What an amazing vacation we had. After 5 days most of the staff had become good friends. It was sad to say goodbye to them. The location is stunning too with 180 degree views of 2 beaches. Outside our room we had a monkey highway as each morning 10 monkeys would walk across the vines outside our room. The wildlife are real happy there as we saw sloths, friendly lizards and lots of monkeys. And last but not least, the food was amazing at both restaurants. We cant wait to return!

I arrived in the afternoon, around 4:30PM, after a very long trip. No sign was telling the hotel location. The road looks like it leads to a one-star hotel.

At the gate, no one speak English, so I waited 10 minutes to speak with the reception.

They gave me the room late, and then the surprise was:
THERE WAS A WIDENING PARTY IN FRONT OF MY ROOM THAT KEPT ME UP ALL NIGHT.

I FOUND DEAD MOSQUITOES IN MY BED AND AT 4AM WAS CHECKING ON MY BABY AND SEE A SPIDER IN MY ONE-YEAR-OLD'S BED.

I checked out the next day and did not complete the two nights.

I WANT A FULL REFUND FOR THE ENTIRE STAY. I WAS EXPECTING FIVE-STAR SERVICE WITH THE AMOUNT OF MONEY I PAID.

This hotel is not worth the money, terrible tiny room, children were stomping all night above us and we couldn’t sleep. We asked the front desk the next day and they said they check out - not true the same family was above us again. We left the next day- gorgeous views- room pictures online are a lie and front desk does not value a quiet nights rest

Stunning beach, excellent food and drink, great staff. The property is mostly accessible by golf cart once you check in— I had planned to walk to Manuel Antonio some during the trip but that’s a bit of a project. Everything you need is right there though!

The resort was beautiful, quiet and clean, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. You will see monkeys and sloths. The staff will point them out to you as well. Most of the community does speak English and do take dollars without difficulty. The restaurants on the resort are pricey, we tried Agua Azul close by and it was delicious and reasonable, Emil’s Cafe was also great but also a little more pricey. Taking a taxi to the local restaurants in Manuel Antonio is about $10 each way, into the manual. Antonio Park is $12 each way. We initially use the resort transportation when we arrived to take us from the Quapos airport to the resort which was around $68. I asked the resort multiple times how much transportation would be via taxi and they avoided this question. On the way back, we decided to take a red taxi and it was only $25. The resort was helpful when asking how much to taxi would be to other places, although not to the airport. Adorable tourist shops in the area although very overpriced so do negotiate. We did multiple tours that we booked on our own. I would definitely recommend a guide for the manual Antonio Park. We did a volunteer for a day with Kids Saving the Rainforest and you will see more animals up close. Also loved the Night walk Rainmaker tour and horseback to beautiful waterfalls. Transportation to the Waterfall was $140 and tix $160 for two, but lovely. Bring any meds you might need pharmacy charged $80 for a $20 medication, ouch

Hotel is fabulous, staff are amazing. They consistently went above and beyond to ensure our stay was wonderful. Magnificent views from every vantage point. Lots of wildlife on the grounds. Monkeys, sloughs, iguanas, etc. We did the night walk with Maria. She was great and pointed out so many amazing species of tree frogs, sloughs moving, birds,etc.
Also booked the waterfall hike (spectacular) and whale watching (saw at least 8-10 whales in addition to leatherback sea turtle, dolphins playing, and many species of birds). Highly recommend!!

Mixed feelings. Beautiful location and the rooms. Very good food BUT all the waiters were so unhappy serving people and it took forever to get the order so we switched completely to the room service that we did not have to interact with them. The spa was also a big disappointment. Appointment at 10:00 and at 9:55 the spa still locked up with the explanation that they open at 10:00! So in the second they open you hop on the table. No concept of welcome drink or relaxation before the treatment.
Therefore the golf cart drivers were so happy, friendly and accommodating. Really great guys reading your mind. The room keeping was great and the room itself too. So it was a weird mixture. Considering that we paid $1,200 per night there should be no mixture of bad and great service. It should be all great. We would not return there although the location at the private beach was great.

I loved this resort! Great location, great service, breakfast was excellent. The beach was beautiful as were pools/restaurants. I saw sooo many animals. Hotel staff was so happy and so helpful. I felt completely pampered and treated like royalty. I couldn't recommend enough and I have stayed at many hotels/many countries. I loved the mini-bar which was free and well stocked with snacks, beer and bottles of wine! Front desk scheduled all my transportation, tours - they definitely take care of you. If you are staying in CR, definitely stay here!!

Hope we have a chance to come back!

We had a wonderful stay at Arenas Del Mar- all of the staff were so friendly and provided helpful recommendations. We were upgraded and our room was very close to the private beach which was lovely; the only issue was that it didn’t feel super private, since the windows and patio faced out to a heavily trafficked area.

The hill to get in / out of the property is quite steep - just something to be aware of! We had a pretty small rental car, but didn’t experience any issues. The staff offered to drive it back up to the main road if we needed.

We had dinner one night in town, and used transportation provided by Arenas which was very convenient. We also ate one night at Mirador and it was great! Delicious cocktails and food, albeit a bit more expensive than you’d find if you venture off the property. Overall a great experience and we would love to visit again.

Beautiful resort with access to TONS of wildlife!

Arenas Del Mar was a stop on our honeymoon and we absolutely loved it. Of course, it's a beautiful resort, but that isn't why you should stay there - you can get a nice hotel room in a lot of places - You should stay there because it is a haven of nature that really felt unique and special. We saw more wildlife on the grounds of Arenas Del Mar than we did in Manuel Antonio Park. Macaws, anteaters, monkeys, sloths, you name it! You can walk to the beach (both a private one and a public one) and the staff are incredibly friendly.

Beautiful location with convenient access to two beaches, one private and one public. Breakfast and meals at Playitas restaurant were very good quality. The Mirador restaurant is not as good of a value....I was expecting better food for the price. The property is on a very steep hill, so it's not practical to walk to other restaurants from there, but you can get a taxi or they will take you in their shuttle. They will also drive you around the property in a golf cart...otherwise it's very steep walking. You can see wildlife on the property (monkeys, macaws, etc.). We also did the national park tour with Esteban, and he did an excellent job helping us to spot wildlife there. Highly recommend a private tour starting early in the morning to avoid crowds at the beach. View from our room (Ocean View Premium) 603A was incredible.

The views are amazing and the staff is excellent!!! I would have liked larger and nicer pools but the beach is beautiful so it wasn’t that big of a deal. My only dislike was the location and transportation availabilities. The location is down a steep road and walking to and from the shops/restaurants isn’t feasible. They charge $11 to take you up the road. Also, they charged us $56 for a 18 minute drive to the Quepos airport. Research online shows taxi services would’ve been under $20 easily. Outside of that, our overall experience was amazing and if you don’t plan to leave the resort this is a gorgeous place

This place was amazing. Great location right in the rain forest by the beach. The room was spacious with a large balcony and great view. The private beach was a highlight and easy to get all to yourself. The included breakfast as well as dinner and drinks were all good quality and fresh. Overall the best part was the service though. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful!

Where to begin. This was the best hotel stay my girlfriend and I ever had in our lives. The initial greeting was great, and the good vibes continued during our entire stay.

We saw sloths, white faced monkeys, howler monkeys, and squirrel monkeys all ON PROPERTY! Half of which were even from OUR ROOM! Not to mention the hotel is beach front and has easy access to a beautiful public and private beach.

The staff was next level. Nelson was a very kind server and went out of his way to help us. Jason was also a great server, patient and enjoyed teaching us Spanish. Christian both kindly greeted us and helped us depart. He even loaded all of our bags into our car while we enjoyed our final breakfast. Alberto helped us multiple times (especially learn Spanish) and even went out of his way to provide a bag of cold aloe for us because we were badly sunburnt (Christian made sure we got it). We knew the staff by name and they knew ours (Mateo y Raquel). You will not get better service than this.

We had an amazing 10 day Costa Rica experience but Arenas Del Mar was the best part. We added an extra day because it was so good. We will be back.

Friendliest people on the planet and customer service outstanding. Example: We arrived very late, around midnight. Not only did we have a drive go to SJO (3 hours each way), have a staff member greet us on arrival and take us directly to our room, but delayed check in until the next morning and had fresh fruit and sandwiches in our room! Every one remembered our names and all seemed to take pride in all efforts. Could not have been better!

Arenas del Mar is fantastic! My husband and I went for our honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect. The staff is so friendly and pays attention to detail. The location is breathtaking and the views from the room make it feel very private. From reading online about the resort, we weren't aware of just how much land they have. The reception, restaurant, and rooms are spaced out with a lot of steep hills in between. They staff will transport you wherever you need to go by golf cart. They are very prompt when you ask for a ride; most of the time they were waiting outside our building by the time we walked down from our room. The staff was great about booking activities for us to do and arranging transportation from the resort and back. We also thoroughly enjoyed the restaurants. There was one directly on the beach and one formal one. The food was great - lots of fresh fruits and seafood and they catered well to my husband's gluten allergy! Overall, I highly recommend. I can't think of a better place to stay in Costa Rica if you want the best of the rain forest and the beach!

This hotel was the best. Best room ever! Amazing views. I could see ocean and forest from our amazing balcony. I could not see or hear other people and rooms. The sound of the waves crashing was meditative. Food was excellent. We rarely left the hotel. But when we did, everything was close by. Beach was awesome. Semi private due to remote location. Everything provided such as chairs, towels, etc.

Arenas del Mar was fantastic. From the time I checked in till the time I checked out everything was easy and luxurious. The property was in great condition with great views. Easy access to tours and excursions. The food was great! The only thing I would mention is although they 2 restaurants only one is open at a time. Would be nice to be able to choose between each restaurant for each meal. Thats just me being picky. Easy beach walk to the reserve and a little town to hang out in. All in all one of the best places I've every stayed.

A beautiful resort on the bluffs and Beach overlooking Manuel Antonio. Sitting in a rainforest with monkeys and other wildlife while looking at the ocean. Very special. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful, food and drinks are top quality. Ecologically minded, only golf carts ferry guests around property which is fun. Highly recommend

Arenas Del Mar was fantastic, an absolute dream! The service was impeccable, the location was incredible and the food was delicious. We stayed for 8 days and didn't want to leave! The beach was perfect and the circle swing was so fun. Sunset on this beach was breathtaking. The wildlife on the property was amazing, sloths, white face, squirrel and howler monkeys. Raccoons, frogs and lizards galore! We loved the happy hour and the drinks were yummy. They were so accommodating to our 8 month old son and everyone, I mean EVERYONE, knew his name and ours. They all knew every activity we were doing each day, provided suggestions and had our breakfast ready with our favorite table and high hair when we walked in. This place was absolutely dreamy and we will be back! Also, we used the bathtub every night and that was also an amazing perk of this place. Oh, and the complimentary laundry service (because we stayed so long) was incredible!!! To come home from a long trip without oodles of laundry was the cherry on top of an incredible vacation. Shout out to Tatiana and Yuliana and Christian who could always make our baby laugh and the tour guides Esteban and Maurico who took us on some incredible adventures we will never forget!

This is my first (and probably last) review I've ever posted, but I think it is the least I can do after our stay. This is by far the best hotel I've ever stayed in. First of all, the staff here are outstanding. They are incredibly friendly, efficient and organized. We scheduled multiple excursions with guides arranged through the hotel and we had amazing experiences each and every time. I still have no idea how the staff remember both your names and room number, that alone was very impressive.

The hotel itself is amazing and well maintained. For a relatively small property, it feels very secluded (in a good way). We never felt like any of the common areas were busy, so it felt like our own piece of paradise. To make things even better, the amount of wildlife you see around the hotel grounds makes it even more unique. I would argue that we saw more wildlife around the hotel than we did on a guided tour around MA National Park (although the tour was extremely fun and educational).

Overall, I don't have a bad word to say about the hotel, staff, excursions or guides. This place is a must visit for anyone looking for an extra dynamic above just a beach vacation. One thing I would say is to eat at the hotel as much as you can and avoid most of the restaurants in Manuel Antonio- they are tourist traps. We chose to try a few highly rated places and they were nowhere near as authentic or high quality as the hotel. I would recommend the soda's (Sanchez) in Quepos, or the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay. Staff go out of their way to make you comfortable. We had forgotten our baby’s pool floatie, and within hours the front desk had procured one for us. The room is wonderful with view of the ocean. The restaurant is excellent too. Special shout out to Brayan and Yuliana who made our stay memorable.

Book this Hotel IMMEDIATELY

It's an intimate and tastefully designed hotel which offers a ton of attention from the staff (more on that below). I LOVED how the rooms were set up within that resort. We felt tucked away in the rainforest but still has access to beautiful amenities, including the beach which was only a few steps away (we stayed in building #2).
We were so impressed with how eco-concious the culture of the hotel was (in addition to the entire country)—it was truly inspiring.
This resort bring such a strong animal game!! I was shocked to see how many animals you see super close up.
This one of the ONLY beach front resorts as all the beaches in Costa Rica are public.
The food was phenomenal (and I live in NYC around some of the top chefs in the world). Everything is incredibly fresh, beautifully presented and so flavorful. I can’t speak highly enough about how incredible the staff is. Everyone truly starts to remember and get to know you.

Where do I start, from the moment we got there, until we left, nothing but good things to say about this hotel. Absolutely incredible hotel and staff, it was really hard to leave and come home after staying at this hotel. Cannot say enough good things about Arenas Del Mar

There are not sufficient superlatives to describe this hotel. The setting is beautiful. Set in the rainforest adjacent to the Manuel Antonio National Park, you get the best of everything without the crowds. The hotel staff is excellent - friendly, helpful and always ready with a smaller and a suggestion to make the day even better. The private beach is amazing. Wildlife on the property is abundant. Take the night time tour,! We can’t wait to go back.
