Beautiful hotel. Beautiful views. We were in a corner room that slept 5 and it was huge! The pool is small but it had a swim up bar which was nice. It's a steep walk to a beach. The beaches in the park are a lot nicer in my opinion. I would stay here again.

The property is a well known place in Manuel Antonio and quite accessible to central areas, food, park and beach. Parking here is a challenge. Condition of property not so premium as they claim to be. Our next door was under construction and they had construction material visible and left open near our balcony. Not so safe with very small kids. The view from property is great! Breakfast was decent. Overall could do better in terms of ambience.

The staff was excellent. The air conditioning in the room was good but the rooms could use updating. There were no chairs or trashcans in the room and they had microfiber bath towels. The towels were new but awful to dry off with. If they try and put you in rooms 106 & 107, please ask them to move you. The stairs up to these rooms was challenging and the hallway was terribly, terribly HOT. Again, the staff was super and the breakfast was good.

The staff were great and food was good. The room was large and had a great view of the ocean (and the parking lot) but was outdated. The toilet made noises that made it difficult to sleep but after 2 requests to have it fixed the problem remained. Our safe broke and we waited hours to get it fixed.
The information sheet we received on arrival said happy hour included 2 for 1 drinks but they failed to mention it is only valid at the pool bar, not the restaurant bar. Unfortunately we didn’t realize this until we got the bill.

This hotel has very beautiful views on Manual Antonio beach. The room that we stayed had very nice view, but needs some work. Shower was leaking, door in shower was broken, mattress and pillows were very old and uncomfortable. The food in the restaurant was good, but had limited choices.

Do not stay here. The bed was broken and when we asked for assistance we were told there were no more rooms. Towels and sheets were pilled, stained, and edges frayed. The food was poor quality and the room was in poor repair (tv hanging sideways off wall and non-usable, painting slipped down from frame with tape showing, stool cracked and old. Location is nice and so is the view…just find a different hotel in this area (there are tons). Very disappointed.

We booked triple ocean view room for 3 nights. We were in a room which was renovated. We were in room 202, which has a huge building in front of the balcony. However, you could see I’ll see the ocean to the right and left of the building. The room should have been less than the 3rd floor room because of the obstructed view. The room was spacious for 3 people, 2 beds and a sofa, refrigerator, coffeemaker and coffee table. However, they charge you $2 for the coffee pod. They did have free coffee in the lobby.

Breakfast was great. Many choices and the taste and service was great in dining area. It had beautiful view.

Front staff was helpful. There was parking on property, but the entrance is steep and it curves.

My most favorite place was the rooftop. During the day, you can see ocean on both sides.

In the evening, it was so pleasant at the rooftop that we played cards. It was lovely, we saw stars and sunset colors from there.

We liked the location of the hotel. Only 5-8 minutes driving to all key places to visit.

The view from our balcony was spectacular! The room was spacious with a large bathroom, separate kitchen area, coffee machine, couch, and a huge Smart TV. We really enjoyed the free breakfast, which had several choices and was delicious and plentyful. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, along with Roy at the pool bar, and the housekeeping ladies. The only disappointment was the waiter in the restaurant, who always had a scowl on his face and seemed to dislike both tourists and his job.......

This is a nice hotel but the road to it is quite bumpy so be aware of that if you hire a car. Definitely worth booking a room with an ocean view as the view is fabulous! Breakfast is excellent but the service was often quite slow even when there weren't many people in the restaurant. The pool is a decent size and we had it pretty much to oursleves on most days. Staff are friendly and helpful. Uber is pretty cheap in the area for trips to local restaurants etc. - walking anywhere from the hotel is not easy because of the steep roads! Overall, I would reccommend this hotel.

Our experience at Layan Hotel in Costa Rica was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond anything you’d normally expect from a resort. Every interaction felt warm, personal, and genuinely caring.

The views were breathtaking. Each morning we watched Costa Rica’s beautiful birds soaring right past our balcony with the Pacific shimmering behind them — absolutely stunning and unforgettable.

A very special thank you to Roy and Justin. These two truly took care of us in ways we never expected. Their kindness, attention to detail, and willingness to help made our stay feel magical.

The location is fantastic — close to everything, making it easy to explore the entire area within just a few minutes. The staff also gave great recommendations for tours and local spots. We did the horseback waterfall tour, and it completely blew our minds. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable, and the whole experience felt authentic and unforgettable.

And the food… wow. The complimentary breakfast was the best we’ve had in all of Costa Rica, and we’ve been here for six weeks! Every meal was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared.

We originally booked 5 nights at Layan but ended up staying 10 because they truly spoiled us. The hotel is also spotlessly clean and beds are super comfortable which made the experience even more fantastic.

Layan Hotel exceeded every expectation.

The hotel is located down a hill that is currently under construction, so there is a lot of dust, mud and an occasion road closure. The property is nice but is a mix of catacomb like room areas and only about 10 parking spots. The rooms are clean and nice with SPECTACULAR view of the beach and surounding rain forest. The breakfast was good and there was about 8 different items to choose from. The staff was polite friendly and very helpful. The pool area is awesome, but we didn't get to enjoy it as much due to heavy rains.
Playa Baisanz is a short walk down the road and worth the trip, it's less crowded and almost private. The street that leads to the main MA road is in an area with plenty of shops, restaurants, bars. I highly recommend you check out El Meracdito down the road.

We booked the Superior Room with an ocean view, but when we checked in, we were given one of the oldest, non-renovated rooms. It technically had an ocean view, but it mostly looked out over the hotel’s parking lot. The bathroom also had some mold. We asked to switch rooms and thankfully the staff was able to move us to another room with an ocean view, and in a little better condition than the first one.

It felt like the hotel is in the middle of renovations, and honestly, parts of it seemed like they shouldn’t be open to guests right now. That said, the views are beautiful, and the beach is only a 10-minute walk away though keep in mind it’s uphill coming back.

We liked the location and the scenery, but the hotel itself could use some serious updates.

We stayed at the Layan Hotel and Spa for 3 nights. We found it to be clean and safe. The pool was great and the bartenders Roy and Justine were amazing. The entire was staff were friendly and professional.

Be warned that the parking lot is very small. There are 25 rooms and only 11 or 12 parking spots available so be prepared to possibly park in a small lot for 3 cars at the base of the driveway.

Even with the parking situation I would recommend Layan Hotel and Spa if you are looking for a great location, beautiful views, clean and safe facilities and a great staff.

The hotel is very open which does mean that animals and bugs wander in. We did not mind because we came to see the wildlife but some people may not want that. The hotel seems to be in mid repair, there are some things that are broken and the elevator didn't work. The views are amazing. You can't beat watching toucans fly past your balcony. Breakfast and lunch were great. Dinner at the hotel is expensive and there weren't any kid friendly options so we only ate dinner once at the hotel. The beds were hard and very creaky. A/C worked great. Pool is very nice. The staff were super friendly and helpful with answering questions and booking tours for us. It's a short walk down to Biesanz beach which was good for swimming, or a quick drive to Manuel Anotonio park and beach.

Gorgeous view! The servers were warm and so friendly. Our only complaints were the construction noise, some small issues with our room (eg curtains didn’t shut, doors opened randomly), and the lack of elevators (lots of stairs - probably would not recommend for mobility-challenged folks). However, we had a relaxing time and would definitely consider staying here again!

We had a great time. This is an boutique hotel, not a big chain. Maybe 25 rooms total. This is also an older hotel getting some renovations and upgrades. The place is nice and has an amazing view. The food was great, the drinks were cold, the staff was friendly and wonderful, the price was very reasonable, the room was spacious and very comfortable.

There are some things that they are working on that need attention. Like, we stayed on the top floor and at times the shower would just stop. Not enough water pressure during high demand. The hot tub had issues with the jets not working. Small things, not deal breakers, but don't expect the Ritz, this is not that.

We were so fortunate to select this hotel, it is simply one of the best places we have every experienced. The hotel has an ideal location as it is situated on one of the highest hilltops affording spectacular panoramic views of Manuel Antonio. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful without exception. Don’t be fooled by other places to stay; their photos cherry pick the best view. Layan clearly has the best location in the area.

My stay at the hotel was disappointing. The maintenance needed in the room, its not worth the amount of money you pay for. The beds,Toliet and outlets are loose. The bed squeaks with every movement made through out the night. They are doing construction across the street and will have you up at 6am. The staff was great and being abel to have a water available for guest for free. Just need make sure rooms are well before given. If you want to sleep and relax I don't recommend it.

We were not put into the room that we saw advertised online - be prepared for that and message the hotel before you book to make sure what you see is what you’re getting. It’s currently under renovation and certain rooms are much nicer than others.

About 3/4 of the hotel seems to be renovated and is very nice. We were put into the 1/4 that is still yet to be renovated, and it showed. Dark hallways to the rooms only lit by motion lights, the smell of wet paint and paint stains were in the hallways, and drywall dust was still visible. For about $350 a night CAN we did not expect this.

Room itself wasn’t terrible, had what you needed. But for the price, we were not happy. After 1 night of our 4 night stay, we asked to be switched into the room displayed online, and luckily they were available. The staff were very helpful and understanding with this.

After this, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The pool and lounge area with the ocean view on the roof is very nice! Included breakfast is always a plus. The food and drink menu the rest of the day was all excellent.

One other more minor complaint is that parking is very tricky in this location. They have a very small parking lot that doesn’t accommodate the amount of guests in the hotel. It’s a space issue and not much the hotel can do about that, but we had to park on the street a couple of times.

I would stay here again if I knew the renovations were complete and was getting what I paid for the second time.

My stay at the Layan Hotel in Manuel Antonio was unforgettable! The service here is truly something special. One moment that stood out was when I asked if I could leave my wet clothes in my car, and the staff offered to keep them in the laundry room instead. To my surprise, when I went back to pick them up, they had taken it upon themselves to wash, dry, and fold everything—just as a kind gesture! It’s rare to experience that level of care.

The views from the hotel are out of this world—easily the most beautiful in Manuel Antonio. If you’re coming, do yourself a favor and book an ocean-view room. It adds so much to the experience.

I also loved how small and intimate the hotel feels. It’s cozy and peaceful, with everything conveniently close by. The pool, with its incredible ocean view and swim-up bar, was one of my favorite spots to relax.

The hotel has just finished renovations, and you can tell they’ve put a lot of thought into making it a great place to stay. If you’re looking for somewhere with breathtaking views, exceptional service, and a relaxed vibe, this is the place to be!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff were all kind and accommodating, and the front desk supervisor is a stand out- she is amazing! The restaurant and deck area by the pool have stunning views. I really enjoyed the wildlife around the property. Saw iguanas all over, had a coati on our balcony the first night, and one evening we saw white face monkeys climbing around the roof. Take any reviews from before summer 2024 with a grain of salt-this property is under new ownership, and they're currently working hard on updating the place while minimizing any inconvenience to guests. The new owner was wonderful to visit with and they were invested in making our stay exceptionally wonderful. As other reviews have stated, there is construction going on across the street- this wasn't a problem for us, we spent our day time hours exploring the area and the work was wrapped up long before we went to bed. There is a great beach within walking distance, but you will need a car for visiting Manuel Antonio. Front desk happily helped us with our reservation for Manuel Antonio and calling a cab. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

This hotel was one that we probably shouldn’t have booked… we were skeptical that it was in transition of ownership and seemed to have 2 names and 2 different websites.
We were not given the room style that we booked. We were given a smaller space with less beds. We had construction next to us. A discarded toilet on the balcony was our first view when we arrived.
The shower was filthy, the toilet clogged, the hot water wasn’t turned on in our room.
Our last date discovered that we had robbed. 2 sets of AirPod pros were stolen from our room. Later discovered to be at an address of someone working construction at the hotel.
Pool was not available and we were never informed that this would be an issue.

The hotel is clearly under renovation and nobody told us before traveling from abroad in a group of 8 people with 4 little kids! Even though the staff was friendly and trying to help but the infrastructure of the hotel was beyond horrible. The pool was closed also under renovation. We did not know until we get there.

The good: the staff was friendly and helpful.
The bad: it felt like staying in a construction site instead of a hotel.
The hotel is going through major renovations. It is dirty all over and debris in some areas. Pool is closed and hot tab dismantled. Water leaking in the balcony and a lot of noise, water leaking and wet floor in the lobby, broken ceiling with construction equipment in the lobby. Basic breakfast is missing items on the short menu, and for any other food/meal we have been sent to a nearby hotel.

We didn't know about the place status. The real status is far from the nice photos and amenities and the booking site.

This hotel is under renovations. We didn't know about it when we made a reservation. We came on 11/13 to the hotel and found out that it is under renovations. Why didn't Expedia let us know ??? We paid a full amount, even more than the other hotel next to this hotel that wasn't under renovations. Our hotel sent us to the next hotel if we wanted spa and pool. It was raining very heavily on that week, who wants to start going to the next hotel? Also there were wet spots in the hotel, breakfast was missing a lot of things on the menu, and they didn't have enough staff. I expect Expedia to check and let us know on the situation when the hotel is under renovations.

The property was amazing with beautiful views and very relaxing, The room was soooooooo clean and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable (this is always an issue, but not this time). When they found out my husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding aniversary they hurried to accomodate a present for us to enjoy and create memories together. The restaurant was in a close by sister hotel and they took us back and forth in a golf cart. Very enjoyable experiend. Breakfast was included, and we were surprised of the amount of food and the variety. The buffet was a pleasant surprise. We could use the swiming pool at the hotel we were staying as well of the sister hotel where the restaurant was. There was a short walk to a very secluded beach ( ap piece of paradise) I have been to the are of Manuel Antonio many many times before, but this experience was top of the top

The view from this property is spectacular. At one time you can see that this was probably the premier hotel in Manuel Antonio. The price was great and the nightly rate does include an amazing breakfast buffet. However, please be aware that this property does need maintenance. Besides that I would recommend this hotel highly.

It was truly great! Property and all was as advertised in pictures and all, staff was super friendly and always willing to help. Hotel amenities were clean and available for use. It has a great location, close to the beach as well as several restaurants ans different options around

Staff was amazing! Everyone was super helpful! Ada at the front desk and Jorge helped with getting us around and with luggage. Great location and view from the room and breakfast is excellent!
