The staff was amazing! Diego took excellent care of us and Hugo in the bar was great. Every staff member we encountered was warm and friendly. The room was very comfortable and we had a great view of the lake. We definitely recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a place to stay in Puno. Thank you to All the incredible staff!

Staff was excellent. Restaurant was great food with a great view. I loved the garden alpacas and cuyes. My only real issues that do not affect the rating as they are more general to the city itself are that a lot of tours will not get you if you do not stay in the central area and you probably should not walk outside of the central area unless you want to deal with lots of street dogs. Take a cab, they’re very inexpensive.

We loved seeing the alpacas and cuy on the grounds - and appreciated gazebos, swings and teeter totter for fun moments. The staff treated us very well and we had all our meals at the nice restaurant and bar. We were able to store our bags after check out, allowing for the Uros tour by boat from the dock on the property. We have not stayed one night here but it was the best hotel of our three week Peru trip!

Our stay at the Sonesta Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the warmth of the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. They may need to be reminded of any ask twice, but they are really good people.
The location is breathtaking. Waking up to panoramic views of Lake Titicaca from our room was an experience I’ll never forget. The room itself was spotless, beautifully appointed, and cozy. And there were alpacas and guinea pigs at the courtyard. We also enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant, which offered a mix of local and Italian cuisine.
The hotel’s grounds are immaculate, with peaceful gazebos and a firepit to enjoy the sunset. You can also arrange tours to Uros and Taquile Islands by boat - right from the hotel beach. Oh, they have oxygen in the hotel, too!

This property, though it’s not near the plaza or Central area of town, is very beautiful and peaceful. I’m so glad we chose this place because as soon as you walk in the staff are more than willing to go above and beyond to help in anyway. The lobby is well appointed and gorgeous. There are two lovely fireplaces, which are lit in the evening. In the lobby, they offer Coka tea and Muna tea For those experiencing altitude sickness. There’s a beautiful gift shop which offers alpaca, scarves and other goods. There’s also a gift shop with local handmade goods. The room with the king size bed was spacious and very clean. There’s a very nice gas heater in the room to keep you warm throughout the night. The bed is very comfortable and the feather pillows keep you Sleeping soundly through the night. The shower has excellent water pressure and the water is very nice and hot. When you walk through the lobby, you will find the dining room and a bar leading out to the beautiful patio with lake views. There’s a bunch of cute guinea pig pigs outside and they have a few alpacas on Property to take pictures with. The breakfast was great with the large variety, so far our best breakfast in Peru. I would definitely recommend this hotel. And, I would definitely stay here multiple times whenever I have the opportunity. Luis, who works at the reception desk is very helpful and all of the reception staff are also helpful.

We had a great stay at Sonesta Posadas del Inca. We had a triple room with 3 beds and it was very comfortable. The bathroom was nice…one of the best we’ve had in Peru. Complimentary breakfast was good and we also dined in the restaurant for dinner one night. The front desk staff were very helpful with setting up taxis and airport transfers.

The view over the lake from the hotel was lovely - nice to watch the boats bobbing while I ate breakfast. The staff were friendly and helped arrange a taxi to greet me at 5am after my night bus arrived and I paid for an early check-in at that time, which was most welcome. I had filtered hotels in hotels.com to only feature those which had a spa. This hotel came up as having one but does not, so that was a bit of a disappointment.

Our whole family loved this place. The room was spacious and the beds were super comfortable. The restaurant had a great free breakfast. The service was excellent throughout our stay. We enjoyed walking into town even though it was a bit of a trek. For those less inclined, a taxi ride was cheap. Views of Lake Titicaca were amazing. I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful property situated on the shores of Lake Titicaca on the outskirts of Puno, just a short distance from the new stadium and the University. There is boat access from the hotel pier and tour operators for Uros Islands and Taquille can pick you up from the hotel.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable and we found the staff to be most gracious and accommodating to guests with limited Spanish language ability. The alpacas grazing the grounds was an added bonus. Recommended.

The shower drain was not working properly so the water in the tub took awhile to drain which meant you were standing in water while you showered. It looks like they are updating the hotel as a lot of the rooms on the first floor were under construction which is a good thing. Overall the hotel was very nice and the food in the hotel was really good. Free breakfast and we ate dinner there one night and we were pleasantly surprised.

Best to access via vehicle, although you can walk from the city of Puno but I don't suggest it. We had a beautiful room that was very clean with a large bathroom and our room had a view of the back of the property (which was very well maintained) including the lake. Staff were very friendly and professional. We arrived early and they stored our bags for us and delivered to the room. Highly recommend!

My stay at this hotel was a disappointment. The hotel does not look like in the pictures displayed on the website. Those photos must have been made long time ago. The property is in poor condition and the atmosphere is quite sad. Some rooms lack basic items- like a working desk. The carpets in rooms and hallways and old and smelly. The garden facing the lake is poorly maintained, looks messy and uninviting. There hotel looks like a resort but lacks basic facilities. You can really only stay in your room or have a meal in the restaurant. I only used this place for sleeping but even the quality of my sleep was poor as the room felt stuffy- no ventilation or air conditioning, just a cheap electric heater that is difficult to regulate. The housekeeping forgot to replace the water bottle and do the evening turn down service on the second day of my stay. All in all not a nice experience

The ad mentioned guinea pigs and llamas, but I was still stunned when we opened drapes in the morning and guinea pigs were running around - they were so fun to watch! The Sonesta was beautiful! It was great to wake up with views of the lake, a cup of coffee in the restaurant, and sights of alpacas in the lawn. The customer service was great, the rooms nice, and the grounds were spectacular! I think you would have to be really picky to find issues with the hotel. There is no elevator, so make sure to request a first floor if mobility is an issue. We didn't eat at the restaurant as we wanted to try some places near the square (there is nothing within walking distance). But the front desk will call a cab for around 8 soles each way.

We appreciated the chocolates we received each night in our room. We found it isolating at the hotel. We needed to visit and ATM and purchase some items and were required to take a taxi all the way to city centre everytime. For a hotel out of town there was very little amenities. No store or bank machine.

Nice view over the lake with guinea pigs running around. The hotel, and rooms feel like they good do with a little update. Hallways smell a little musty. The room was large but toilet handle broke and was not fixed in the 2 nights we stayed. There's not much around the hotel, you can't really walk to restaurants etc but cabs are cheap. Breakfast was pretty good. They could not use American Express when we tried to check out, they said our cards were denied even though we used them before and after staying at this hotel.

I talked to the front desk agent and she does not seem to care at all. She said you prepaid for two nights anyway. After arriving in Lima I called hotels.com and the agent said the hotel refused to refund the second night.

Terrible experience... the first night, they didn’t have the room for three persons that we paid for, so they have us the one with 2 beds 😡. On the second night when the kids were already in bed, I noticed that bedroom toilet was broken so we had to leave the bedroom to go to the bathroom at the corridor every time... we noticed that when we were already tired and with the luggage open, so we didn’t change the bedroom... on the day before leaving, they said they were sorry, and that I didn’t have to pay for the US$2 bottle of water that I had... Ridiculous... I was so tired and with two kids and spent 2 terrible nights...
They didn’t have a kettle as every other hotel in this category... the ONLY good thing about the hotel, was the view from the lake, but NOTHING else!!!! Never again...

Hotel was really good and staff extremely friendly. As mentioned by the early reviewers rooms were kept warm (it is winter in July in Puno) by a heater, though outside areas were slightly cold and you needed a sweater. Staff help us reheat some home cooked meal as one member in the family was not feeling good. Dining looking at the Lake Titicaca was gorgeous. Only sad part - we stayed only for two nights!

What you see is NOT what you get.

Buyer beware. This hotel looks beautiful and comfortable online, however the photos are obviously photshopped. It is old, shopworn, and needs major updating. There is no heat in the room but a space heater is provided. Sheets looked clean, but were not bleached. Bathroom was moldy. Showertub not clean. Area is very impoverished, so despite not being up to \"American\" standards, may be one of the better options.

Room was spacious. WiFi was included, but it was slow. The hotel is not within walking distance of town, but really, there’s not much to see in Puna. We stayed 3 days and nights and that was too long. Recommend the hotel.

To begin with it was such a disappointment as We had stayed at a Sonesta in Yucay and it was perfect, this hotel however does not meet the standards of a 4 Star hotel. The bell boy just looked at us when we arrived without trying to greet us or help us with the door.. he did not even move , smiled or greet us! The hotel doesn’t have an elevator, the carpet looks dirty and it was just plain disappointing , the staff was completely unable to help us or be creative in giving us advise about to how to deal with an strike that they had the night we arrived. Thank God we speak Spanish and manage on our own to find another hotel and leave town before the strike. We were too exhausted to call Expedia for our money back! The pictures in the web site are not at all the room that it was assigned to us! Terrible terrible!!!

The staff at this hotel were very helpful and we had many questions for them. The breakfast buffet was delicious with fresh fruits and huge olives. Coca tea available all day in the lobby. Very clean and nice. The only exception was the slow service in the bar, but we had a nice view of the lake to enjoy while we waited. The restaurant was nice, we ate there two nights in a row.

This hotel was extremely disappointing. First, the service was extremely poor at the front desk. They repeatedly forgot requests for taxis and trips to the lake. Basically, the front desk people will act as if they can assist you but you are better off booking through a separate agency. Second, the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. You are stuck using their facilities and they are not nearly what they claim to be online. The restaurant is mediocre but charges as if it is high end. The saving grace is the rooms really are nice and have comfortable beds. If I had to do it again though, I would stay closer to downtown and the pier.
