Our 15‑day Egypt trip ended with a disappointing stay at Oriental Rivoli Hotel in Sharm El Sheikh (March 11–15, 2026). We arrived at 1:30 a.m. and were greeted by a rude, unprofessional receptionist. The first room, 2262, was clearly used: unmade bed, beer glasses, and towels on the floor. It also had one bed instead of the two we reserved. The receptionist insisted no two‑bed rooms were available and told us to “just stay” in the used room. After nearly an hour of back‑and‑forth and being shown an inferior room in the back, we were finally given Room 2261—which did have two beds, proving availability the whole time.
For our second booking (initially for three people), our third traveler couldn’t come. We asked to adjust the reservation since it was “pay at the hotel,” but the receptionist refused and told us to deal with Expedia at 2:30 a.m. He still charged us for three people and gave us three towel keys. Minutes later, he demanded we return one key because only two guests were staying. At 2:45 a.m., he even sent the bellhop to retrieve it. We refused since we were still being charged for three.

Our 15‑day Egypt trip with friends and family ended with a stay in Sharm El Sheikh at the Oriental Rivoli Hotel from March 11–15, 2026. We had reserved three rooms through Expedia. Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel left a very bad taste at the end of what had otherwise been an amazing Cairo/Nile Cruise vacation.
We arrived at the hotel at 1:30 a.m. and were greeted by an unprofessional and rude receptionist.
1.First Room Issue
The bellhop took us to Room 2262, which was clearly used an unmade, slept‑in bed, glasses of beer on the credenza, and bath towels on the floor. On top of that, the room had only one bed even though we reserved a room for two people.
When we asked for another room, the receptionist immediately said they had no rooms with two beds available and insisted we stay in the used room. He kept saying “It’s okay, what’s wrong?”
What do you mean what’s wrong? The room was used.
He told us to “check the room, and if we didn’t like it, come back.” This was an unreasonable request. They then took us to a room in the back of the hotel that was clearly below standard—now we understood why he wanted us to “check it first.”
After almost an hour of haggling with the receptionist, exhausted at this point, we finally asked for a room with one bed instead. When we arrived at Room 2261 right next to the original used room it shockingly had two beds. So after all that arguing and the receptionist rudely insisting there were no two‑bed rooms available.

It is a good place to stay close to everything the beaches are acceptable the liquor is made in Egypt the food quality is five out of 10 the sweets are 8 out of 10, The place needs updating but it is acceptable so all in all it’s a good place to stay.

Not the best budget hotel stay

A very average hotel.
Room was clean but the water in the shower had a lot of sand in it and it was brown in color.
Staff are friendly.
Breakfast was very poor - 4 pieces of different bread with 1 plain croissant and some feta cheese along with cucumber and tomatoes every day.
Omelet station is fine.
The bed is average for comfort.

Overall experience, for the money paid is fine.

Great Location & Great Hotel

Very nice hotel, the food was tasty, great selection for breakfast and reasonably priced for dinner also. Only problem is that there was no WiFi in the bedrooms, so be aware of that. Besides that, I cannot really fault the hotel. The location was brilliant and a short taxi ride or even walk to Neama Bay. Will be staying here again, when I visit Sharm in the future.

Good hotel if you don't stay in it all day

My friend and me were visiting another friend of mine who is working in sharm so we were looking for a good value for money hotel as we did not want to spend too much time there. However we were glad we were able to use our friends hotel facilities for the week as we were not too happy with the Oriental.

Apart from the dirty pool area (tissues, beer, dirty fake grass carpet), old sun beds and Russian radio playing all day there was no consistency in the hotel. Some members of stuff such as the kitchen staff, restaurant manager and cleaner were extremely friendly, the reception is a mess. We asked for a late check out which they offer but I called them about three times the day before and needed to ask on the same day at 8am in the morning again without any clear answer.

They were also unable to provide a second room key ( which is pretty basic). On the day we checked out ( they finally allowed us to have a late check out) we were on our way to the taxi when they asked us to wait so they could check the room, which took about 15 minutes. We explained our taxi was waiting and they did not inform us beforehand so we would have made other arrangements.

We were not happy with the reception service at all, bearing that in mind the hotel was ok as we only slept there.

We cannot commend on the breakfast either as we only ate twice our of seven days there.

Egypt at it's best

I read reviews of this Hotel and heard alot of complaints.I have never been treated better the staff here were friendly and always willing to help.my room was always clean and Hagag was friendly and kind. The only thing I would change would be to make it all inclusive for those of us from the west.
I am Douglas Martin from Canada and I will recomend this Hotel to everyone I know.

Very polite and helpful staff.
The receptionist Tamer is an incredibly helpful and welcoming fellow.

I think they should change the manager, he isn't quite a people person, which is not ideal for a customer service based job.

Other than that, all of the other staff were very sweet, professional, and organized.
Everything I asked for was serviced to me immediately with professionalism and a smile.

A very nice overall experience

We chose this hotel based heavily on reviews from others, never been to Sharm before. I have been a Chef for 27 years, last 5 years as Exec. Chef on Cruise ships. I travel to more countries in a month than most people do in 10 years so I know what I am looking for. Positives: Easy walking distance to Naama bay, hotel staff excellent not too intrusive, 3 great swimming pools, free wifi, small 24/7 supermarket (cheap), currency exchange (good rates), pharmacy etc at your front door. Sunshine, cloudless skies, 38 degrees daily. Negatives: Taxi drivers are disgraceful! Negotiate hard, ensure you say \"total price\" before getting in. They negotiate a price then ask for a tip or pay parking at airport etc at the end. The Beach is across the road. You will be descended upon by all sorts of \"sellers\" but they left you alone if requested. Best advice is NEVER pay the first price you are given for ANYTHING, always be prepared to walk away, SOMEONE will sell it to you somewhere. Alcohol is overpriced, we brought in whatever we wanted to eat and drink. We tried to be fair & buy things at the hotel some days. Soho square is excellent, far better than Naama Bay. An overall \"4\" rating, we really enjoyed our 10 days but 2 things I did not like at all. 1) On our honeymoon we had 2 single beds pushed together, on wheels and moved apart, I REALLY HATE THIS in any hotel, 2) The food overall at the hotel was quite disappointing and I could not recommend it. Fiyat performans açısından 10/10 yemekler çok iyiydi türklere %90 uyan yemekler beyaz peynir yoğurt vb bize uygun çok yiyecek var ana yemekler dünya yemekleri o yüzden asla zorlanmadık odalar çok iyi değildi malesef ama biz sürekli tura gittiğimiz için otel tatili yapmadık ama hijyen açısından hiç problem olmadı çalışanlar çok sıcak içten . Tabi daha fazla ücret vererek balkonlu bi oda alabilirdik ama biz uygun olması açısından böyle seçtik. Oteli seçmemizin asıl sebebi merkeze en yakın otellerden olduğu için şarmda taksi büyük sorun o yüzden mutlaka merkeze yakın bir otel olmalı hersey için teşekkürler

Buona posizione in 2°fila, ma pessimo accesso alla spiaggia. Spiaggia convenzionata affollata (conviene prenotare in anticipo il ticket di accesso), ma con mare fantastico per snorkeling poco lontano dalla riva. Stessa cosa per la seconda spiaggia convenzionata, all' altro estremo di Naama Bay e raggiungibile con navetta gratuita.
Menu molto limitato e monotono, di qualità medio/bassa.
Servizi buoni, personale disponibile, ma occorre sempre chiedere quanto dovrebbe essere scontato (es. asciugamani).
Belle le piscine, di cui una riscaldata, e le camere.

Sono appena rientrato da una settimana di soggiorno in questo villaggio. C’è da dire che la posizione è eccellente davvero, villaggio grande e molto carino, l’hotel mette due spiagge a disposizione e quella che consiglio io è la più vicina raggiungibile a piedi (5min MAX) ombrelloni e lettini ottimi, mare strepitoso con sabbia, sassi a tratti e barriera corallina pazzesca piena di pesci. Personale molto disponibile, accogliente e solare, buona comunicazione in Italiano. Ho riscontrato due pecche importanti: il cibo ragazzi purtroppo non ci siamo proprio, i primi due giorni sembrava discreto ma nei giorni successivi è andato peggiorando e a volte facevamo fatica a trovare qualcosa da mangiare (ma da quel che ho sentito è un problema di TUTTI i villaggi di sharm, quindi amen) il secondo è la pulizia della stanza, in particolare il fatto che in 7 giorni non sono mai state cambiate le lenzuola, però nel complesso pavimento e bagno ok. Mi sento comunque di consigliare questo villaggio seppur con qualche nota stonata, ho conosciuto persone splendide che soggiornavano qui e sicuramente se dovessi tornare a Sharm tornei volentieri al Rivoli. Spero di essere stato utile.

Hotel bello, camere tipiche e grandi con arredamento orientale, materasso davvero comodo, stanza pulitissima. Personale gentile e cortese, camerieri sorridenti.
Lati meno soddisfacenti:
Buffet vario e abbondante ma la cucina non rispecchia le stelle dell'hotel. Cibo ripetitivo e la mangiabilità purtroppo andava a giornate: abbiamo vissuto 2 settimane a riso in bianco e pollo e molte volte neppure il riso era mangiabile (senza sale, scotto, con cannella) e pollo asciutto o troppo speziato.
Animazione inesistente: del programma di animazione settimanale tutte le attività diurne non sono mai state fatte, neppure Minidisco. Spettacoli serali di 35 minuti a ora di cena in uno spazio piccolo in mezzo al passaggio tra un buffet e l'altro. Si può quindi pensare che ci si potesse rilassare in piscina ma no: si veniva letteralmente assaliti dai venditori di escursioni o della spa.
L'insistenza con cui alcuni lavoratori pretendevano la mancia per un servizio che comunque era già stato pagato è davvero vergognosa!
Fuori dall'hotel sporcizia e plastica abbandonata ovunque. La strada per andare in spiaggia era una discarica a cielo aperto: puzzolente con immondizia ovunque. Plastica anche in spiaggia, persino dentro al mare cristallino (facendo snorkeling ho trovato un calzino,filo interdentale oltre che bottiglie e borsedi plastica) ma anche in mezzo al deserto o sul monte Sinai. La colpa non è sempre dei turisti! Paesaggi stupendi e mare da favola ma uno schifo a livello di inquinamento!

Vacanza di coppia dal 24 al 1 luglio presso hotel rivoli. Siamo stati accolti molto bene, check in veloce, personale cordiale e simpatico che parla italiano. La camera fronte piscina molto carina, molto pulita. Cambiano giornalmente asciugamani e teli mare. Al ristorante si trova di tutto, si mangia discretamente. Buona la colazione. Un grazie speciale al responsabile del ristorante Sayid, veramente gentile, disponibile e molto simpatico!
Presso lhotel si possono prenotare escursioni a prezzi modici.
È stata una bella vacanza !

Niente di speciale, molto datato, non so se per colpa della peste COVID o per l'organizzazione, comunque ci vuole parecchio tempo per sistemare l'hotel.Per me, come mentalità egiziana è rimasta ferma a 20 anni fa, pensano che il turista sia un pollo da spennare, ma si sbagliano, in primis nell'hotel ho trovato poca informazione e cortesia.

Het eten is echt top en de bediening is super vriendelijk en attent. Kamers zijn okay. Sanitair mag beter met meer waterdruk en warm water.
Het entertainment team is druk met iedereen vermaken. Leuk voor kinderen.
Er is WiFi maar géén internet en niemand die daar iets aan doet want ze hebben allemaal een data-abonnement op hun mobiel. Advies, regel een data bundel want WiFi en internet in slecht in Sharm El Sheik.

We were guests of the hotel from January 5th to 12th. We booked and paid for a vacation package which included the flight and hotel on expedia. upon check in, the receptionist (AMR EL SHARAT)cannot find the reservation and keeps us in her office for at least 2 hours trying to understand why. all with a bad professionalism. when everything seems to have resolved the next day he calls us at the reception saying that we would have to pay € 124 again, which would have been the difference between the expedia booking and a local travel agency called \"sun travel\". shocked by this, we say that being a package booked and paid for by credit card, it was not for us to pay the difference.At this point with great difficulty we try to contact the expedia customer service in Italy who replies that we are waiting for their final email.In short, this receptionist for the next few days, almost until the end of the holiday, every time he saw us in recepion he kept asking us for money as if we hadn't paid, making us seem in front of other customers at fault.He is certainly the least suitable person to do this job. It should have been a vacation and it wasn't thanks to him. Luckily there are other people who do an exceptional job like TIZIANA at the reception, OLGA and JOSEPH as regards the animation who helped us a lot and made us spend unforgettable moments. For this we thank them very much and I must say that I would come back only for them. thanks TIZIANA, OLGA and JOSEPH.
