter from his shoulder. Told the receptionist about it, he said \"Yea, I know, there is construction on the roof\". OK, but were the DANGER sign or FENCE, or some kind of reminder? Imagine, if my husband was standing a little more to the left. The stones could be on his head, and instead of airport, he could end up in emergency in the hospital. He was just lucky.

Vintage Charm, Total Comfort

With its Jazz Age theme and decor, this hotel has history and charm, with no sacrifice of comfort. Warm, beautiful decor, very comfortable beds. Bathroom loaded with vintage charm but super functional. We came in late and had to leave for early am flight; desk attendant was very helpful in getting the new thermostat work to turn on A/C, and had our cab waiting right in time. Wish we had had more time at this hotel.

Retro hotel with friendly staff and great value

The Cotton House is a re-creation of a 1920s hotel -- the look & atmosphere will make you feel you've back several decades. Staff was friendly the entire time. Our rooms was romantic. Sumptuous breakfast buffet is included. Place is close to Nyugati Train Station, but NOT the Keleti Station -- check which one you'll be arriving at!

Bad experience with Mr. Szabo Akos/the front desk

Generally speaking the guys working at the front desk were nice and helpful except Mr. Szabo Akos who was inpatient and literally nasty. In our first interaction with him we asked for directions how to get to the airport using public transportation. He suggested to take a cab and when we insisted on taking the bus to the airport he became adamant and gave us the wrong information, we asked another guy who works at the front desk and he gave us the correct information.
The night before our flight we asked Mr. Szabo Akos to wake us at 05:00 am. He said he would, but he forgot. Fortunately, I had the good intuition that he is not a reliable person and I manage to wake up. When we wanted to leave the hotel we found it was locked. He woke up, did not apologize for forgetting to wake us up, and said we had to pay 2580 HUF tax, which he could let us know the night before and not when we were already late to the airport. So, instead of taking he subway (we already bought the subway tickets the night before), we had to take a taxi who charged us a lot of money, something we tried to avoid. Mr. Szabo is not a person who should work with guests at the front desk. He is not nice and does not care about the guests. I am surprised he is still employed. He ruined the pleasure of staying in your hotel which I will not recommend as long as he is employed in the hotel.

Great location and fantastic buffet breakfast!

This hotel has old world charm. It's very pretty, with high ceilings and old fashioned moldings and light fixtures. You feel like you are stepping back in time to Old Budapest. It is furnished with antiques, lovely drapes and old photos from the 1800s. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Good water pressure in the showers. The front desk staff, especially Tomas, were very helpful. The hotel is within walking distance of all the major sightseeing sites in Budapest. The thing I liked best about the hotel was the amazing buffet breakfast, filled with high quality pastries, cookies, fresh baked croissants, a variety a fresh homemade breads, jams, spreads (such as liver and ham spreads) salads, olives, cheeses, cold cuts, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, yogurts, juices, teas, coffees, and more! The chocolate croissants were AMAZING! I have hd a lot of breakfast buffets in Eastern Europe and this was one of the best, especially for the price.

Very enjoyable stay, nothing really to fault

I stayed in this hotel for five nights and enjoyed every day of my stay. The lobby, my room, and the breakfast area all looked exactly the same as the photos, with fabulously old-fashioned decoration. I had more than enough space in my room to spread my suitcase and scatter my stuff all around and still be comfortable. Staff were also great, every one of them equally very attentive in their reserved and calm way, which I really liked. The location was not the heart of city center but near enough, and the area was quite and nice. Everything you need (Supermarkets, coffee shops, nice local restaurants, ATM, tram stops and metro) is in eash reach in this area and a lot of major tourist attractions were in 20~25 minute walking distance.
Overall I really loved this hotel and recommend it to those who plan to stay in the city for a few days soaking in the atmosphere.

First time in Budapest

Absolutely fell in love with this hotel! From the moment we walked in the staff couldn't of been more welcoming and helpful. They noticed I had a bad cough and offered help in finding a pharmacy! The room was gorgeous and huge, the breakfast was delicious and the decor was beautiful. We needed a early morning ride to the airport and when we went downstairs the taxi was waiting along with our to go breakfast. Our price had included breakfast, but since we were leaving early they offered a to go container. Such nice helpful people. Will definitely stay again next time we visit

Disappointing stay at the Cotton House Hotel

We booked the Cotton House as we were misled by the internet into thinking the hotel had a club that played live jazz. Unfortunately the club had closed permanently.... Breakfast at the hotel was cold/tepid bacon/egg and sausage. Cold boiled eggs and coffee from a machine. Two of the mornings we asked for bread to make toast but were told it had all been eaten and it was ordered in. Our room was small for a double 4 star room. Only one bottle of shower gel given complimentary for our four night stay. Towels were not changed in 4 days. No tea coffee making facilities in rooms. Next time we visit Budapest we will book an apartment. No double glazing to windows of this hotel so can be noisy outside at night on the lower floor.

Old Hungarian splendor, a little bit weathered

old hotel with thin walls and doors. Old Hungarian deco, a little bit weathered. If you are used to more modern hotels, this would not be your option. I you look for old Hungarian style, you may want to consider this. Helpful receptionists. Great Breakfast. Location very good, bars & restaurants in the neighborhood and easy to explore the city by food or subway from here. Avoid Hungary taxis if you can!! They rip you off!!!

Enjoyable stay in Budapest

Cotton House is a lovely old quirky building a short walk from the Andrassey Utca where you can choose from lots of excellent restaurants. The staff were very pleasant, courteous and helpful. I had Room 26 on the second floor reached by an amazing old fashioned lift. The breakfast room is down in the old Jazz club area in the cellar, it has a good varied choice. Only thing that was missing at the Cotton House for a solo traveller, was staff in the bar area for coffees or evening drinks. The poor receptionist had to run through from her desk to serve! But I suppose most guest's are out enjoying Budapest's nightlife!

Other than that it's a great city , clean , nice helpful people.

The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, but it didn't meet my expectations. The room was noisy (rubbish truck crushing rubbish on the first night), and the room was tired and basic. The bathroom had been recently renovated, but they'd chosen style over comfort and installed a shower that you have to hold yourself .. Not very practical. The breakfast and basement it was served in was nice, but for me it didn't make up for the inadequacies of the room.

Trevligt hotell med gammal atmosfär. Lugn miljö.Torrt bröd till frukosten, som i övrigt var bra. Rekommenderas om man vill ha en avkopplad semester.

Et ok hotel til overnatning og ikke mere end det

Alt i alt en ok oplevelse men det lever ikke op til 4 stjerner. Beliggenheden er dog god, tæt på det meste. Indkøbscenter er lige i nærheden og 2-3 min hen til metro, letbane og busser.

Ved ankomst fik vi tildelt værelse nr. 1 som viste sig at ligge lige ud til gade hjørnet hvor der åbenbart var rimelig meget trafik/støj, også om natten kl. 04.00.Så det var ikke meget søvn vi fik første nat og udover det var sengene virkelig hårde. Næste morgen henvendte vi os i receptionen og fortalte dem, at vi var blevet forstyrret mange gange i løbet af natten, her var personalet dog venlige og forsøgte at finde en løsning på trods af, at hotellet næsten var fuldt booket op til nytår.

Vi fik tildelt et nyt værelse også i stuen men på modsatte side så vi nu lå ud til en gård, det var vi som udgangspunkt meget tilfredse med for her var helt stille, hvad vi bare ikke var blevet fortalt var at værelset var koldere end normalt. Da vi så skulle sove var der RIGTIG koldt, så vi måtte igen ud og tale med personalet, som så gav os en mindre radiator vi kunne varme rummet op med, dermed blev dette problem også løst.

Morgenmaden var ok, der var lidt for en hver smag. Rengøringen kunne godt være bedre, der hang støv ned i hjørnerne fra loftet på badeværelset.

Great location and spacious rooms

Cotton House Hotel is located in a central area of Budapest, near WestEnd Shopping mall. The rooms are very charming and spacious. I would definitely recommend staying there for a weekend trip. If i planned a longer trip, i would want more selection at the buffet breakfast - especially for the price. All in all, the hotel was a great find and a lovely place to stay at.

Good location

Location is good! It is not a 4 star hotel. The \"gym\" was looked and full of laundrary and very small. Breakfast good.

Petit-déjeuner très bien.
Chambre sans fenêtre qui peut surprendre mais finalement bien mieux qu'une chambre avec fenêtre dans cette propriété (cause : beaucoup de bruit, pas de volet ni de rideau occultant, pas de double vitrage, pas d'isolation et vue sur un échafaudage).
Personnel ok mais pas très avenant
Sur 5 jours, problème d'eau chaude durant 3 jours, au moins le froid ça réveille et s'est bon pour éviter les courbatures.

Otelin konumu ulaşıma oldukça yakın, otel odaları çok iyi dekore edilmiş nostaljik bir havası vardı bayıldım. Otelin kahvaltısı daha iyi olabilirdi bir puanı ordan kırıyorum. Konaklama dışında artı olarak çıkış yaparken şehir vergisi alıyorlar ekstra olarak. Çalışanlar ilgili ve sizin her sorunuza içtenlikle cevap veriyorlar.

마찜껀물도 꽁싸중. 쓰래끼찌운지 얼마안찌나서 아찜일찍 꽁싸시작. 라스뜨데이 잠깐 무근거라 다행.

까페뜨 때가 쩌러이씀. 끈데 쓰레빠업뜸.
짱쫍꼬 깐썩똥 어디쯤에서 뽄뜻한 3마넌 모뗄 느낌.
끈처에 2마넌정도 차이나는 찐짜 쪼은호뗄 이떠요.
고풍이라면 고풍스러운데 쩔때 따씨는 안깔뜻..
쩐화끼는 이쁨.

Okej hotell med trevlig personal

Personalen var mycket trevlig och hjälpsam. Alla pratade bra engelska. Hotellet i övrigt var okej, men priset var alldeles för högt i förhållande till hotellets standard. Air conditioning funkade inte så personalen försåg mig med en fläkt istället. Dubbelsängen bestod av två enkelsängar bredvid varandra, vilket medförde en skarv mellan sängarna som inte var så skön att ligga på. Sängarna var hårda men gick att sova på. Duschen bestod av ett duschbås med ett frustrerande vrede där det tog en evighet att ställa in en rimlig vattentemperatur. Handdukstorken var dammig. Det fanns ingen helfigursspegel. Inredningen var lite trött. Städningen var, förutom handdukstorken, utan anmärkning. Frukosten var helt okej med standardutbudet. Receptionen skulle vara bemannad dygnet runt men när jag skulle checka ut kl. 5:40 fanns ingen där. Efter 10 minuters väntan var jag tvungen att gå till min taxi så jag lämnade bara min nyckel och gick.

Ja vi sjekket inn og fikk rom og fin parkering i p-hus mot betaling. Dessverre var rommet uten vinduer så veldig rart uten rømningsvei. Frokosten var veldig bra. Betjeningen var hyggelig. Vi brukte 15 minutter inn til byen til fots det var helt greit.

立地とスパバス付きだったのでこちらに宿泊しました。立地は駅近くですし、観光するにも徒歩で行けて便利です。ホテルは外観は工事中のようで分かりませんでしたが、室内はおしゃれなブティックホテルといった感じです。
バスローブ、スリッパはありませんでしたが、お値段相応だと思います。
不満が3点あります。1つ目は、せっかくスパバス付きにしたのに、お湯がとてもぬるい！身体は温まりません。身体は冷えました。これではスパバス付きの意味がありません。とても不満です。
2つ目は、朝食の時間が遅い。7:30からです。日曜ならまだわかりますが、平日でも7:30です。
3つ目は、タオルの少なさ。足マット、バスタオル、、と、フェイスかハンドタオル。の3枚のみ。フェイスとハンドて普通一緒ですか？私は1人宿泊なので、2人分セットされてれば、せめて我慢できました。通常、1人宿泊でも2人分タオルは置いてあることが多いです。
以上です。大変不満でした。

Hyggeligt hotel i roligt område

Dejligt hotel. Værelserne har forskellig størrelse og nogle er uden vinduer. Gode senge. Vi boede i stuen lige ud til vejen men var slet ikke generet af trafik. Stille kvarter

Malgré une double isolation phonique, le bruit de la rue surtout des fêtards, empêche de bien dormir.
Pour la chambre 22 la sdb est très petite et inconfort des toilettes.
Superbe salle voutée pour la restauration. Pdj correct avec laitage allemand de bonne facture.
Personnel accueillant et disponible
Placé non loin de la gare, proche du centre ville.
