Staff to be honest in certain instances were outright rude or disrespectful. There are cultural issues at play, so for full context we are a black, American couple. The DR has a history of negativity towards black people & the USA is not popular internationally right now… our room also had a few issues maintenance wise (no hot water & damaged finishes)

Hotel was spectacular! Food was amazing, water slide was incredible. The arcade and bowling alley were cool, a little expensive. Beach was less than we expected. Too many boats, seaweed and no waves but the water was clear. Room was beautiful, beds were very comfortable. Shower was interesting…ish, my teenage daughter said with a smile.

Lopesan Costa Bavaro is a gem. We stayed for a week. Three generations of our family went, ten in four rooms. Food was great from the wide assortment at the buffet and the specialty restaurants. Our group especially liked the Italian and the Japanese restaurants.

I had the best experience at Lopesan. This was my first time going to Punta Cana and it definitely set the standard high for all future trips. The rooms were clean, the resort was enormous so it didn’t feel like everyone was just in one place. if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation come to Lopesan

Great resort a lot to do. Some areas of improvements is the staff listening better. They tend to misunderstanding in restaurant orders. We needed an iron for our clothes and there is none available. We waited and had to followup a few times. Overall beautiful place.

Our stay at the resort had both some great moments and a few areas that could definitely be improved.

First, we would like to appreciate the Indian food at the resort, which was truly excellent. A special thanks to Chef Sandeep Singh for preparing such delicious and authentic dishes. The quality, taste, and variety of the food were outstanding and made our stay much more enjoyable.

However, our experience at the front desk was not very pleasant. The staff member named Daniel gave us quite a bit of trouble while allocating our rooms, which made the check-in process unnecessarily stressful. We hope the management can improve the guest handling process at the reception.

The resort itself is quite large and beautiful, but unfortunately there were no proper signs or directions for rooms and different activities within the resort. This made it difficult to navigate around the property, especially for first-time visitors.

Regarding the facilities, the pool area was very nice and well maintained, and we enjoyed spending time there. On the other hand, the beach was not very clean, which was a bit disappointing considering it is one of the main attractions of the resort.

Overall, while the food and pool were highlights of our stay, improvements in guest service, signage, and beach cleanliness would greatly enhance the overall experience.

This is by far the most beautiful hotel I have been to in punta Cana. It’s gorgeous!! So much to do ! The amenities are seriously amazing. The food is awesome and the crew is really nice. The waterpark is a must !!! If you have young children you must go to water park. The food is very good and the beach is great too ! I’m definitely coming back

The swim up room was great. The hotel overrall was great beautiful, even the food wasn’t bad for an all inclusive. Lots of activities close to everything can’t beat what you get because it was simply amazing.
However the first day night, the following morning we noticed some blood on the sheets. When we told the cleaning people she just took the undersheet off and remade the bed. Then our lights didn’t turn off which we didn’t notice because we were so drunk the night before. When we called the front desk maintenance came in maybe an hour (it was like 2am so understandable) when maintenance did come he had to move a picture frame to get to the circuit breaker, showed my bf which switch it was to turn the lights off. We weren’t accommodating for either of the two events even when told to management. We don’t make too much of a fuss about it by the time we noticed the lights we were leaving the next day. Overall it was a great resort will still come back.

We ran into issues with payments, however the man checking us in once we got to our room he called the room and said they weren’t bringing our bags we had to go get them from lobby then stated they didn’t charge us correctly his exact words “all I know you owe 380.00” very rude on the phone. Worst experience only nice person was Tony. Kids show we all felt like we were sitting in the dark. Buffet was dark, food was the same every day. Food was maybe a 1star. Needless to say I don’t leave reviews and this says a lot how terrible it was with water also shutting off, room flooded list goes on.

An honest review. Rooms are clean, but smell musty until you adjust the thermostat to 74 and low fan speed. Too much AC and humidity mix causes the smell. The resort staff are friendly and try their best to help you enjoy your stay, but language is definitely a barrier. I will not hold that against them because I can't speak Spanish either. Property grounds are exceptional! Amenities are abundant. Great for adults and children with plenty to do. Pool area was beautiful and the water park was great...even for our 2 year old granddaughter. Towel game is always in play but I had no problem finding a spot for 5 at 8:00am. Check in was relatively easy but they always try to upsell. I'll take care of you if you take care of me is a common theme. Doesn't matter which room you stay in you will hear everything outside your door. Bars....pack your patience, slow service....hold a $5 bill in your hand then they look at you. Drinks are good, but you may get faster service if you wait for someone to come around and ask you. Food is good for the most part, buffet has good options and excellent pizza. Tried a few restaurants and they are decent, nothing to right home about, but depending on how busy the resort is you may not get in unless you book 2 days out. Beach is nice but the ocean is weedy. If I were to go back to the DR I would stay here again.

Everyone was very helpful and kind, the service was excellent. The restaurants were also incredible for dinner and some were open for lunch. Been many times to this resort and quality has decreased a lot. Roaches in room every night. Not enough beach and pool chairs. Waiters were not courteous. Restaurants and buffet are just ok (food used to be so great). Sorry Lopesan. Hope it gets better when the expansion opens.

We recently stayed at Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino in Punta Cana and had a mixed experience overall.

The Good:
The resort itself is beautiful and very well designed. The grounds are spacious, clean, and visually impressive. One of the highlights for families is the water park—our kids absolutely loved it and spent hours there. There’s also a lot to do throughout the day and night: pools, beach access, entertainment, shows at the theater, bars, a nightclub, and various activities around the resort.

The reserved restaurants were actually very good and ended up being some of our best meals during the stay. The breakfast buffet was also solid with plenty of options to start the day.

The Bad:
Some of the overall quality didn’t match the appearance of the resort. The liquor at most bars felt very cheap unless you go to a specific bar and ask for specifics. The room was decent but not great—the mini fridge barely stayed cold, and the AC took a long time to cool the room. For a resort of this level, the room quality could definitely be better.

Restaurant reservations are required for the better dining options and they’re very limited, so I highly recommend booking them as soon as you arrive (or even before if possible). The resort app and reservation system are also not very intuitive. On top of that, the WiFi throughout the property was pretty unreliable at times.

Ocean was just visible but it didn't matter because we had a combination of lush garden and pool view. Everything was pristine at this resort, the staff were wonderful and the food was amazing! I would come back here in a heartbeat! Also, theres a path that goes around the entire resort, so those of you who like to go for a nice morning walk you can enjoy about 1.25 miles, peaceful and flowering vegetation along the way, plus you get to walk me through next to the beach.

Unique Package is a Complete Waste of Money

We paid $800 extra for the “Unique” upgrade at Lopesan Costa Bavaro and received almost none of what was promised.

Early check-in was supposed to be included, yet we waited five hours for our room. When we finally got in, it was the exact same basic room category we had on a previous visit. No upgrades, no special touches, nothing that justified paying extra.

The butler service was essentially useless. Our butler, Ronald, never gave us a tour, struggled to secure restaurant reservations, and seemed completely uninterested in helping. At one point we were simply dropped off at a restaurant with no explanation or follow-up.

Several promised perks never happened. Towels weren’t even in the room for days, and a birthday setup requested in advance was completely forgotten.

When we raised these issues with manager Judith, the interaction was disappointing. She was defensive, spoke over us, and showed very little interest in actually listening to guest concerns.

After a long discussion, the hotel eventually refunded the $800 upgrade, which honestly confirms the package was not delivered as advertised.

The resort itself is beautiful, but the Unique upgrade feels like a marketing gimmick rather than a real premium experience.

If you’re considering paying extra for it, save your money.

I have stayed here before. The resort is beautiful and everything you need is within the hotel. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. We made reservations for Inari, the steakhouse and the Mexican restaurant. All were on point. Our favorite was the steakhouse until we tried Gondola our last night. Absolutely incredible! From the appetizers til dessert the food and staff was the best. We did also enjoy the brownie desserts at The Summit. Plenty of things to do and you can book things through them or next door at on the beach.

The hotel has a beautiful building and a fairly clean beach, and overall cleanliness is acceptable. However, service and food quality need improvement. Room arrangements were not as promised, and staff were inconsistent — some were excellent, while others were very poor. There were serious concerns, including alcohol being served twice to a 6-year-old child and several family members experiencing stomach issues after eating. The hotel staff did not seem very supportive, and booking attractions through the hotel was not recommended due to misleading promises. Maintenance is not perfect but appears to be improving. Guests should also avoid using the ATM at the nearby market, as it may be a scam.

My husband and I both work in customer service so we tend to always stay positive and optimistic with any interactions. I hate to say, our trip was absolutely horrendous. From arrival we were greeted with negativity, a room that smelled like stagnant water (and our ceiling actually collapsed with water), broken tiles, poor food (this wasn’t our first all inclusive so we knew what to expect - this was so far below), an extremely tedious and non functioning dinner reserve system, broken fridges, etc. The big water park was the only redeeming factor. I’d highly consider researching other properties to have a pleasant family trip.

Beautiful resort and beach. But very big, over 1,000 rooms, very spread out. I went in February, thinking I was avoiding the crowds, I can’t imagine it during summer or holidays. Some staff were great, but inconsistent, probably due to the size of the hotel. I wasn’t loving the food, I am a bit picky but I heard the same from other guests. My balcony was amazing, spacious and a nice grt away from the masses.

The Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort is a visually stunning property with a lot of potential, but our experience was marred by rigid management and a lack of customer focus. While we enjoyed the overall atmosphere and the food was decent for an all-inclusive, the logistical headaches made our stay more stressful than it should have been.
The Room Assignment Debacle
We traveled as a large group of four families. Understanding the complexity of resort bookings, we reached out several weeks in advance to request rooms located near each other. Despite our proactive communication, the hotel did the exact opposite—they scattered us across every corner of the resort. Being completely separated made coordinating activities and spending time together unnecessarily difficult. It felt as though our requests weren’t just ignored, but disregarded entirely.
The Infamous Towel Policy
One of the most frustrating aspects of the stay was the towel policy. The resort charges a $25 fee for lost towels, which might sound reasonable on paper, but in practice, it creates a toxic environment. Because the staff is so strict about the return, it essentially incentivizes guests to \"steal\" towels from one another's chairs just to avoid the fine. It’s a bizarre system that breeds distrust among guests and is a major buzzkill for a vacation.

The room was SO outdated and there was no fridge or any sore of amenities in the rooms. The staff was ok, they were not helpful at first but it did get better the more staff we ment. There’s zero water bottles unless you buy them at the gift shop. I went with a couple girls and we would never go to the breeze again. It ruined Bahamas for us. Unfortunately, we booked Riu first, we had to cancel with no refund so we went with a cheaper option since we had to pay for it again and i regret it. Don’t stay here unless you want the cheapest hotel with barely any amenities and cheap, CHEAP liquor. I would never recommend this resort to anyone!

The room was nice and big, with plenty of storage. The mini bar lacked \"bar\"...only 2 beers and you only got them again if they cleaned. The staff were wonderful. The food is what you would expect for a large resort, ok but nothing spectacular. One thing I wish I had known was how much seaweed there was on the beach and in the water, it was a lot.

The hotel was very nice… although very large. Too large maybe (almost 1/2 mile from the beach to the water park. The staff was not very nice… not mean, but certainly not happy or accommodating. They did not hsve enough pool chairs for all the people booked… several altercations between guests stealing previously saved chairs. The entertainment staff was bad! And the nightly shows we good… but a 10pm start was much too late for a family with kids(9&6)
I will say, it was the best resort food we have experienced… this is our 6th all inclusive!

The rooms were great, the staff were wonderful, however I felt that everything was so spaced apart. The layout seemed scattered. The pool was far from our room as our room was above the main entrance of the hotel. I believe there should be more pools. The food for room service was very limited. Would have been nice for more options. I give this resort an average rating more so because of the layout of the resort. I would not recommend this resort for anyone with mobile issues as well.

Food was really great throughout our stsy, Due to amount of days we only ate at two speciality restauants Mareas and japanese one. Both were delicious. Staff at bars were great too. We did not like food at the Valley its best for drinks in our opinion. Overall great resorrt you wont be bored it’s big so much to do. Only thing id recommend is assistance for those with mobilities issues due to it being so big.

I travel to the Dominican Republic frequently and have brought my family to Punta Cana more than 20 times, so we are very familiar with the destination and the service standards at comparable resorts.

While the property itself is beautiful and well maintained, the service was consistently disappointing. Even as a fluent Spanish speaker, I found it difficult to receive timely and attentive service throughout our stay.

One of the biggest frustrations was the inability to secure dinner reservations. As a result, we were forced to dine at the buffet most evenings, which significantly diminished the overall experience.

The beach had no service whatsoever, which was surprising for a resort at this price point. Additionally, the bars appeared to be significantly understaffed, resulting in long lineups and extended wait times throughout the day and evening.

The room layout was also poorly designed for families. There was very little privacy, making it uncomfortable and impractical for parents traveling with children.

Considering the overall cost, I simply do not see the value. There are other resorts in Punta Cana that deliver a far stronger service experience at a similar or lower price.

Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will not be returning to this property or any Lopesan resorts. It did not justify the investment.

Kudos to the architects and the resort owners - the grounds are immaculate and beautifully maintained, with every detail clearly well thought out. The beach, pool, and retail areas are pristine and inviting. The kids’ water park is a fantastic bonus, especially for families with young children. The staff were incredibly helpful and truly deserve a shout-out.
