Room 106 under the stairs, terrible

Don't take room 106 unless you want to renact the under the stairs scene on Harry Potter.
The room is under the main entrance and the reception. You can hear every footstep and voice

This location is excellent if you want to walk to sightseeing locations within a mile or so. The Aviva stadium is an easy walk through safe neighborhoods. The included breakfast was great and included eggs. I would stay here again.

Upscale neighborhood, close to restaurants

Nice B&B with very helpful staff and free parking in upscale neighborhood. Many good restaurants a 5 min walk away. Walk into city center in 15 to 20 minutes. Breakfast was excellent with eggs, fruit, toast, sausage, bacon and more. Rooms are not fancy, but bed was comfy. I'd stay again.

Surprisingly good & value for money accommodation

I was lucky to have found this B&B. It was a last minute decision to stay Dublin and was desperate because almost all hotels are either fully booked or too pricey because 1) it is still tourist season 2) it coincided with the World Meeting of Families and coming of the Pope to Ireland. I find Waterloo Lodge reasonably priced, clean and quiet. The food is standard but the extra personal touch of the personnel made the difference. The location is also very good and access to shops and restaurants as well as public transport is ideal. Kasia at the reception was very helpful and courteous. I will surely recommend this B&B to friends and business associates.

Convenient and good value

Generally good. Room 106 was a basement room in an odd position: you had to go through the dining room to access it, and the only natural light came from a sort of cellar with a wall a few feet away. There was quite a bit of noise from the floor above, and in the morning they closed the door to the dining room so you had to exit the hotel into the car park, go back into the main reception through the front door, and back downstairs. None of this is disastrous, but I'd ask not to be in 106 if I stayed again.

This is my third stay at Waterloo Lodge and I would stay there again. Good service, pleasant clean room, great location, good wifi, lovely breakfast .... what more could you want. Not hotel standard but then a BB price and well above that in quality. Certainly recommended.

I was looking for something closer to Temple Bar, but everything was sold out. I was pleasantly surprised with the area of Waterloo Lodge. A few good pubs on Baggot, and a Tesco for odds and ends, and then only a 15 minute walk to Stephen's Green. The staff was really helpful explaining the bus to get into town, wrote the route on the map, and I was set. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

It was so lovely! The staff are so friendly and our room was so clean, comfortable and quiet. We stayed in one of their cabins and it was so cute. We were only there for two nights, but it was still perfect for what we wanted. It wasn't far from the city centre either which made it even better.

Very impressed with Waterloo Lodge! The receptionists were incredibly helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed including a decent hairdryer, iron and ironing board. While it's a bit of a walk to the city centre, there were lots of bars and eateries close by if you didn't want to venture too far and buses were very regular. Would definitely recommend Searson's! Having said this, we walked into the city everyday of our 4 day stay and it wasn't too bad. Perhaps a bit far to walk if you're heading to the zoo, jail or Guinness Storehouse though! Throughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

The bed / mattress / duvet were very old and very poor quality. The en-suite shower was possibly from the 1970s and made a very worrying sound when using it.

Locale wise it was very good in the south side of the city with lots of shops / bars / eateries nearby.

Great staff, but the mattress on the bed was past it's best and the Wi-Fi on upper levels of hotel was patchy and required repeater modem to be reset regularly. Nearby Waterloo pub excellent for food and drink!

I was on a business trip to Dublin that required staying overnight. This hotel was fine for this purpose. It is basic but comfortable. The staff are polite and efficient. The front rooms face the street.If you don't like the sound of traffic try requesting one of the back rooms. A brisk walk would get you into the city centre or Ballsbridge. There are buses available close by.

A small hotel or medium guesthouse, whichever, this lovely town house is in a great location. Walking distance to the RDS and five minutes stroll to the excellent Searsons bar. Good full Irish breakfast served by friendly staff. Room and bathroom were spacious and clean. We will stay here again.

Very average place, maybe better. Certainly not bad at all. It's a small environment, which makes it easy to get to know the staff. I was only there for 3 days, but we got to be on amiable terms. The room was a normal size, enough room to move. The complimentary tea and coffee was nice. Couple of issues: the bathroom wasn't the best. It was kind of small, and a little old-looking. It wasn't really that dirty, but it looked like it was. Also, the elevators were out of order, so it wasn't fun lugging my two suitcases up two flights of steps. The breakfast options are very limited. You either choose continental, which is a VERY small buffet, or the Irish breakfast, which is better, but the same thing every morning. If you're only there for a night or two, go with the Irish breakfast. The neighborhood was great - lots of major places to visit are within a 30 minute walk, or a 10 minute bus ride. Walking is good when the weather is nice - plus, if you go to the city centre, everything is along the way.

Happy with my stay. Pros - Staff were friendly and welcoming. My room was basic, but clean confortable and quite. Good flatscreen TV on wall. Good effort made by staff in the breakfast room, tables are very well presented. Very good cooked breakfast. Cons - Breakfast times are 7:30am for the continental, and 8:00am if you want a cooked breakfast. I would have liked if cooked breakfast was available earlier. I stay in a lot of hotels around Dublin as I have to travel to Dublin for my job. Overall I was ver happy with my stay and would stay there again. Good value for the proce I got.

GOOD VALUE IN A GREAT LOCATION

The location of this hotel is great, just a very short walk from Baggot Street, with shops, pubs and restaurants, and on a number of bus routes. There is limited off street parking as well. The staff could not be more welcoming and efficient. Breakfast was really good and was served in a bright and comfortable breakfast room. The bedroom had a good en suite with a strong, hot shower. The room was an unusual shape but was fine, with a comfortable bed, tea/coffee making facilities and LCD TV. It was warm without being stifling, and the window opened - not always a given. Some people like carpet in their hotel bedroom, but I have stayed in too many places where carpets have been worn or stained, whereas the Waterloo Lodge bedroom I stayed in had a laminate wooden floor.
The hotel lacks any 'ground floor' facilities, like a bar, cafe or lounge, so in that sense it is more a guest house. The lift was out of order and I was at the top of the house, not a problem for me but would not have suited anyone with mobility issues. Overall, good value in a great location.

Not worth it

The so called double room should never be called double room, it was a simple get room with double bed and hardly leaves any space to walk. If you are staying for more than one day you will probably will have to carry your own tea/coffee as they do not refill tea/coffee. Will also does not work consistently. Not at all worth the money that I had paid for 2 nights.

Very nice/helpful staff. Tasty breakfast. Room and BR were small but adequate. Small shower/no tub. Would have preferred more TV stations (more SKY Sports selections). Very reasonably priced and clean. Be aware there is some construction going on (adding rooms I believe). The parking area is slightly larger than Glenogra, where I stayed last year. I would recommend this B&B.

Hotel and room very clean. Got a good nights sleep. I stayed in the hotel with my 72 year old mother. The lift was not working so we had a bit of a trek to our room. The reception staff were less than helpful and not very welcoming. We were asked about the type of breakfast we wanted the next day ie continental or cooked. Next morning a cooked breakfast was delivered whilst we were still eating our cereal. The hotel was basic no frills but comfortable. Would return but only if the price was right!
