The property was beautiful and peaceful. I enjoyed the pools. The room was very nice.
The service was non existent.
The food was not good and I almost never received what I ordered from room service and even in the restaurant with no explanation. The buffet was closed multiple times.
Entertainment and activities were mediocre.
The spa itself was lovely but my service was below average.
The beach area was quite small but nice, service again was poor.

From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt different from a typical all-inclusive resort. The Mediterranean-inspired design creates a sophisticated yet welcoming vibe, with beautiful landscaping, modern architecture, and an overall sense of tranquility throughout the property. Every area felt thoughtfully designed, making it easy to unwind and enjoy the surroundings.

The accommodations were exceptional. Our suite was spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully decorated, with comfortable furnishings and luxurious amenities. The attention to detail was evident everywhere, from the quality of the bedding to the well-appointed outdoor spaces that made it easy to relax and enjoy the tropical setting.

The dining experience was another highlight. Each restaurant offered fresh, flavorful cuisine with a great variety of options. Whether enjoying breakfast, lunch by the pool, or a special dinner in the evening, the food consistently exceeded expectations. The drinks were equally impressive, and the bartenders created excellent cocktails with friendly and attentive service.

I loved every minute of my visit! The property is exceptionally clean; the hotel, the rooms, and all the common areas were entirely pristine. The food was excellent, but the standout feature of this property is the hospitality.

A huge, special shoutout goes to Kieran, who completely stole the show. He was always one step ahead, keeping track of every detail of our stay and making sure we were perfectly taken care of. Whether it was arranging messages, booking dinner, or handling last-minute requests at any hour of the day, Kieran made the entire process entirely effortless. He is an incredible asset to the team, and his dedication is the main reason we are already planning our next trip back!

The resort was very zen like. It reminded me of Scorpios in Mykonos. Mello beach vibe. Great for couples. Room was top notch with an indoor and outdoor jacuzzi tub. Staff was amazing. Concierge service was unreal. They were available 24/7. I will definitely be coming back.

Conozco el hotel desde que abrió sus puertas en el 2008, cuando era The Reserve, después Garden Suite y ahora volví en esta nueva etapa Zel.
Puedo describir cada estancia como una experiencia única.
Siempre he tenido buenas experiencias, pero voy a hablarles de esta en una comparación de 18 años de experiencias vividas.

El hotel a nivel de estructura, decoración, limpieza, remodelación de restaurantes, habitaciones, espacios comunes, piscinas, etc, está en excelentes condiciones. Realmente le hacía mucha falta ya que había tenido un deterioro notable.
En cuanto al personal nos dio mucho gusto volver a ver a Ángela, Osvaldo, Francisco, personal de muchos años los cuales vemos como familia, su trato con el huésped es uno impecable, humano, cercano y de mucha confianza. Los empleados nuevos son muy amables también…
Ahora voy a expresar mi opinión sobre el “concepto mediterráneo “
La impresión al llegar al lobby es rara ya que entras a un cofee shop, y tienda tipo hotel, si lo comparo con otro concepto anterior debo decir que me gustaba más antes. Cuando llegabas eras recibido con una toalla refrescante, una bebida y una sala donde comenzabas a sentir que llegabas a tu segunda casa. Teníamos acceso a todos los restaurantes de Paradisus y Gran Cana,ahora solo tenemos disponible tres restaurantes en Zel y a su disponibilidad. En resumen el hotel es genial pero hay detalles que nunca debieron cambiar.

First, the hotel is not for families because they don't provide food for kids. Second, the adult was smoking in the activities area as if it were nothing, but they don't any prohibited sign anywhere. Third, we have to wait until 6 o’clock for the room to be ready, and when they give us the phone for service, it never works. The room service didn't pass through the room for cleaning, and I had to be texting all the time with the guy who processed our check-in. And the bartenders have to be trained because most of them didn't know how to make a real margarita. Therefore, the only thing that I consider good is the activities that they did during the day.

While Zel had some positives, our overall experience was disappointing. We were not given the two-bed room we requested and had to settle for one bed and a pullout couch.

The dining experience was inconsistent, with buffet closures and limited communication from staff. Palma Real next door offered a much better buffet, and Volcan was the only restaurant that consistently stood out. Our butler, Frank, was very helpful and made the experience smoother.

Despite being marketed as a wellness resort, activities were limited and the resort lacked energy, especially in the evenings. Guests looking for nightlife will likely be disappointed, though Fun Republic provided some entertainment options nearby.

The resort felt more Mediterranean than Caribbean, lacking much of the local Dominican atmosphere. Zel is best suited for travelers seeking a quiet, relaxing getaway rather than a balance of relaxation and fun.

Overall, the resort has potential, but it still feels like a property that is working through growing pains.

El hotel muy bonito. Romina muy amable y atenta desde el primer dia nos ayudó y guió en todo lo que necesitábamos. Algunas personas del staff eran amables. La piscina cool. No había muchas actividades por hacer pero nos ayudó a desconectar un poco de todo. La comida en Parda muy rica. Pero comida en Volcano y la atención fueron malas. El beach club 10/10 pero la comida y el servicio 4/10. Nos sentamos con mi esposo en el pool bar y nunca llegaron a atendernos. Solo pasaba y pasaba staff y nunca se paraban a preguntar si queríamos algo. Todo el cuarto es un 10/10.

The only downside was it had a number of mosquitoes inside, and squished on walls etc in several places. The pools at the resort are nice, quiet and easy to find a lounger. The cumulative effect of these issues had a significant impact on our trip. Instead of relaxing and enjoying our vacation, we spent a considerable amount of time dealing with problems, reporting concerns, and seeking assistance.

The most disappointing part is that vacations are not easily replaceable. People save money, take time off work, travel long distances, and plan these trips months in advance. When the experience falls significantly below expectations, those lost vacation days cannot be recovered.

Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Zel Punta Cana to travelers looking for a high-quality all-inclusive vacation. Other guests may have a different experience, but our stay was marked by cleanliness concerns, disappointing food service, limited entertainment, inconsistent information from staff, and an overall level of quality that did not match what was advertised.

I hope management takes this feedback seriously and uses it as an opportunity to improve the guest experience for future visitors.

Our stay at Zel was 100/10 starting immediately when we got there. The staff was extremely welcoming, friendly, and helpful!! Our welcome supervisor Juan Goncalvez very involved in ensuring we were enjoying our stay the whole time and living the experience we wanted, even outside of the resort. Although we were not able to match his great energy, he never fell short in enthusiasm and care.
The transportation to the beach was also efficient and also very helpful. Overall the property was beautiful, room included (we stayed in master suite but the swim up looked nice as well).
The food at Volcan and Nokyyo especially the hibachi show was our favorite. The birria tacos at Tacorini were great. The restaurant staff does a great job at making sure any allergies are avoided. All staff overall were amazing and very charismatic.
I would 100% return in the future as well as recommend it to others.

The staff is very helpful. If you need anything anything at all they will get it done. We were lucky to have Keiden to greet us and he was our personal concierge during our entire stay. Luis the waiter has my 5 stars, he is absolutely magical.
There were some children so it’s not adults exclusively.
If you like the beach check before going for seaweed but if the pool is all you need it’s clean and welcoming.
Zel Melia is small but caring. Again the staff is exceptional; they truly will go out of the way to make your stay worthwhile.

Things to know:
NO elevators, you need to take the stairs 3 floors up.
It is not a beach front property, golf cart available to drive you to the beach club.
Buffet is small, not much variety.

I had the best time at Zel! So relaxing and loooved the activities! Tangie and the yoga instructor was great! The staff was so friendly and helpful, constantly checking on us. The room was so spacious and beautiful. The beach is a quick (3 min or so) ride down the road and is so beautiful. Sooo much seating and cabanas at you pick. My only negative was the variety of food selection could be better. The fruit bar and breakfast are amaxing and they have a fresh cook up part where they will make you omlets during breakfast and pasta during dinner. The food they do have is tasty though, just after day 4, dinner was getting redundant. Overall though, book them if your looking to relax, be active and try new things!

I would not stay at this resort ever again! Let’s start with the pros. If you want an Instagram photo resort, this is it. The resort is pretty. The staff was great as well. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful. However, if you are looking for a whole experience for the price you pay, this resort is not it. The food is TERRIBLE. The morning breakfast consisted of a yogurt station was warm yogurt and flies, scrambled egg area that looks like the eggs were from the previous day. There was an omelette station, but if you are not a pork eater, don’t eat from the omelette station because there is no sanitation. Also they had only pork for meat options and yucca. They did have assorted breads, so needless to say I was only able to eat boiled eggs and bread in the morning. The first night we were forced to eat the buffet because we were told we could NOT make reservations at the 2 restaurants on site. The dinner buffet was DISGUSTING. Dry rice, hard chicken, pork and yucca. Let’s talk about the drinks, every drink tasted like sugar and water. The mojito tasted like water and sugar with a mint floating around. Same for the margarita and espresso martini. The wine was cheap wine that tasted as such. After day 2, we ate lunch and dinner off the resort. Also, the wine tasting was discontinued. And the tennis and golf activities are not apart of the resort, so you have to pay extra for each experience. Lastly, the beach club restaurant was terrible as well. Overall, do not stay here.

Service was great. Andres took care of us from the beginning and was there the entire way. He helped at every turn, booking dinner, setting us events, etc. server at the back, Ricardo was also top notch as was Rubia at Prada bar.
Only complaint is the room fridge was dirty and not cleaned out with old smoked cigar on counter. Also counter had hair on it.
Everyone was helpful and knowledgeable and friendly. Result was very zen and chill which is just what we wanted. Food was good too. Honestly, the all inclusive is amazing. Be sure to bring lots of $1s and $5s because these workers deserve it. Resort was absolutely gorgeous too. Must try the hydromassage and the spa. Even the massage was great. Drinks were delicious as well. Lots of bottled water and cokes everywhere. Zel is top notch!

Our stay at zel was absolutely amazing from start to finish! The staff was welcoming, attentive, and made us feel at home the moment we arrived. The rooms were clean, beautiful, and comfortable, with stunning views and a relaxing atmosphere.
The food was delicious, the pools and beach were incredible, and every detail made the experience feel luxurious and stress-free. Perfect place for a couples trip, or just to relax and recharge in paradise. Carlos and jhon \" Mr. Fish\" from entertainment were incredibly friendly, fun, and welcoming. They made everyone feel included and kept the energy positive every day.

A special thank you to Juan from reception, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Not really an all-inclusive. They only had a handful of drink options, and everything else was an add-on. The restaurants were never open, and when they were, reservations were always gone. They never had breakfast ready and the buffet opened whenever they felt like it, so I was hungry my entire stay.

They also didn’t give me the room I paid for. I originally booked a room with both an indoor hot tub and an outdoor one, but they gave me a room with only the outdoor tub—and it rained most of the time, so I couldn’t even use it. They didn’t offer anything for the inconvenience either.

Don’t go here if tequila is your drink of choice.

I had a wonderful vacation at the Zel. It is a great place for Solo travelers who are seeking a restorative place to renew and relax. Glorious Beach; Perfect Pools; Awesome Accommodations; Rejuvenating, Full-Service Spa. Warm welcome from Pablo and Julie. Beautiful Tropical Grounds; Enjoyable simple activities: bike riding, painting, board games. Excellent Yoga teacher, Shike, beginners are welcome; Manifestation Meditation the best! Attentive Staff: Rafi, Natalia, JoBenson, Juan, Nissa, Addie, Ricky, Wilfredo, Oswaldo. The food was okay, breakfast always good; other restaurants could use lots of improvements. Overall communications not good at all. More information needed upon check-in about activities and amenities printed out. More signage around the resort and perhaps a daily news letter at the breakfast dining area. Access to YouTube in your room. A Guest Phone at the concierge desk. Post a schedule of the pick-ups and drop-offs at the beach. The resort is quiet, peaceful but socially warm and inviting. Safe and Serene. I loved my stay and I look forward to visiting again. I recently booked a trip to Punta Cana through Expedia and paid approximately $1,750 for an all-inclusive resort stay. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.

The representative who was supposed to assist me during my stay spent most of the time trying to upsell me on additional services and excursions instead of actually helping. When I declined the services he was offering, he became upset and eventually stopped responding to my messages or assisting me altogether. It made the experience feel very unprofessional and uncomfortable.

On top of that, I was scammed on the beach while trying to book excursions, which added even more stress to the trip

The resort itself was also a huge disappointment. The food was honestly disgusting for an all-inclusive resort, and the drinks were very poorly made and tasted terrible. There was barely anything to do at the resort, to the point where I had to rent a car and leave the property every single day just to find entertainment elsewhere because the resort was extremely boring.

Room service was also unacceptable. Simple requests took 3–4 hours to arrive, even for basic items. The pool appeared dirty and was not pleasant to use at all.

Overall, this was one of the worst vacation experiences I have had, and it did not come close to matching the quality or expectations that were advertised when booking through Expedia.

I am requesting that Expedia review this situation and see what can be done

While we enjoyed the beach at the property, I can honestly say that was all that we enjoyed.

First and foremost, the money that we had taken out at the airport was stolen from out of our room by the house keepers. All of mine was stolen and a portion of my girlfriend’s money was stolen. Not only was the money stolen, but I had a small bottle of Bond no. 9 cologne that was taken as well.

Next, the dinner on the resort is atrocious. We went to the steakhouse four of the five days that we were there because the Japanese/Hibachi restaurant was booked every night (Will explain that further down the line). The first night we went out to dinner, we waited 45 mins to be greeted, then when the waiter came to the table we were told we had to order food and drinks separately and had to wait for the second waiter to come for food. Another 45 mins after ordering food, the food came out cold and over cooked. This was a persistent issue every night we ate there at the steak house. So much so, that as a joke I told my girlfriend that I was going order my steak the final night rare and what do you know...it FINALLY came out Medium Rare!

Next, we had the Hibachi restaurant reserved for my birthday. We arrived on time to a completed packed Hibachi grill. That was perfectly fine because there are 3 grills for everyone to sit around, so we just figured we’d be seated at one of the other two grills.

We would definitely return to the Zel
Punta Cana. The staff were very friendly, especially our personal concierge Keirin who made sure our anniversary trip was great. Fabian at the beach cabana was also great! The food was good, service at time at the swim up was slow for drinks but overall a great time!

The only down side would be the vendors at the beach coming up every 3-5minutes even when turning them down which made it hard to relax. We are in support of the local industry but we have been to other resorts in the Caribbean that have designated vendor areas on the beach for the tourists to enjoy if they want to Purchase crafts or tours if they choose or go straight to the beach to relax.

If you’re looking for a chill, boutique like resort, this is the place for you. It’s chic and decorated in a very modern way.

Food: buffet open 3 times a day. We had breakfast and dinner. Both times have many options, from omelette stations to oatmeal or deli meat if that’s your jam. There’s jam too lol

Volcan: steak house. Honestly surprised. The past resorts had mediocre food but this was actually good. Appetizers and dinner was solid. My mom got the meat platter and said the ribs were the best, then chicken and then the steak was kinda dry and tough. My salmon was ok. Portions are large so come hungry.

Tacorini: appetizer was strange, goat cheese with bread and my mom had a salad which was ok. But dinner was great. She had a gyro and I had falafel tacos. Both excellent. Side of rice and potatoes also great. Idk why they require reservation because the place was empty lol we came back another time and it was great again. We got the same meals.

Asian: we did the hibachi style dinner. Comes with sushi and then fried rice with meat cooked in front of you. Very very flavorful! Honestly so surprised. Food overall was great.

Beach club: Ricardo was great! I wish it had more umbrellas, we were lucky and got some cuz the sun and I are in a battle and let’s just say if lose every time. They had the cabanas but they cost $100 which is steep. Comes with beer or champagne.

Our room had a partial pool view. Air conditioner and ceiling fans worked really well did not have a wet smell or mold anywhere. Rooms were nice, well equipped with toiletries, high pressure steamer.ñ and hair dryer. Linens and towels could’ve been a little softer or smoother. Beach towels were fluffier than the ones provided in room. Majority of the staDid not do anything spa related. Resort has digital check in system on a slow server. No front desk so reservations are also digital at 2 podiums towards the lobby. Overall, resort was a nice size so you don’t have to walk further than 3 - 5 mins to get to restaurants, lobby/ shuttle that will take you to the beach.

I truly enjoyed this resort for my short stay. They worked with my family to make sure we had rooms beside each other. I love that it was relatively quiet even though it wasn’t adults only. Pools were clean and plentiful.

Raphy was such a great host and made sure we had everything we needed as well as made my sister have a memorable birthday. Such a sweet guy and very kind. Other staff were also very kind and helpful in the restaurants. Gabriel was always on time with the beach shuttle.

My only complaint is that somehow, mosquitos and I mean lots of mosquitos kept getting into our room even though no doors were left open. This didn’t happen in my family’s room.

The staff who work there are very friendly. Everywhere you go, they greet you with a warm smile and try to help with anything you need. Amazing peoples. Frank, the guest assistant and the front desk, Jose Rene Vasquez Mota, their professional work is above the chart. All the restaurant workers are amazing people. The whole family wants to go back next summer

Very nice resort. There’s a golf cart every 5 minutes that will drop and pick you up to the beach. Staff aren’t as attentive. I had to walk to the bar and look for waiters to bring us drinks. They don’t go to your table asking if you need anything when you’re dining in the buffet. Drinks were really good. My favorite and most taste-full food was at the beach. Also I would give it a 10/10 but they took 2 hours to give us our room. We arrived from the airport ready to check in at 2. They said the room was going to be ready at3pm. They didn’t give us our room until 4:30. Other than that good resort

Great hospitality, very safe place and great ambiance. The design of the hotel looks so nice, very clean and located in a good neighborhood. Very close to shopping centers and fun activities such as CoCo bongo, almost 3-5 minutes drive. The foods might not be the best or it might just didn’t go well with our taste but I do recommend to make reservations at the restaurants instead of eating at the buffet. Includes 4 restaurants, Tacorini was the best between all but the other ones still good too. Room service still needs to be improved cause they take a long time and barely responsive. Reception team, management and the staff so respectful, helpful, kind and caring. Had such a good experience checking in-out with Andres, made the whole process easier and walked us through everything and reassured everyone that we can reach out to him if we need anything. The overnight team also so caring, transporting us with golf cars to different areas of the resort, Keirin, Osvaldo and the security team made us feel so safe and comfortable. They do also offer tours and exploring options, Jose helped us to pick the best options aligned with our preferences and time. The Wellness and Spa center is so overpriced meanwhile, but instead they do a lot of fun activities and they offer free admission to Fun republic which is an area including so much things to do (parks,mini golf,amusement,disco…) which is really close and it’s in the same resort and they will give you ride with golf cars.

There are many things to love about this resort and then a couple of serious deal breakers. I found the resort lovely with very friendly staff. It is small and on the quiet side but I knew that going in. It never felt crowded and I didn't mind the short shuttle ride to the beach as trollys ran constantly or I could walk there in 10 minutes down a nice path. Here is the huge issue: we found the quality of the food and drinks poor. We don't drink alcohol but we're looking forward to enjoying fresh juices. Everything was an artificial flavored mix. Even the orange juice and pineapple juice! Every lunch and dinner at the buffet at the hot stand is pasta. The biggest issue is food safety and freshnes. It looked fancy but was usually either hot food left out to cool or cold food that wasn't cold enough. Patries or bread were often stale We mentioned it to a couple of managers but it is really an infrastructure issue, not the fault of the staff. Either the company invests in that level of heating and cooling machinery for food or it doesn't. Zel does not and we paid the price with both my husband and I getting food poisoning. When we accessed antibiotics upon our return, we both started to feel better. We were told we would have to pay $300 for the doctor to come to the room to see my spouse who was very ill. It was just so disappointing to pay thousands of dollars and struggle through GI issues throughout the vacation. Never again.

I had a good overall stay at this hotel. The room was excellent, very clean, well maintained, and comfortable, which made a big difference during my visit. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, and the spa facilities were also quite good and relaxing.

The bar and food, however, were fairly average compared to the rest of the experience, nothing particularly special, but they got the job done.

Overall, it was a solid stay. While not exceptional in every aspect.

The hotel itself is stunning. It’s quiet and very clean. The food was the worst food I have ever had on vacation. Very little selection and tiny tiny buffet. Everything was cold and poorly made. Very few options for health conscious dining. The drinks were sugary, booze watered down, and inconsistent everywhere. Even the menu online did not reflect the bars. I asked what was in drinks and it did not reflect the menu. Could never get a consistently made beverage or a smile. Staff is cold, unsmiling and unhelpful. Was told wrong dining times by our check in concierge who stated we could not eat before 8 am. We told him we get up early to enjoy the day and go to the gym and he said no food before 8. On day 4 we found out it was open at 7! Gym is tiny, whole property pumps seriously perfumed product in the air, unorganized and few activities. Those activities filled up fast so they were only available to 13 people at a time and you can’t pre sign up for them. This place is surviving on the beauty and will suffer for the service and food. Would never return and would not recommend if you’d like to eat or drink anything palatable or have service with a smile or interaction.

Incredible resort. Really lovely room and just gorgeous resort grounds (e.g. pool area and other common areas). The staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful (especially Yajaira at the coffee shop, Estefany in the restaurants, Dangelisse and Jasmine who organized and led activities). Also, all the free activities guests could take part in were next level and really enjoyable.I cannot recommend this place enough. You will love it. A relaxing, beautiful place (unreal greenery) and a fantastic beach club.
