We loved this resort, pools were amazing, water park was a ton of fun for the kids, the food options were really good. Booking ala carte restaurants was made really easy with the help of our concierge Anny Liriano. She did an amazing job helping us and booking everything we needed. HUGE PLUS having her. She stayed in contact with us every day and made she we were always taken care of. Having a concierge is the main reason we booked this resort

We wasted 2 days of our vacation: first night was in bldg 41, in horrible conditions: no AC until midnight, then with the extreme noise, old, dirty furniture, disgusting bathroom, grey towels. We showed the cockroach to the staff next morning and they promised to change it. We spent all day until 6 pm without the room. In the bldg 51, the room was ok. Staff was good. Beach area very nice

The rooms were dated but clean. The staff was ok. Didn’t come across anybody that was rude or unhelpful but none of them went above & beyond either. Pool and beach were beautiful but you need to be up at 7am to get chairs reserved. Spa was wonderful. The buffets were mediocre at best - unique/odd options and nothing seemed very hot & fresh.

We enjoyed our stay - however my only complaint is that I was not given the resources to book my own dinner reservations and we were told we can’t book reservations every night and had to eat at the buffet. Eventually we found out how to book our own reservations because we pay to be there we should be able to eat at the restaurants when we already eat at the buffet twice a day.

Staff was nice - they did rope us into a timeshare presentation without informing us that is what it was. I’m a pretty nice person, I’d rather be told about it than surprised. We also had to follow up with them several times regarding what we were to receive for the 90 minute presentation.

Room was okay - we booked a family room that slept 5 people, ended up in a room that slept 2. I do believe I should have been compensated for the room downgrade but Expedia was unable to reach the hotel. And the hotel seems to things the two rooms are the same - they are not.

I got robed of all my jewelry, money n items n the hotel direct me to make a report to the local precinct.,
The hotel did nothing about it even though they had evidence from surveillance video who did it (an employee) this is unacceptable n to treat a guest like this.,, the rooms r old, phones don’t work, the service is horrible this was a nightmare.,,

Our family had such an amazing time at Melia! Everything was perfect for our family of four (38,39, 7 & 4) Our concierge Anny Liriano was beyond spectacular, she anticipated our needs and helped us with every step of our trip. The food was delicious at every restaurant or buffet & staff were courteous and polite, always making everyone feel welcome. The Beach was perfect soft sand and had lots of fun activities. The water park was a big favourite of our family and was great for all ages with different areas for different swimming abilities and different play styles. The pool was such a fun other water amenity that was close to everything and always had lots of room for everyone. I cannot express enough how much fun we had on our trip at Melia, perfect place for our family vacation. Shows were so great every evening, food was delicious, amenities were wonderful, room was spotless and had enough room for everyone. Everything was way above our expectations and made our trip a fantastic experience no one will forget. Would go back 100%!!!

Our experience fell well below the standard advertised for the price paid and represented very poor value for money.

There were some positives: the children’s evening entertainment was very good, Merkado staff were generally friendly, and the golf cart drivers were helpful. Unfortunately these were outweighed by significant problems.

The room was poorly prepared on arrival. The TV and phone did not work on day one; although the TV was replaced it malfunctioned for much of the stay. The shower head was detached, the toilet seat broken, and the room felt run down with poor finishing. We booked a king bed but received two doubles, and a pre-requested baby cot arrived late and was extremely old and unsuitable.

Restaurant access was a constant frustration. We were repeatedly told our preferred restaurant was unavailable and directed to the buffet, yet availability suddenly appeared on our final night despite many empty tables, suggesting restricted capacity. Breakfast quality was very poor; at 6:40am we were refused service until 7:00am despite food already being laid out. Bazaar staff appeared disengaged and we witnessed tables cleaned using used tissues.

A serious privacy breach occurred when staff attempted to enter our room seconds after knocking while we were asleep and not dressed, waking our baby.
At 4:45pm, while facilities were still open, we were refused beach towels, preventing proper beach use.
Checkout luggage assistance took over an hour

Upon arrival, we got our room upgraded to the level suit which was brilliant. Our room was continuously cleaned and the fridge was re stocked everyday with snacks. Our overall stay was a 8/10. Everything was perfect, the beach, the food, the resort its self with entertainment and its layout. However, the female staff are quite rude. They appear to have an attitude and seem to be angry all the time. This was mainly at the buffet near bavaro beach.

We booked the Meliá Caribe Beach Punta Cana. I was a little skeptical after reading the reviews. However we were very surprised by our findings. I booked a deluxe VIP room, which came with our own Concierge Anny Liriano. What an amazing person. She booked all of our dinner reservations, arranged reservations and transport to an off property restaurant. She checked in with us everyday. She was amazing. We had a small room issue ( not enough towels) she had it resolved within 5 minutes. She was professional, friendly, and amazing. We could not have gotten anyone better.

The resort is huge and very well maintained. The room was a bit dated but served our needs perfectly.

The restaurants were all very good. We didn’t enjoy the Steakhouse as much and Italian was by far the best. Geraldo the manager at the Italian restaurant went above and beyond to make both of our dinners there special. The buffets were good also. The food needed to be a little warmer but there was plenty of variety. They had made to order stations at both breakfast and lunch. Carolina Rivas was exceptional. We always had water and coffee . She was fast, friendly and very attentive. All of the staff was very nice and helpful. There was alway a choice of where to eat. The snack bar by the Rumba bar was great for a snack. The drinks were all very good. Over all the food was good.

First will say this is a large and beautifully kept resort. The rooms were of a good size for our family, and clean but very dated and tired. Rooms also had lots of flies around the drains.

Staff was hit and miss, as a general statement, they were not overly friendly or accommodating.

Amenities were adequate for a hotel this size.

Food left a lot to be desired and attention to/ knowledge of food allergies (gluten specifically) was severely lacking.

I spent a week at Melia Caribe Beach with my wife and 3-year-old daughter and overall it was a great experience. The splash park is wonderful for toddlers up, the beach and main pool are great and I highly recommend the Eco Park excursion for families with young kids.

That's not to say the hotel is without fault. Our family room was a good size but very tired. The cupboard door to the mini bar was broken, so it hung open on one hinge. The woodwork in the bathroom was loose, there was only one hook for towels, there was no toilet roll holder and the room lacked basic items like dressing gowns/bathrobes, slippers, an umbrella or a tote bag. Room cleaning was a bit hit and miss too; the beds were poorly made and I don't think we got clean sheets once during our stay. On the plus side, the main king bed was very comfortable and the shower was great. We were also in a perfect location near the kids' club and splash park and not far from the beach.

The food was also a bit hit and miss. Our best meal by far was at the Mexican restaurant but the Italian was pretty awful and the Dominican uninspiring. Some parts of the buffets were wonderful, others really not!

Also watch out for people claiming to be concierge staff wanting to show you the hotel and give you your $100 voucher. This turned out to be a hustle to get us to sit through a 45-min Melia sales pitch in a different hotel. And we never did get the $100 voucher promised by Expedia, despite asking several times.

The staff was really great, and that's kinda where the great ends. The rooms are dated, pillows lumpy and old which wouldn't be the end of the world, but they were often understaffed at important places like check-in/check-out, concierge service, and poolside/beach service. The larger rooms with kitchens felt incomplete... They had a fridge, kettle, and sink, but no microwave - even though there was an empty space for one - and they didn't have anything like utensils... so basically it's a lot of extra counter and cupboard space for nothing. The food was fine, and sometimes even quite good but often the breakfast buffet would be not-warm, to put it kindly, even at more exclusive restaurants like The Riviera. The Spa was great as was the waterpark for the kids, and the staff like I said earlier, but otherwise there were quite a few annoying bits and I don't think I would recommend it. Oh, and you were constantly being asked to review the resort or their work or the restaurants... I didn't want to review because I wasn't having a great experience, but I am finally relenting.

The Level suite was very spacious and beyond what we expected. The Level experience was great. The Riviera for Level customers was great for our dining. We also loved the pool. Hector and Cecilia served us at the La Hacienda and they also deserve a shout out for their service. As does Reimond at Tauro steak house. The property and rooms were always clean. We would recommend it for sure.

The main issue was not the room or amenities, but the hotel’s lack of effective security and staff response during a serious incident. Despite multiple staff members being present, they were unable to de-escalate the situation or protect guests, including children, teenagers, and a senior guest. Clearer security protocols, better staff training, and faster intervention are needed to ensure guest safety.

Très bel hôtel, immense, avec un accès direct à une plage privée. L’établissement est vraiment magnifique et impressionnant, c’est d’ailleurs pour cette raison que je le recommande malgré certains points négatifs.
Lors de notre séjour, la mer était agitée : l’eau n’était pas turquoise comme sur les réseaux sociaux, avec beaucoup d’algues et de sargasses.
La chambre était propre, spacieuse et agréable, avec une literie très confortable.
Concernant la restauration, il y a du choix mais la qualité reste moyenne, ce qui peut décevoir si l’on est exigeant sur ce point.
Autre point négatif : la “guerre des transats”. Certains touristes donnent des pourboires au personnel pour faire libérer des transats. Nous nous sommes fait retirer un transat et une serviette pendant une baignade, et avons été témoins de ce genre de situation à plusieurs reprises.
Les activités existent mais sont peu visibles : si l’on ne consulte pas régulièrement le planning, on peut facilement passer à côté.
Attention en cas de problème de santé : la consultation du médecin de l’hôtel est facturée 215 €. Il est préférable de consulter à l’extérieur (~100 €). Une pharmacie se trouve juste à côté de l’hôtel ; sinon les médicaments sont livrés depuis loin avec une facture élevée (189€)).
Le personnel est globalement très gentil. Le jour du départ, des douches sont mises à disposition, ce qui est appréciable.
Enfin,l’excursion à l’île Saona est magnifique et vaut le détour, mais le trajet très long depuis cet hôtel

Overall, my stay at Meliá Caribe Beach Resort was very enjoyable and relaxing. The resort is beautiful, well maintained, and offers a true all-inclusive experience. The staff across the property were professional, polite, and culturally respectful, which made the stay feel welcoming from start to finish. Food quality was very good, with plenty of variety, and the restaurants and bars were well organized.
There were, however, a few points that did not fully align with what was stated in my reservation. I did not receive the bottle of wine that was included in the booking details. Additionally, the spa credit listed as a $90 coupon turned out to be three separate $30 coupons, which was clarified only upon arrival at the spa. This was a bit misleading and worth noting for future guests.
Another minor inconvenience was the availability of beach towels and seating. Early in the day, many guests would pick up towels and “reserve” pool or beach chairs for long periods, which resulted in waiting times for towels and limited seating later on.
Despite these issues, the overall experience was very positive. The resort atmosphere, service quality, and amenities made up for the small drawbacks. With clearer communication regarding included perks and better management of towel and chair reservations, this would be an outstanding stay

We enjoyed our stay here for our family of 4.. we were lucky to have such great service from Any Liriano at the guest services. One mistake we made was not booking our excursion through the hotel at the lobby. We booked with the group who sells around the pool and buffet, apparently they don’t work for the resort. On the day of our excursion my wife and kids were sick (pretty sure it was from the frozen chocolate coffee cause they all got it and got sick, I did not have one and was fine)the company who sold us our excursion were not going to let us change dates without a doctors note from the resort doc (prob $300) I told Any our story and she took care of it, we changed dates of our excursion. She also checked in on them daily, sending gatorades for them… huge thanks to Any. Water park was fun, and food was great!
The entertainment group worked hard and put on lots of activities, they were great

The changes to The Level over the last 5 years have only seen benefits taken away. The beach longer offers a convenient option to get food as it was taken over by Zel. Also the change to no longer offering a concur/ butler is concerning. Our concierge for the last 19 years (Eddy Sambo) no longer has this role, impacting his livelihood and guests stays. We love the resort and people but have been disappointed each year to see the changes that have not been added service

I was really excited to stay here because I visited a few years ago for a wedding. However, when visiting again with my wife and toddler, I was 100% disappointed. Our rooms AC unit was down two times. After switching rooms, the cool started kick in a little but not completely.There was a leak coming from the ceiling. The building definitely needs some work.

The first night, our pillow cases and sheets had stains. Made me question the cleanliness of the rooms.

We made a reservation at the steakhouse and waited an hour to be seated and didn’t start eating until an hour after that. Having that experience did not make us want to pay for the Hibachi experience.
We expressed our concerns to Oscar at guest services about the non working AC unit the first two night and ceiling leak.. he offered to give us a beach cabana for free, discounted (not free) experience at the hibachi spot, or changing our room again. To switch rooms for the 2nd or 3rd time would’ve been too much especially being we were already approaching our final hours of our trip. I feel in situations like this, a credit of some sort should have been applied or maybe after the first night with the defected AC unit, a room upgrade would be nice.

The MAIN Highlight of the trip was the Meliá bartender, Olimer! He’s at the olives bar in lobby area (3p-11p)! He was amazing, attentive to all guests and personable! I wouldn’t recommend coming here at all but if you plan to or have no choice, pay a visit to Olimer!

Good hotel, but unacceptable handling of theft

The hotel itself was good, and the stay started well. However, my watch was stolen from my room during my stay. I reported the theft immediately, and the staff came to the room right away to make a report.

After extensive discussions, the hotel claimed they were not responsible and refused to compensate me for my stolen property. This response is unacceptable, especially considering the theft happened inside the hotel room.

This situation completely ruined my experience, and I would not feel comfortable staying here again.

The hotel is a little old, the rooms should be remodeled and adapted for the high cost they have. the staff and the general online service very good. the food in the buffet excellent, the experience in the restaurants very low should improve the menu and the quality of the portions and the quality of the food in the specialty restaurants. and the tour to know the other hotels in the chain and the offers or promotions offered by one should fight to make them be It takes a little more organization when it is high season and there is a large volume of people to have the pools on time.

Check in process needs work. Our bathroom in our room would not always flush. Could not get dining reservations at several places and at the places we got the dinning room was half full. Most of the staff were friendly which is a plus, however if you asked directions to a place in the resort, staff had no idea.

The staff here are AMAZING!! We originally booked elsewhere and had so many issues that we ended our last 5 nights at Melia Caribe and it was amazing. The staff are so friendly and really want to make your stay great. We arrived at almost 11pm and they placed us vip, room near the ocean and happily welcomed us at that time of night. Food was good but what makes this place amazing is there is something for the kids to do the whole day! Water park during the day, playstations for the kids, game room and a separate play place you take a shuttle to for miniature golf, rope climbing. Nightlife was always going on. Although resort needs some upgrading i would gladly come back for the staff and endless things to do for my son. Thank you for making our trip a memorable one! We are so grateful to the staff and will be back in a few months! My son loves it so much and didn't want to leave! Thank you again for everything!

Worth upgrading to The Level, the food and service at Riviera is a lot better and the pool isn’t as busy as the main one. If you’re lucky enough to be served by Santa then you will be well looked after she is the best - each morning and afternoon she knew exactly what we needed and had it ready for us.

The hotel grounds are stunning, buggy service is great and the peacocks roaming the grounds are stunning.

Rooms could do with an upgrade but they are spacious and do their job.

Kids Club staff are lovely, they put on so much for the kids and have such good energy! They are brilliant

Superb services and the hospitality what’s gonna bring me back here. The hotel is absolutely stunning, but the service is even better. I want to especially thank any liriano and neztalis from the front desk they were awesome. Also all the porters and bartenders were amazing. I definitely recommend this hotel if you want a peaceful and fun place to relax. Also forgot to mention all the nightly activities were awesome. You get a show and a party after.

The whole experience was amazing for my family! Our concierge Any was amazing and truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time and didn’t go without or missing out on anything. The spa was very relaxing and Paula was great. She gave an amazing massage and body wrap. Would definitely recommend for families, couples, girls trip.

My husband and I were very disappointed with our stay here at the Melia Caribe. We chose to upgrade to the level and as VIP Expedia Gold members we had to pay additional $800 we brought it down to $450 and saw no difference from the regular standard experience offered here at your resort. We have been traveling here to Melia Caribe for the past 20 years and have seen all of the changes with staffing, especially the food the complementary lobster that was once offered at the Gabi Restaurant the level which is now called the Riviera. The buffet stations at the front the Riviera and the back by the beach are all the same food little or no meat options! steak options were available unless you book your seat at a sitdown restaurant.

There were no activities by the pool, the shows at night were geared more towards the kids
came across the level beach, barefoot restaurant, which is now part of Zel-which now we have no beach restaurant, which should be an option as part of level guests-we also do not have any private Concierge golf cart service! Huge disappointment also, there was no level bag in our room. Upon arrival I had to ask for it and normally we would get a complementary bottle of rum and appetizer or fruit upon arrival which was not in our room. With the prices, you are charging here at the Melia. I will pay more next time to go to Cap Cana, the Hyatt, Dreams or St Regis by Marriott and have a better experience with more food options and more hospitality!

My stay here was very enjoyable. The staff was exceptional. From when I arrived, the front desk staff were super friendly and Any quickly greeted me and was able to help me with anything I asked for the whole trip, fast and effectively. She was very nice and assisted me in many ways to ensure we had a great stay. The whole property was beautiful and very very well kept. The activities coordinators specifically “Sexy Body”, Yoby, Elizabeth, and really all of them were super fun, entertaining, and got a lot of guests involved with the numerous activities. They made the trip a lot more fun and interactive. I also really enjoyed the fact that the golf carts constantly circled the property and were able to escort you anyway, that was a very nice feature. The wait staff was also very nice, specifically Alexander who helped us multiple times over at Rumba. The bartenders were mostly nice as well and put on a show, I don’t know his exact name but I think it was along the lines of “Edwinson” over at the lobby bar was super entertaining and making us laugh. Carlos was also great too and always seemed to have a smile on his face! Overall this property was BEAUTIFUL, and I would recommend it highly.

The reception staff were respectful, nice and friendly. Room was in good condition. Housekeeping team did a great job. The only thing that needs an attention is not enough beach loungers for the visitors. If you get on the beach little later in the morning, there is no loungers available. You have to run around for one but.....
