Great location for sightseeing and a few blocks to train station- this worked well for our day trip to Florence by fast train and walking distance to shopping, the national museum of Rome and short bus or uber ride to all tours and areas we wanted to visit. Quiet hotel great for sleeping. Next time I would request a room with a better view- we faced a wall. We were spoiled by the staff- everyone was very friendly and caring!

The room was a weird, two story duplex? The stairs seemed like a death trap, the tub was super high to get in and out, the room was incredibly hot and you can hear every other guest in the place!

Room, staff and facilities all great at the Universo apart from the noise from the street all night. Our room was at the front on the main street and people were noisy until very late then bins of glass bottles were emptied at around 4:30 so had very little sleep. I would stay again as the location is excellent providing I got a room away from the main street.

I hope they can put a Best Western sign outside, instead they have a big sign 'Universo'.
We tried to ask people and most people doesn't understand English, it took us a long time to find it.

The breakfast was excellent, thoroughly recommend the breakfast.

Hotel is nice but I had some issues:

My first room had a weird fish smell, but they were nice enough to move me to another room. But the next day my key card stopped working and I had to go get another one from the front desk. The following morning I got a wake up alarm call at 5 AM that I definitely didn't set, and when I asked the front desk they had no idea what I was talking about.

It's a nice hotel but I think the people running it are a little clueless.

Staff courteous and room is clean but bathroom is super dated. Soap dispenser is far away from sink causing you to drip and the shower leaked water under the door. The breakfast was mediocre because items were not properly labeled and bread was rather stale. The best part was the location close to train, restaurants and key attractions.

The room was super small. The hotel is located in the are close to termini station and felt unsafe. The cleaning crew didn’t come to clean the room for hours, despite the green card posted on the door. The breakfast was ok, lots of choices, but not a good quality. Additionally, upon checking out, the staff at the front desk requesting the foreign guests ( not Italian guests) to pay tips, made me feel very uncomfortable

This was a great property for traveling with our family of four. We got a family superiors room, which was two separate rooms connected by a private hallway. The staff is fantastic and friendly, and the breakfast was wonderful each morning. The hotel is close to the train station and three are many places to eat nearby. 10/10 recommend.

Very Noisy!
First about the good: the location is great - safe street, walking distance to Roma Termini, front desk staff is amazing - fast check-in and checkout, help with taxi, etc., breakfast buffet has an excellent egg station with a great cook, the room is clean and modern, pillows are good. Water station on the floor is very convenient. Fresh towels are left at the door daily (even with no disturb sign).
Now the bad: we specifically asked for a quieter room but it still was the noisiest I have ever experienced, no sound isolation between rooms - I could hear the guys next door through the wall - every word when they talked on the phone, snore, even burp, etc. The street outside gets metal clanging from deliveries to hotels and restaurants at 2-3 am and 5-6 am non-stop and the closed window does not block the noise. At 6-30 am people start walking to breakfast talking loudly in the hall. Mattress is too soft for comfortable sleep. Only one USB port to charge the phones in the room and it did not work, and front desk did not have any spare converters like in most other hotels.
Warning: In addition to a tax paid in all hotels in Rome, at checkout we learned that there is a mandatory 7 euro per night tip that we did not know about (does not matter that we already left cash tip in the room).

The Room I booked was very small, same size then the bathroom. With a single Bed Room 641( I can sent you Pictures) opened the curtains and had the solid wall in front of my window! Went to the front Desk showed the nice Pictures advertised on Expedia! Ask for different room, with tween bed. No upgrades! Charged me$160.- extra for a regular Room with king size Bed. Poor advertising and Best western Plus could up grade for less! Did Not spent any money in there Restaurant ! Very disappointed in Hotel Universo Front Desk Management !
Regarding Room change and charges ( I paid in chase asap.

The room service is meh. And the hair dryer couldn’t handle two people blowing time. The shower door is old and doesn’t close all the way so water leaks out. But no major unacceptable problem. They let you store the luggage which is great.

The location is close walking distance to Termini station with several dining options close by. We especially liked caffe Washington just steps away.
The room was clean and service was great we had a couple minor issues and they were dealt with immediately.
As far as proximity to the major attractions they are half hour to an hour walk but there are 2 metro stations that were less than 10 minutes away.

We stayed at Best Western Plus Universo for our first trip to Rome. We chose this as it is a trusted brand and very close to Termini station. Our room was very clean and equipped with amenities perfect for our needs, with a lovely balcony view! The property is a bit dated with very obvious signs of age but they are doing a great job maintaining a comfortable stay for their guests! All the staff we met were friendly and helpful! Would stay here again and highly recommend to other travellers looking for convenient location and friendly service!

Very good option to stay in the Monti area in Rome, this is a well kept building hotel with nice modern large space rooms with all the services available, 500 yards away from Roma Termini train station and walkable distances to many attractions including just a 15 minutes walk to the Coliseum, 20 minutes walk to Trevi and a lot of dinning options, went there my wife and I we definitely stay there again

The property is convenient, near the Rome Termini, surrounded with restaurants and convenience stores. However, the front desk does not pick up multiple times when I called. I go down the lobby and no one is at the front desk - all on a break smoking outside. When I checked out, they told me mandatory 3% tip was added on my bill. I was puzzled. Then I overheard another hotel staff saying tip is not mandatory. They need to train their front desk staff to have the same consistent message. Tips are earned, why should that be mandatory?

The spacious room was state-of-the-art with comfortable bedding, great climate control and beautiful bathroom with bathrobes. Breakfast each morning was well worth the Eur 18, with many deliciously prepared options on the buffet. The rooftop restaurant served great food and wine, witha full bar and great views. Staff was helpful. When I return to Rome, I will stay here again.

This was our second time staying here and we were glad we chose it again. The location is great - less than a 10 minute walk to the main train station and to 2 of the hop on hop off bus stops. Lots of restaurants and shopping were right there. Our room was spacious and clean and a very good layout for a couple and an additional adult. The breakfast was fantastic every morning, and they packed a to go breakfast for us on the day we had to be at an early tour. If we ever return to Rome, we’ll stay here again.

This was our second time staying at this hotel. The location is within walking distance to the Fountain, Spanish Steps, and even the Colosseum, although it is a little farther from some attractions. On the plus side, it is very close to the train station, which is the main reason we chose it.

The hotel is clean and spacious. We stayed with three kids in a family room, and it was very comfortable with plenty of space. If you don’t mind walking about 15–20 minutes, I would recommend this hotel. There are also several restaurants and shops nearby, so finding food is convenient. Overall, the area felt clean and safe.
