The resort is very large, clean, and the trolley service across the property was helpful. However, the overall experience was disappointing.

The staff was not very friendly or helpful, and communication was difficult because very few staff members spoke English. We felt completely lost during the first couple of days because there was no one available to clearly explain where things were or how everything worked.

The food was average, and we had no luck getting reservations at any restaurants, even though we tried as soon as we checked in. The buffet areas were very crowded, and there were very few restaurant options available. We also had trouble getting a simple coffee order right throughout the stay.

Another issue was the towel center closing immediately when the pool closed, leaving no option to return towels unless we took them back to the room.

Overall, the resort is clean and transportation around the property is good, but the lack of helpful staff, poor communication, crowded dining areas, and difficulty getting restaurant reservations made the stay frustrating.

Beautiful resort but make sure to upgrade the premium if you want all inclusive meaning room service, access to special pools and exclusive dining.
The language barrier for English was quite difficult for us as none of us speak any Spanish. Brush up on your Spanish before going. The app on my phone did not help, due to the dialect difference.

Our vacation were great. But I think the hotel need to improve a little bit more. My parents room were perfect. In our case . We get an old room. The shower were crazy , all water out of the shower because it was no door on the shower. The air conditioner did not cold enough, and the noise from it was so annoying. The sink were broken because every time we use it, the water stuck for hours. That’s the kind of situation we live but do not stopped us from have a great vacation. I just think is not fair to be paying for a quality hotel and get those issues. Hope in the future visit this property without these issues

I am extremely disappointed with my stay. The biggest issue was the Wi-Fi, which did not work for four out of the five days of my stay. I missed three important work meetings because of it. Every time I asked for help, I was simply told to go to the lobby. That is not a reasonable solution when you need to be on camera for professional meetings.

The service was equally frustrating. We requested clean towels, but they did not arrive until two hours later—and only after calling three separate times.

To make matters worse, there were cockroaches in our room. I got tired of killing them myself. When I reported the issue, the only solutions offered were to move me to another room when I only had one day left of my stay or to have someone come spray the room. Neither option addressed the inconvenience or made up for the poor experience.

Overall, this was one of the worst hotel stays I have ever had. Between the unreliable Wi-Fi for four out of five days, poor customer service, delayed housekeeping, and the cockroach infestation, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone—especially if you rely on internet access for work. I expected much better accommodations and service for what I paid. I will not be returning, and I hope management takes these issues seriously so future guests do not have to endure the same experience.

My 2nd time saying here. First time as a family with our children, this time just my husband and I. I love the friendly staff, the food, the property is well maintained. There was a ton of sargassum when we arrived, but the workers worked very hard to get rid of it overnight into the early morning. The massages at U-SPA were also amazing! I’d definitely stay here again and again and again!

I stayed here with a large family group to celebrate our engagement, and it was a highly frustrating experience.

Right from the start, check-in took forever. My fiancé and I had to change rooms three times; the first was dirty with broken items, the second was covered in black mold, and the third had a very weak AC. Multiple family members in our group had to go through the exact same room-switching ordeal.

To make matters worse, we saw cockroaches near the food stations and around the bar area. This was completely unacceptable. I would not recommend staying here.

The stay was awesome food was good compared to other resorts but the housekeeping was mehh.the real star was brandol Ortega. This man didn't let me lift a finger if it wasn't for him we would of been done. Even if it was a bottle of water he made sure I got it. He deserves a raise i didn't even have to go to the lobby he booked every restaurant every excursion even my transfer guys if u go request him noone measures up to this guy.god bless DR and Brandol Ortega

Family of four with our review. Pros: the pool was large. The pool was also next to the beach. So this made it easy to go back and forth to the beach and pool. There was a lot of seaweed but the staff was great in attempting to clean it up as much as they could. They have a lot of cute boutique shops within the resort. Cons: the resort was fairly dirty. In fact, we requested a new room the day we arrived as there was urine all over our toilet and the floors were very dirty. The new room was cleaner, but was very run down. One of the locks on the main door did not work. Then the lock on one of the patio slider doors did not work and my husband had to rig something up to “lock” it. The food was barely serviceable. You have to be very cautious with any fruits/vegetables/seafood to avoid getting sick. We spoke with many families who became sick. Staff is not very friendly and make it clear that they are not there to serve you. We are glad we went for the experience but will not be going back.

Im not one to leave bad reviews or bash a business but this hotel staff a lot of the women who work here were extremely rude. The rooms the phone didnt work, the food was so bad we got food poisoning. I dont make judgment based on someone else's experience I make my own. We were here for 8 days 7 of those days my family and I were sick because of the food. The only semi good restaurants were mexico lindo and kyoto. The rooms are so outdated it's ridiculous. We stayed at the same hotel chain in Riviera Maya mexico and it was amazing experience. This hotel? Never again.

Mi estancia en el Barceló Bávaro Palace fue muy decepcionante. Desde el primer día tuvimos problemas en la habitación debido a la excesiva humedad. Las paredes literalmente sudaban y el ambiente era incómodo y desagradable. Además, el aire acondicionado no funcionaba correctamente, por lo que la habitación se mantenía húmeda y poco confortable durante toda la estancia.

Aunque el buffet y los restaurantes ofrecían una buena variedad de opciones, la calidad y el sabor de la comida dejaron mucho que desear. Muchos platos carecían de sabor y, lamentablemente, varios miembros de nuestro grupo sufrieron problemas estomacales durante las vacaciones, algo que afectó significativamente nuestra experiencia.

Por otro lado, las instalaciones muestran falta de mantenimiento en algunas áreas y la respuesta a los problemas reportados no fue la esperada para un hotel de esta categoría.

Por el precio que se paga, esperaba una experiencia mucho mejor. La humedad extrema en la habitación, el mal funcionamiento del aire acondicionado y los inconvenientes relacionados con la comida hicieron que nuestras vacaciones estuvieran lejos de ser lo que habíamos planeado. No volvería ni lo recomendaría.

My overall experience at the hotel was mixed. The staff was friendly and, for the most part, had a positive attitude. The service in general was good, and most employees were helpful and courteous throughout my stay.

However, there were several issues that negatively impacted my experience. The air conditioning in my room was not cooling properly, and the room felt warm during the nights. I reported the problem twice, but it was never resolved. I also noticed cockroaches in different areas of the hotel, and on one occasion there was one inside my room.

Additionally, I saw two mice run across the pool area, which was concerning, and there was an unpleasant odor inside the elevators during my stay.

While the staff provided good service, I believe the hotel needs to improve its maintenance, cleanliness, and pest control efforts to provide a better guest experience.

I truly appreciate the exceptional cleanliness and care provided in my room by Fior Rosario. The room was always kept spotless, which made my stay even more enjoyable.
I was also extremely impressed with the outstanding restaurant service provided by Carlos Rodríguez Silvestre. He has excellent customer service and communication skills, making guests feel welcomed and at home. The staff were attentive, caring, and always willing to go the extra mile.
During my stay, I was dealing with a severe hangover, and Carlos kindly arranged for the kitchen to prepare chicken soup for me. Even though there was no soup available at that hour, the team went out of their way to make fresh chicken soup for us at 4:00 a.m. Their willingness to accommodate this request was truly appreciated and demonstrated their dedication to guest satisfaction.
I would also like to give special recognition to the waitstaff, especially Yohina Santana Santiago, Escarlina Risso, and Rochi Beronica montero Duran for their kindness, professionalism, and outstanding service. Thank you all for making our stay so memorable.

Mi experiencia en este hotel ha sido bastante decepcionante. Aunque el hotel se ve bien a primera vista, la falta de aire acondicionado en la mayoría de las áreas comunes hace que la estadía sea muy incómoda. No hay aire acondicionado en los restaurantes, el buffet, la discoteca ni el casino; solo en algunas habitaciones.

La habitación tenía un fuerte olor a madera vieja y las almohadas también desprendían un olor desagradable. Además, varias partes del baño presentan signos evidentes de oxidación y falta de mantenimiento.

Las actividades diarias en la piscina son exactamente las mismas todos los días, al igual que la música de la discoteca, que se repite constantemente sin ninguna variedad. Para empeorar las cosas, hay que hacer reservaciones todos los días para poder comer en los restaurantes; si no logras reservar, prácticamente te quedas sin opciones.

Si vienes del extranjero, recomiendo conseguir un plan de datos móviles, ya que el WiFi del hotel es pésimo: extremadamente lento y muchas veces inutilizable.
Otro problema importante es la enorme cantidad de moscas por todo el hotel. También las sillas del teatro son muy incómodas y dentro hace muchísimo calor. Al terminar los espectáculos, incluso apagan los abanicos, lo que hace la situación aún peor. Después de las 11 de la noche, los únicos lugares abiertos son el casino y la discoteca, y ninguno de los dos tiene aire acondicionado. Además, la comida disponible a esa hora deja mucho que desear. En general 3/10

We had 2 room reserved one of them AC and tv worked the other one it did not. There were multiple outlets that did not work. Most of the staff but not all did not seem happy to help. They acted as if they were doing us a favor. The food in the buffet was not good at all. The restaurants were better. My wife got sick while we were there it was determined it was something she either ate or drank that landed her in the hospital for 3 days. And if you happen to go to the hospital stay away from Hospital IMG. I had to pay close to 8,000 dollars for minimal care.

Unfortunately, this birthday was one to forget. Absolutely zero went right. From time of arrival. Check in was 3 hours plus another hour to upgrade to premium service. Theres plenty of restaurants and bars all over the place, I poured out the first 6 drinks. As of lunch or dinner. If you go to the buffets, you’ll be able to eat, if you want to call it food! Besides myself, the entire family of 10 was in the bathroom more than at the beach. As of the restaurants, highly don’t recommend them. If you’re lucky enough to order, get drinks…prepare to wait along time (if you get it at all) for the poorest made food you can imagine. There’s enough staff all over the place. After visiting most of central and South America I had huge expectations for the Dominican people. I was the only Spanish speaking person in my family and experienced the worst welcoming of the 40 years I’ve been traveling the world. Not only would they either ignore or not answer at all. Would not once attempt to try and speak for accommodation. All this being said. You couldn’t pay me to come back to this hotel or country if you paid me. If you want a beach vacation, please take my trip as an example and look for another destination. Barcelo and Punta Cana are off the travel list for me and my family

The rooms definitely need upgrades and proper maintenance. There were several damaged items that appeared to have been repaired superficially rather than fixed correctly.

Additionally, many employees seemed unmotivated and greeted guests out of obligation rather than with genuine hospitality.

I also experienced a frustrating situation when I reserved a restaurant for seven people. Customer service gave me passes for six and assured me that adding one extra person would not be an issue. However, when we arrived, the restaurant staff said there was no note in the system and had to call the manager. Thankfully, the manager allowed us in, but dealing with these types of misunderstandings is the last thing guests want while on vacation.

To make matters worse, I had to wait over an hour to check in. After traveling, guests expect a smooth arrival process, not long waits and unnecessary complications.

The hotel’s nightlife was also disappointing. There was no DJ at the nightclub; instead, an employee simply played YouTube playlists, and it was the same music every night. We went on multiple nights hoping to experience something different, but unfortunately, there was no variety or entertainment value.

Overall, better communication between departments, improved maintenance, a smoother check-in process, more engaging entertainment, and a more welcoming, guest-focused attitude from staff would greatly improve the overall guest experience.

The room mini fridge was not cold enough. The bread was not fresh. We can not stay at the pool after 7. The life jackets are disgusting. Catamaran are in poor condition.
To get to eat in a restaurant you have to reserve and for 3 days we ate at the buffet because the reservations we have were too late at night 10:30

This was a great place to take our family. The pools were perfect and the beach was just steps away from our room. The staff were friendly and fun. The housekeeping staff took care of rooms daily and they were exceptionally clean.

We had a wonderful family vacation at Barcelo Bavaro Palace. The beach is beautiful, the grounds are well maintained, and there are plenty of activities for families of all ages. The golf course was a highlight, and the Premium Level upgrade was worth it for the added conveniences.

The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. Several employees went out of their way to make my son with special needs feel special, which meant a great deal to our family.

The property itself is showing its age and would benefit from renovations and modernization. The food was somewhat inconsistent overall, although we particularly enjoyed the Mexican and Italian restaurants. We also experienced an air-conditioning issue in our room that took several visits to resolve, but once addressed it worked well.

Because the resort is very large, additional lighting along some walkways in the evening would be helpful.

Overall, we had a memorable week together as a family and would return, particularly for the beach, golf, family atmosphere, and excellent staff.

Todo estaba limpio y hermoso! Buena comida , pero el aire de la habitación FATAL no enfriaba nada, llame a service desk y me dijeron van por ahi y nunca llegaron , tuve que dormir asi con mis 2 menores hasta el otro dia que nos cambiaron la habitacion! Pero todo lo demas fenomenal

The Resort is beautiful, have lots of activities to o during the day. Lots of food but also keep on mind it's not the best food!, The Japanese restaurant was the worst part on our trip because of the food that was salty and the bad service we received.
Rooms were clean every time, you have free drinks also in your fridge, the spa was nice.

En general lo pasamos bien, un lugar bonito, limpio y agradable, muy tranquilo y relajado si es lo que buscas, pero también muy animado y con actividades si lo que quieres es divertirte.
La suite de bien tamaño, cómoda, pero el A/C no podía bajar más de 67° F. Y no enfriaba lo suficiente. El agua de los baños olía mal, dijeron que era el drenaje.
Otra cosa que no me agradó fueron las moscas en los
restaurantes, andaban sobre la comida.

My husband didn’t like the buffet food but I loved it, & the hibachi dinner was amazing. Loved the layout of the resort, & the staff was excellent

Property and rooms were clean.

Bathrooms could be better, we saw some water flowing from the shower to the toilet area. This happened every time we took the shower.
