The staff here was lovely. However, the bathroom in my room had mold and the room had either been smoked in, or smoke from another room was wafting into mine. Lovely folks who run the place, but the amenities themselves could stand improvement.

Our room did not have any blankets or towels. The room smelled like and ashtray and urine. We spoke to the lobby associate who told us that the rooms did not include towels or bedspreads/blankets. He also said he was unaware of a smell since it was just cleaned and that no he did not have another room. We left and went to another hotel.

Decent hotel but disappointing experience

Good location - few mins walk from a subway station, lots of great restaurants and a 24 hr supermarket. The concierge was very friendly and helpful; check in process was easy. The room was generally clean, but run down. My main issue was that my toilet seat was broken and the hotel did nothing to fix it. I was told the maintenance staff was working at other properties and it would take 20 mins, which turned to 45 mins and another hour after that. I was very frustrated as I had been travelling for 2.5 hours prior and needed to use the washroom. A staff member let me use another washroom on the property when I explained how long I had been waiting. It was my last night in Rome and I didn't want to waste it in the hotel room so I finally left. This delayed me and I barely got to see/do anything for my last night which was so disappointing. I checked out the next morning and still no one had come by to fix the washroom. I've never had this experience at a hotel before and it made it a very disappointing stay.

Good location but needs some love

Good location between two Metro stations but the hotel has seen better days. We only stayed one night on the last day of our trip so it was ok as the price was good. I hope its true that it will get some much needed tlc soon.

Aside from the pool being “under maintenance”, my stay was amazing, beautiful mini resort style property. If you have lots of bags, it might be tricky to get down the stairs but lovely front desk and room.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room itself had everything you need, including a Smart TV, safe, and mini-fridge. The facilities were well-maintained and all was cleaned regularly. The Strand is super close to the nearby metro stations, making it a convenient place to stay. Lovely atmosphere!

Needed a reasonably priced comfortable hotel with 4 individual rooms with en-suite to visit Rome . It’s not central Rome but a short walk to the metro and your in the heart in 20 minutes , plenty of shops cafes near by .

Worst hotel i have stayed in. The first room was appalling and i received a room which resembles the advertisement on your web portal. No electrical sockets worked and the receptionist thought it was funny. I left at 01.00 after tearing my hair out trying to charge my phone. I would appreciate a full refund.

Very disappointed first things first I asked for a room for four people and they didn’t give it to me. They gave me two separate rooms had to split my family into two the rooms they showed on the website we didn’t even get those .. half of the hotel is below street level so the sewage can smell through the plumbing into the room the drains were clogged in the bathroom and had a hard time trying to get into the shower because they were so tiny. Just not happy.

The pictures were deceiving I was very unsatisfied with the overall experience. I asked for a non smoking room at the desk we were still placed in a smoking room that was dirty with broken furniture. The surrounding area was unsafe with minimal places to eat. Taxi drivers all mentioned how terrible the area was. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone very upset with the overall experience.

The advertised swimming pool was unusable and full of stagnant water.

Our “suite” consisted of a double bed and a jacuzzi with next to no floor space and a small annex full of empty kitchen cupboards and a sink but no other kitchen facilities.

There were ants in the annex. The jacuzzi in the bedroom was rusty and the skirting boards were falling apart.

To top it off there our room flooded at 3am when the jacuzzi in the neighboring “suite” broke and we were forced to change rooms in the middle of the night.

I feel like Expedia should not advertise this property. Out of 4 night stay I didn’t not sleep for the two first night.
We were put in an annex to the hotel
That doesn’t even look like part of the hotel with dodgy and in my opinion metal dangerous staircase. The room was smelly and the door could not be locked. We arrived very late and were exhausted on arrival so went to sleep without unpacking and complained about the room first thing in the morning. We were told that there’s nothing they can do as they are fully booked but will move us to the main hotel for the third night. On the second night we attempted to use the hot tub on the night only to find out that the hot tub flooded the whole room. When the manager on duty came to inspect the room he was in shock and said we can not stay in the room. They ended up moving us late at night to another tiny room that I think is used by staff. The room stunk of cigarettes. But we were shuttered and it was very lat at that stage. In the morning they moved us to a third room within the hotel that I would say satisfactory. Some of our clothes got soaked and couldn’t been used. When we were due to leave we asked for a late check up and we’re told no!!!! This hotel should not even be graded as hotel. Let alone 3 stars. Even the stuff asked us to put bad review as they said everyone keeps complaining.

Expedia should have never allow hotels like this one to be advertised on their site!!!

Room size is a 10’ x 10’. Very small. Hard to walk around. Shower door is extremely small. Air conditioning didn’t work well. Very warm room! No restaurant in premises. Not even coffee!

The pictures on the website give a better impression than the thing is - apparently a wide angle was used for the pictures and the pictures were taken during the opening of the hotel. The man who received us did not speak absolutely English, the reception was just around the corner. Showing the room, it looked like he was checking to see if the previous guests had left. The room has probably been smoked for years, because all the textiles had soaked through it, the window didn't open and there were burn marks on every corner. Wifi did not work and there were signs of decay elsewhere in the room and bathroom.
The area itself did not leave a safe impression either. I understand why this hotel is non-refundable.
We stayed there long enough to find a new hotel and left.

The Strand Hotel is a small hotel on the via Tuscolano. The room are a good size with large comfortable beds. The furniture is reasonably modern but basic and a set of drawers would have been useful. The bathrooms were a good size but our shower was badly positioned. Housekeeping was a bit hit and miss particularly regarding towels though any comments were acted on pretty quickly. Breakfast, while consisting of the kind of fare expected in Italian hotels was haphazard and disorganised and this really does require a radical rethink and a better layout. The staff, all of them were very pleasant and helpful, indeed in some cases going above and beyond to put things right. Its position, a little way out from the centre was chosen for a particular reason but might not be suitable if exploring the historic centre.

Very pleasant stay!!

I was a bit unsure after reading the bad reviews but decided to take these with a pinch of salt! And I’m glad I did as the hotel was absolutely perfect for what we needed. It was close to the centre, only about 20 minutes on the metro which isn’t super easy to navigate. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The pool was fab, clean and a great place to chill out in the sun. The reception staff were also particularly helpful during our stay

Area wise it was close to metro a short ride to the centre of Rome so that was fine.
The hotel was a real let down though. Lots of little issues that could easily be addressed but haven’t been;
Toilet seat broken and kept sliding off.
Cupboard handle came off.
Only two hangers.
No blankets available when asked only sheets.
Room a bit shabby ( paint chipped and peeling on wall and needs paint)
Another plug point both sides of bed needed.
Shower needs descaling.
Fixed shower at one height not ideal.
Only one mirror and that’s in bathroom.
Biggest issue for me was lack of light, really dismal room even with all lights in and couldn’t see to do make up!!
No natural light coming into rooms so need better lighting!!

One of the Eve reception men not at all friendly. Others are nice.
Cancelled breakfast as was a joke!!!!.....
Toaster was a 1980’s sandwhich maker!
Fruit on choice was an old banana and old oranges.
Other choice was ham, one type of cheese, salami, cucumber all warm.
Cornflakes only cereal choice.
One type of juice.
Coffee machine wasn’t working properly.
Dry croissants.
WORST BREAKFAST IVE EVER EXPERIENCED!

Indoor pool not in use. Outdoor pool ok but needs a clean and unheated.

Terrible room, filled with mosquitoes, bugs, roaches. Very dirty bathroom. Toilet water tank was dripping and hand held shower was broken. Seems like his hotel never does housekeeping. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. Above all area is not safe. Pictures on Expedia are not what the rooms actually look like, in real it’s horrible.

Nice hotel but weird smell

Hotel is in a hidden location at first my boyfriend and I thought we ended up in the wrong place. Nowhere does it say the strand hotel. However it was a decent hotel rooms were clean but had a weird smell.

Overall hotel staff were friendly and really nice.
Hotel is near the train station which was very easy to get to downtown Roma and airport by train.

Not as expected.. at all!

When the taxi dropped us off the hotel was hidden on a side road. The neighborhood was a little sketchy at first but soon after we realized it was how ALL of Rome was, it was in the locals area of town and my party and I felt safe when around the area. The hotel is gated and has a nice outdoor entrance with the overwhelming smell of jasmine! The staff when arriving was not friendly he didn't have 2 rooms for us he only had one and he had my days and nights mixed up completely, took a lot of arguing with a language barrier to get it situated. Getting on the elevator to go up to the room showed us the pool was drained and area surrounding the pool was a disaster. The room was a nice size, the balcony was a unexpected plus, the bathroom was horrible, there were no lamp shades on our lamps, the air conditioner didn't work, bathroom was flooded and it wasn't anywhere near as nice as advertised. I requested a new room with working AC, I got upgraded in bed size, but no balcony, no toilet seat, the toilet seat was on the floor, the shower was better, the mirror in the bedroom was shattered and the door where the fridge was supposed to be was hanging off the latches broken and no fridge. After I realized the quality of this hotel was I gave up. There were 2 receptionist one with good english and very kind with suggestions and directions the other with no English and very rude. Overall this was a okay experience as expected the quality of a hotel in rome. Will not recommend or return.

Nice but lack of security on site

There is a lack of security at the level of the ground floor. An outside person broke into our room and stole a backpack. We had 3 single beds. Two were comfortable but the 3rd was not at all. Clean. Pool ok and patio chairs are comfortables. At the desk, they are really helpfull, welcoming and smiling.

Hard to find in questionable area

Booked room with double beds and told not available. After complaining we're told on would be available next day. There was no safe or refrigerator that was shown on Expedia. The hotel is in an alley and businesses beside it didn't know where it was. The young man at the desk was very friendly and tried to accommodate us. The woman was not.

Horrible.

Checked in, we were put in a room across the alleyway. Borderline prison like. Room had crumbs and then shower head was broken. Handle broke off. We spoke to front desk and they said they could not repair. We had no other resort then to stay there since we checked in around 11:30pm. After making a claim with Expedia they still denied giving us a credit. Also the complimentary shampoo and lotion was already halfway used.

Functional - not the best for business

This hotel is real mix so go in eyes open and with limited expectations. First, it is a bit challenging to find, even when you have a good idea where to look. The listed address is on the main street but the entrance in is a side ally. It would be helpful to have a sign on the street with an arrow pointing in the dead end alley. The \"Hotel\" sign on the building is half covered by an overgrown bush. The actual name of the hotel nor the actual building number were not marked anywhere that we could find outside so you are left to wonder if you found the right place. The room and bathroom were small even by Italian standards. As single business travelers, my colleague and I had separate rooms on the top floor. The sink is literally in your face when sitting on the toilet. I'm small and fit but I'm sure the shower is barely negotiable for anyone over 6ft or a little on the \"big boned\" side. The is no space for desk & chair so to work in my room, I set my laptop up on the TV table and sat on the night stand. For a small hotel, they have a very functional gym. Other reviews have noted you can hear/feel the subway pass under the building so if you are a light sleeper, this might be a problem.
All thing considered, it was fine for 2 nights and I appreciate the earlier posted reviews so that I wasn't expecting more than a very basic place that was going to be rough around the edges.

Whilst not walking distance from the centre the hotel was so close to the metro it was easy to experience most of the city. The receptionist was wonderfully helpful. If you want somewhere nice to put your head whilst enjoying the city then look no further.

The hotel was lovely and clean as was our room. The little fridge in the room was nice to keep bottles of water cool in. the shower was powerful and we had a huge balcony over looing the pool. The pool area was clean with comfy sun loungers which we enjoyed. The man on reception was very helpful, giving us information about the city, local restaurants to eat at and tips on the best way to get to the tourist attractions or airport. The only issue for us was the noise - the hotel is under a flight path and above the metro line so during the day/evening there is constant noise - not so good for a light sleeper. However the metro line was very handy for getting in and out of Rome centre and the station was within walking distance.

The entrance is located halfway down an alley and is not lit, so it may be hard to find. The area looked a little sketchy at night, but the hotel is behind a locked gate and I felt secure. Super close to the metro, which was helpful. The only weird part was hearing the trains - sounds like a really loud heartbeat. You get used to it after the first couple.

Cute, clean hotel in a residential area of rome. It takes about 20-25 minutes all together to get to the city center, but if you have the time, it is ok! Otherwise you might prefer staying closer to termini. There is no breakfast, but there is a good/inexpensive cafeteria right next to the hotel. Reception staff was great. Only negative side: we forgot a pair of boots (fairly new) in the hotel and when we came back the same afternoon after having checked out, they had not been returned...so i guess don't forget anything 'cause you will \"lose\" it.

We really liked this place, it was clean and really nice and new. it was a pity that the lift wasn't working when we were there. we wish the pool bar was open and really needs some seats around the pool area for relaxing. the young guy on reception rocked, he help us soo much with silly little thing and places to eat. we found it a good distance from city. about 10 stops from main station, but takes about 15min max including walking to/from station. highly recommend!

We stayed at the Strand over Easter

We stayed at the Strand over Easter weekend, 2009. The hotel is a bit difficult to locate when driving down the street - look for one small sign posted on a building about 6 ft. up. Outdoor area of the hotel is picturesque (small pool with swim up bar) but the bar was not yet up and running. There was a nice patio which we enjoyed, but we had to sit on the ground because no patio furniture was available. Rooms were nice, comfortable, but small (as expected). Elevator was not working. Desk attendants were friendly and helpful. Short walk to the red-line Metro, which made seeing the city quite easy. It was great to find a hotel close enough to the city that had secure parking (for a fee). Definitely recommend the hotel and will stay there again.

Das Hotel ist absolut renovierungsbedürfrig . Löcher und Flecken in der Bettdecke , Vorhängen . Löcher im Boden . Falls jemand am Pool interessiert sein sollte : vergessen ! Die Entfernung zum Zentrum mit dem Taxi sind realistisch 20-30 Minuten - nicht wie angegeben . Achtung : das Hotel liegt außerhalb der Zone von 55€ pauschal zum Flughafen . Es sind deswegen 75€ !

Dårlig standard og ingen pool

Værelse lever ikke på til billiede, vores værelse var øgelagt, skaber med køleskabet var muggent.
Man skulle betale 15 eur per person/dag for at benytte poolen, som ikke står beskrevet nogle steder. Derudover siger da poolen er ren og kan bruges, men den var helt grøn og ulækker.

La personne à l'accueil du soir ne fait aucun effort pour vous accueillir, on était avec notre enfant nous avons donc demandé un coussin en plus

There was a really bad smell in the hotel and in the room. When we left the hotel, the smell stuck on all of ours clothes. The washroom is right next to the bed, and it didn’t close well, so you just had to sleep next to that. The room is also very small. The bed and the pillow were way too soft and sinks. In general, the room wasn’t in good condition.

Laut Beschreibung gebe es einen Pool der allerdings schon anscheinend länger nicht funktioniert. Auf Anfrage gebe es Parkplätze, ohne verfügbare Abstellplätze finde ich es schwierig einen Parkplatz anzubieten.

Wir waren bis heute morgen dort für 5 Tage. Ich kann die negativen Beanstandungen anderer nicht nachvollziehen. Wir waren sehr zufrieden.
Leider ist der Pool nicht zu nutzen aktuell was ich sehr schade fand.
Aber das Hotel ist sauber, es hat nicht gerochen, die Anbindung war gut das Personal war sehr freundlich!!
Wir würden wieder dort Urlaub machen.

Hadde en positiv opplevelse. Vi hadde booket budget rom, men ble oppgradert til suite da vi sjekket inn. Var skeptisk på grunn av mye dårlige anmeldelser om kundeservice og renhold. Opplevde at det ble gitt veldig god service av dagskiftet, og at renhold og stand på rommet fra greit i med tanke på prisen samt at det er et tre stjerners hotell.

Siamo arrivati ed abbiamo avuto la prima sorpresa con il televisore con lo schermo rotto...sostituito successivamente con un televisore adattato e poggiato sul tavolino senza neanche una base del quale il telecomando aveva le batterie scariche e di cui ho dovuto chiedere la sostituzione.
Un lume a muro lateralmente il letto appeso perchè la staffa era rotta.
La stanza piena di zanzare.
Esperienza assolutamente da non ripetere per chi prenota un hotel 3 stelle.
Hotel ad 1 stella.

Terribile se potete non soggiornate li!

Dico solo che dopo aver pagato in anticipo ho scoperto che la stanza dove dovevo soggiornare per 5 giorni aveva la finestra rotta!
Dopo l' Intrvebtondi Hotels mi hanno cambiato la stanza ma ad oggi non ho ricevuto nessun rimborso per scusarsi della situazione.
La stanza dove dove sono stato spostato era di un livello inferiore e sporca.

Nice small hotel

We saw some bad reviews on the hotel, but it looks like they are handling them. The were very kind and helpful. The pool had been neglegted, but they were definately trying to get it clean again. We used every day. Its a nice little hotel in the suburb. Definately a place we would come back to…. And its very easy to go to rome by bus, ehich is just outside

Uno dei peggiori hotel visti in vita mia. Causa ritardo del volo, ingannato dalle foto e descrizioni sui vari siti, abbiamo prenotato una camera tripla per la notte del 16 Agosto, onde evitare di metterci in viaggio alle 8 di sera e fare 350 km di auto, dopo 4 ore di attesa x il volo di ritorno. Arrivati in struttura, abbiamo subito notato un esterno non molto curato. All'interno,la zona dedicata alla reception, è quasi più piccola del bagno di casa mia. C'è da dire che la persona che ci ha accolto, è un signore sorridente, sempre gentile e disponibile. Ci dice che ci tocca una doppia ( nonostante la prenotazione per tre persone). Per noi va bene essendo una sistemazione d'emergenza.Appena entrati in camera, le amare sorprese. Si sente una fortissima puzza , come quella che si sente nelle stazioni della metro. Accese le luci, notiamo un asciugamani sporco, steso vicino la parete alla destra del letto. Onestamente non mi azzardo minimamente a toccarlo. La mensola di vetro situata affianco alla TV è lesionata e pericolosamente fragile. Sotto la mensola, su una specie di mobiletto dove forse c'è il frigo, regna sovrana la polvere. Lenzuola con qualche pelo/capello di ignota provenienza e anche con qualche macchiolina. Si entra in bagno. Lavandino lesionato, doccia attaccata al muro con la cordicella d'emergenza, vasca piena di sporcizia e uno strano insetto morto sul pavimento accanto al bidet. Nonostante avessimo già pagato, abbiamo deciso di andare via e farci i 350 km.

Hébergement bien si vous avez le sommeil lourd et si vous aimez vous taper des longs trajets en bus car ligne métro impatricable
De plus la porte de douche, la lumière de la chambre étaient tout deux casser et on ne parle pas de la quantité de poussière présente dans la chambre.

Det var en del saker som var gamla och väldigt smutsiga såsom dynorna ute på balkongen. Rummet luktade bondgård hela vår vistelse som var 7 nätter. Rummet var extremt litet och trångt för 2 pers med 2 resväskor. Även badrummet var väldigt liten. Poolen som hotellet har är smutsig och för det ska man betala 10€ per person, per dag. Inte värt. Kortet till rummet lämnas till receptionen varje gång man lämnar rummet, det tyckte jag var märkligt. Städningen gjordes grundligt varje dag. Hotellet ligger 5min gång till tunnelbana och bussar vilket gjorde det smidigt för oss att ta oss in till centrala Rom som tog ca 15min, vilket var väldigt bra. Hotellet får en 2/5 enbart för hur den ligger till i förhållande till centrala Rom.
