Zel was excellent!!! Zel swim up suite was amazing ! I had 3 rooms booked! The staff was amazing !! The Volcan steak restaurant was our favorite!! The staff was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed and wanted !! This place is truly a hidden gem!! We will be back to vacation here again!! Thank you to our concierge Raphy!! We had bed bugs in our room, they didn’t spray the property to prevent insects. Food ok everyday mostly the same and cold . Staff didn’t speak English except in the reception. You had to take a trolley to get to the beach, bummer. Overall property small but cozy, nice pools, would not visit again

We faced a few challenges with cleanliness, service and food. I addressed these to Management and they were extremely receptive and appreciative of my feedback. The property is new (less than a year old) so they are still in the opening phase. They have the right attitude, which is what matters. I'm sure they will overcome these challenges and become an excellent property. The infrastructure and design are amazing. Their concept too, very wellness focused. I would like to recognize Romina from guest services and Emanuel from F&B. Amazing both! Super servicial and go getter attitude.

We just returned from a 6 day trip for my husband’s birthday with our two children and girlfriend. We are extremely happy with Zel Punta Cana. Everything from the spacious rooms beautiful beach and exceptional staff made our stay here an unforgettable one. Carlos the activity director was beyond a pleasure as well as most everyone that worked at the hotel. The hotel couldn’t do enough for my family. The ride to the beach takes only a few short minutes and was a nice scenic ride through beautiful well kept grounds. We all enjoyed the golf cart ride and all the drivers were extremely kind. Food was delicious and service at all dining options was great. Our favorite was Volcan but all were delicious. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

It is a wonderful place to stay! Loved the room with the swim up pool. The beach is a few minutes away but they have a free shuttle going to the beach and to their other resort. The all inclusive was wonderful, they even stock your room with drinks and snacks.
You should be aware that if you only speak English, you may have some communication issues. Most of the staff speak Spanish and very little English.

This was our first trip to the Dominican and certainly won’t be our last. The resort is absolutely gorgeous. The grounds and pools are very well maintained. The staff and service was a solid 10/10. The food was delicious and we always had a cold drink in our hands. The staff even filled our tub up outside with bubbles and rose petals on our last night. We plan on returning in May.

The welcoming and service throughout our stay was superb. Juan Bautista, our welcome supervisor did an excellent job making sure that our stay was a pleasant one and exceeding our expectations. Food and restaurants were also far better than we expected. The art crafting activities were also great tokens and relaxing experience which turned into great souvenirs to keep from out unforgettable weekend. The private beach club is also very nice and appetizers are outstanding. Highly recommnded place to stay if you look for a quiet, relaxing, beatifully appointed accomodation with great service at a reasonable price.

This hotel is clearly aiming to deliver a five-star experience, and there are some genuinely excellent elements — beautiful rooms, an exceptionally comfortable bed, and consistently kind, well-intentioned staff.

Unfortunately, my stay was affected by a number of small but recurring issues. The hotel app and room service menus were often inaccurate, and there were several maintenance and inspection issues that shouldn’t occur at this level.

Dining was inconsistent: friendly service throughout, but cold food on one occasion, limited or misleading menus on others, and room service orders that didn’t match what was advertised. The spa treatment itself was excellent, but important information wasn’t clearly explained upfront.

Despite the number of issues raised during my stay, no gesture of goodwill or compensation was offered beyond apologies.

With stronger attention to detail and clearer communication, this could be an excellent hotel; at present, the experience does not consistently match five-star expectations.

We stayed at Zel Punta Cana from January 14 to January 20, 2026. The hotel is located in the Bavaro area, about 20 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport.

The resort is brand new, modern, and well maintained. Check in was fast and smooth, and the staff is generally friendly, although service can be slow at times and English is not widely spoken.

The rooms are the strongest point of this hotel. They are spacious, modern, and clean, with a very comfortable bed. The balcony with a jacuzzi overlooking the pool is a great feature. However, humidity inside the room is noticeable, towels and linens look worn, and only one large bath towel is provided. The shower head is also installed quite low.

There are several large and clean swimming pools. The beach is beautiful and clean, with shuttle access from the lobby that works well. The beach bar and restaurant are enjoyable.

Food quality at the buffet is acceptable, but variety is limited, and items are not always refilled later. The resort has only three restaurants, with average overall quality. Entertainment is very limited, making the resort extremely quiet. There is no convenience store on site, and communication before arrival was poor, as emails to the reservation department were not answered.

Overall, we were satisfied with our stay. This hotel is best suited for travelers looking for a modern, clean, and peaceful place to relax rather than a lively all inclusive experience.

Our room was very nice, we had the suite with the living room and very large balcony. It was very private and spacious. The towels in the room were old looking, they were clean but they definitely need to update them. We weren’t given any hand towels or washcloths. We called and they brought 2 hand towels and no washcloths.
Service was extremely inconsistent, we didn’t get a butler, other people did. During check in, we noticed other people that were checking in were given a tour of the property, we were taken to a staircase and told your room is up there. We were also told to go to the restaurant at 9:00 in the morning to make dinner reservations. Which we did, later we overheard people talking to their butler about making reservations which he did for them. Later in the week we discovered a screen in the buffet that you could make reservations, so we used that. Service at the buffet and bar were touch and go, the bar took a long time and it wasn’t that busy and if you wanted a drink when you went to the buffet, even water, sometimes they’d come over, other times they didn’t or they’d take your drink order and never come back, very inconsistent, same with the pool service.This resort is very quiet, which we liked. There was no bar to sit at which I found strange. The grounds are lovely,we walked to the beach every day instead of taking the shuttle. It’s very safe. The people working at the resort were very friendly. I just think they need to work out a few things.

Had a great 11 night stay at Zel. The staff are friendly and helpful, despite a small language barrier of English. Rooms are spacious but could improve some minor details- had to ring for fresh towels on a few occasions, the sinks were never washed down during stay but bedding spotless and made every day. The bathroom door in our room was slightly broken at the hinge and the hairdryer didn’t work. The restaurants are great and the breakfast options are 10/10. Gets a little boring for lunch and dinner but the pool restaurant is great and can also be used at dinner as well as lunch. Plenty of drink options- staff need more glass/cups and stock. Sometimes they run out of the correct glass ie getting a beer in a wine glass and they run low on stock, often having to get stuff from another bar. Plenty of activities to do in the hotel and entertainment was good and wasn’t something we was expecting. I would stay again. Private beach area is worth all the money- very chilled, great bar and excellent sunbeds. Take the cart which is less than 5 mins and never a wait for one.

Can't recommend Zel Punta Cana highly enough. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained, the staff are very kind, attentive, and funny (shout out to Pedro, Suriya and others!) and the whole vibe is elegant chill. We spent a very relaxing week where the only decisions we had to make were what to eat, whether to go to the beach or the pool, and which of the many covered beach- or pool-side chairs to lounge in. The room was spacious and very clean, the food was excellent (healthy and delicious...keto/Paleo compliant if you want). And there was always a spot - no beach towel bingo trying to stake out a spot at the crack of dawn. We're already planning next year's return. Thank you so much Zel

I stayed at this hotel to celebrate my birthday with a group of friends (there were 10 of us in total), and thanks to Romina, my experience was truly excellent. She took care of all the assistance and logistics to make the celebration a success: she organized the cake, the restaurant reservation and decoration, surprised me with a beautiful birthday gift, and even took Polaroid photos for us to keep as a memory. She checked in on me throughout my stay and always went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy. Her attention truly made a difference in our experience.

As for the hotel itself, the property is beautiful, modern, and peaceful. The vibe is modern and boho-chic, and the background music is perfect for relaxing, chatting, sunbathing, or even reading. The rooms are very spacious, comfortable, modern, and extremely clean, with many amenities that make the stay even more enjoyable.

As a suggestion, it would be great to have more vegetarian options. However, I would like to highlight that one evening, Chef Simeon prepared customized vegetarian dishes for us, which was the highlight of the night and a gesture we truly appreciated.

As for areas of improvement, we noticed that not all staff members were equally attentive; at times the service was a bit slow and the attitude could have been better. Additionally, the internet connection was not always optimal.

In general it was great, but we had a few issues with a reservation in a restaurant and they had miscommunication, they told us about a party at the beach, they supposed to have tapas and open bar and 2 hr before a lady came to us and told us that we must buy a bottle to be able to joing the party, at the end we went expecting to be kick out... but turns out that was a miscommunication of the staff from the hotel.

During our last night, we wanted to go to Volcano restaurant, we loved a plate from them... so, we wanted before leaving, and ohhh that night it wasn'tavailable, I told the waiter about it and the next thing, the chef was talking with us, explainedthe process of the dish and he told us that it need it little more of cooking, but if i want it he could check if there were a piece ready, ans it was!!!! So, we where very glad for the kindness of chef Paulino.

The room was comfy and spacious, food was great, all the staff was very gentle.

Oh, and the front desk coffee machine was amazing!

Overall, our experience at Zel was very good. I will review based on areas of strength and weakness:

Strengths

- Very hospitable staff—always willing to help, go the extra mile, and do anything within their capability to improve your experience. Our concierge Rafael (Rafi) was definitely a standout to us.
- Beautiful design, decor, and overall vibe. Zel very much encompasses a boho/Mediterranean vibe, and the feel of every space from the lobby to the hallways to the rooms themselves was very calming and aesthetically pleasing.
- Incredible pools. The resort has multiple pools including a shallow one specifically for children, and the pools never felt crowded. They were also extremely clean and well-maintained. There were multiple different water features, whirlpools, and swim-up eating/lounging areas built in. There was a pool for everyone—the main pool had lots of events including poolside dancing, yoga, Pilates etc. and the pools to the side were much more calm and less populated for those wanting a more relaxed atmosphere.

BUT....

- the food quality is below the average, often seeing the hair in the food, meat was not fully cooked and toast, harsh brown, pancake & waffle was overcooked

- NO Front Desk, communicate with staff by using WhatsApp, lack of communication and no immediate attention on certain needs. Even with personal consierge services

- Lack of training for the room services team. No replacement or refill for toilet paper, tissue box, shampoo and bodywash even when we indicated the change or refill needed.

Start to finish: check-in was a breeze, loved the wrist door key, crushed that there was NO elevator to top floor (selected for view,) luggage delivery was prompt, could have used some assistance or in-room instruction on what buttons operated what lights, stocked (daily!) mini-bar was great, spacious and well laid out suite, great shower water pressure and temperature control, decent space on bath vanity, handy sink at mini-bar coffee bar and convenient counter space, really good dining options and superb food choices and quality, ample drink locations and choices both within the hotel and beachside, pool amenities clean and children’s area fairly secluded from adult pools, service personnel were all helpful and kind and went out of their way to help, hotel manager was ever present and a joy to talk with. A very beautiful property for sure. We loved the room setup; separate bathroom and toilet. They had a cute sitting room and a separate sleeping area. The food options were diverse, we loved that they included Dominican foods! It being a festive period we were impressed by how they managed everything. We used their beautiful spa and we received excellent services. The manager was making rounds to make sure that everyone was okay. We will be back again!

This was my first experience at Zel Punta Cana, and overall it was a great stay with many positive highlights.
The concierge team was excellent very informative and welcoming. My favorite staff members were Juan Gonzalez and Rafael, who truly stood out with their professionalism and kindness. I’d also like to recognize the woman who delivered room service(Daisy), as well as the bartenders and DJ, who were all great and added to the enjoyable atmosphere.
The restaurants were very good, and the service was accommodating and pleasant. However, the food could be improved. I would love to see more variety in the menu, especially for room service, along with better availability. Food temperature should also be maintained warmer when served.
The rooms were very nice and comfortable, though the cleaning service could definitely be improved for a better overall experience.
Since this is a new hotel in Punta Cana, I believe there is room to elevate the level of service with additional training for some staff members. The one area that really needs attention is beach service. Unfortunately, I constantly had to get up to get my own drinks, as servers were rarely available or visible.
Overall, Zel Punta Cana has great potential. With some improvements in food service, housekeeping, staff training, and beach service, this hotel could become an exceptional destination. I would still recommend it and look forward to seeing how it improves over time.

The beach club was phenomenal. Fabian’s service was exceptional! Him and Luis at Tacorini provided the best service we received during our entire stay. We felt welcomed instantly and felt like VIP guests. Their service was so incredible we returned the next day to be serviced by them again. They offered great recommendations from the menu and were charismatic and empathetic to our needs seeing that we were traveling with an infant. The food at these two locations were incredible! Better than the other restaurants in my opinion. Room service and the buffet had good flavors but everything was cold. Service during breakfast was slow and it took a while to be seated and receive condiments and coffee. The pools were decent and we appreciated the variety in seating. My biggest gripe aside from the cold food is the smoking. Nothing will ruin a meal quicker than smelling the rancid smell of cigarettes. Other parents were at the resort at the same time as us with children of similar ages (below 1 year old) and they were also upset about the smoking. To me that ruined the experience above all else. I don’t want my baby’s developing lungs to be exposed to that when we are embracing nature. Juan at reception was charismatic and welcoming. We needed ice to keep baby’s milk cold because the mini fridge was not cold enough and even lost 12 oz of expressed milk because we didn’t receive ice when requested a few nights. Absolutely heartbreaking. All in all, great for those looking to relax.

My wife and I went here for 8 days and really enjoyed ourselves. The staff are very friendly and the property is spacious but intimate. A lot of people in their 30s at the property, so we met a lot of younger couples and friend groups traveling. We made our own parties in the night club on site which was really fun. Victor, the bartender is an absolute legend! You get a personal concierge who assists you throughout your stay. Our concierge, Andres, was so kind, helpful, and fun. The dining options are limited, but if you are not a picky eater, they are decent quality. I would say overall, if you are a picky person who wants to stay in a fancy place and be waited on like a kind, don't stay here. Probably don't go to Dominican at all. This place is great if you know how to make your own fun, are down to earth, and well traveled already. Overall, it was a lovely stay for us!!!

I recently visited this stunning location, and I was truly impressed by its beauty! The ambiance was lovely, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. However, I did encounter one downside: the food was served cold. I really wish it had been warmer, as that would have made the experience even better. Despite this, I would still highly recommend this place to others for its charm and wonderful staff. Just a little attention to the temperature of the food would make it perfect!

This property was amazing, staff was very friendly and helpful. HUGE SHOUT OUT to RAPHY! This man went above and beyond to make sure my wife and I had a great honey moon. He decorated our room with flowers, balloons, brought us bottles of wine and cake, made dinner reservations for us even went to the pharmacy and got pepto for us when we were having bad heart burn. Raphy is a 5 star employee.
Only not great things I have to say are, food was not awesome. Almost everything was over cooked, dry and very salty. Also they ran out of things several times, we wanted fish tacos for lunch they were out, wanted squid they were out, wanted the drinks that came in a coconut they were out, we ordered aperol spritz they were out of champagne which is no big deal we just got a different drink, but these are things we noticed.

Overall if u come here for the beauty of the resort and the country, want a more mellow relaxing resort and don’t expect a stellar culinary experience I would say this place is perfect.

The staff was so caring and genuine. Unlike anywhere I’ve ever been. If you sit back for a moment you can see it when they move about. They are passionate and take pride in their service to you….aside from the hotel and staff, the only bad thing that didn’t let me personally enjoy my trip and relax is people on the beach trying to sell you things. They keep walking up they make you take pictures with their parrot and tell you to pay them $30-$40 for taking a photograph on your phone sometimes more. I tried relaxing on the beach and people kept walking up trying to sell items and excursions. They don’t work for the hotels but since it’s a public beach they come on it and literally harass people. They have nothing to do with the staff but the hotels can do something about them that would be awesome!

We just got back from an amazing 4 nights at the Zel!!
Our Concierge Andre was awesome! Very attentive and helpful. He responded to all of our questions and made all our activity and restaurant bookings for us!!
Gabriel at the pool was SO amazing and attentive! Super high energy and lots of fun! Ricardo at the beach was so attentive and kind! We can't say enough about all the staff! They really made our vacation enjoyable. It was my birthday and they went out of their way to celebrate!

The hotel is beautiful, food is very good and the activities are great! The Spacktail experience was really lovely and unexpected.

The only suggestion is that they have the poolside restaurant open for dinner. There are limited dinner options and that restaurant was lovely!

The stay at this resort was top tier. Excellent customer service. The facility was amazing! Aesthetically pleasing; clean. The food was great! Beautiful property, large rooms, great beach club. The property itself is perfect, there are just small fixes to make it perfect. The staff is young, and maybe inexperienced at check in lots of confusion, but the managers Alexis and Marc made it better. I would stay again but hopefully the staff at the front desk receives more training. Maintenance and the beach club staff however was above average! We loved Jorge Luis. Mucho amor.

1. The food was really bad, old, dry, flavorless. Cheese can tell has been sitting out for a while, sweets were dry, boxed cereal was stale, bread was brittle and old.
2. Staff seemed uninterested in helping guests.
3. Hard to communicate with staff when no one speaks English.
4. Made reservations for the 2 restaurants that require them. Horrible waiting times we had to leave both of the restaurants because we were waiting on our food for over an hour and waitstaff ignoring us completely.
5. Cleaning crew never replaced our tissues for days nor cleaned the room properly!
6. Ordered room service one time and it was such a hassle getting the order wrong after telling us they understood it over the phone and then the staff comes and says I can't give you milk its a different department you need to call. There is one number and that is for the room service.
7. We go sit at breakfast, we get lucky to have a waitstaff come ask if we need coffee or tea. We go ourselves hunting for them to let them know, we wait for a long time to get anything food related. The only thing fast and efficient is getting the alcohol.
8. Website is horrible, glitches, and barely works properly. Sucks that we can't reserve online.
For a resort that lists itself as luxurious, it is way from that.
Neither would I be recommending nor coming back to Zel. Unfortunately, we told the staff that it was our honeymoon, disappointing that we had stayed there for such occasion.

The resort is amazing , beautiful outdoor spaces , great pools , big and clean rooms . Overall ZEL is a great destination for an amazing get away.
Staff are very polite and friendly . Food is great with loads of varieties ! The resort is pure luxury — calm, beautiful, and perfect for anyone looking to take a break from the world and recharge. I personally recommend this resort to young’s and adults ! Looking forward to getting back soon!

The room was clean. They couldn't give me a room with a king bed. That was a big let down in my book. Points deducted. Grounds are beautiful. Staff was nice. Lobby smelled good. Beach club was the highlight.
