Nice hotel, room and breakfast. Decentralized area, so generally quiet, but involved 10-15 min walk to the nearest metro station. Good if you like a nice spring walk. Cleanliness a plus, comfortable beds and great inhouse gym/spa facility. Convenient connection to airport (20 min) via Bolt. Very good overall.

Insufficient staff in the restaurant in the evening, limited menu, with a few items not available on one occasion. Mesh to room window damaged so insects were getting into the room when window was open. This was reported and fixed the same day. Safe didn’t work, had to get reception to come and reset it.
Reasonable breakfast, rooms serviced each day, reasonable sized rooms. Fitness room is nice, but static bike did not work, which was reported.

Courteous and knowledgeable staffers in the front desk. Rooms are clean and maintained daily. Very good selection of food, salads, bread pastries coffees and juices in the breakfast buffets that came with my 16 days stay in the hotel and great staff in the breakfast restaurant. Quiet surroundings. Easy to call for taxis. I’ll stay here again in the future.

We stayed here for a 4 nights because of the F1 race in Hungary.
Pros:
Breakfast was included and fantastic! Great variety of foods and the staff was so friendly helpful.
Has a cool roof top bar with okay views of the city
Internet was fast and reliable

Cons:
The room is exactly like it’s pictures but is a bit smaller than it appears.
This seems to be a bit of an older property so things like the AC and shower seem a bit outdated and didn’t work great
Biggest issue was the cleanliness where all the towels we got had weird stains on them. And the bedding just felt scratchy and unpleasant to sleep on. The pillows were very sorry excuses.
The property is about 2 km (12 min walk) to the closest metro which connects you to the city. As well as 12 min walk to stores like fast food. The hotel Itself is in a dead zone with nothing around it.
There is a bus which never showed up for us. And the walk includes a very dark and deserted bike lane that seemed a bit scary at night.

The hotel and the room specifically looked really nice on the photos, however in real life they didn't hold out to a 4-star hotel at all. No protective cover under the sheet, the mattress was sinking, multiple stains of all sizes on the carpet floor and the ceiling. The only good was the shower and toilet, they were very clean. Breakfast was alright, had some vegan options like a variety of fresh vegetables and vegan milk was available too (had to ask for it at the bar). In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend this hotel and wouldn't stay there again myself.

I booked this stay due to the room having a bathub and a spa department.

I was however quite disappointed entering a room with two single beds and a shower. Calling the reception to sort this out, the receptionist was not helpful. He plainly disregarded the situation and stated this was an issue between me and Hotels.com. The minibar was empty, not even a bottle of water and the bathrobes had to be collected in the reception. The aircondition was loud and blowing straight onto the bed. Had to be turned off during night.

During the first evening I went to the reception to speak with the receptionist directly. Again the receptionist was dismissive and not looking to find a solution or be helpful. I had to hand him the solution; to be transferred to another room when available, as this was not what I had paid for. The next night I was transferred. However, the carpet in this new room was filthy with huge stains, the air condition situation was the same.

As for the breakfast, it's ok if you're good with pre fabricated and processed food. The spa department was not much better. No lockers, and basically no place to secure your stuff or card while in the sauna or shower. The saunas in general were good.

Situated about 15 min walk and 15 min train ride out of the city centre, this hotel is not worth the money. Ending my vacation here was a huge disappointment.

Hotel is quite nice, immaculately clean and very friendly staff in the restaurant/ bar.
In my opinion the beds were not very comfortable, very hard and probably cheap mattresses. Bathroom and showers were very nice and the rooms overall were nice.
Hotel is not in the best of area’s but taxi’s are cheap enough (download the bolt app) and book thru that for guaranteed pricing.

The best thing about this property was the view from sky bar. We also asked for a high room for the views. We booked for my husbands 50th, the sky bar was open when we got there on 18/1/20. Then we were told closed on the Sunday (his birthday) and the Monday. Reception told us these times were advertised. There was a poster in the lift giving happy hour times EVERY night. They had a dog running about (I’m sadly allergic). They blocked the fire escape on 12th floor with chairs from a conference, for days! The fire alarm went off one night after ten pm then another morning at 8am. The hotel aren’t responsible for people setting off alarm but they are for folks on the 12 floor using sauna facilities that can’t escape the building! Pics online show a hot tub, they are old, there isn’t one. To be fair that was guests photos. We went to “spa” one night and had to call reception to switch facilities on! The steam room and sauna were freezing The man wasn’t happy to turn them on either. What could be a lovely hotel, I didn’t car about small walk to train, the facilities were good. It’s the management of those facilities that was poor. Reception staff great. Our tv didn’t work either. A man came and checked it and said it would be fixed next day.... it wasn’t :(

i arrive at 22 by taxi to this hotel. pur communication when i arrive late and information about advantages for me to eat at that time. i ask options near for me to go and eat and they told me that nothing near is open. very desipoit it .than i want to use the hot tub or jacuzzi on the top floor and it was closed after 22 . i went back to see if i can get opportunity to use it that night and they open it for me . i use it for 2 min the jacuzzi , because it have a strong small that can allow me to focus of my moment and the program of the Jacuzzi have been not work properly well.

Quiet, comfortable hotel

I had a pleasant five-night stay here. While the public transport is either distant (15 min walk to Pillango Utca station) or infrequent (bus 10 runs on the hour, from memory), and the rooms show some subtle signs of age, the staff are quite friendly and the rooms are spacious. If you are staying for a while and enjoy a morning walk, this place is quite suitable for tourism! Taxis can be picked up from Örs Vezér Tere at night.

About the room I have to say that it was OK, but about location this hotel has very strange location. Not only far from city center but also far away from the nearest metro station, almost 1 km. Moreover, I could not sleep very well in this hotel as it is located close to the railway, very noisy. But the room was clean and daily cleaning services was ok. I cannot recommend this hotel to those that want to be in the center. I chose the option of city center location on hotels.com website and I did not think that the nearest metro station is such far, i should have checked it.

this is a soviet era hotel build next to the exhibition centre, in the middle of nowhere. rooms are nice, large and sound proof. still there is a lot of soviet taste, and those nostalgic of this are would like it. Sadly there are only two bars. one on the restaurant ground floor that closes at 22.00. the other one on the top, at 12 floor, closes at 01.00. but also is close every sunday and monday. very bad for a 4 star hotel.

The bigest problem is a transport to hotel. The only transport is bus No. 10 and the schedule of transport in changing every day. When we came from airport the metro M3 wasn't working, and the last bus No 10 also didn't came, so I have big problem to come at a hotel. First day I was thinking to change a hotel but after that I decide to stay and to pay for the breakfast for all days. The breakfast was really very good, little bit over price.

Has potential but...

One of our travel party was assaulted by another guest when he barged into her room and threatened to hit her and her 12 year old son. The Hotel was not willing to do anything and tried to charge our friend when they moved her to another room. She was told by the Manager that it was probably her fault for talking on the phone too loud. There's NO EXCUSE for physical or mental assault.
As for the rest of the hotel; initial check-in seemed fine until we realized that our room keys kept resetting so we kept having to have them re-programmed. Bathroom was very nice with modern amenities however the shower head was loose and kept falling on our heads which was sore so we had to tape it in place. The breakfast had a good selection and the dinner was good although the menu is limited and the service is very unfriendly. There is a sky bar which is very nice however again the service lets it down with unfriendly bar staff. Location is further from the city center, and the area is run down. Parking lot is in disrepair with no marked spots so everyone parks randomly. Our vehicle was boxed in by carelessly parked tour buses and we were told to drive through the adjacent park over the grass etc. in order to vacate.
Overall the Expo Congress Hotel has good amenities however all of the staff let it down. The staff are frequently rude and do not seem to want to help. The restaurant staff were a better by the end of the trip when they saw us frequently.

Not quite sold on 4* but it was okay.

This was a pretty nice looking hotel. We stayed on the 8th floor (of 12) with a nice spacious room, which can also be adjoined with another if going as a bigger party.

The cleaning service was a little lacklustre as toiletries weren't fully replaced, the same for toilet rolls.
The soap dispenser in our room was broken. It looked like the casing was lightly placed only for it to fall off when we used it.
The radiator/towel rail didn't work.

There is a nice, decent selection for breakfast.w with lovely pastries. However, one day was quite meat-heavy and that was a bit much. I understand most of Budapest is like that, but the hotel should have mixed it up a little.

The location was a bit away from the city, but we knew about that before staying. The 100 bus outside the hotel can take you to the nearest Metro (Pillango Utca) but it's an hourly service!

Overall, it was an okay stay. If you're happy to catch a taxi back from central or walk 15-20min from the Metro then go ahead as it was pretty nice to be at that hotel. Maybe we got a bad room with a few off days.

This was just used as a place to stay at the end of a two week vacation after returning the rental car that was close to the airport. It is nothing fancy it is about 0.75 miles to a subway station which we walked to. It is about 20 minutes from the Budapest airport.

15 minute walk from the Metro and bus stop right outside hotel. Breakfast every morning was great and could be crowed sometimes. Mac/ATM right outside Hotel. Hotel's location seems to be in a safe area and has good views from upper floors of historic sites at night.

OK Hotel but well outside city centre

I booked this hotel thinking it was closer to Budapest city centre than it was, I should have checked on google maps first as it is on an exhibition site, with really nothing else around it, no restaurants shops, anything really. It is a 15-20 minute walk to the metro which you can catch to the city centre, which is fine if you are up for a walk.
The hotel has good breakfast service which is the best thing about it. We were on the 7th floor so had good views from the window of the city. The room was large with avery good walk in shower in the bathroom. The housekeeping service was average, sheets and towels were changed but the floor was never cleaned, the tea and coffee was never replaced, and when I asked wor water bottles an opened one was bought to the room! They also had a fridge which never worked and according to other guests theirs didn't either! I wa When I asked why they didn't work i was told by reception that it was just to keep the beer from getting hot, not to act as a chiller, needless to say I didn't sample the beer from the \"fridge/cupboard\", personally I like it to be chilled, especially at the prices from a mini bar! There is a skybar, which has a good view but is very small, and I think 3 pieces of fitness equipment. Personally i do not think it rates the 4 stars it says, it was adequate for an overnight travel stop, but if you are looking for a hotel to visit Budapest I would pick one in the city centre.

absolutely satisfied, I would go back

Very nice, clean rooms, very fast wifi, delicious foods.
My only problem was that in the fitness room the machines were out of order.
