We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Mango Moon Villa! The hotel is beautiful, and the staff was very warm and always helpful. We wanted to go to the beach and a lovely beach tucked in a cove, Biesanz beach, is a short 25 minute walk from the hotel. We also wanted to go to Manuel Antonio National Park and that was a short 10 minute drive away. There are a number of great eating options close by, and the hotel’s restaurant offers Korean food. One small suggestion for the hotel is to have a shelf or something else that bathroom toiletries can be put on. Otherwise everything was as expected. Thank you to Mango Moon Villa for making our stay very memorable and enjoyable!! 😊

This hotel was extremely disappointing and falsely advertised. The room we booked on Expedia was described as having a queen-size bed, balcony, and separate dining area, but it had none of these. The room was tiny, dirty, smelly, and located directly behind the restaurant kitchen, with loud noise from staff, guests, and a staircase outside our door until 1 a.m. There was no privacy—only a curtain covering the door.

The bathroom was in poor condition, had very low water pressure, and we often had no water at all when the restaurant was using it. Smoke entered the room from outside, and we even encountered roaches. The owner blamed Expedia for the false listing and offered no real help. Due to the holidays, all nearby hotels were sold out, leaving us no choice but to stay. We barely slept and could not shower.

We were refunded only $100, reluctantly. This room should never be rented to guests. I would not recommend this hotel.

The staff and the food and the views were all terrific! We sat on the balcony in the hammock and watched the sunrise and sunset, watched and listened to the birds, were amused by the monkeys. The breakfast was great each morning. Omelette and fresh fruit and yogurt and coffee and juice. Fran, the owner, arranged our excursions and shuttle to the airport. She was wonderful to talk to about life. Her Korean restaurant, carambola was delicious. We ate there several times. Jorge took care of us each evening at the restaurant. He was one of the kindest and gracious people we met. We had a wonderful time there. Family of 3 with a teenager!

Very nice, unique hotel with an amazing view and an absolutely wonderful staff.
The only downside was that the room was musty when we first arrived and required airing out. As well the plumbing requires attention as the water pressure is very low and the temperature can get very hot. I would worry for the safety of younger children.
Besides that, the staff and the view makes this place an A+ stay.

We saw more wildlife at our hotel than we did on our tours! The staff was super friendly and their hotel dog Lucky was very friendly and kept the monkeys honest! I’d stay here again the next time I was in Costa Rica. I can’t imagine them doing anything any better.

The owner is on site and very helpful. The property has amazing views of the jungle with the ocean in the backgeound, visible from I believe every room.
The on site restaurant has Korean and American food, a happy hour, and a very good buffet breakfast, with a gal ready to make you an omlette.
The rooms, garden and pool areas could use a bit more TLC and I believe the owner is working toward that. For a 2 night stay it met our needs, but any longer and we would have needed a larger room. Our bathroom needed some shelf space at least to put your toothbrush on 😁 as an example.
There are monkeys that come through to raid the mango tree, very fun to watch and a few took some banana pieces from me. Very fun!!

We loved our stay here and would stay here if we ever came back!! The rooms aren’t so modern with the furniture and bathroom and towels but it’s charming. We had a balcony that overlooked the ocean and every morning from 530-730 animals were flying around (toucans, macaws, howler monkeys) we even saw a sloth - our hotel was way better than the national park tour we had! The owner is so lovely and warm and willing to offer to help with tours and recommendations. She is so sweet and friendly and has an interesting story (she usually comes around during breakfast and Dinner to make sure you’re enjoying your stay) and even has a Korean restaurant in the hotel which is amazing!! They also have a cute dog lucky on tne property. Hotel is walking distance to all the restaurants and shops. Beach is walkable but is more of a little hike- there are buses however I think for a dollar that are close or taxis that can take you so you don’t have to walk up the hill. They offer towels for the beach at the hotel. Pool is also really nice.

We absolutely loved our stay at Mango Moon Villa. It was a small and quiet place with attentive staff. The buffet breakfast was delicious. The views were incredible. The area is very walkable with many shops and restaurants within 5-15 minutes. There’s also a bus stop 5 minutes up the hill which made local transportation very easy! We’d definitely stay here again!

We had an amazing stay at this charming boutique hotel just outside of Quepos close to the Manuel Antonio Park. It truly embodies a lovely Costa Rican vibe , with its vibrant mango-colored building and mango trees. Our room was on the top level where we could enjoy beautiful rainforest and ocean views and every morning, we could hear the thump thump thump of little feet on the roof and we knew to go outside to enjoy the monkeys, squirrel monkeys and white-faced monkeys right off our balcony with the distant sounds of howler monkeys adding to the experience. We were frequently treated to the sight of macaws , especially during happy hour, which was offered in the excellent restaurant where you could enjoy stunning sunset views and two-for-one drinks. One of the dinners we had was a delicious Korean barbecue cooked at our table and breakfast was exceptional, featuring made-to-order omelettes, fresh fruits, bread, and delicious juices and coffee. There’s a refreshing little pool where you can chill out after a day of touring and enjoy the sounds of the rain forest. The staff is super helpful and friendly and enhanced our stay. We spent five nights here and were so glad we chose this hotel as our home base.

Great hotel and staff! The staff assisted me decorate my room to surprise my now fiance to propose to her to surprise her. And they helped wash my clothes when I made a math error lol of not packing enough for the trip. Outstanding free breakfast every morning as well. Five star experience and I would recommend everybody going to Manuel Antonio or Quepos to stay in this hotel. Pura vida!

My family with 3 kids stayed here recently and loved everything about this charming hotel. Fran and Jake were amazing hosts- helping give ideas about places to visit and things to do (helped book awesome private surf lessons). Walking distance to 2 beaches, breakfast was fresh and wonderful. The restaurant on the premise was delicious- Korean bbq sea eel a must try! On top of all this, we were able to see a ton of animals from our balcony and room: 3 types of monkeys, sloths, toucans, macaws…could not recommend this place more!

There are not enough nice things I can say about Mango Moon Villa! I just spent 6 days there with my family and it was an incredible experience. The ocean views are amazing. You will never get tired of looking at this view. But the staff was probably the best part. They are so nice and willing to help you with anything you need. I chose this hotel because it included the breakfast and wildlife. Having breakfast with the monkeys is an experience I will never forget. We had dinner a couple of times and every meal was delicious. Lastly, you are close to the shopping area. It’s a 5-minute uphill walk to the market, pizzeria, bank, and several shops. Don’t think about it, just book this place already!

I chose this property mostly based on location and proximity to surrounding shops, restaurants and activities. The staff were super friendly and rooms were clean and accommodating for the price and area. A nice breakfast was included too which set me up for the rest of the day. I highly recommend one of the front rooms with private balconies which are usually kept for couples. They offer Korean restaurant too while enjoying the views. For me, the highlight of this property was the spectacular views of the surrounding jungle, the pool below and of course the beautiful Espadilla beach. Local shops and restaurants were all accessible within walking distance and the beach was only a 15 minute bus ride away. I definitely enjoyed my stay there in November and the tropical rain was a charm and didn't stop me from doing lots of walking around and other activities.

We loved the ambiance but hated the clunking noise the happened every 30monutes 24/7 right behind the headboard of our bed. We both came down with the stommach flu the 2nd day andy husband could barelymove for about 18 hours. I would have asked to be moved to a different room if he hadn't been so sick. The veiw was beautiful and the birds. Butterflies and monkeys all around were delightful

The negatives far outweigh the only positive which was free breakfast. It was the noisiest property I’ve stayed in with trucks and motorcycles rumbling from sun up until midnight. Hot water was an issue due to a breaker tripping 3 times in 2 days. The pool was closed due to maintenance There wasn’t a hair dryer in the room. The room definitely was not worth the high price I paid - $220 per night

The most incredible views, situated in nature, overlooking nature and the sea. (Seriously, you'll never find better views anywhere.) Great staff. Easy to get to Manuel Antonio by bus or car. Lots of nearby restaurants etc.
The only recommendation for the owners we have is to replace (or even just remove) a few pieces of furniture that have seen better days.

We stayed here with our three boys for four nights this past week and had the best vacation we have ever had. The owner and staff were great and treated us like family. They ordered us transportation to and from the hotel when needed which was very helpful. The restarant and bar area are 5 stars in our opinion. We saw monkeys, sloths, and wild birds all week from our balcony. I wish I had gotten all the staff names, but Liliana and Jorge were awesome! We plan to visit again for sure very soon. Troy

Mango Moon is a property that has a beautiful view of the ocean. The wildlife around is amazing! We saw up close multiple groups of different monkeys, beautiful birds including scarlet macaws, agoutis and more. The chef was not there during our stay so our dining options were limited. The property is a little older but clean. The staff are very accommodating. The location is close to the park as well as a small supermarket, restaurants and shops.

Room form photos looks like it had a balcony however it is just a walkway that people pass in front of. The Door to the hotel room was a sliding glass door without a standard Handle and lock. For safety you had to leave your key in the lock while inside incase there was an emergency and you needed to exit quickly. It just made it complicated for one person to be inside with the door locked and another try to get back in.

Love the Wildlife at the hotel!! Vultures, parrots and monkeys!

The Hotel states it is walkable, however the street is very narrow and busy, didn't feel safe walking, Taxi fees added up.

Wonderful family operation, friendly, helpful staff, amazing view with lots of wildlife surrounding the hotel. From our door we spotted toucans, macaws, agouti, three types of monkeys, to mention a few. The owner is warm and welcoming. There is a delightful pool overlooking the jungle and ocean. We can’t imagine a lovelier place to stay. It is also very convenient to stores, a very natural beach, and restaurants. There is also a great highly rated Korean style restaurant on premises.

Mango Moon is in a great location with a great view.

It's the staff that takes it to the next level. You will see the same folks everyday, they all are upbeat and welcoming, a culture within Mango Moon that felt more like home than a small hotel.

The hotel itself is pretty quiet being only 10 rooms. Our room was more than what we expected and the stay was even better.

Wildlife was abundant with howler monkeys to cans and parrots around everyday.

Loved our stay there and hope to be back again sometime soon.

The staff were marvelous. The were friendly, patient and attentive. The owner is often on site and is a pleasure to chat with along with his faithful companion “Lucky” a local rescue dog that is as sweet as the local fresh fruit laid out for breakfast every morning. (Jake, what is that breakfast seed/nut muesli that was available for breakfast? I can’t find it anywhere but I loved it accompanied with yogurt.)

Our time there truly felt like a second home to us with the small number of villas and the open air spaces, amazing views and foliage coupled with the friendliness of the staff. It was all very personal if you want it to be, just be friendly with the staff and they will reciprocate. If you’re there for privacy, that is available to as the staff are attuned to your needs. It really feels like a genuine immersion in “Pura Vida”.

I haven’t even mentioned the restaurant there because that deserves its own entry; but i will say this, some of the best dinners I’ve ever had in a hotel restaurant hands-down.

We will definitely be back.

Great location near restaurants and Manuel Antonio. The view from the buffet/restaurant is incredible.

Breakfast buffet was standard - some local fruits, omelet station, toast and jam, beans and rice and eggs, fresh juices, granola, yogurt, whole apples, a cake pastry, coffee and tea.

We had a room in the main building, and it was awful. The bed is hard as a rock. The air conditioner leaks substantially so the floor would puddle with water. They changed out the towels for us several times, but there was nothing else they could do with it. There is mold on the wall beneath the AC and in the shower. The windows are not fully sealed so you hear everything - any traffic outside the window, families eating breakfast on the floor below you, and some bugs get in as well. The rainy day was so loud due to the rain hitting the roof we woke up extremely early. I also asked for a hair dryer to prep for a nice dinner and the first one was melted/didn't work. The second one barely got hot.

The restaurant had decent food, korean bbq is one of my favorites so we were excited to eat the \"authentic\" meal that everyone recommended. We were underwhelmed overall, honestly, and it was very expensive ($90 for a very small portion of galbi, bulgogi, rice and a couple veggies/kimchi, and a scallion pancake.) However, during Happy Hour the next day, the bartender made us Pina Coladas and they were the best I've ever had. Also loved the Mango Moon special - a spicy marg type thing. 2 for one!

My stay at Mango Moon Villa in Quepos, Costa Rica was nothing short of extraordinary. Nestled in the lush Puntarenas Province, this villa is a hidden gem that exceeded all expectations.

The villa itself is a tropical haven, boasting a stunning blend of modern luxury and natural beauty. The villa's highlight, without a doubt, is the breathtaking view it offers. From the moment I stepped onto the expansive terrace, I was mesmerized by the panoramic vistas of the Pacific Ocean and surrounding rainforest. Sunsets here are nothing short of spectacular.

The location of Mango Moon Villa is ideal. It's a short drive to Quepos, where you can experience the vibrant local culture and dine at some fantastic restaurants. For nature lovers, the proximity to Manuel Antonio National Park is a major advantage. I spent my days hiking through the park's pristine rainforest trails, spotting incredible wildlife like monkeys, sloths, and exotic birds.

What truly sets Mango Moon Villa apart, however, is the warm and attentive staff. They went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and memorable. From arranging excursions to offering recommendations for local experiences, their hospitality was second to none.

Beautiful view but mixed stay

The hotel itself is absolutely fine, if basic, and the view is really absolutely amazing. We travelled as a couple and booked a superior room, but sadly this had a connecting door through to another room directly. When a family (with young baby) turned up late in the evening, there was loads of noise coming through the door.

Unfortunately there was no other room for us to move to, and we were told that the noise shouldn’t be loud due to insulation between the rooms, and slightly insultingly by the owner, “maybe we will feel differently when we have children”.

It was later realised that the hotel had forgotten to put any of the insulation between the thin door where our rooms connected.

The situation was made pretty awkward given the shared patios and public spaces, by the family (who were asked by staff to keep noise down) as well as reception staff themselves.

Recommend to stay if a family / if in need of a budget-friendly hotel with beautiful view. Avoid for anything special or anything more.

The hotel is perfectly situated, snuggled slightly off the main road, tucked away just enough to avoid the loud noises at night, to hear the wildlife right from your suite and to feel like you are on some secluded area as you gaze off into the most beautiful view....

Some have said they heard noise at night but I can assure you, as I am the lightest sleeper and go to bed fairly early on the regular, that asides from hearing people laughing and dining downstairs, the only noises I heard past 9:00 pm were the cackling sounds of the gecko's and in the early morning the howling from the monkey's and the chirping of the birds.

What a wild experience is was. We will be back and I highly recommend you visit the Mango Moon Villa if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed.

Great breakfast, you have to watch out for monkeys who come and steal your food though! Extra points for the sunset view, the best ever!

A highlight of our vacation!

Friendly staff, incredible views and tasty (included!) breakfast! Our family of four was welcomed here and the vibe made it feel like home. The sunset views each night were the highlight of our stay, though. Highly recommend, although you may want to bring some earplugs - the AC unit was noisy as was the street, so sleep was hard to come by.

Stunning view of the ocean from our balcony. Room was comfortable and enjoyed our private balcony. Restaurant on site provided excellent breakfast and we enjoyed some other meals there too. Fantastic staff! Pool area is somewhat small so a little challenging to find shade and could hear a little sound from other rooms at times. Overall enjoyed our stay very much!

Amazing place, great location

This place is so special! The staff make you feel right at home, everything is clean and tidy. The view is to die for! Every night a truly spectacular sunset. The pool is great for cooling down and the ac works well.

The location and surroundings were excellent. Located conveniently to restaurants and shops, right in the jungle with ocean views. It was an understated, simple hotel (which we liked), however our room was very basic. Our washroom had little storage space and a leaky faucet. In addition, our patio was not very private with other guests cutting across it to access the main stairs.
The owner, Fran, was very friendly and an excellent source of information about Costa Rica in general, and local things to do.

Unbeatable views but skip the restaurant

We booked a superior room with ocean view and were not disappointed ! The room shares a little deck with the adjacent superior room and the view is so beautiful you will want to admire it all day long.
A few negative points: we had dinner at the on site restaurant and the food wasn’t very good. Probably the least tasty meal we had during our 2 week trip in Costa Rica. The breakfast buffet was much better.
Then, we had one small bag of laundry done (since the hotel listing mentions laundry services) and they charged us $20 for it !! For one laundry load ! That is the most expensive laundry I’ve had in my entire life.

This property is located close to the beaches, food and shops. Staff was friendly and helpful, some wildlife was present, view was great from above but would suggest cutting some trees down so that you could see the ocean better. Pool was not heated which was disappointing as we would have used it if it was not so cold. Room had a great view and food was ok. A bit pricey for what they offered but there are great restaurants not far from the property. We opted to go out and eat. The beach is about a .5 miles roughly and it would be a steep walk down and up a hill but if you have a car it is no problem. Beaches here are beautiful and do not disappoint.

We felt like we had stumbled across the best hotel in the area. We had the superior ocean view room.
It was complete windows all around and yet completely private.

The courtyard view over the pool where we had free breakfast every morning was magnificent and always some event happening with the wild life.
The monkeys would come right up on the balcony. The macaw parrots were there every morning and the Toucans would come and knock on our windows every morning.

We felt we saved money by not having to do a wild life tour as they were all at the hotel.

Staff and Fran the owner were very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was great but the one time we had dinner at restaurant was very disappointing. We had $20 off credit so It was fine to over look.

There are plenty of amazing restaurants nearby in walking distance.

Overall I highly recommend staying here. Best hidden secret!

Amazing stay! The staff are extremely friendly and created a wonderful experience. I was greeted at the door with a smile and cool drink after being on the road in the sun. There is a ton of wildlife right outside the balcony to look at and only beaten by the view behind it. Highly recommend Mango Moon Villa

Mango Moon Villa was an amazing place to stay for our honeymoon. Proximity to amazing restaurants, 15 minute walk/hike to several beaches, excellent friendly staff. I got to practice my Spanish and most staff spoke both English and Spanish. The food was also incredible and they had a wide variety for lunch and dinner. Great happy hour, 2 for 1, and amazing view of the coast. Could not be happier with our stay!

It’s a lovely hotel with amazing views over Manuel Antonio bay, very cute swimming pool and monkeys visiting all the time!
Only downsides, the restaurant and bar are quite overpriced and it was noisy all night (i think a very noisy air conditioning unit nearby was kept on all night.

Gorgeous view, wonderful people!

The first thing that you notice is that the view is absolutely gorgeous. Pictures don't do it justice. Everything else just adds as you go - we frequently saw monkeys (though the staff didn't do anything about kids running around screaming and trying to feed them), toucans, macaws, and other wildlife. The rooms were fairly comfortable, and the food was AMAZING, both the included breakfast and the attached restaurant. (Though walking to other places is easy due to the location). Staff was generally helpful and friendly, and staying here was an absolute highlight of the trip!
