Our stay at the Protea Livingstone was amazing! The staff were so friendly and helpful, our breakfasts were delicious each morning. Our room was comfortable, warm and had everything we needed. It was the perfect place to stay for us to explore Livingstone for 5 days! It is a beautiful hotel and we highly recommend it.

On the night of arrival . The hotel was serving a buffet with limited options. They did not even allow ordering from the menu despite their restricted buffet options. The following day, during breakfast , there was poor service . Not enough utensils like the cereal section without bowls. The cooking station had one person on eggs and bacon and it was hard for the person to navigate both ends. Took close to 20-30min just to have bacon. I think their restaurant service could be better. Checkin was smooth.

Beautiful and comfortable stay for 2 nights. The only thing that people should be aware of is the amount of mosquitos and bugs that might also show up in rooms. The hotel offers mosquito nets and bug spray, it's just a bit of an adjustment to handle that part.

We had a wonderful time at the Protea Hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, although sometimes a little slow. We loved the ambience of the hotel and the spacious rooms, too. The only thing I'd like to see improved is the lighting in the rooms. It is very dimmed, especially in the bathrooms and over the beds. Otherwise, it was an amazing experience!

Excellent staff and nice hotel but there were two let downs: the quality of the dinner we had at the hotel and the fact that the room does not come with a mosquito net when there are warnings about malaria everywhere. Even when we asked for a mosquito net, one was brought for us but it did not properly cover the bed. This should be standard and done properly.

Really enjoyed our stay at Protea Hotel. Food was excellent. We would rate the staff friendly and attentative amongst the best during our three week tour through Africa. We initially booked in for one night but were so impressed we extended our stay. Comming from Sydney Australia I would suggest this hotel would rate highly amongst guests back home. Hotel had fantastic helpful staff. We found the hotel to be below Marriott standards, the wifi was very slow and cutting off, the hotel services were not what was offered in the hotels.com description, such as shuttle to town, self laundry, but having said this the staff, front desk, waiters, housekeeping were wonderful. This had to do with the Marriott Brand and what customers expect from Marriott. When I travel I expect, fast reliable wifi as I need it for my work, good lighting in the room and bathroom, room amenities such as robes, slippers, hair conditioner etc...simple things on the grand scheme, but important as a traveler. What I did enjoy was the room was clean, the shower had amazing water pressure, the breakfast was great and had a beautiful setup and it had a swimming pool, that I didn’t get to use it as the weather was cool, but it looked inviting.

We missed our flight to Livingstone so only had 24 hours there instead of 48. However we weren't charged for the night we missed. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough for comfort, friendly service, good food and ambiance. If returning to Victoria Falls we will definitely stay there.

We stayed here for two nights - the room was very comfortable, the breakfast was plentiful and tasty, and the overall ambience of the hotel was very pleasant. But the standout factor was the staff - friendly, chatty, helpful and always went the extra mile to make our stay great. In particular the young man (whose name I've forgotten, I'm afraid) in the travel office not only sorted out our tours, but also booked our return bus to Lusaka, arranged for the tickets to be delivered, and came to work an hour early to make sure the taxi he had booked arrived and we got away safely. Definitely would recommend, and visit again.

The staff and partners of Protea were very helpful in booking and accommodation of the activities from viewing the falls, game drives and boat cruises. Restaurants and shopping were walking distance away. So much to do we did not have time to enjoy the pool or other amenities at the hotel itself!

Rooms are excellent ,well furnished and clean. Rooms are sprayed to deter mosquitos although sometimes a very sneaky one gets through. The pools is pleasant although we got bitten by mosquitos when swimming. The souvenirs sold by the hotel were far cheaper than at the airport or at other local shops and far better quality than the souvenir stalls around the falls. The hotel will book trips etc. We went on a small boat trip at lunchtime and it was excellent . Not only a good variety of birds, including a pair of fish eagles, but hippos , crocodiles, water monitors, and a number of elephants, including one herd swimming, with young, between islands.

I was stuck in a hotel in victoria falls Africa that was the filthiest hotel I had seen in a long time.Spent one night in terrible conditions complete withbad overpriced food and mosquito nets. I was lucky to find this property in Zambia on Hotels .com. Went and toured the falls had a cab pick us up with our luggage and went directly there. The hotel was nice but could do with some renovation. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the rooms good enough. What did pull the mark down quite a bit was all the mosquitos in the room. The hotel had tried to help the situation by having insect sprays and mosquito repellent in the room, but it was still bad. They should get mosquito nets.

I personally think this was one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. The first thing they do is pretend the credit card machine doesn't work. They severely overcharge you for all the activities and tell you there is no other options. When you go to pay they make you pay at an inflated exchange rate which is astronomical. when you ask for the manager she comes and doesn't do anything but repeat what has already been said. I would not stay again, the best part is that it is next to the train so that's all you hear.

Wonderful staff. It's comparable to a Hilton or Marriott. Food is awesome and reasonable. We had Staff knew who we were when we got to the desk. We stayed two nights. Wifii is excellent!!! bug spray is in the room and housekeeper was excellent. Beds are plush! Room rate was wonderful. Must go!!!

This is a beautiful, professionally managed hotel. I loved my stay there, from the yummy and elegant breakfasts, to the friendly staff, to the perfect location-- close to town but a short distance to Victoria Falls and many day trips in the area. They also graciously stored my suitcase for me free of charge while I took in a 3 day safari in Botswana. I have already recommended Protea to several friends interested in a trip to Zambia, and will do the same here.

It was a very convenient location to visit Victoria Falls. The reception staff were all very friendly and helpful. The dining room and bar servers were friendly and attentive, while the menu was varied and well prepared. The complimentary breakfast was excellent.

Great service at a comfortable hotel. Approx 20 - 30 min walk into town and 5 mins/$10 USD in a taxi to the falls.
Our room was overlooking the garden area as opposed to facing the railway line behind the hotel. We stayed for 3 nights with each night enjoying uninterrupted sleep.
The buffet breakfast included in our room rate was adequate. Although some of the items were not to our personal taste there was enough choice to provide us with an acceptable breakfast each morning.
We booked a one way, arrival taxi transfer from Livingstone airport to the hotel, through the onsite tour company at the hotel. We paid $USD 28 (for 2 adults) for this and received a prompt, friendly and courteous service. We later found out that another local taxi would have charged us $16 however there were very few taxis readily available at the airport when arrived mid afternoon.
Staff at the hotel were very friendly and extremely helpful offering us mosquito repellent when we sat at the outside bar, loaning us a hotel umbrella to walk into town and staff at the tour centre were equally as helpful.
We found that most places in Livingstone expecting to interact with tourists were happy to accept $USD as payment although you would get a better rate and you certainly need the local currency to buy a drink/fast food/items in the supermarket etc. To get the best rate when exchanging USD$ into ZMK use the banks in town - don't forget to take your ID even if only exchanging a small amount!

For a 3 star hotel, the hotel is very comfortable. Have very friendly staff members. The reception staff was always willing to assist with organising transport for us.

A very good hotel. big and clean rooms, staff members are polite, smiley and ready to help, a good rich breakfast and an open kitchen ready to serve lunch and dinner. the location is just outside the city center and 20 min (safe during the day) easy walk to a modern shopping center where you can find a supermarket and a coffee shop among others. The hotel has an activity center that can help you organize activities and contact related companies for you.all together, a great stay.

No complaints about the Protea Hotel in Livingstone. The staff were all great - very friendly, coordinated activities / excursions and ensured taxis were available when needed. The food was pretty average with little variation day to day, but the bar was situated in a nice corner of the property by the pool and was a great place to relax.

During the stay had injury at another hotel. The staff at the protea could have not been more helpful above the line of duty.
Bringing me water and fruit to the clinic and even calling about my welfare when I was airlifted to hospital in Johannesburg.
Only stayed one night if the planned holiday but even in the short time staff all helpful and attentive.

This hotel needs a big grip. A world chain of hotels in an iconic situation, it clearly takes itself for granted. For an expensive hotel it produced poor food, indifferent staff, and a complacent attitude. Of course I would recommend it for others, but only just!

Easy to get to as it's on the main road. Car parking is free and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Our concierge was particulary insightful reminding us about using the mosquito spray and blowing the air con to get rid of the smell. Breakfast and buffet dinner were good, with eggs to order in the morning. Overall a good hotel

My friends and I stayed here during our recent Victoria Falls visit. The common area of the hotel is gorgeous full if friendly staff, but the room did not match the common area. Rooms were on the dated side and my room had mosquitos in it. Good thing for the courtesy bottle of Doom (Raid for mosquitos) in the room, definitely came in handy and kept me bite free. The up side is it is affordable and comes with free breakfast.
