The Chapel suite was amazing, large bath and bed and super comfortable, although the bathroom facilities you’d have be to very comfortable in each others company, but still excellent. The biggest disappointment was the dinner in the restaurant, the food was tasteless and an odd mix of ingredients but sadly the dishes didn’t do the place justice. The staff and service though was excellent.
The pool is very relaxing however even in October we were bitten to bits by the mosquitoes so bring repellent.

Villa Le Marta is a beautiful property located about a 15 min drive outside of Lucca and a 20 min drive outside of Pisa. It’s peaceful and serene to lie by the pool and to have a meal outdoors. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable, but small and a bit dated compared to some other places we stayed.

The villa looks amazing as you enter the grounds. The staff we met were excellent and made us feel very welcome. The restaurant was a gorgeous venue, the staff were great and the food was very good. We were very disappointed with our room which felt damp and looked more shabby than chic! It was in need of a make over to ensure we experienced a bit of luxury during our stay there. We definitely didn’t feel that at all. The pool area was poor, the grass around the pool area was a haven for mosquitos who very much let us know they were present!!!!

Idyllic Tuscan hotel

This is a beautiful hotel in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. The staff could not have been friendly and make you feel welcome and relaxed from the moment you arrive. Only downside is if you don’t have a car, you can cycle into Lucca but not the safest ride and you should definitely not leave it until it goes dark until you cycle home! The taxis from the railway station are expensive €25 for a 6 minute taxi ride!! The breakfast was good and idyllic setting. And we had an evening meal in the restaurant that was delicious. We will definitely stay again.

The staff are truly exceptional. Always on hand and one step ahead. This Villa is amazing but made even better by the friendly and hard working staff who work there. The food was incredible, especially the evening menu. Beautiful pool, which was a lovely temperature! Also, had red wine split over my white dress and the laundry service made it look better than new. Would love to go back one day. Thank you.

I cannot say enough about this place. It was a paradise. The room, the grounds, the staff and the pool were excellent. An extra surprise was how good the on-property restaurant was! In fact, we ended up having all three dinners there during our three night stay, as well as one lunch. Breakfast was included, so of course we had that there as well and they put out a nice spread for you in the morning. You can sit inside the sun-porch style building or outside on the patio. I will recommend this place to anyone and everyone I know!

What an amazing place to stay! While Alberto Villa Marta is located 10-15 minutes from the walled city, it is in a quiet and beautiful rural location. The rooms and grounds are beautiful, The breakfast selection is great, and dinner in the restaurant was sumptuous. The service from the staff is also wonderful. We had a great stay.

This hotel was so cool! We were able to stay in the chapel shrine, which was recently renovated. We had a personal hot tub in our own grove of olive trees and our own lounger chairs. In addition, the inside of the church was absolutely gorgeous. They installed a gold cold clawfoot bathtub and some beautiful fixtures to complement the space. I’ve already ready recommended this place to several friends! The breakfast and meals at the hotel were also superb.

Good but not as good as it used to be.

An excellent location for visiting Lucca and Tuscany. Staff are wonderful and cannot be faulted. The hotel is looking a little tired and the gardens need attention. It is not as good as in recent visits. More attention to the up keep and maintenance will see it back to a first rate hotel.

Amazing villa in the Luccan countryside. Great service and friendly staff that spoke good english. The room was clean and well kept. Seemed like a really good value at the price. They provided a nice breakfast in the morning, and we had a blast using the rental bikes to ride to Lucca and explore the countryside.

This place is worth the great reviews they get. Our stay was exceptional. The location is beautiful. It was so nice to be out of a city and be able to relax. The staff was wonderful, the breakfast was amazing. Overall this was our best stay during our week traveling through Europe. Parking is very easy. The location is a quick drive from Pisa and even quicker to Lucca. I could have stayed here relaxing for days

A haven of tranquility

If you're looking for a quiet haven to wash away the stress of a busy working lifestyle, this could be the perfect place for you. A secluded country setting, tastefully designed and furnished, no canned music, only a small number of rooms, fantastic food, no pressure for sunbeds around the pool.

We paid somewhat more than we would normally do so, but it was worth every penny. Ignore the one-star review; yes, there is some light industry if you drive away from the site but this IS a remote and peaceful hideaway.

We probably wouldn't stay for more than a week as we would have exhausted the restaurant menu. However, our four day stay was one of the highlights of our holiday.

Last - but not least - the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Their unobtrusive professionalism helped to make our stay simply perfect.

Well located Tuscan retreat

We were thoroughly delighted with this sweet, charming hotel and it's wonderful managers and staff. Just ten minutes outside of wonderful Lucca, parking was simple and location provided easy access to Tuscan treasures. As true for many historic spots, it had no elevator or comfy chair in guest room. Not a problem for us.

Upon arrival, tired from travel, we relaxed our first day but serene pool, enjoyed on-site dining on patio, and after dinner drink in the garden.

We selected this hotel for visiting Lucca and Pisa and it worked well. The driving to the hotel was a bit challenging for the first time as we didn't come from the A-1, but got easier on the second day. The hotel was situated in a beautiful garden. It is very clean and comfortable, with helpful and friendly staff. The restaurant was excellent. Breakfast was plentiful, with hot food and includes champagne!

Spent just one night here...wish it had been more! Beautiful setting in the Tuscan countryside outside of Lucca. The manor house is lovely, gorgeous gardens, a pretty pool we sat by even in October, and a fabulous restaurant. The owners/staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will hopefully return to one day.

A wonderful hotel in a beautiful setting

My wife and I loved our stay at the Albergo Villa Marta. The Internet was a bit flakey during our stay, but otherwise the room was very nice, spotless, and the staff bent over backward to make sure we enjoyed our stay. A definite hidden treasure! If you have the freedom of a car, definitely consider this fine hotel!

This is a hotel to hide out, to get away from the stresses of big city life. Relax by the pool and feel a union with the other guests staying at the hotel, while maintaining a luxurious distance. The grounds are immaculately kept and the pool is wonderfully refreshing. I was able to unwind and enjoy life.

Romantic!

We picked this hotel to spend our 40th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. Our suite was large and beautiful, so full of old world charm but still had the modern conveniences. The grounds were large and well maintained. The salt water pool was quite nice and set in a pretty corner of the grounds. There was a small restaurant on site and they only served a portion of their regular menu on Sunday nights. The staff kept apologizing but we had a wonderul meal and had the whole restaurant to ourselves. They had soft music playing and the server was very good. Almost all of the guests were Americans and it makes sense because I doubt there is anything like this in the USA. This place is a couple of miles out of Lucca and a definite place to stay if you are in the area. Thank you to everyone at the Albergo Villa Marta for making our anniversary so extra special.

The hotel is lovely with well manicured park like grounds, nestled by mountains just outside of Lucca. Quiet and picturesque. The room was large, the bed excellent and the ensuite bath recently redesigned and very clean. Good water pressure, lots of hot water. The breakfast was great, and I wish I had stayed another day to try the restaurant at night, A great small hotel if traveling by car.

Small country house, with spacious gardens, quiet.

Loved the grand entrance. Typical tuscan villa, with plenty of lawn space to wander or longe about in.
Very friendly, helpful staff. Cosy restaurant (open to the public) which served excellent food (which, oddly, cost more here than in central Florence...).
The simple rectangular pool (watch your feet on the sharp edges of the steps) has plenty of space around it, and an outdoor bar (closed when we were there, so probably only open in high season). Loved watching the dragonflies lining up on the cables over my head.
You are a few miles outside Lucca (not quite deepest countryside) but the road to it is definitely not suitable for walking along or cycling safely (and we cycle in London...). Best to have a car here, as we found the buses and their timetable appalling - maybe we caught them at a bad time?
NB Taxi to Pisa airport is min €60 (plus luggage tariff) - best to share if you have no car.
Altogether, a lovely place for a quiet retreat or a touring base, for couples, friends etc not ideal for children (at least not while I'm there !).

\"Fantastic stay at Albergo Villa Marta\".

We had such a wonderful stay. I would particularly reccomend eating at the onsite restaurant, the food was absolutely delicious, the service was impeccable and it was extremely reasonable in terms of price. The Villa is located a little way out of Lucca, so a taxi in and out is necessary. However this isn't too expensive, about £15 each way. You can also cycle in but the roads are busy so less experience cyclists may struggle, especially on the wrong side of the road! Our room was beautiful and authentically Italian in terms of decor. In fact, the whole gorgeous building oozed Tuscan glamour.

Boutique little hotel, gorgeous pool area in a beautiful private garden in Tuscany. Paradise. The restaurant and bar were fantastic, staff could not do enough for us. We had a wedding anniversary during our staff and were congratulated by all the staff and given some wine and a special table in the restaurant. Only thing I would say is the hotel is not in Lucca and is a 15euro taxi to get there, but to us this was an advantage as we wanted peace and we certainly got in in buckets... Want to go back...

The hotel staff was very helpful and spoke English if that is a concern. The hotel provides free parking. The room including the bathroom was large. The shower was magnificant. The room had a king size bed and was nicely decorated. Breakfast was nice, but there was an extra charge for a hard boiled egg which seemed odd. The grounds were pleasant and featured a swimming pool. The communication with the hotel before our visit was great with an accompanying utube video that we played over and over.

It was a short ride to Lucca city and Pisa. The only thing we noticed was a heavy perfume sent in the room, but after awhile you’ll get used to it. The surrendings were very beautiful. If you are looking for a place to stay which is quiet and calm, this is the place for you.
All in all a really great and beautiful place to stay.

Great stay outside of Lucca

Really nice venue and excellent pool area. Enough chairs for the guest and very friendly staff. Approx 10 to drive to Lucca, very happy to have stayed outside the city Center as it gets very hot during the summer
