We had a fantastic view of the ocean from our balcony. Manuel Antonio National Park is approximately 2 mins walk from the entrance to the hotel. The view is amazing but get ready to work for it. It is a very steep walk up but buggies are also available sometimes if you don’t feel like working out. We enjoyed our stay very much. Impeccable service from the staff. Nature at your doorstep. Highly recommended! We would definitely stay here when we come back.

Steep hill to the reception and rooms is a work out but no problem if taken steadily and reception provides golf cart rides as needed. Restaurant food very good too.

Staff were great, especially our server/bartender, room was clean, the view was nice. Our favorite was the included breakfast along with the views of the ocean at the restaurant. The property is located very close to the national park and is a short walk to the beach. We were fortunate enough to see Toucans and Howler Monkeys during our stay. Our room was located directly underneath the restaurant, which made it a little noisy during business hours, but after closing time and before opening, there were no noise issues from the restaurant. Would stay here again, but not directly under the restaurant.

Overall nice hotel to stay. Just 1 min away from the entrance of the National Park. Safe, walkable to restaurants. Its built on top of a hill so there is a steep walkway to get to the hotel rooms but they have golf carts that can transport you up and down. The pool is nice. All rooms have direct view of the ocean. and since its on a hill, the view is very beautiful and amazing sunsets can be seen directly from your room. As the name suggests, its built using the containers and so the rooms are elongated rectangles, not sufficient room to move inside the rooms, but thats not a problem. The service is good. Staff is great. For the breakfast they start at 7 only. Even if you go early and the staff is available in the restaurant they will not take your order, they will ask you to sit down and then at 7 they will distribute the food menu, then bring coffee and then take your orders. If you are in a hurry then pre-order the breakfast the day/night before. With that you can get the breakfast earlier and you can go for your tour etc. The parking is a bit challenging. You can see monkeys and the birds right from your hotel room as its surrounded by thick vegetation. So thats a plus! Look around the trees early morning and you will spot monkeys. Nice hotel to stay!

Spotless room on the highest floor, so no noise from the restaurant. Beautiful pool and lovely terrace restaurant. Was a little overwhelming arriving into the town, being harassed by people wanting you to park in their area, but once at the hotel we were treated very well. Easy walk to the beach, but preferred to stay at the hotel with no vendors bothering us.

The staff was great, very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and was accurately depicted in the online photos. Resturant had good food and the wait staff was awesome. Location very well situated to many different ideal destinations and the wildlife we saw just from our room and the restaurant was amazing. We would definitely return to the property if visiting the area again. I would say the only negative was a person name Justin that sat outside the gate and was constantly trying to pressure you to visit the coffee shop and souvenir store just outside the property. He apparently works for the hotel but was not a good reflection of the hotel. He was constantly trying to get you to buy things, was a little inappropriate with some things he was saying. He gave that used car salesman/hustler type impression that was over the top, frustrating and disappointing all at once.

The location of this hotel is perfect—right by the entrance of Manuel Antonio National Park with some of the best ocean views you can find. The reception staff was friendly and welcoming, which made check-in pleasant.

Unfortunately, other aspects of the stay did not meet expectations. The restaurant staff was not friendly, which made dining uncomfortable. Housekeeping was also very poor: the sheets were never changed once during the entire stay, and the the toilet was never cleaned. Shampoo never filled.
The last night of our stay the air conditioner stopped working. We did not bother to tell them.

Overall, this hotel has a lot of potential because of its prime location and stunning views, but the service and cleanliness need serious improvement.

We recently stayed at El Faro and had a fantastic experience. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and always quick to answer any questions we had. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and well taken care of.

One of the highlights was the breathtaking view from our balcony—it was the perfect spot to relax after a day of exploring. Mornings were a treat, too, thanks to the delicious breakfasts served each day.

The location truly can’t be beat. It’s just a short walk to the beach, shops, restaurants, and the entrance to Manuel Antonio National Park.

We had read about the hike up the hill to reach the hotel and were a bit concerned, but it turned out to be easier than expected—and even enjoyable (our group’s ages were 11-58)! We were lucky enough to spot a sloth in the trees along the way. For those who prefer not to walk, golf cart rides were always available.

A fun surprise were the capuchin monkeys—nicknamed “La Mafia” for a reason! They’re very entertaining to watch, but definitely keep your distance and your food hidden.

All in all, El Faro was a perfect base for our group Rolf two families. We would stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Manuel Antonio.

The El Faro Containers Beach hotel isn’t on the beach (5 min walk) but is built into a steep hill -- so steep, they offer free golf cart rides up and down to access. The pools are nice and they provide beach towels. The hotel is built from old shipping containers, so the rooms are long and narrow. But they are nice and quite comfortable. The elevators are small and slow. Each room has an ocean view from its balcony. On check-in, they warn you to close your room door tight because the monkeys have figured out how to work the doorknob and get in to trash your belongings. I saw a monkey on the roof right outside my hotel window on the day I checked out. Quepos is a short drive away, and there are lots of restaurants, services, and things to do in the Manuel Antonio resort area.

Daily room service was a great touch, keeping the space tidy and comfortable. However, the room lacked basic toiletries such as soap, bar shampoo, and lotion. Also, while the room was very clean, they are dated. A renovation in the rooms would really elevate the overall experience and match the quality of the service.

Location was great - two minute walk to Manuel Antonio park, convenience store, souvenir shops.
Hotel restaurant - the breakfast that was included was fantastic. We ended up eating dinner there one night and it was good too.
Staff - quick responses via WhatsApp. Very helpful.
Beach - seven minute walk. Beautiful views ocean view from our rooms and from the restaurant. We saw two different types of monkeys from our room and from the restaurant.
Rooms - not the nicest, could use some updates, but the they were clean, cool, and the beds were comfortable.

Well, it’s different staying in a shipping container but they made it very comfortable. The staff was amazing, especially the gentleman at breakfast! The cleaning staff were polite (great job ladies!). Even the unforeseeable guest at breakfast (monkeys) were handled firmly, but with Care making everyone. The only 2 thing that gave it less of an appeal was water pressure, either very lower not having any water at all. I’m not sure if that’s the hotels problem or a city problem. The second is the hill if you’re unable to walk up and down the hill, this is definitely not a hotel for you. Yes they have golf carts, but they’re not there on a regular basis. If you get lucky, you may get a ride up the hill. Most of the time you walk it and ladies and gentlemen it’s a hill straight up.

We arrived and it was raining. Of course it's a jungle. We were supposed to be there for two nights they checked us in and they said it's too dangerous to take our car up to the hotel because it's so steep and I guess something with the bricks. So he put us in a little car and took us halfway. We got on the elevator. Took the elevator up I think to get off at the restaurant. Walk through the restaurant and over a slippery little bridge. Then we took another elevator up to our room. So of course I asked him when we need to get down what do I do? He said to contact them with WhatsApp and someone will be there within a minute. Okay so we go to the room so many issues. No bedside tables. No electricity at the bedside. You have to step up about a foot or so to get into the bathroom. Hard for someone handicapped. So I messaged them and said we can't stay here. I messaged so many times to no avail I ended up calling the police. The police came. We got down there with all our luggage. The man at the desk promised that he would contact Expedia and give us a refund. It was done. All good........

The hotel is located directly before the entrance to manuel antinio national park. Very convenient if your visiting the park. Endless dining and shopping options in a 10 minute walking radius. The public beach is less then 10 minutes from the hotel, very convenient to walk to. No car necessary to get to the beach. If you stop along the way to the beach you will more then likely to see an assortment of cool wildlife. The hotel itself was pretty clean, only complaint would be that while sleeping it was raining hard outside and i woke up to water dropping on my head. Not a dealbreaker whatsoever. The location is beautiful, a nice relaxed getaway from the hustle and bustle of big cities. It felt safe and lots to do from nature tours to beach days to excursions found wherever you are walking. I would definetly reccommend this hotel.

We loved our stay here!! We had a wonderful view of the ocean from our room as well as the pool! The bar staff was phenomenal and very friendly. Having a pool was fantastic after walking around the hot city and park. The location is perfect, right next to the entrance of the park. It’s very easy to get a ride if you’re looking to go elsewhere for dinner or shopping. The room was just what we needed for our stay , with a little kitchen and counter space in the bathroom. We would absolutely stay here again!

I loved the staff and the restaurant was really affordable. The pool looked like it could use a little work, but we only went swimming once. I also loved the location and the view. The actual room was a little small as we had to share it with our 2 kids, but the AC was cold and there was a lot of wildlife right outside our room, even a sloth, so that was really cool. The staff was beyond amazing. I would definitely stay there again if I go back to Costa Rica.

I loved everything about this place!! Manuel Antonio is a magically place and the El Faro highlights that fact!! You want to see some cool stuff?? All you have to do is go to breakfast or sit at the pool… the monkeys will do the rest!! The staff here was great!! From the server’s to the guys that bring you to the beach in the golf cart!! You all made my experience incredible and I thank you for that!! What a great bunch of people!! The hotel is in a very convenient location next to the park and down the street from a gorgeous beach!!! If you’re thinking about staying at this hotel I’ll tell you one thing!! The location of the hotel is great - right next to the national park and close to Playa Espadilla.
Staff was super friendly.
As the hotel is on a steep hill, the hotel offered a transport service up and down.
Breakfast was good. The hotel also organised a tour guide for us to guide as through the national park as well as a Catamaran tour.
And also monkeys came visit at the pool, which was really cute.
All in all a great experience.

First of all the location and the views of this was awesome! Out of the hotel and you’re in the national park. The views from your balcony of the ocean sunset or just a spectacular as any sunset restaurant you would go to. The service was great the animals on the property like monkeys on our balcony survived and others were able to see even before going to the park. The pool was refreshing and the breakfast was adequate choices. The only downside is that since these are containers, they noise travels and the walls are paper thin! There is a steep hill to climb, but they also have golf courts to take you up. They are quick to respond to you on WhatsApp. It’s a good solud three + star hotel

This is a comfortable accommodation. The staff is so friendly, the food at the restaurant is delicious and at a great price, and the entrance to Manuel Antonio park is just about a block away. We had monkeys and geckos visiting our balcony. The geckos and rain was louder than I expected but easily ignored with ear plugs. This is not a luxury hotel but it is safe and relatively comfortable. Love the view, it was beautiful!

When I went to shower, there was no shower/shampoo soap. I contacted the front desk through Whats App, They responded right away and sent someone to bring soap very quickly.
We were late for our excursion pick up time and the front desk let us know they were waiting through Whats App. We thought the time was 20 minutes later, so we appreciated the notice so they would wait for us.
Great service from the front desk. They even helped us with restaurant suggestions for dinner. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Love how close it was from the National Park entrance. Great attention from the staff. Wifi was not working most of time. The first elevator did not look or feel very safe. Regarding the breakfast, it will be more convenient if the guests can have both coffee and juice, rather than one option per breakfast.

El Faro is as pictured, very convenient located next to Manuel Antonio park, literally you can walk to the park, the staff is very nice and polite, Juan Carlos from the restaurant was very attentive and helpful on any type of question we had , he went above and beyond to make sure our stay was pleasant, the food in the restaurant is really good , we booked the studio on the terrace and it had everything that a couple need it (a/c , wifi , mini fridge, coffee maker , bathroom, elevators) the hotel has two pools and a beautiful view to Manuel Antonio beach, so I think is a great value for the money, I sure recommend it

Hotel restaurant was right above my room. The rooms are made from shipping containers which sounds cool at first until you have noisy neighbors & lots of foot traffic above your room. Sound is definitely an issue, at least in my room. The view from my room was incredible which sort of made up for the noise somewhat and the staff is very friendly & helpful. Rooms are clean and each room has a patio overlooking the ocean & Manuel Antionio Ntl Park.

Our trip was amazing. We had a smaller room at the top with ocean views. There was a huge patio shared with 3 other rooms but we mostly had if all to ourselves, because the other rooms were vacant. There was a nice pool downstairs. It was a relaxing ambiance. We saw a lot of monkeys, birds and wildlife. We walked to Manuel Antonio National Park from the hotel as well as the beach. It's also not far to drive to a park called Rainmaker Park & hike to see many waterfalls and wildlife. Highly recommended. Costa Rica is a beautiful place and we loved staying at El Faro Beach Hotel. It was clean and comfortable, had good showers, excellent breakfast choices, & a convenient location.

The view was gorgeous and even better than expected. The pool was really lovely and taken care of. Out room was cozy with a great bathroom. We loved the staff. Joseth assisted us with our bags and helped us around as well. We really enjoyed his help and his kindness added to our stay. Even though it is at the top of the hill everything thing feels very close and easy to get to. I would definitely stay again.

Staff was friendly and professional.
Hotel was located at steep hill, so hard to get there specially in a hot, humid weather. They take you up there with a golf cart, when they are available.
Rooms were noisy, so small, claustrophobic.
Location was good, strategic to go to the Manuel Antonio National Park (6 minutes walk).

Loved it here , the dining and front staff were absolutely fantastic..whenever we need a ride up or down they were right there..The rooms were basic but clean and the visits from the monkeys every morning was really nice..We tooka lotsa videos ...Actually say way more wildlife there than in Manuel Antonio park ..Very walkable area with lots of restaurants nearby..We would defintely stay there again ..I would say the restaurant staff would serve us coffee as we were up at 5 am every morning ..before the breakfast service ..These guys were exceptional..
