This hotel is terrible. The noise is high. The area doesn’t seem safe; the gym is a joke. They don’t even have a way to get you into the gym safely. I will never go back; it was a terrible experience.

The property is excellent, but they need to renovate the rooms ASAP before getting old and rusty, they need to put new sheets, towels, batteries on the AC remote, one of the room didn’t have soap and shampoo in the bottles, in other words they need to pay attention in MAINTENANCE, the hotel is excellent, location, pool and everything, hopefully the take care on those detail soon.

I have stayed at this hotel many times. Expedia and hotel postings don't match. You pay in advance on Expedia and the room you get isn't the same and you can't do anything about it except pay the difference or take whatever room they give you

The hotel staff was amazing, very helpful and friendly. The food is a little overpriced compared to other restaurants in the city. And the only bad thing was few other hotel guests don't respect the sleep time of other people, by playing extremely loud music from their cars parked in front of their rooms until late hours at night (this might be part of the culture). So, if you have small kids that need the normal night time sleep, you should talk to the staff during check-in. I'm sure they will re-locate you if they can. The rooms are clean and the service quality great too.

I stayed here one night with friends and enjoyed the hotel so much that I would stay here again. We didn't have a lot of time to enjoy the pools and what not, but enjoyed the drinks at the outside bar. The rooms were adequate and large with plenty of natural light. I especially liked the size if the bathroom. Great location too restaurants and shopping. The one thing I would like to see improved would be the quality of the mattresses. The mattresses were extremely firm...like I could bounce a quarter on them kind of firm.

Good hotel for business travelers

The hotel is clean and nice, with very large rooms with amenities, including WiFi. On my first stay I had no issues. On my second stay I was assigned two rooms with three beds in each (I think they were 2 doubles and a single) in spite of there being only one of us in each room, but when I requested a king for each of us, it was immediately granted (I had requested a king bed originally, and my room on my first stay was a king to begin with). Also on my second stay I found the restaurant to have very slow service, along with the front desk when it came time to check out. But I would still recommend this hotel to anyone, including families.

For Cucuta, its a nice place. The grounds are maintained, there's a pool, and a full gym with an aerobics class and full weights. I believe its a full gym that has members that the hotel owns and gives the guests free access. As I entered the front guarded gate, I saw other cars such as a mercedes benz and bmw's - guests cars.

The staff were pleasant, well mannered and courteous.

My understanding as well, its one of the very few hotels with hot water showers. Since Cucuta is a warm city, most hotels don't believe hot showers are important.

The outside of the hotel is quite the opposite. I do believe its safe, its just not a commerical area by any means. Exito and other plazas are about a 10-15 min walk.

Overall I would return and try it during the day, I was there just for one night.

Traveling to Cucuta means that your either stay in a sterile building, or for less money, spend it in a wonderful, warm, inviting hotel like Bolivar. Highly recommended for both business and pleasure! Have used it 3 times and will be back again!!
