Helpful and friendly staff. It is about a 5-minute walk to Plaza De Armas. The heater works very well, and I love it. The bathtub /shower needs some updating. The caulking is coming off and needs some cleaning on the edges. Overall, it was an excellent hotel.

My parents had a room where the shower did not get too hot, and overall I felt the rooms were slightly cold, even with the heater on (this was in the winter), but overall this was a very comfortable stay. The location in Puno was also very convenient, within steps of the main plaza and the shopping street. It was also a short walk to the train station and the edge of the water.

The bed in my room was very uncomfortable and there was a lot of street noise, but I asked to switch rooms for the second night and though the room was smaller it was much quieter and the bed was very comfortable. Basic furniture and breakfast, motion-sensitive lights didn’t always work, but worth the very reasonable price.

The location was good for the Plaza de Armas and Parque Pino along with stores and restaurants nearby. We were able to walk to the harbor and enjoy the local sights. It was a very nice stay!

We had a great one day (24 hour) stay! I can't think of anything to complain about regarding the property or room itself. I was a little annoyed that I had to pay extra for two of my three kids (they enforced a strict one person per bed rule), but it was still worth it since I had booked a great price well in advance.

This was nice hotel to stay at as a transfer point from Cusco to La Paz. Most visitors will stay here to maybe visit Uros Island. This was probably the worst tour I have taken....it was very staged and it felt like they were begging for money. If you do the tour, don't go on the boats because all they do is paddle to the middle of the lake, then ask you for some money and a power boat pushes you back into shore. Very disappointing. I would not recommend the tour at all. The hotel was a nice change because it had a tub and hot running water. Great staff. Puno itself do not have much to offer though, so a single night is probably more than enough.

We booked the room thinking it was a good price Canadian a night and once we clicked okay we got message that second person was going to cost us double Canadian a night on top of the original. It would have been cheaper to book 2 single rooms and not using one of them than what we ended paying for a basic room.

The staff was really helpful whenever we needed anything. When our converter didn't work, they loaned us theirs for a long as we needed it. The breakfast was very good. They helped us confirm our tours and got us any messages. It is around the corner from Lima street with all kinds of restaurants and bars and shopping. It's only 2-3 blocks from city center.

My boyfriend and I are from Canada and recently took a trip to Peru. We stayed one night at Qelqatani and had a good stay there. The hotel is an older building and is quite dark inside, but we stayed in a large room (junior suite) for a decent price with a king size bed and were very comfortable. Puno is quite cold at night but the room had a portable heater so we were able to sleep no problem. Coco tea and breakfast is included in the price. We had our laundry done here and it ended up being quite expensive so I would recommend going elsewhere for laundry service or just put in a very small load. The hotel staff spoke very little English. Two bottles of water were included in the room which is always nice, and we were able to store our bags there overnight while we went on a tour of Lake Titicaca. Location is great- less than 5 minute walk to the Plaza de Armas.

This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. They ripped us off, booking us a $1 per person public bus for $10 per person, when they quoted us that price, which made us late for our flight. The heat and wifi didn't work in our room, meaning it was freezing, and it was extremely noisy. The hotel is well located, but the experience is terrible. Find somewhere else.

We stayed 2 nights there, before and after visiting the Lake Titicaca. The hotel is nice, rooms are clean, relatively large, bathrooms seemed to have been reburfished recently. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful.
We dined one night, and contrary to the rest, this was disappointing: service was very long, nothing special on the menu... you may want to dine out.
Otherwise this is a very good place to stay for a couple of nights before or after visiting the lake.

Good location close to the Plaza and in a quiet street. However the hotel facilities are not very modern and lack basic comfort, especially the room. It takes an hour to heat the room with a small radiator, bed mildly uncomfortable, no hot water the first night, the TV was tiny and second-hand, WiFi was extremely slow in the room. We appreciated that the hotel provided complementary water bottles, and the breakfast was OK. However staff was not helpful at all when we asked them for tips on what to do around the city.

Great hotel, best in all hotels I stayed in Peru

This was a great find. Completely updated inside with modern bathroom (all marble and floor to ceiling tiles)great shower with excellent water pressure and instant hot water). This set up such a high standard that I was never satisfied in any other hotels while in Peru. Only downside was the TV was really old and small compared to everything else in the room/hotel. But I barely had time to watch TV so I couldn't care less. They also gave complimentary water and coca candy everyday, it does not cost much but a nice gesture. Location is very good, just one block from the only touristy/walkable area in Puno. Free breakfast with decent choices, bread/bakery, meat and fruits, juice, milk, tea, coffee.

Breaky was great too in a buffet style but you could also add eggs to your breakfast. The wifi wasn't amazing but you're on holidays after all. Great stop before visiting Lake Titikaka but don't linger more than a night in Puno since it's quite irrelevant.

Location is great, close to food, shopping and plaza de armas. Stuff was helpful, showing us where to go on a map, helped us book tours and affordable transportation to the airport (shuttle, $5 Per person, airport is about one hour drive) and took care of luggage after we checked out. Room is clean. Furniture is a little oldish, but it didn't bother us. Breakfast selection was wide and fresh. Free bottle water. Koca candy as welcome gift. Very Good for the price.

Pleasant hotel in downtown Puno

My family of 6 stayed in this hotel for 3 nights as we used this for the hub of travel to sights around the area, and stayed to see the Festival de la Virgen de la Candelaria. We like the feel of the hotel; it isn't the cleanest or the newest, but it has a nice, traditional, safe feel about it. The front desk was pleasant and helpful, they let us check early in the morning of our arrival (8am) even though official check-in is much later. I noticed that there are many comments about the noise at this hotel: please note that if you are in town during the any of the large festivals, it is loud everywhere in town at most hours of the night. If you want to be involved with the experience of the festival this is a great hotel. If you want peace and quiet, stay in a hotel outside of town as everywhere in town will be loud.

People were great. Helped us end our trip sooner than planned due to illness. Was difficult to find due to one way streets, pedestrian streets and load of gravel dumped in the middle of the street they were on. The gravel was no fault of theirs, but make sure you get clear directions if you are driving. Also, Saturday night, the disco music never stopped until 5AM. Again, not their fault. Ask for a room on the other side of the hotel is you wan tot sleep without earplugs Sat night.

The Hotel Qelqatani is excellent for its price. The rooms are very affordable, and the staff are extremely helpful. All of my queries were addressed immediately. I also had some laundry done while there which was, while more expensive than I could have found elsewhere, incredibly convenient (same-day service). This hotel is definitely recommended.

A gem of a hotel

We were thrilled to have a moderately quiet hotel near the main tourist area of Cusco, with lots of restaurants, HOT water, a jacuzzi tub and a good morning breakfast. We stayed in a suite and our kids stayed in a triple. They said their room was noisy, but ours was nice and quiet. Room heaters made sure the rooms were warm and it was a luxury to wake up in a room that wasn't freezing in Peru's winter.

This hotel had all of the basic amenities needed for our two night stay. Though it was very cold in Puno at night, a space heater was provided in the room, which made it a little more comfortable. The breakfast was basic but good, and they gave us plastic bags to take food with us when we were leaving on early morning excursions. It was about a 3 block walk to the busy part of town, where stores are open until about 9:00. Wifi was not great in this hotel - it did not work in the rooms, and it did not consistently work in the lobby either. The staff at the front desk was extremely helpful in booking day tours for us. Even as late as 10pm, they were able to book a tour for us that left at 6am the next morning! They left us coca candies every day to help deal with altitude sickness.

Compared to other hotels in Peru, this was a welcome treat. We got the Jr. Suite for a few dollars more than the standard room and it was a large room with a jacuzzi tub at the end of a hallway so pretty quite. Plenty of hot water, lots of TV stations and two heaters in the room. Breakfast included fruit, crepes, juices, yogurt and eggs to order. An excellent find 1 block from the main tourist street and plenty of restaurants and shops.

Great hotel for a Puno stay!

The room was fairly spacious with a lovely view of the Condor statue and a large bathroom (which was much appreciated as we were sharing a triple room!). It was clean and comfortable, though internet was a bit weak in our room. It was a bit cold in the room initially but when we asked for, and got, a second heater it solved that problem! A free bottle of water for each guest was also provided every day.

The staff were lovely - the front desk staff spoke great English and always knew where everything in town was. There is free coca tea available at most times of day and the breakfast spread is quite good, though the only hot food item are the eggs that you can order straight from the kitchen.

Location-wise, the hotel is not too far from Calle Lima (the main shopping street) and the Plaza de Armas. It is tucked down a street parallel to Calle Lima so it's actually quite quiet in the hotel while just being a 2min walk away from the bustle of the main street. The street it's on may not look the best but we felt safe when walking back even late at night.

Overall, a great stay in Puno at the Qelqatani! We stayed for 3 nights and I was glad I had selected the hotel for our stay.
