I arrived around 6 pm but the room was not ready. The receptionist tried to bully me into going to dinner first to cover the fact that the room was not ready. When I asked why the room was not ready the manager came and offered a room upgrade. The upgraded room was lousy and I can not imagine what would the original room would be like. The next morning I wanted to go to the beach. I saw the listed shuttle schedule and I timed my self to catch the 9;30am shuttle. I got there a few minutes early and asked one of the employees if this is the shuttle going to beach and he confirmed. When I arrived at the beach I was refused entry because I did not have a ticket. No body mentioned that I need to get a ticket to enter the beach. I took a look at the beach and was not worth going to any way.

Too many security guys interrogating any body who look non European. The reception area is tiny with malfunctioning currency change machine. Food of average quality but most of the guests are the kind of tourists who look like they never seen food before and who never miss a meal.

The hotel is perfectly situated for a relaxing holiday but close enough to the vibrant city centre. The staff are incredible and go over and above anything I’ve experienced before.

Thoroughly enjoyed this trip despite sleazyjets best efforts to ruin it.

Stayed for 5 nights, Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I felt very comfortable staying at the hotel.
Breakfast buffet: lots of choice for cereals, breads, pastries, and my favourite is live cooking such as omelettes, fried eggs, pancakes to order.
Dinner buffet: lots of choice for meats and vegetarian, live cooking Pasta for children.

Staffs are working very hard to maintain garden and keep pool area clean.

However, there are some areas that need to be improved: the bath room requires a renovation, in my room the shower tray is very small no space to move around, to get hot water for showering is to keep it running for a while before it get hot.
Wi-Fi is very poor and only available at reception area.

Hotel has a free minivan, every 1 hour from hotel to the beach & VV. you will require to get a voucher from receptionist for free desk chair on the beach.

Hotel/Beach: 1st transfer is at 0830, the last one is at1430. Beach/Hotel: 1st transfer is at 0845-1445 and the last transfer is at 1630.
Note that a minivan is base on first come first served basis can take max 12paxs 1 seat in front with the driver.

Overall I did enjoy and felt safe staying at Solymar Naama Bay.
Definitely will stay here again.

Stay at Solymar for COP27- NBI team, South Africa

In November 2022, our team travelled to Sharm el Sheikh for COP27 and booked accommodation at Solymar with only criteria: we had a lot of work to do and we needed somewhere comfortable, clean to stay.

After a rocky start, we learned that this hotel's priority is to ensure that guests feel valued and that their stay is a pleasant one. By the time we left, we felt like we were part of the Hotel Solymar family.

As 6 women travelling alone, we felt completely safe and respected in this space. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating and responded to our concerns swiftly.

The kitchen and dining areas are clean and the buffet is excellent. The restaurant is extremely well managed and the chefs and bakers make and serve their food with care. We stayed for nearly 3 weeks and no-one in our team got sick from the food. We looked forward to coming "home" each evening to dinner. Fresh fruit and vegetables, juices and ice are all washed with/made with clean water.

While we heard horror stories from COP27 delegates staying at other hotels with regards to inflated prices, we felt the pricing for transport and accommodation at Solymar was fair and services rendered were delivered at the expected level of quality.

There is also a good doctor on standby at the hotel 24/7 which was very convenient as one on our team needed medical assistance.

Overall we had a fantastic stay at this hotel and it made the hard work at COP27 more enjoyable. Thank You for taking care of us!

Staff lovely. Rooms pretty basic - hot shower, TV and Aircon all there.Balcony views wonderful. Noise from aircons runnings and sometimes music around the pool and nearby hotel music into the night, did disturb my sleep over a number of nights. If you need internet, it's not good - ask the reception for help. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all in - and first class. Pool area (aside from non stop music) really lovely. Hotel surroundings absolutely lovely. Aside from very poor internet (if you need it) basic rooms and night music noise, I would recommend Solymar.

The staff was very helpful and responsive. The rooms were large. There is a nice swimming pool on the property. The hotel is very close (walking distance) to a lot of good restaurants, cafes, and shopping.

The hotel is far from beach and Main areas but they offer shuttles every 30 mins to the beach. Everyone was super friendly and always checking on you to see if there is anything you would need.

Staff and food were exceptionally exquisite. Friendly and polite staff members that did everything to make us feel at home. Food was amazing. Lots of options and the taste was superb. I have been to more than 30 different resorts in that area and I have to take my hat off to the cooks there. Not only did we have lots of options but also the quality and the taste were excellent.

Room - Good AC. Comfortable bed. Rather dingy bathroom. Huge mound of dirty laundry outside our door for 3 days, and room service dirty dishes outside the neighbor's door for 2 days.
Property - Thumping music until 11pm. Not good for divers who have to get up early in the morning. Pool was nice; swim-up bar was nice.
Staff - At first very nice, but I was quite upset when I was in line after a local woman, and a local man came up and simply interrupted her when she was talking to the receptionist. He just cut right in front as if we didn't matter! I won't stand for that, so I intervened, saying "Excuse me, this lady is being helped, and then I'm next. You need to get in line. [And to the receptionist] Why would you allow him to do that? We are here first." The lady thanked me, and the receptionist apologized. But I was disappointed that the receptionist would show such disrespect, and I couldn't help but wonder if it was because we were women. There was one other example of sexism, but I can't recall now.
Food - Breakfast was included and was very good. But go early or you will be in a sea of families. Not a terrible thing, but some parents weren't minding their children very well, and the kids made huge messes or were loud and obnoxious. Kids will be kids, but parents should be parents.
Overall - Price was excellent. I might stay there is I have to again because of the price, but there are lots of other options.

It is an old hotel but well maintained. Room was too spacious with two balconies. Furniture needs upgrading especially the mattress. No kettle or ion available in room. Hair dryer available on demand. Lobby is small and busy all the time. There is one pool only and rather small. Restaurant is very big and clean.
The staff was more than excellent and helpful all the time. Each and every one of them was ready to help.
Internet is available at the pool and at reception only. Very slow and usually not working.
Breakfast was good. But i found it strange to see the chef wondering around at the restaurant all the time trying to mingle with guests. Also, for the staff to have their breakfast along with the guests and sometimes having loud conversations. Few of them even sat around for a cup of tea.
One thing I found annoying who others might find good is the loud music played at the pool. And by loud I mean CRAZY LOUD. And it is usually for six hours a day starting 10 AM till 11 PM. Make sure to
Book a non pool view room if you want to avoid this.

Overall, we loved the hotel;the rooms were very nice, clean and comfortable. Most of the hotel staff were very friendly except fir the front desk. We didn’t have a pleasant experience with the front desk manager who took a very long time getting us our room. He kept helping other guests that would stop at the desk and that was really frustrating. We plan on visiting the hotel again but hope to have a better experience with check in.

So this place is very nice and could be a great spot to stay.
However, for us it was a bit of a hassle. On our booking our place said room for two people but for whatever reason the number of guests was changed to 1. We were in a bit of a hurry when booking so didn't notice our mistake.
Unfortunately when we tried to check in they flat out refused us and said that we would have to pay a fee that was higher then our entire booking. It was a long and complicated argument. To their credit they did eventually let us stay and pay a small additional fee for the second person, but even this had to be bargained back and forth. This took about 2 hours of our time when we were already tired and exhausted.
I would say to the hotel, try and always help your guest first and worry about money second. This left a bad first impression and even though we appreciated their help (eventually) everything seemed not as good. We didn't feel like tipping our guy that lead us to the room or the next day cleaning maid as we were only there one night. The roomed seemed inadequate and the breakfast was only OK.

Most of these feelings came from that first experience. The place has a lovely garden and it could have been an excellent stay, but the difficult start made everything seem not as great.

Beautiful hotel and very friendly and accommodatin

We found that the front desk people were great but difficult at times just with one man who didn't quite understand English very well. But all staff we met exspecially Bell Boy who took our luggage to room were all excellent and wanted to be sure we were always happy. Our room was huge with the most amazing view of the ocean. The balcony was huge as well. The gardens were kept well groomed. Everything was excellent!! Would definitely return.

What more can you say about this hotel!

This is our 3rd week at this hotel and there is not much more one can say other than you would be foolish if you don't stay at this hotel in Sharm el sheik. Everyone of the staff treats you with respect and makes you feel right at home. Security is top notch and this hotel defines customer service. Food and beverage can't be beat. Hotel is always keeping everything in mint condition. The animation team led by Mahmoud is outstanding. Khyrat in the restaurant does a great job and is so much fun to be around.

One would be crazy not to stay at this hotel.

From reception to house keeping Sol Y Mar knows what customer service is and provides it everywhere. From the pool staff to the bars to the grounds it has it all. The restarunt/buffet is outstanding food and presentation is great. The entire staff in the restaurant/buffet are amazing and treat you like royality. Everyone very helpful and happy with smiles everywhere. Khaled at the swim up pool bar makes the best pina colada. Make no mistake Sol Y Mar is one place you won't regret

People need to get back here. Security very good and people here outstanding. Have stayed at 2 excellent hotels and Sol Y Mar is top notch. Great food and really care about their customer's. A comfortable walk to beach which is good for everyone however they do provide shuttle service if you so desire. Mahmoud at front desk / reception makes you feel so welcome and is the best.

Great quiet place to relax

I enjoyed my time here and the staff was very friendly. I stayed a week and a half. Too few tourists and way too many employees though. Employees out number guests, but you get used to it. Everyone just kinda knows you and your business.
The shower was a bit of a joke being super tiny, but it got the job done for the price.
Beautiful hotel and the location is great. Just 10 min walk and you're where all the shops and restaurants are. It's a safe place to stay or vacation to. Super cheap. Go for it.
