Beautiful building with character. Bit of a rabbit warren inside though -our room was on the 3rd floor and we got lost several times trying to find the pool.
We didn’t realise the outdoor pool is heated and the temperature was in the mid 30’s so not a refreshing dip but would be nice in cooler weather. The sun beds were very hard.
The terrace restaurant was lovely with very good food and attentive staff.

The spa treatments were all also really pricey compared to other places so we opted not to use. Wouldn’t recommend this if you are visiting for the thermal spa element.

The property is beautiful and the staff were more than happy to help and facilitate our every needs. A male bar tender / waiter did let down the team by being short and rude but this did not affect our stay and it is not fair on the rest of the team who went over and above to please us. We stayed one night for our 25th wedding anniversary. The hotel spa pools are natural thermal pools and it is clear that when this hotel was refurbished, no expense was spared, we loved it albeit I can see why some reviews say it is tired but the quality of the fittings and finishes are top quality such as silk cushions in the bar area. The bar area serves drinks and cocktails how they should be served. The room, bathroom and other spa facilities such as the sauna, steam room, gym and treatment rooms etc were clean and in excellent condition and the spa staff were also excellent. The breakfast and dinner was also excellent. The evening dinner was fantastic, lots of traditional Tuscan food and wine and the concierge was also very helpful with the wine and menu!

The spa staff were wonderful and it was a great time. However, the hotel staff was challenging to deal with. When we checked in, we have been driving seven hours, so we had shorts and T-shirts on, and we were exhausted. I guess that didn’t play well with staff because they weren’t interested in explaining the property to us, etc. I guess if I had a suit on like the guy that was in front of me who received all of the hotel information, I might have had a better experience. We were not provided with a hotel Moore information about the property, so we didn’t know about the second thermal baths. Had we known, we would’ve relax there instead of relaxing in the room. Very snobby!

It’s an amazing old villa where the grand dukes of Tuscany used to stay. The room had a bit of an old smell to it, but sleeping under that frescoed ceiling was definitely an experience. The only issue we had is trying to locate the staff at the spa and at the bar, everyone was MIA for some unknown reason.

Thermal pools are very unique. We missed the train to the station that is so close to the hotel, so we ened up taking the bus (could find NO taxis in Pisa) that drops off outside the town.
It was very inconvenient with a large suitcase. So glad the hotel was accommodating and let us check in early and use the pools! We needed it.

The excellent spa facilities and grounds. Beautiful tasteful interior decor in keeping with type if property. I missed having a kettle on the room to make a cup of tea. Access to pools were not wheelchair or disability friendly. There were lots of steps to access the pools. The bed didnt have a duvet cover, which I see a lot in Italy. The duvet should have a washable cover.The staff in general were friendly and helpful , however acces toTherme facilities were not properly explained to us. The Gardener was very helpful and friendly and very happy to speak English.

Special place with an illustrious history, both literary and royal. My friend and i felt like princesses there in our canopied beds, and the spa feels like ancient Roman baths. The setting, in front of a ruin littered hill, is lovely. The Shelleys and Lord Byron stayed here.

A quiet get a way was what we were after and this hotel fit the bill perfectly. The food is excellent, the room comfortable and I especially liked that the chambermaid came by every evening to ask if we required anything more. The baths were sometimes overcrowded, and not enough beds for every one. I think that in these times of pandemic, someone should supervise and make sure that the pools hold the number of persons they are supposed to, not more. The staff is well trained in hospitality, and they get top marks for their courteous demeanor.

On arrival the restaurant was fully booked and they were completely inflexible.

We had two rooms the air conditioning in both did not work properly.

As we had to depart early we ordered a take away breakfast. The fruit salad in the breakfast was fermenting.

This is a hotel that thinks it’s good but fails to deliver on the basics.

This historic building is beautiful and the spa exceptional. The reception staff are brilliant and so helpful. The location is good a 10 minute cab ride to Pisa, 20 mins to Lucca. It is a shame that there is no swimming pool only the hot pools. The restaurant really lets down this hotel both in terms of food (a very tough steak full of gristle and potatoes which tasted refried) and service, no vegetables for my husband and it took him asking for the menu to show they should have been included and I was not asked why I didn't eat more than a mouthful. They are also not great at accepting there is any problem. Everything else about the hotel is excellent. The bar area is lovely and Fabio the barman really helpful.

Relaxing stay with nice service

The service was excellent. We just stayed for one night but we were allowed to use the spa facilities even after the check-out time for the remaining part of the day. The staff was always ready to help us if we had any questions. The breakfast was very tasty with many options. The hotel room was good although you can see that it hasn't been renovated for a while. The WiFi worked nicely. The selection of TV channels is quite limited. There's is also a nice place just outside of the hotel. I recommend trying marinara.

Turn off the musak!

Lovely hotel a short way from Pisa airport. Go there to relax in their thermal baths/pools (5 or 6 of them) which come from the ground at a natural 37-38 degrees C. Large variety of spa treatments available; I had two lovely massages.
One huge drawback, for me, is the constant \"musak\" playing in restaurant, bar and public areas all the time. Bland, on a loop - They say it is radio, but we sat one night listening to the same piece of modern jazz over and over. Staff politely refused to turn it off, as management wants it on. Out-of-date and irritating!! It is the only thing that would stop me going back. Otherwise a lovely place to unwind for a couple of days before a trip around Tuscany/Umbria.

Amazing building for decor and restoration

Unfortunately I'm giving this a lower score than I wanted to owing to the following three points for such a starred and rated hotel:
1. No iPhone charger!? Was offered one \"assorted\" option which was broken. When I explained the unusual circumstances of my needing it(had been bumped off my holiday return flight that night to London with a toddler and had a new flight the next morning which my partner had no details of)and how important it was, the night receptionist shrugged his shoulders and said that was it. In a top rated hotel of so many rooms designed for soohisticated world travellers I was taken aback.
2. When we arrived it was late,and having had hours of horrible experience,thanks EasyJet,at Pisa airport my 2 year old was not settling in bed.I couldn't find cartoons on the tv,which again surprisingly,had less than 12 channels?! I rang reception and asked could they help me find cartoons- the same gentleman said \"no cartoons,sorry\". I couldn't get anything of the other services listed in the entertainment menu either but he said \"I can't help you\". In the morning the lady on reception assured me that there were cartoons available even late at night.
3. I was surprised to not be able to have my breakfast in my room when I asked the night receptionist - so as the toddler slept in late and had another long day of travel ahead, I stayed with him and missed the breakfast. Disappointed again with the level of service for the amount paid for the room.

The hotel is a lovely old palazzo -- very grand. It has a top notch spa with lots of treatments available. a ver laid back vibe. We only ate in the bar and the terrace restaurant but the standard of food was good. There isn't much in the local town , just a couple of bars, a gelato shop and a take away pizza place. The hotel is well placed for Pisa and Lucca (both c 2O mins away by car)

Lovely hotel with huge rooms. Spa excellent both the in terms of the facilities and the two massages we had. Staff very helpful & friendly - a real plus as BA had lost our luggage! Gave us really useful advice and assistance. Hotel restaurant lovely but portions not great and main course came with very little veg. Only real negative is that meals, drinks and the spa were very expensive. Would also have preferred a bath in the en suite as well as the shower.

Location is great for Pisa and Lucca.

BEAUTIFUL RESTFUL RETREAT

We stayed just three nights at the Bagni di Pisa in late August. We were upgraded to a delightful junior suite which presented our bed on a balcony overlooking the sitting area. The ceilings are beautifully decorated and colours are peaceful yet typically Italian. The mood was tranquil and easy with bathrobes and slippers to ensure maximum relaxation moving around the hotel. We didn't indulge in any of the spa treatments but did spend a few hours by the outdoor pool.

The weather was glorious and we took a short taxi ride to the Tower and Pisa on our second day. We intended to visit Lucca on our third day on the recommendation of one of the bar staff, Marco: sadly due to sore feet we chose to rest and enjoy the 35 degrees of sunshine; dining at lunch time on the hotel's terrace and restaurant for dinner.

A lovely pizzeria across the square near the white bridge provided us with a delicious authentic and reasonably priced first supper.

Staff at the Bagni di Pisa made our stay a delight: friendly, helpful and thoughtful. We had a fabulous few days and definitely plan to return to the area. I would highly recommend a visit to the Bagni di Pisa.

Beautiful setting, dreadful service, lots of ants

We stayed at Bagni di Pisa for 4 nights in July and were thoroughly disappointed with our experience. We would suggest that anyone looking for a relaxing getaway at a luxury hotel should look elsewhere.

There were numerous issues when we arrived. Rather than be conciliatory and helpful, the general manager was rude, dismissive and abrasive.

Aside from this, the hotel has an ant problem. Ants were swarming around our room. So much so that, as I write this, I am still covered in ant bites. When we complained we were told they would fix the problem. I have no idea whether attempts were made, but the ants were with us for the entirety of our stay.

The ants also accompanied us to dinner the one night that we ate at the hotel. Rather than being able to enjoy our food, we spent the entire evening flicking ants off the table so that they didn't get near the food. Not that there was much food for the majority of the time we were sitting there - they totally mixed up our order.

A hotel with any class, especially one which is billed as five star and is part of the Leading Hotels of the World franchise, would surely have given us a free dinner in the circumstances. They offered a 10% discount. When I expressed my frustration at checkout the general manager grudgingly agreed to 30%. I think this is an outrage.

This is not a five star hotel and I would urge anyone looking for a genuine luxury stay with exemplary service to look elsewhere.

Arrived exhausted after driving for 8 hours, but after a clean up and a much deserved cocktail, a good dinner followed seamlessly. Then sleep in the most unusual suite with a ceiling to remember forever.
The hotel's public hot baths are quite an experience and well worth a visit.

The Bagni di Pisa is wonderfully relaxing. The spa treatments are exceptional. Not the best location for sight-seeing, unless you have a car. A day trip to Lucca is easy by train but get a ticket first or face €5 fine per person for €2.5 ticket. Connecting trains to Florence from Pisa are not too good especially on a Sunday.

we came to Pisa for the stevie Wonder concert from UK. On arrival we were greeted with three lady members of staff who were very smartly groomed and attentive. They were very informative about the hotel and were happy to help with anything that we asked for. I would like to especially like to thank Anna - who works weekends for her fantastic service and customer service . She went up and above her call of duty to make us feel very welcome and comfortable.
I would like to see Anna rewarded for her efforts as she is clearly a valuble asset to your company. i would recommend this hotel without hesitation. We had suites so very impressed with the rooms

Elegant palace with thermal spa

We were upgraded on arrival at Bagni di Pisa to a very beautiful, very large room with a frescoed ceiling and canopied king bed. The hotel is the former Summer Palace of a grand duke and it has a gracious style, helpful staff and an excellent restaurant. The breakfast was excellent and at night the restaurant offered sophisticated Italian food served by knowledgeable waiters. The spa features a beautiful rooftop thermal swimming pool in addition to all the usual indoor spa facilities. The whole setting is really picturesque and guests are encouraged to come to breakfast in their bathrobes if they wish. Pisa is a short train ride away or 5 minutes by car and lived up to our expectations with its beauty. You can also go to Lucca easily by train and there is a great deal to see there as well as some excellent shopping. Our only problem was the unpredictability of the trains which were usually quite late. They run more regularly early in the day and later, with a big break in the middle of the day. We had a home style meal in a great family run restaurant just near the hotel on our last night.

First class hotel, super staff, excellent location for Pisa and area. Taxi, hire car or local train from Pisa/Pisa airport. €5.50 approx for 2 people from airport station to local station (5 minutes walk to Hotel). Well connected for Lucca, Pisa & further afield. Generally 2 trains per hour.

Very grand hotel

We stayed for a week in this lovely opulent hotel, the staff are all very attentive, and the room spacious and clean. I found the spa rather expensive at 81 euros for a 50 minute massage but it was totally lovely! The pools are heated by thermal means, so are really warm, more like a hot bath and wouldn't cool you down much on a hot day. Nothing much to do in the village, but a regional train station is only 5 minutes walk away with regular, inexpensive trains to Pisa and Lucca, well worth a visit. We visited the Cinque Terre too for a day, a great day although far too many tourists huffing and puffing along the paths between villages!

Disappointing

After traveling for 8 days in Tuscany this was our last stop and the third hotel.
Upon arrival the room was 27 degrees/at midnight 26 degrees. When we complained
at 8:00 p.m. to housekeeping we were told this was the norm for July.
Not acceptable! Also the bed was uncomfortable and it was not a pleasant overnight
stay. My priorities when traveling are to have a comfortable room after being out and
about all day, not the spa, the pools, the view or the impressive lobby... I want comfort!

Enjoyable stay

We enjoyed our stay at the Bagni di Pisa Palace & Spa very much. The hotel staff were most helpful.The only issue we had was that our air conditioner was not working properly. Once we called the manager , it was taken care of. The Hotel restaurant was excellent, and we dined there each night of our stay. We enjoyed breakfast as well. We would stay there again !

Highly recommended hotel with excellent food

We stayed over one night on our way to a birthday celebration in Livorno. The hotel more than lived up to our expectation. The waiting staff in the restaurant were absolutely charming and very accomodating. We ate off of the Tuscan speciality menu and we both said it was the best meal we had ever had. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so good.

Not a 5 star, maybe a 4 star. Services at front desk are just fair. For example map of pisa tourist sites exclcudes hotel location, was asked what newspaper I wanted in the morning, but I did not get it because they did not order enough newspapers, etc. bed was fair, AC fair. Only stayed one night so cannot comment on spa facilities. Location is good if you have a car; cannot walk to pisa sites,

A beautiful holiday

If you want to experience Italy, locals and the food this is a great place to stay. Away from the tourist quite and relaxing a fantastic base to experience Tuscany. Just a short walk through the village to the train station you have lucca and Pisa just 15 mins away both well worth the visit. We also traveled by train to Siena which took just under two hours including changes. Opposite the hotel you will find a family run restaurant called pasta e vino a fantastic place to eat a true Italian meal. The hotel is quite with a touch of class, the spa and pools are perfect for resting in between sight seeing. Finally if you can afford a suite you will be stunned by the lay out, we will visit again superb

Although nice this is not a 5* hotel

Staff were friendly and accommodating however neither the internet in the room or the WIFI in the bar works. There are no money changing facilities at the hotel and the local bank machine did not work. Hotel advise was to queue in the bank. I did and they charged €10 euros just to change money and a ridiculous rate of exchange. Learning from this is to bring plenty of Euro's. Pool and setting are beautiful and Spa facilities are nice. The local trains mean you can get to Lucca, Pisa and Florence easily so overall I would go back to this hotel.

Bagni di Pisa Spa: A Wonderful Old World Getaway

This is a classic spa hotel built around natural mineral springs, and it has the slightly formal (without being stuffy) atmosphere of a bygone era. The staff were friendly and accommodating, including honoring our request for early check-in (since we had only one night and had to leave early the next day); they even upgraded our room one level. The room had a charming, unique layout that included stairs up to the bed (so if anyone has difficulty with stairs they should request a one-level room). The two mineral pools, sauna, and Turkish bath are all included in the room charge and were absolutely lovely; we spent hours in the warm pools. Rooms have free wired internet; wi-fi is available elsewhere in the building (but this is a place to get away from all that). A substantial buffet breakfast is included; the dining room is also open for lunch and dinner, but we chose to dine in a less formal atmosphere. The town square is across the street, and you'll find 3 or 4 restaurants, a couple small grocers, a liquor store, a pasticceria, a gelateria, and not much more. It's a lovely, lovely getaway.

First impression definitely not 5* with tiny dark room, nowhere to put things in bathroom, nothing like the online pictures. However after insisting on new room we were moved next day to beautiful spacious quiet room with plenty of light and lovely view. The hotel is in a impressive period villa with great gardens and an olive walk up a hill to a superb view of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The spa is good especially the relaxing thermal pools and the steam room. Dr Patrizia is a gem, dispensing practical advice with firmness and humour.The dressing rooms are cramped with only one shower with shampoo etc., for which you may have to queue. The breakfast is one of the best we have come across. The Staff were helpful throughout. Verdict: beautiful hotel and healing spa in brilliant location for the great towns, little villages, wild mountains and seaside of Tuscany. Has potential to live up to its 5* category but some bedrooms and the spa dressing room need an upgrade. Friendly staff and relaxing village with welcoming locals. We have booked other luxury hotels through hotels.com and they have always exceeded our expectations which maybe why our initial reaction to this one was so disappointing. However it is a beautiful place with only one or two areas not yet 5*.

Great place to unwind

We (25yr old couple), had a overnight stay in this Spa hotel. The building is beautiful, twin room spacious and indulgent.
We had lunch in the bar - excellent cold food selection (swordfish carpaccio) then had the afternoon in the spa.
A robe and slippers are included with the room. We booked treatments on the day but were lucky as it was almost fully booked. We robed up and sat on the outside terrace then headed to the Spa which is inside the hotel building, built on natural thermal springs.
In the evening we had a cocktail at the bar (mediocre) then a fabulous meal in the restaurant. Exceptional and friendly service with brilliant food and wine choice.
We really felt special during our brief stay and would highly recommend this hotel. Be prepared to splash a fair amount of cash for a fantastic and tranquil chillax.

Very lovely

The hotel is very nice for couples. I was there with my 16 year old son and would not recommend it for travel with teens or children. All of the services offered are fantastic. We ordered room service because my son did not want to go to the dining room. It was beautifully displayed and delicious. The staff at the hotel was very friendly. The pool temp was perfect and the spa services were top notch.
