They’re doing their best. It’s a kind of pay as you go hotel. They make you pay for each step because they are very decentralized. The restaurant for breakfast, the bar, the shuttle to the airport, etc. It’s not a bad place to stay, but don’t expect a lot. The stuff were pretty nice, but things move at a slow pace. Shout out to the laundry staff and house keeping. They were very professional and timely.

Amazing Staff, not so amazing shower.

Our visit to Victoria Falls was beautiful as always. The location to the downtown attractions was perfect, we walked most of our trips. The staff at the Rainbow Hotel were all very friendly and welcoming and were there to help us with all of our questions and needs with a smile on their faces. The only thing I was not 100% pleased with was our shower. There was barely a trickle and no door on the shower, so water went everywhere when you showered and it took awhile with no pressure. Overall, we are very pleased with our stay and would most definitely return. Thank you Rainbow Hotel for a great week.

Room - no shower door, broken door handles, no safe or mini bar that was advertised . Need to walk through area with any homeless men who harassed you for money or other so no going out at night safely.Meals took 30 to 45 minutes even when only person in the restaurant.
The place is dated and does not deserve a 3 star. Other than that some of the staff were great if you tipped them well .

First off, I would have given them only 3 stars but the staff was wonderful so made it 4. The hotel itself is not as convenient to the falls as it seemed when scheduling. You will need to have transport to most places. This is available without much effort. The closest shopping it at least a quarter of a mile away and there is no sidewalk and on a main road. It is an older hotel but is in fairly good shape. Our room had some problems but as we were only there 2 nights and already settled it was not worth changing. Biggest was the bath had a leak so any time you took a shower there was a good deal, of water on the floor. I did inform them of this when we left. Some lights were not functioning and the bathroom exhaust fan did not work. The phone had no labels so you couldn't tell how to call any services. Had to go out and find someone to help with luggage when checking out. A fair number of steps and would not consider ADA friendly. Breakfast buffet was pretty good. Not a huge selection but what they had was good. Only bar was poolside but it sufficed for us. The staff really made up for any shortcomings. They were very friendly and helpful. Never had a problem. I would probably stay again but would request another room if I found similar problems.

Staff were great. Kenny and Nyasha at the bar were very friendly and helpful. Front desk staff could have been friendlier. The greeter in the lobby was so fun and happy. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Restaurant service was very slow and breakfast buffet charges changed on a daily basis, when I tried to clear up charges it was to no avail. Pool was very clean , enjoyable to swim in.

We were pleased with our choice of this hotel. Quiet, clean and friendly. The price was lower than other advertised hotels of the same category. We did not choose the breakfast option but if you are ok not having the buffet style, then the price is reasonable. We had to walk an extra block to the main street which is fine except of the street vendors constant offerings.

I got very lucky! Due to lack of tourists, I was upgraded to their sister hotel, A'Zambezi River Lodge, which is right on the Zambezi. Gorgeous property, fantastic service and food. Elephants, hippos and baboons right outside your room!

The room was nice. However, the price for breakfast changed every time we asked, from $20 to $28 per person for what looked like a regular breakfast. $28 can buy you breakfast for 6-8 people at the local store. They also wanted $6 per kg for laundry service.

It stated clearly that the 2 rooms will have bathtubs when I booked and there is no bathtub at all in any of the room. When I asked to change the room the lady in front desk (ms future) was not helpful gave us a hard time and we were in hurry for a tour program in the morning, so we just gave in.

The air cond is Not cold in the first 2 nights in room no. 36, but they sent someone to repair. It was ok on the 3rd night. There was no towel in room 38 after they cleaned it, and when we requested for the towel, it took quite a while to arrive, after 2-3 reminder calls. Also, there was no bathroom mat too on the last night of our stay too, we didn’t bother to request anymore.

When the hotel Manager offers to move your room due to air con not working great, follow through on your word. Very disappointed. developed a heat rash and had to sleep with wet towels to keep cool and be able to sleep. They did try and offer a free breakfast perk one morning, which we are greatfull for but that didn't make up for the aircon issue.

Close to town and good restaurants. Hotel is a little dated in places but room is spacious with TVA d fridges. The main down side is that tour groups are constantly arriving, which gives it a impersonal feel and single travellers have to wait a long time (especially when eating). Also meals and drinks are particularly expensive but the staff, particularly housekeeping and security are especially welcoming and helpful which makes up for it.

There is a tourist office attached to the hotel which was convenient to book activities and shuttle services. The hotels bus service to the falls was convenient and reliable. The spa was ok only - while the ladies did a good job, they allowed 3 men (not sure who they were) to come and sit in the spa, which made it slightly uncomfortable to get treatment while they were just sitting and watching

Great location

A very nice hotel within a walking distance to the town and only a few minutes from the falls (taxi 5-10$). The hotel takes credit cards but make sure to bring cash when you go to Zimbabwe, preferably USD but euros and any cash from the neighboring countries are also good, as there might be no cash in ATMs and the card readers wouldn’t always work. Don’t let that stop you from going though, it’s an amazing place and Rainbow hotel was a great base for exploration.

We loved this hotel, the staff were amazing and the show on the first night was lots of fun. Only problem we had was alcohol running out, so if you have a favorite drink or vodka maybe bring a bottle and they put it behind the bar for you. They even ran out of the local beer, problem with supplies.

This hotel was a step up from the Rainbow, with wonderful grounds on the Zambezi River, nice rooms, on site restaurant, pool, wildlife, and a free hourly shuttle bus to town and the Falls. It was an amazing stay. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and were treated so well. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned every day and they came and turned down our bedcovers and the moquito nets in the evenings. The food was of a very good quality. We also enjoyed the swin-up bar at the pool. We also enjoyed the entertainment in the evenings with tribal dancers and singers each night. It was our home away from home, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Victoria Falls.

The hotel says it is recently updated and refurbished but my room was very shabby and had ants in the bed. For just $40 more (and breakfast included) we should have stayed at the Safari Lodge.

This is not a review of the hotel per se, but the staff at Rainbow.
The hotel had a challenge accommodating my family last month due to renovation work. The front desk staff (Liberty, in particular) was kind to let us know of the situation a week in advance and offered to upgrade us to a different hotel keeping the rate flat. They also still honored our transfer from the Vic Falls airport to the hotel.

Enjoyed a 3 day stay at the Rainbow. Walked to the Falls which took about 25 minutes going via the Lookout at the Gorge from the hotel. The Falls are totally amazing. Also walked to Zambia over the bridge, you will need your passports. The walk over the bridge is just incredible and well worth doing. Just be aware that as tourists there are street vendors who can be a bit irritating but we didn't feel threatened by them. The baboons are definitely threatening though! don't carry food with you or keep it well hidden.

I can really only rate the overall experience because the reservation wasn't honored and I never saw more than the lobby (expedia won't post if you don't complete all). We were shuttled off 3 miles out of town the first night. They insisted we come back to the Rainbow the second night but again, after a very long day, we were shuttled off to another hotel. Our luggage wasn't at the hotel as promised. By the time we were settled, our evening plans were ruined. Since we weren't part of a tour, I'm afraid we were low priority. The hotels we were sent to were ok but for a short visit we wasted hours on trying to get settled.

Hotel hungry to make a buck

This hotel could be really good but they are hungry to make a buck. So, if you book through internet be ready to prove your payment and watch that they don't change price and add breakfast. My room had a poor functioning AC. Though they came to recharge it, they would not move me to another room. I had to endure the poor performance. They also want to force you to eat their buffet even thought they offer a menu which items they do not have. Staff is overly friendly trying to influence your decision to eat in restaurant buffet. Breakfast functional but nothing to write home about it you want service and good food. But, what do we expect in a country that id 95% unemployment and a tourist gate way.

After going through the nightmare of immigration at the airport, we arrived at the hotel only to be informed we had been \"upgraded\" to another hotel. We were more than perturbed as overbooking should never happen.
The reviews for this hotel were average but we opted to stay here for the location as it is within walking distance to town and, for a bit of a longer walk, the falls.
We were put in a hotel that required the use of a taxi service (we found a driver and called him whenever we needed a lift) that was $10 every time we wanted to go somewhere.
I have never given any hotel a 1 rating but if you are going to overbook a room and bump us to another hotel, you deserve it.

Booked & paid for in advance VF Rainbow hotel at checkin clerk got quiet, had to leave counter and discuss our reservation behind a closed door. We knew something was wrong, he came back told us we were to be taken elsewhere, he'd already called a taxi. No explanation, \"sending us to a sister hotel, going to get a better room, its a better place\" Asked for name, brochure and info about accommodation, unable to give us anything. Dumped off by taxi, it was fairly far away, in the middle of no where in a slum, no where you could walk to reach food or services. Room clean, lights not working,no washclothes and mosquito infested. Had to spray entire room with repellant, no nets for beds. Desk not helpful, only a couple of rooms functional in hotel. VF deluxe suites is a dilipidated place,most of building boarded up and torn up. Pool was about the size of our dining room table with crumbling bricks from sides into it. We had no where else to go, tried to make the best of it,took a taxi to get dinner locked passports and medicine in safe, when we got back decided to move but safe wouldn't open, management couldnt get it open either. We were now trapped there. My husband is diabetic and i had a tension migraine, it was an awful night, they wouldn't do anything about the safe until the next day. It took a locksmith almost 2& half hours when he finally showed up. Now we were too late to cancel reservation and well past 10am check out time, we were stuck again. No one cared.

My online booking was cancelled so had to be put up somewhere else for first night which was disappointing. I was told they have a challenge with online reservations. It was so inconvenient and disappointing as I booked and paid 3 months in advance . Manager tried to make up for it but first impressions count

Excellent service

Everything we wanted, and more. The hotel has a shuttle service, but we rarely used it as we enjoyed the short walks into town. The rooms are spacious and clean. Hotel staff were always polite and friendly. We look forward to our next visit.

Very average stay in a very noisy room

Upon arrival we were told that we still had to pay for our accommodation. This was sorted out later. We got to our room and there was no toilet paper. The old broken box air-conditioner is still just hanging in the wall. The room was extremely noisy with guests walking to and from their rooms.
