The staff were helpful when needed and friendly. I like my room cleaned in the mornings and every day that happened during my two week stay.👍 Hotel is centrally located so near many restaurants, shops, etc. And the subway station is only a block away so, for me, location was ideal.

Hotel was good for the area, but you cannot walk at night, must take taxi/uber. Lots of noise of construction from the early morning to evening. Food is good and room is relatively clean.

Good and Comfortable Stay

Nice hotel and good breakfast! There is a construction next door, so don’t plan to sleep in too long ... the room is clean and comfortable (bed sheets too small and come out) but overall good hotel. WiFi was mostly ok. The room has wall plugs for North America’s 110v plugs.

Located in downtown, in a very "scary" area. But, even though it does not look, the area is considered pretty safe for people to walk during the day and night, because they have many gay bars and clubs around. Hotel facilities pretty similar to Holiday Inn hotels.

Convenient Hotel

This was my first time visiting Sao Paulo so I really had little experience in location. The hotel is suitably located to the Republica metro/subway (less than a minute walk). So basically once accessing the metro the city is at your fingertips. For breakfast, the layout was amazing and the selections were super awesome. A great deal of freshly squeezed or blended juices. Lovely cakes and assortment of decadent latin sweet dishes. I had guava cheese for every day of my stay. The fruits were great and pineapple was sweet. I can't say enough about the breakfast. Serjo (our waiter/host was super friendly). Opposite the hotel there is a bar that sells awesome food. We ate there two nights in a row. The rooms are small but clean
Its pretty much a place to sleep and not really spend much time. You can walk to a variety of shopping areas and get a good downtown feel.
For me the hotel met my needs but if I were to visit Sao Paulo I would recommend choosing a hotel on Paulista Avenue. This avenue was a bit more upscale and had that modern downtown feeling.
Aurora and Auroche (where San Juan is located) had a great deal of homeless people. They were everywhere. Even though its not the hotel fault ....I just want people to consider this fact. Not once did I feel threatened by them but as a tourist it was sad to see and indeed a novel experience.
So the bottomline: the hotel was great and met my needs. Because the metro was close and easy to use I visited lots of places.

Good budget hotel

The hotel is located in a sketchy area of São Paulo, but that is true to most of hotels in the downtown area. Very close to subway though! The room and the baths were clean, comfortable and renovated, but simple (nothing fancy). There was some noise from the street and from the adjacent Plaza Republica, so I had to sleep with earplugs... lol. I was on the 4th floor and there was a strong smell of food - so feel free to ask to be on a higher floor. The breakfast was great and staff is friendly. Overall good for the price, I would stay there again probably.

Great location and everything you want in a budget

This hotel is great if your on a budget. The wifi is strong and breakfast is good. Please know that our stay was on the 2nd floor and it can be noisy especially that it was at World Cup. The staff does not speak English; however in the lobby there is a travel group that can help with English. The metro stop is literally 50yards at most from the entrance and the GRU airport bus is another 10yards. :-)

Budget and Convenient

Budget and Convenient are the main reason for staying. Neighbourhood is bad. Room looks clean but got bite at times. Bed is small and lining is thin, internet connection is good. Air conditioner could easily get you cold. Window cannot be closed completely, and noisy at times, particularly in the morning. Breakfast is good.

OK Hotel in the wrong part of town

I booked 7 nights upfront with Expedia at this hotel as I was attending a friend's wedding and did not know the city. It was advertised as 3/4star in the centre of town as a "business" hotel. When I arrived, althought the hotel was OK the area was dangerous for a woman on her own, as there were people sleeping rough on all the street corners. The centre of Sao Paolo is where all the itinerants and vagrants congregate and although there are people sleeping rough all round SP this area is the worst. I moved hotel and did not spend a single night there. I paid £359 to Expedia and have not received any money back to date. I paid to stay in another hotel in the Consolacao region. The Ave Paulista is the best and safest place to stay.

just ok

I stayed 5 days at the hotel. very noisy as the windows don't shut properly - no insulation so you hear everything ( and I was on the 10th floor). Not a great area to be in, although great to get the metro and bus to airport, full of homeless in the area.... ok if you are a strong big chap - like me :-)

everything is good but surrounding are is not good

Overall it is a good hotel when you have compare the price and location. right next to airport bus stop and metro station is 20m away. walking distance to major attractions like Sao Bento, Se, Japanese town - Liberdade...But at night, homeless people and noisy bars are around. If you are not with family or female company, not a big deal! Breakfast us OK, Room is ok and wifi worked very well for me. But English is not fluently spoken at reception.

Hotel offers good values in overpiced Sao Paulo

Although Hotel San Juan locates in a rather scruffy neighborhood in the old downtown section of Sao Paulo, the hotel interior is quite spacious and the room I got was extremely clean and well kept. The large window provides a nice view of Sao Paulo's new and old buildings in the nearby area. The free breakfast is exceptionally good with lots of food choices. Staff in general were very professional and courteous. Best of all, hotel is only a few minutes' walk away from subway station Republic and during the weekend, it's the same short walk to visit the crafts market at Plaza Republic Square. Hotel San Juan offers a very good price comparing to other hotels in Sao Paulo. I'd happy to stay here again and recommend it to others.

Hotel is very well located, just opposite Placa de Republica - downtown Sao Paolo. Price is quite good, rooms are clean and spacious. Quite a pleasant breakfast buffet too. The downside was the staff at the reception, who couldn't speak much English and didn't look very friendly. I never saw them smile and they failed even to provide basic directions for a pretty well known street. I would advise this hotel for those who are able to speak some Portuguese or have some previous knowledge of the city.

Tivemos problemas com o quarto, mas fomos prontamente atendidos pelo Carlos, que tentou resolver de todas as formas, nao sendo possivel prontamente nos mudou de acomodação. A internet não funcionou nenhum dia que estivemos hospedados. Café da manhã bem simples mas justo, colaboradores extremamente atenciosos. Ótima localização. Um ponto negativo é o barulho externo, talvez devido a alta concentração de moradores de rua no entorno e também pela estação de transporte público proxima do hotel, tivemos dificuldades para dormir.

Ótima hospedagem no geral. Equipe muito atenciosa e muito boa localização do hotel, que fica praticamente ao lado de uma das entradas da estação República, o que ajudou bastante.

Porém deixo alguns pontos de observação:

Acústica do quarto: Não é boa, vem muito barulho da área dos elevadores, se você quiser dormir até um pouco mais tarde, talvez tenha dificuldade, e do apartamento de cima, que em uma das noites ficou arrastando móveis até perto da meia noite e incomodou bastante.

Recepção 24h: Ao retornar para o hotel de madrugada em um dos dias, fiquei surpreso que a recepção estava fechada e totalmente no escuro. Por ser uma região perigosa principalmente a noite, penso que no check-in poderia ser avisado que a recepção fecha e fica no escuro após certo horário, e que precisa tocar a campainha para que abram a porta se for retornar tarde.

Cartão de informações no quarto: Senti falta de um cartão com informações simples, como o ramal da recepção, ou um lembrete de como acessar o Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi: No andar em que fiquei o Wi-Fi estava muito lento. Tive de usar os dados móveis do celular durante quase toda a hospedagem.

Ar-condicionado: Algumas vezes vazou água para dentro do quarto, tive que colocar uma toalha embaixo para não molhar o chão e não danificar a madeira dos móveis.

Café da manhã: Muito bom, apenas poderia ter uma reposição dos itens mais rápida.

Os itens do café da manhã poderiam ser um pouco mais diversificados desta vez. As opções de tortas salgadas e eram pouco atrativas e ocupavam significativo espaço no buffet.
Em função da lotação da unidade houve certa demora de reposição de alguns itens no café da manhã de domingo. O fato é absolutamente compreensível, porém cabe registro.
De resto, o staff e as acomodações estiveram impecáveis (como de costume) ao longo da estadia. Os funcionários são extremamente atenciosos e prestativos. o check-in foi rápido e eficiente.

O hotel estava em reforma. Muita poeira e barulhos de construção. Alugamos três quartos e era praticamente impossível respirar de tanta poeira. Só tem dois elevadores para um hotel grande. um elevador era para carregar material de construção e o outro hóspedes. colocaram um pano para proteger o elevador dos materiais de construção e não trocavam. Café não é mais como antes. Todos tiveram renite alérgica e o hotel foi avisado duas semanas antes do check in.

Café da manhã com pouco opções, isso durante os 4 dias que lá permaneci . Pessoal restaurante simpáticos e gentis , já na recepção , eles escolhem os melhores quartos para clientes que fazem reservas pelo site do hotel . Mesmo sabendo que eu não gosto de banheiro sem janelas , pedi na reserva , feita em dezembro, na hora que cheguei as 14 hs do dia 18 de março, disseram que não havia outros quartos como eu havia solicitado . Fikei num quarto onde não havia janelas no banheiro e sofri muito devido a falta de ar . Mas não deram q opção de mudar de quarto .

O lugar é pessimo, perigoso e o ar condicionado do quarto não funcionava, não consegui dormir a noite, foi uma noite pavorosa, desconfortável e cheguei e saí com medo do local que fica no meio da Cracolândia. Foi a pior experiência da minha vida. Só fui porque fui obrigada pois a hotéis.com ficou de resolver um cupom para outra estadia e não deu retorno.

Na chegada à recepção foi PÉSSIMA!! O atendente de nome Daniel foi EXTREMAMENTE grosso. Sem nenhuma simpatia. O “hotel” que se intitula 4 estrelas não é 2 !!!

O hotel diz aceitar PET , mas na hora cobra um valor de 70 reais a diária sem nenhum aviso de
Cobrança extra.

O hotel diz ter garagem, cobra por isso, mas meu carro dormiu na rua em uma área perigosa.

Tivemos um pequeno problema para acessar o quarto com o cartão de acesso à acomodação. Porém, a equipe foi extremamente eficaz para resolver o problema. Os cartões nao estavam destravando a fechadura eletronica.
