Cleanliness of the changing rooms to the hot springs needs to be improved. There was a used mask in the male steam room and an opened bottle of water on the table which were still there on the next day. Staff were attentive in the dining room and took away the dirty dishes promptly.

Waist of time and money

Typical Taiwan hotel, where service is below Zero. Hotel itself is old, room charge is overpriced. Staff are very unprofessional, receptionists are very rude . Restaurant staff and food are terrible. In restaurants totally no any social distancing, so scared to get CoViD 19. My recommendation: DO not GO! Waist of money and time!!!

Dated hotel w/ nice views and outdoor private tub

Pros: Views are beautiful. The private spa tub is on the outside balcony of our room. I believe most rooms if not all have the spa tubs outside on the balcony. To us this was the one factor that made the whole stay worth it despite all the other annoyances.

Cons: The property is dated. Shower drain doesn't drain well when showering. Slippers they provide are reused by guests. We booked through Hotels.com but when we arrived, their paperwork said we booked through Expedia. This was quite odd. We received a Hotels.com VIP credit that can be used at their Spa massage. When we arrived, they had no idea what we were talking about. We didn't want to stress out arguing for it since we were on vacation so we just left it at that.

Overall: the views and the private outdoor spa tub made the annoying things that we dealt with more bearable. In the end, the fact that we booked from Hotels but they said we booked from Expedia and we never got our Hotels VIP credit for massages was the breaking point for this low rating review.

Dated property with overpriced mediocre restaurant, and tired beds, old worn down everything but featuring great hot spring pools and very friendly staff to make up for all that...

It's a VIP+ hotel, but really offers none of the perks: they gave a spa ticket discount for 10%, but at the spa you see that's their promotion for everyone. Late check-out not available, nor room upgrades.

Bad value for money as the rooms like the elevator are old fashioned and falling apart.

As noted though, really nice staff and they do have on site parking! If you do stay, do yourself a favour and bring your own food or eat before arriving.

Spa facilities are good and up to expectation. However, on arrival at reception counter at 一館 at around 12:40 p.m., I was coldly received and told just to wait until 3 p.m. to check in at 二館 without guidance on how to get there or any other service. It was after my persistent request that I managed to leave my luggage at the counter and went to 金山站 to save the waiting time. On the contrary, the receptionists at 二館 were very nice in introducing the hotel amenities.

Good Hot Spring Experience

Given the remote location of the hotel, it would be ideal if the hotel can provide the free shuttle service for its guest from Taipei City to the Hotel once per day at 1300. Otherwise, the overall experience was enjoyable and relaxing. The hotel's bus driver Matt serves as a good hotel's ambassador as well stopping by at some iconic sites for us to take some photos while driving us to the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay. Room was neat and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a great time dipping in the outdoor hot-spring pool, in the privacy of our room, with spectacular view of the mountains. The guests outdoor pools is a hot-spring wonderland. Many hot pools with varied temperature. Dipping in the hot-spring on a cool starry evening was absolutely the most wonderful experience.

Worth a return stay if you are prepared to splurge a little more to pamper yourself.
Awesome service staff, fantastic and tasty breakfast selection with homemade jams too! Spring water was great. Don't forget to spend some time at their shops in the lobby too :D
PS: please expect slight moldy smell in view of environment and age of the hotel.

The facilities was just out of maintance such as the child playground, the swimming pool. The staffs working in the resort did not meet the 4 stars hotel standards. I have experienced some intoxicated guys knocked and shouted on the guest room corridor and I called to the reception and inform them on this thing and what the the staff just told me was she noticed the guests at the frontdesk but did not do any action (get someone to escort them to room) and the only words she said to me was apologized for inconvenience caused to me. Then I told her to send staff to check on the floor and after 30 mins and she called to my room at around 1100hrs to show concern which was not acceptable to me. I was traveling with my family and i did not want to get disturbance and it just made our journey at the hotel was awful.

It was a very nice place to stay, with the sulfuric pools and such. But the rules were weird and disproportionately enforced. While one lady was very strict, another employee didn't care. I also thought it was strange that we couldn't take pictures while we were at the hotsprings.

If you like hot spring, this is the hotel to stay.

Fabulous! A high light of our trip. Everything is welly organized. We love our room which has a theme in the interior design. Unlike the other hotels we stayed, they have wide variety of food served during breakfast. That also includes quite a number of vegetarian dishes. In case of the hot springs, there are different types with therapeutic functions. I especially enjoyed my exfoliation of my feet done by the small fish in a pond. Don't miss this.

Almost great if the room rate can be lowered

my local friend picked me from the airport and sent me to the hotel. Took a while to ascend up the slopes passing by several other hotspring resorts, schools and nurseries etc. Was told taxi may not want to take this route up the winding path...I arrived on a Friday evening, where the hotel is still not packed. Able to enjoy the outdoor hotspring. Simple layout for different pools, clean and well kept. I have also tried the in-door hotspring the next morning before breakfast, it was very good as I enjoyed with my son. Breakfast is simple fare, not elaborated and healthy. The quad room is well kept but TV reception is bad. I paid about USD400 per night for this room which is quite expensive. I chose this resort because it's newer and quite popular. Overall 1-night stay to use the hotspring and sleep is good enough, and relaxing.

We have got upgraded to a bigger room. The hot spring pools are awesome! The staff that welcomed us upon our arrival made us feel very welcome & was very detailed when explaining the various facilities in the hotel and room.

Excellent stay @ the beautiful hotel minus the average standard breakfast. There are also only 2 restaurants within the hotel compound - the western restaurant is so-so while the Chinese restaurant is better. The hotel is far from the town, so we had no choice but to dine in the hotel.

An amazing Stay at Tienlai

We had an amazing stay at Tienlai. The grounds were perfect for our outdoor wedding, and the staff was willing to arrange something special for us. The traditional dinner was fantastic as well.

The breakfast buffet was great and had a lot of variety, however, we didn't as much care for our experience with the Khan restaurant.

The hot spring pools were relaxing and they even had a pool with fish to clean your toes! Nice landscaping and environment for a hot soak, and it wasn't overcrowded during our stay.

Many birds, flowers, and plants, as well as a \"happy garden\" on the grounds, plenty of places to relax, meditate, or read outdoors. The room was a decent size, clean, and even had its own hot spring bath on the balcony.

For the discounted price of $130/night, we found this hotel to be an amazing value! The room price also included access to the outdoor and indoor hot springs, which were very relaxing and made our skin super smooth. We went on a weekday, so we had most of the place to ourselves! The dinner and lunch options at the hotel were really nice, and reasonably priced, considering the resort's remote location (there are no other restaurants / convenience stores in the immediate area from what we could see). Our hotel room was stylish and nicely lit with a mountain view.

Generally good experience. The taxi ride was NTD1000 up to the resort as we headed to the resort too late. The outdoor hot spring seemed to be in need of maintenance as 4 pools were not functioning. Ok place. Needs a lick of paint and updating. Rooms have been redecorated but the general common areas are circa 1980's. For a spa hotel the massages on offer aren't very good. Very little variety. Hotel gym is a joke. Spa hotels should spend some money and have a decent gym available. Restaurants close early and no late bar for drinks. More than once menu items weren't available. Hotel is miles from anywhere so it's difficult to escape to try restaurants in other places. They can get you a taxi but getting back is a problem as even local taxi drivers struggle to find this place. Also taxi's from the hotel are at least double the price of hotels back to the hotel.

A fantastic way to celebrate my 40th birthday

Our experience at Tian Lai was unforgettable. The room had 2 double beds and was very comfortable. All the amenities, including light Jazz music over the in-room stereo, a hot spring tub on the balcony, mountain view etc. All you can eat dinner, all you can eat bfast, plenty of hot springs, tennis, billiards, saunas, and the staff will bend over backwards for you. We went in June and the resort was very quiet, not a lot of people which was wonderful. I would go back again.

很用心經營的溫泉旅館，不僅有室內及半露天的裸湯溫泉池，戶外還有很多個可著泳裝的泡湯池及小孩可玩的滑水道，老少咸宜
早餐採自助式，選擇性多
房間很乾淨，枕頭及床都很舒適，無可挑剔
服務人員態度良好，尤其是門口接待的先生，笑臉迎人，讓人賓至如歸
