best spot near Manuel Antonio without getting caught up in the noise by the park. They provide beach chairs and umbrellas which was great. Beautiful pool, great restaurant and the service from Juan Carlo was outstanding.The capuchins were great fun to watch as they ran up and down the property walls.

The room was Ok. No drinking water supplied. I was told if I need ice that I needed to drive to a store. The breakfast was absolutely terrible. Scrambled eggs and rice, pineapple and wheat bread and watered-down orange juice. Thats it !!! No pastries, no cereal. Nothing. The same thing every day!! The prices of the food and drinks in the restaurant were outrageous. If they lowered the prices to a normal price the would do better business. Really felt as if they didn't care if you used their restaurant or not. Which we did not because of the prices. We always left the property to eat for better quality and much better prices.

This hotel was a dream! The minute we stepped onto the beach it was paradise. Our room was beautiful and had an amazing view of the ocean. It was a bit of a hike (stairs) but worth it. It was a few minutes walk to the beach where there was good music, monkeys everywhere in the trees, and the staff is so accommodating, making sure we had beach chairs and anything we needed. 2 for one happy hour was great too! Surf and body board rentals right there, parasailing and jet ski rentals just up the beach, you can even get fresh ceviche and massages from local vendors. Easy to spend the whole day there and not need to go anywhere. The front desk was also wonderful and friendly and responsive to our needs. After spending 4 days in la Fortuna in the rain and not seeing much wildlife (even after paying for tours), arriving to Playa Espadilla was the hi-light of the trip! The sunsets from the beach were spectacular and you can go sit out at the beach at night, it's so relaxing. El Avion and Agua Azul were great for dinner and watching the sunset. We even saw monkeys from the rooftops there. If you plan on visiting Manuel Antonio, you can literally walk there from the beach. 100% recommend staying here!

Clean rooms, friendly staff. The property is divided by a road. The room we booked was on the hill as opposed to being closer to the beach. We were lucky to change over to the beach side of the property by paying a little extra. Biggest advantage is that the property has its own private beach. Private parking and access to the beach def are the big plusses. Half.a mile down the road is the Manuel Antonio national park.

The hotel is on both sides of the road. I was given a unit on the opposite side of the beach, but still very close, approximately 5 mins walking distance. Our waitress Rocio was very nice and welcoming. We were able to see monkeys and other animals while on the beach and eating at the restaurant. I also enjoyed walking from the restaurant to the town. It’s about 15 mins walk. The only negative is the building is next to the road and you can hear all the traffic but the positives outweighs the negatives!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed staying at this resort. My room was higher up on the hill which was a flight of stairs to get there. But it was tranquil to be surrounded by nature including seeing monkeys swinging through the trees and iguanas roaming in the terrain.
I missed having a Tv for night downtime or distraction. The resort’s restaurant, pool, and beach were about a five to ten minute walk from the hillside rooms.

The location is wonderful, featuring a very nice beach. The bungalows situated on the hill offer a stunning view; however, the climb to the top can be inconvenient if you have to do it multiple times a day.

To reach the beach or the restaurant where breakfast is served, you must cross a street with fast-moving cars. There is no clearly marked crosswalk, making it quite dangerous. Speed bumps are definitely needed in this area.

The Hotel is great I would recommend it to all my friends. But the wifi sucks. Very weak wifi and only intermittent in the rooms
No wifi at the beach nor at the breakfast/lunch areas.
I think serious attention needs to be paid to the wifi in that hotel as it is an easy solution with low cost and huge benefit to the clients.

We absolutely loved this hotel! It was like paradise! The staff were super friendly and super helpful. The pool and the beach and the restaurant were all amazing. The rooms were great. We had booked a room up the hill and were offered an upgrade when we got there for a reasonable fee and we were so glad we made the change. We will definitely be back to this wonderful hotel!

For our first visit to Costa Rica, we chose to stop in Manuel Antonio, and we couldn't have picked a better spot! Being right across from the beach was incredibly convenient, even with the busy street. The real highlight was our room at the top of the hill – the view was simply spectacular! Just a heads-up, the climb is no joke, so definitely pack light. We loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable Manuel Antonio experience

We loved this property. Its on a gorgeous beach with warm water and has a lovely well maintained pool. The grounds are well kept up, have monkeys, agoutis and iguanas running around. Beds were comfortable and our AC worked well. Drinks and food and breakfasts were all great. Will stay here again

I stayed in a mountainside villa for 4 nights with a gorgeous view. The WiFi and AC worked perfectly my entire stay, I put some insect repellant below my door or a beach towel which prevented too many uninvited guests in the evenings, there was some construction happening during the day but I imagine most people would be out and about during the day anyway, the staff were friendly and helpful, and if you have an early tour booked, they let you grab a to go box for the included breakfast which worked great for me :). Overall I really enjoyed my stay and I would stay here again if I were in the area!

We stayed in room #7 and it was a steep climb up the stairs, but the views made it worth it. Rooms were basic with 2 beds, sitting chair, mini fridge, and bathroom. No TV but did not want one with so much to do. WiFi worked great. Breakfast was included and was perfect. Pool was very nice. Restaurant had good menu options and the staff was super nice. Beach chairs and umbrellas provided too.

Monkeys, toucans, and Macaws all over -fantastic mid range option if you’re a beach person. You have to request the beachfront rooms though or you will be on the other side of the road.

We booked a room on the ocean side. The room itself was pretty awful and depressing. We had no hot water, Wi-Fi was spotty & inconsistent, our tiny TV did not work. The room is basically like a sad, white box with an uncomfortable chair stuck in the corner. The included breakfast buffet was horrible. Cold eggs, tasteless cheese, jelly from a pouch, no meat. None of us ate it. I'm rating it a 2 instead of a 1 because the beach area is beautiful and we had monkeys right beside our balcony. Also, the manager let us cancel two of our four nights which was nice.

We stayed on the beach side of the hotel. Property grounds were gorgeous and filled with wildlife. We skipped the national park entirely as we saw sloths, capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, agoutis, scarlet mccaws, iguanas, and a ton of butterflies right at the hotel on a daily basis.. Restaurant was on the expensive side but very convenient and beach dining was a plus. The only downside is that you can hear a lot of noise from other rooms like doors slamming due to the marble floors and wood ceilings, but we got used to it. We will definitely be staying here again!

I almost hate to review this property because I love it so much. The KEY is to reserve a room in the white building on the ocean side of the road. This last time we were in the building above the road, where there's a lot of road noise and the air conditioning didn't work right (there was water literally pooling on the floor). The second night we moved down the hill to the white building and were very happy.
The amazing thing about this hotel is it's right on the best part of Espadilla beach and there are lovely gardens and mature trees, so I've seen sloths and monkeys just on the grounds. The restaurant overlooks the beach and they have tables and chairs on the beach. It's an older hotel, so a little worn around the edges, but that's why they have such a prime location. About a 30 min walk down the beach to the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park. It's quieter than the crush of hotels that are right by the park.
Staff at the hotel are very nice and helpful!
Still our first choice for Manuel Antonio.

Not the greatest experience. Hospitality isn't great and service everywhere is very slow. Took an hour to get some Nachos for dinner and there were hardly any one at the restaurant eating. Check in is easy but our room was at the top of the stairs and luckily we had small bags because it wasn't an issue for us but if you have large bags, good luck! They don't offer any help either. Wifi is terrible and didn't reach our room. We had to work and it was too hot to sit outside and work so don't count on wifi in the room. Good things: Nice beach access and the room we stayed in had an incredible view! I would not come back here for the price. Maybe everything in Costa Rica is expensive, I am not sure as this was our first time, but for the money, was not worth it. Amazing Airbnb down the street next to the park gate that is 3 minute walk to the beach and 5 minutes to the front gate entrance. 100% recommend that instead!

The grounds are lovely and the beach access can’t be beat. Nice outdoor restaurant with the best ceviche and the kindest staff. But our room? Not very clean. No vent fan in the tiny bathroom. A/C barely adequate. Our bed was great, though. We were fine for a few nights but probably won’t stay again.

I really loved the beach and that is exactly what you are paying for here -- the proximity. All the staff were truly amazing most especially the folks working at the restaurant (S/o Eric).

Quepos is close but requires taxi, Uber worked best for me. Hotel is walking distance from Manuel Antonio Park which is great but the day I was there it was closed (Tuesdays apparently).

The hotel is fine and everything was in decent working order. Some insects around at times but what can you do. The monkeys in the trees at breakfast are a hoot.

All and all I'd highly recommend it simply because you can walk from your hotel room and within short minutes be on the beach. I had a wonderful time visiting here thanks for the memories

My twenty year old daughter and I had a wonderful stay at Karahe Beach Hotel. The property is beautiful. The restaurant was excellent. The property is on two sides of the road. We did upgrade to be on the beach side of the property which was more convenient being closer to the pool and restaurant. We even saw a sloth and white faced Monkeys on the property. The beach is beautiful. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

Our arrival started off with issues. They never informed us that our $160 private ride from the airport in San Jose was payable in cash only. They took my credit card info prior to the trip and upon arrival said it was only to secure the reservation and that the driver had to be paid the $160 in cash. It was night already and we did not have an ATM to go to on-site so the driver had to wait for payment until the next day, which was embarrassing. Then we went to our room and found that there is no view of the beach at all even though the room was advertised as beachfront and we paid a premium for that. Their response was that the room faces toward the beach and that beachfront doesn’t mean you will see the beach (you’ve got to be kidding me). Then we found there were no towel racks in the bathroom and that the TV was missing. I’ve never stayed in a hotel without towel racks in the rooms. No place to put wet towels or your face cloths. They finally gave us a TV the following day after a guest checked out of their room. So apparently they rotate TVs from one room to the next. Also, there was no ventilation in the bathroom, which was awful. Every time someone took a shower, the entire bathroom would be soaked with condensation, including the whole bathroom door. The shower door was too short, so the floor got very wet during each shower. The best thing about this hotel was the garden area we faced (instead of the beach). The room was also smaller than advertised.

This was our first trip to Costa Rica and this hotel and the staff made it a trip we will never forget. The staff (and everybody in general) were so friendly and helpful. The monkeys and iguanas were everywhere and made my boys smile. Lot's of wildlife all day and night. The view from the rooms in the individual cabins on the hill are incredible. The stairs to get to them is a bit of an exercise, but worth the view in my opinion. I'm sure there are other great hotels in the area, but when we come back I plan on staying here again. Pura Vida Excellente!!!

I loved the easy walk to the beach from within the hotel property. The wildlife that roamed around the property was amazing to see! There was nothing that i didn't like. Bathroom was dirty and the door didn't latched, the bedsheets were dirty; they had sand and they stank really bad! I asked for them to be changed and they still smelled really bad. We lost water for hours. We didn’t have enough towels. I wouldn’t stay there again, other then the view it was a terrible experience overall

This is the ideal location if you want a beachfront property. The other perk is that there is an abundance of wildlife right on the grounds! We saw monkeys, sloth, iguanas, and other creatures daily. The room was comfortable and the AC worked great. There is a fridge in the room. Dining options are limited and we found the restaurant on the property just OK. There is a convenience store within walking distance. We took the bus a lot (costs $320 colones per person and better to use colones) due to hills, but you can beach walk to the national park and little town from this hotel. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating.

We stayed in a \"beachfront superior room\" that was located on the third floor of the building on the beach side of the road. In addition to our building, the restaurant and pool are also located on the beach side of the road. It would be inconvenient to be on the uphill side of the property, away from the beach (I suspect this is the main reason for some of the lower reviews of this property). Our room had a nice balcony that overlooks the grounds. Although the view of the ocean is obstructed, you can hear waves from your room. None of the beachfront properties in this area have an unobstructed view of the ocean, due primarily to the trees that line the beach. You must choose between ocean view/drive to beach or beach access/no ocean view. Room was very clean, and very quiet (except for the Howler Monkeys in the morning), comfortable beds, good A/C, no plumbing issues, wifi in the room needs an upgrade. Pool was nice and adequate size. Breakfast was filling but the same every morning. Restaurant has good open-air atmosphere, good wifi, good food and priced appropriately for the area. Best thing about this hotel is the beautiful beach and nice shady tree area of the beach where the hotel provides chairs and restaurant service. Lots of wildlife on the property (monkeys, iguanas, crabs, lizards & Mia the resident kitty). This is an older property and things like pool deck, reception, etc. are clearly dated but it has lots of charm. Would stay again!

We stayed at one of the Villa Deluxe which has the most wonderful views! Based on the previous reviews we didn't have much expectations but it ultimately proved to be a great choice. The hotel premises is split in 2, by the main road. On the upper part up the hill is the reception and part of the rooms - incl. the Villas ~ there are several steps up to reach these rooms, a bit of effort, however totally worth it + the hotel personnel helped with our luggage. On the lower part are the rest of the rooms (we saw them, pretty basic but spacious and clean), followed by a beautiful garden, beach restaurant, pool and the actual beach. These rooms have only limited sea view. Our Villa was clean and cute, although not very spacious it was enough for us and the view was breathtaking. The only con was the low water pressure. From Villa to beach it took approx 4min. Breakfast is quite basic and restaurant food average with huge portions. Beautiful beach with service (sunbeds, umbrellas, food, drinks) and most amazing sunsets. The hotel personnel has been friendly and helpful too.
All in all, definitely recommend the Villa Deluxe and enjoying the beach at the hotel!

Nothing special

The pictures show the rooms have beach view but they are not accurate. Even the rooms closest to the beach have no view. The room Iwas assigned to, had a cable tv wire hanging from the wall but no tv.

Pros: beautiful! The location is great! We loved the beach and pool. The service was amazing. Really loved the staff. Nature was interactive (a monkey stole my stevia while I was waiting on my coffee).
Cons: the drinks suck. Coffee was like dirty bean water. I want to start my day with good strong coffee and had to beg for espresso shots. I took up on the happy hour offer once...I’m a lightweight and can be done from 2 glasses of wine. I ordered 2 cocktails and feel I paid $9 for 2 cups of virgin cranberry juice.

Enjoyed our time in the hotel, we spend a couple of nights, but really happy in general. The rooms were clean and spacious, beds comfortable.
The staff always willing to help and always with a smile.
The food was good, the size also were a good amount of food for the price, and we enjoyed also the happy hour :D

Karahe has two sides divided by a road you have to cross. If you’re on the side with the beach the rooms are nice but if you’re on the other side the rooms are not updated and look bleak.

The service/staff was great everyone was really nice

The pool needs an update.

But the property was right on the beach and has chairs and umbrellas for their guests which was the biggest plus.

I selected March 15 thru March 17th to stay at this hotel, and it defaulted me another date, with the wrong occupancy for the night I wasn’t going to be in Costa Rica. The website didn’t state the dates I was searching were full, and I verified after I selected the approval to charge me, and now we are waiting to see if the hotel will void any cancellation fee, since we are as a family trying to stay there on different dates

There was a water leak. The bathroom and bedroom floor was totally wet when we woke up. There was no WI-FI in the room. There was no warm water. I would not stay there again. But the room was very clean. And the people were very nice.

We walked across the street and the beach was right there. That was very convenient. The room itself was average. We were only there to shower and sleep and didn't spend much time there anyways. We did find some bugs in the shower almost every day, but I guess with it being Costa Rica, thats something we might not have been able to avoid.
