The parking was free and located right by the resort and spa areas. The room was clean, cozy, and nicely decorated, the pillows were rather hard, though. There was no fridge or microwave in the room, as American guests might desire. There was a hot water boiler, two cups and one spoon, 2 bottles of still water, tea bags and instant coffee singles, and milk singles (during our visit to the area we could not find any coffee creamer in liquid or powdered form anywhere).

The area around the resort was pretty, rural with green hills and trees. You could hear the highway noise from the parking lot of the hotel, though. Access to the resort grounds from the highway was fast and easy.

To eat at the restaurant you had to make reservations, so we did not go. We did not use the spa, although it was included with our stay. We ate at the bar a few times, sitting in the winter garden looking out, and the food there was delicious! We only had breakfast in the designated breakfast room once and thought it was expensive for what was offered. But the view from the window was lovely.

The hotel staff was very nice and friendly :)

In summary, I would recommend the resort and spa for it's friendly staff, nice scenery, clean and cozy rooms, convenient access, and proximity to other interesting places to visit.

Disappointed

No doubt this was once a fantastic hotel, it exudes charm and quality but everything is now a bit tired. Positives - nice comfy bed; loads of parking and food was pretty good. Negatives - wifi unreliable, TV was limited and constantly broke up. Most annoyingly woke one morning to having no hot water...mentioned it to reception on the way out and received little more than a shrug!! Drinks were eye-wateringly expensive which made eating in an expensive option even for soft drinks.

Not as advertised room 211

Upon arrival it looks very stylish and well kept, staff are well dressed and very well spoken. We were then asked for a €150 deposit which the male staff member stuttered when asked what it was for told us it was to hold in case we called down to the bar. To learn on reviews it’s a security deposit(he could have just said that it would have been fine instead of lying). When we checked into the room we were expecting a standard room as advertised on here but to our shock it was nothing like it I’ll include photos. Paint was patchy, room was very dated, the view was terrible, trunken to hide wires were unmatched and different colours. The pillows, duvet & bed was very comfortable and staff last night even delivered up a sheet to us because our room got very warm and we needed something lighter. The bathroom was a decent size and fully tiled looked well. I received an email during my first stay to ask how things were and mentioned the above and no one got back to me then when checking out my wife was asked if there was anything they could improve on and she mentioned the above he replied with well that’s the first photo advertised on the website of the few rooms at the front the were done up but if you look through the website you see the old rooms too.
This was a wedding anniversary gift to my wife and we have been to nicer 3 stars. It’s not a 4 star hotel while it has lovely garden and view from the restaurant the service was extremely slow and staff need more training

Noisy. Ancient. Extremely Poor Service.

On arrival at this hotel, it looks like it's scheduled for demolition. Don't be fooled by the nice room photos here on Hotels.com or over on their official website. Only 5% of the rooms look like that - on the ground floor with windows that you can hear every car driving into the car through. Rest of the hotel is an antique and not in a good way. Every door closing or person coughing, you'll hear - no matter what room you're in. The hotel is not at all soundproofed and so noisy. We had a 2 night stay booked and went straight back to reception and explained we wouldn't be able to stay here because we would never sleep. The front desk lady said she would pass this on to their 'revenue team' on Monday (it was Saturday) so that it could be refunded. We politely handed back our room key (room unused) and left. Funnily enough, we never heard from the revenue team, and when chased by Hotels.com, the hotel said they wouldn't refund the rooms as there was nothing wrong with them. So on top of everything else - exceptionally poor service. I would invite the hotel staff to stay in their own hotel rooms. Good luck being able to even doze off (you won't stay asleep for sure!). We will continue to pursue this through Hotels.com and if need be, our card company. I am so surprised at the way they have(n't) dealt with us in a polite or courteous manner after leaving the hotel. Obviously they think ignoring a problem will make it go away. Avoid this hotel like the plague. Stay elsewhere.

Not a 4 star experience.

Stayed for 1 night for New Year’s Eve,
On arrival it was full of kids running around screaming in the bar, couldn’t have a conversation, it said online there was a library room where you could relax with a drink but that was locked. Lunch was ok very basic food, (ham and cheese bap and Pasta and jar of tomato sauce) and the staff all looked to be very young & inexperienced, didn’t have good hospitality training at all. The girl barista was extremely rude. You also couldn’t leave a credit card on your room to just add all your expenses like all normal hotels, this also caused a lot of confusion for the meal package that was booked, the lady at the front desk it seemed it was her first day on the job. There was about 4 managers walking around but it would have been better if they trained the staff. We were really banking on the woodland restaurant being as good as it said online, firstly the pictures online don’t look at all what it was, for Christmas there wasn’t even a tree, lights or a painting on the wall, cheap tables and chairs with over head bright spotlights, zero dining experience atmosphere, food was pub grub, deserts and cocktails were the saving grace, we went back to the bar for the new years celebration which was the late late on the telly and a guy playing guitar badly, rarely leave bad reviews but this is honest and how it was, serious improvements need to be made to call it a 4 star.

Good hotel for leisure but needs a bit of updating

We had a great stay at Glenview and the surrounding Wicklow mountains areas. The hotel is easy to get to (2 minutes off the motorway), has a bunch of history, and is very well decorated with loads of amenities - a bar, a pool/gym, restaurant, walking trail, and more. Our only criticisms were that there's very little soundproofing through the rooms (people walking in the hallways, watching TV, etc. travels easily), almost no airflow so it gets stuffy unless you have a window open, and the rooms and bathrooms could use a bit of an updating as things are a bit dated or attention to detail in the refurbishment wasn't done as good as expected of a 4 star hotel. Overall, staff were very nice and we would stay here again.

Nice hotel in a secluded spot although hard to spot from the road and nearly drove past it. Has a slightly dated feel to it but its well maintained and clean. Has a nice garden bar and a walk in the surrounding grounds which was a nice addition. Plenty of parking and close access to the motorway for getting to places. Late 12pm check out is also handy.

Dated and lacking

This hotel is dated. Not old in a charming European way, just old. The carpets were shabby and tattered, the ancient blow dryer barely worked and there were no usb ports. There were also no amenities that you usually expect in a 4* hotel. No robes, no slippers, no towel warmer, no mini fridge. One of the things they did have that should have been great was a beatiful pool. Unfortunately when we went to use it, the pool was filled with local children taking swim lessons. There was no place for actual hotel guests to swim for most of the day. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive but the food was mediocre and expensive. When we arrived our room had 1 towel and the worst pillows I have ever slept with! House keeping never came to service our room. I would not reccomended this hotel.

Not a good family hotel. Clean but disappointing

Had to book two rooms as we were two adults, and two children. When we checked in, they only checked us in for one of the rooms (even though we were all four standing there, and the room they gave my partner only had room for 3 people), immediately realising, I went back to get the second room, only to find it was allocated on another floor, and there was nothing they could change about that. Next, as we checked in, we were asked if we wanted to make a restaurant reservation, we told them, no, we'll use room service. When we rang for room service, we were told there was no room service, and the only restaurant reservation was now at 9:15pm. Luckily there was the bar, so the kids didn't do without. Next, we booked because it had a pool, only there were no slots available, that afternoon, evening, or the next morning, so we had disappointed children. If they had just emailed us we we could have booked a pool slot ahead of time. I really think that guests should have some pre-reserved slots.

The rooms were clean, but no fridge, and no plug sockets by the beds.

Whilst it was maintained and clean, there was some mold in one bathroom, and definite damp issues in the other, and in the bar.

It seems to be used mainly for leisure centre for non-guests, and as a place to stay to go into Dublin (interesting given that shouldn't be happening right now), judging by the number of taxis, and the raucous returns to nearby rooms between 11pm and 1:30am.

We only got to stay here for one night due to our early flight so we didn't get a chance to explore the area or use the amenities but they kindly upgraded our room due to our honeymoon and it was a nice touch to finish our long day of travel and trip. The bed was the most comfortable of all the places we stayed! We enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant as well.

nice hotel but my room 211 was very small and the bathroom was tiny . The tap made a really loud noise and the bathroom floor was stained. The view from the window was the top of a shed. Couldn't get normal temperature in shower -either boiling or freezing . Ended up having a freezing shower. Telly wasn't working when i got there so I had to call someone up to fix it

Looks can be deceiving

Stayed at the hotel this weekend as busting family in Dublin. Grounds are fantastic , however it was evident assoo. As we entered into the reception the hotel is long past it's sell by date.

Changed rooms twice. On second occasion bathroom flooded and condensation everywhere from shower. No a/c in room and very outdated decor.

We were moved to another room which was an improvement. However after going to the bar and bistro and seeing slugs climb up the wall we decided not to eat.

Staff very pleasant but will not return back. Hotel needs major investment to be brought up to modern standards.

Very nice Hotel - very nice staff, and room

Myself and my mum stayed in this hotel for one night in September. It is a lovely Hotel - situated between Glendalough and Powerscourt. So it made the ideal location as we were visiting both these places.
The ground were lovely - a nice woodland walk around the river too. It was a lovely peaceful location. Staff were all very pleasant. Room was lovely and spacious, plenty of storage space etc. We had dinner in the Bistro and it was very nice too - large portions. Good value for money and will definately stay here again when visiting Wicklow.

Good Hotel

We stayed here after doing Hell&Back so primarily wanted a quiet room & to use the pool facilities, both were as expected. The place is lovely the gardens in particular. The only negative we had is some of the rooms and the pool need to be done up, paint peeling and coffee spill marks on the walls too. It's not a big issue for us but would improve the appearances of the room & leisure center. I wouldn't hesitate to go back, the staff are lovely and the food was great.

Underwhelming

The staff were very nice and helpful but the room we were given on the ground floor was disappointing. It was very small while the walls needed a new coat of paint and the headboard and mounted wall lights looked cheap and outdated, not resembling the pictures advertising the accommodation at all. The food also made my partner quite sick. Overall an underwhelming experience that didn’t live up to the price of the package or the 4 star rating.

Lovely lazy days spent here-pool, hot tub, touring

We wanted somewhere to stay in Wicklow that would give us both somewhere pleasant to stay, and from which we could tour the Wicklow area - at a reasonable price!
Using the satnav, it proved difficult to find the hotel. However, in asking some of the locals we did find our way to it. Rather than rely on the satnav, perhaps best to look this up via any directions that may be on the hotel's website.
On a less than pleasant day weatherwise, we had a very pleasant walk around the hotel's grounds - lucky we took along some rough walking shoes for our other sightseeing trips.
The blazing fire in the Library area was welcoming, and enabled us to relax with our books/newspapers after long days of touring.
We especially regretted having made other plans for the evening when we saw the roast beef special on others' plates. While we were waiting for the barman, the manager (I think) came along and asked if we needed anything/were finding all okay. When we said how sorry we were to be missing the roast beef that evening he asked if we might wish to have it as a special request on another evening. We got our wish!!! I understood from someone else later on that a large group had ordered roast beef for their celebratory meal on that evening. As far as we were concerned, that group got it because this was OUR special request!!!
We left very happy at the end of this short break, and will surely return to again enjoy the ambience and very pleasant, personal service experienced. Thank you.

Stayed for 3 nights room 103 on ground flood. Big room, big bed, 3 comfortable chairs. BUT bathroom smells badly, light over washbasin would not turn off, 2 night on visiting toilet found beetles running around floor. Kettle on desk dangerous as flex does not reach socket. Breakfast time: despite room not been busy (even at 10.00 am) had to insist on window table as staff too busy preparing tables for lunchtime, not concentrating on comfort/service of guests. Wi-fi unsatisfactory, to log in you have to agree to ‘Terms & Conditions’ - no notion what they are. Also EVERY time you use iPad or iPhone you log in - hence no business people using Hotel.

Nice sized rooms and great food

Perfect location with amazing views over the glen. Friendly helpful staff and great food.
Only complaint would be the leisure centre wasn't what I expected, it's a public centre that holds swim lessons and is very busy. The Treatment rooms are not in the leisure centre but in the main hotel, really nice and reasonably priced treatments but no relaxation room. Which is a shame.
