Waterloo Townhouse and Suites has a very cozy and comforting feel to it. We were easily able to walk to Baggot Street for dining options. We were also close to many of the sites of Dublin, including the Book of Kells Exhibit and St. Stephen's Park.

Ticked all the boxes for us. We could safely park outside and leave the car during our stay. The centre of Dublin was walkable, or it was easy to catch a bus. Lots of places to eat just in the next road. Our room was at the back and we found it a bit too small and stuffy even with the window open. A fan was provided. The room was very clean and well serviced.

Staff great. Location great. Place v nice and comfortable. However my room was beside a boiler or furnace and was making noise to late in the night. So couldn’t sleep. Also there was a blood stain on my pillow. The linen was clean but just stained. I contacted the hotel to let them know about 4 days ago but they didn't respond

What a charming little property. Very quiet neighborhood. Cafe and restaurant nearby. All the amenities were provided. King bed, fan, coffee and tea kettle, fridge, and nice bathroom.

The room was lovely. We were concerned about the small bathroom from the pictures online but it was very nice and easy to get ready. No breakfast place was open when we left, so some grab and go rolls would have been nice. The coffee machine was great. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

We spent nearly a week in this restored Georgian townhouse which has been converted into a lovely small hotel. It's situated in a quiet, mostly residential neighborhood just a short walk from Dublin's main tourist areas. The room was charming, as well as very comfortable and well appointed, and the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The breakfasts, served in a conservatory overlooking the back garden, were varied and delicious.
There are several very nice restaurants within a block or two as well as a grocery and pharmacy. We were extremely happy there. We would highly recommend it if you'd prefer to be out of the hustle and bustle of central Dublin.

Best B&B I've stayed in.

The property was excellent, well maintained and comfortable. Well situated for bars and restaurants and for the Aviva and RDS if heading to a concert. If there early enough the on site parking is a great extra. However can be expensive if staying for more than one night.

Quiet area with plenty of restaurants a short distance away. However, with no ventilation system, combined with a hot radiator that was impossible to turn off, sleeping with a open window became necessity, and due to traffic, it was difficult to get a good nights sleep. The shower was leaking/dripping the first night, it was fixed the next day, but this is something that housekeeping should have noticed and dealt with. Electrical socket in bathroom did not work.

Staff was friendly and helpful, and breakfast was good.

I recently stayed at Waterloo house with my s.o for a weekend in Dublin, the room was very cosy and tastefully decorated keeping the period of the house in mind. The lounge area near the front door is very quiet and clean, very nice to relax after a day out. The staff were absolutely wonderful the lady who checked us in made sure to go the extra mile to ensure our stay was comfortable. Not a bad thing to say about the property and will definitely be staying agai in the future

The stuff was very helpful when I asked for a second duvet as the one I had wasn’t warm enough. The duvet was given without a cover so released how much used it was (with marks from cigarettes e.g.) which wasn’t nice to look at (I noticed only in the daytime.
The running water has a very unpleasant taste (even when brushing teeth) but I gues it’s nothing to do with the property.
It is located in a quiet street which is great compared to drying more central.

Unfortunately, the hotel did not live up to the descriptions given by other guests and in terms of facilities and services does not appear to warrant a 4-star rating.
The room was clean but very small and with very dated with worn furniture. There were no spare pillows and the bed was poorly prepared with an undersheet that was not fitted and was too small for the bed, exposing the mattress cover. There was no desk. The heating was difficult to adjust ( we are familiar with central heating). The staff were welcoming and breakfast sufficient. However, the room did not compare favourably on decor or price with other similar etsablishments in the area.

Good location and value

We absolutely loved our stay at the Waterloo House. The rooms were average hotel size and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had breakfast included in our stay and it was fantastic! The dining room is in a beautiful sun room in the garden. The hotel is about a mile walk to tourist attractions. If I ever go back to Dublin I will be staying here again.

Loved the proximity to Baggot St. with anything you'd need only a block away. The walk to city center was only 25-30min.

The staff were also very helpful and accommodating to my late request to stay an additional night.

The hotel is a well-kept Georgian style building. Due to a mix-up, the original room wasn't available but we were upgraded to a beautiful room with classic styling and a fireplace. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the hotel is conveniently located, on the bus line and close to shopping and dining. The price was reasonable and we are likely to go back there again.

Waterloo House is, overall, a good stay. It is located outside the centre of Dublin, a taxi ride to the hotel from the airport and back will cost you about 25 - 35 Euro each way, depending on traffic.
Your Expedia booking will not include breakfast as the lady receptionist will tell you when you arrive. Additionally, she will tell you that they do not preemptively charge your credit card so you will have to show it again when you get there. A word of warning. The breakfast runs at 10 Euros and there is lots of variety. I would recommend that you only choose the full Irish breakfast if you are really, really hungry.
The hotel is perhaps 50 yards from a busier road with many restaurants and a couple of pubs. We were there on a Saturday night and went to the Searson pub for dinner. The decibel volume was high to say the least. It is full of character, obviously popular, but the food was quite bland.

Worst Hotel Ever! Unsafe!

Twelve steps from street to door with no help offered. Room was wedged between elevator and laundry on ground floor. No ventilation, no A/C, and windows were painted shut. There were bars on the windows and chairs in the hallway blocking the fire exit. No instructions on the use of the phone. Totally unsafe! No one on duty in the lobby for assistance. Rang the bell at the front desk with no response. Went out the front door (proping the door with a pillow, as I didn't trust my keycard) and rang the clerk on duty. He arrived from someplace else in the building where he had been sleeping. Couldn't understand him due to thick Eastern European accent. Asked to be moved to another room and he said he couldn't help me, I had to speak with the owner in the AM. Went back to the room after contemplating sleeping in the lobby, but decided that wasn't safe. Found mold growing in the shower and the bottled water was literally water in a glass bottle with a rubber stopper. Owner later told me they wash the bottles and fill with purified drinking water. My concern was the stopper, as they don't wash them regularly. When I complained to the owner about the fire trap room I was given, she offered me a cup of coffee, as if it would resolve my issues. I had booked the room for two nites, but wanted out and a refund. Owner said the room was difficult to book and claimed she'll give me a refund. We'll see! Moved to the Morrison Hotel where I was treated like a VIP.

My mom and I shared a room at Waterloo House. The staff were very kind, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast in the garden patio was the best part. Rooms are a little on the small side, maybe a little cramped for two ppl. Though, we were Within walking distance to just about everything.

This hotel is a gem. The staff was great; the double room was large and cleaned every day. The area is quiet, yet close enough for restaurants and a 15 walk to the center of Dublin. Bus stops are a 1 minute walk. Breakfast was not included, however for an additional €10 it can be added. The breakfast was excellent and situated in the garden. I highly recommend this hotel

B&B comfort in a proper hotel

Excellent location in Ballsbridge near Baggot street for easy access into town, though has all that is needed nearby, including a petrol station.

There is free parking in front of the building and can hold around 8 cars.

The staff are very nice and professional. Check-in was very easy. We liked the early check in time at noon, and our room was even ready!

Breakfast in the garden room is very nice. The food was great.

The room is small, but satisfactory. There's enough room for 2 people. The bed was a double, and was fine. Our room faced Waterloo road and even with the window opened, we weren't bothered by outside noises. Inside, however, can be a bit noisy depending on how fellow guests treat their room door or the front door.

Overall this place was extremely nice and would definitely warrant consideration upon a return trip.

The Waterloo House was ideally suited to our two night stay in Dublin. It is located within walking distance (for most) to the St. Stephen's Green and Temple Bar areas, yet outside of the busy traffic area. Free on site parking made this a benefit. Breakfast was good. As it is a former residence we expected 'older' rooms but this did not distract from a good stay. Staff were quite helpful too.

location was disappointing as it was not in the centre of Dublin to reach the centre you have to walk 25 minutes. Air conditioner was regulated. The price for this hotel is expensive being not centrally located.

We could walk into the main sites no problem and there was free parking. All the downtown hotels did not have free parking. You could book with or without breakfast. The hotel is Georgian stile with the beautiful furnishing in the same style. We were staying in December , the heating was available at any temperature. Rooms are huge and very clean.

Dublin hotel rates were high over the w/e, so we chose the Waterloo as it seemed the most reasonable in price (159 euro). Also, my partner is French, so I felt he would appreciate staying in Waterloo House, Waterloo Road!
Room and bathroom were comfortable and clean, but all a little old fashioned. King size bed with good pillows, which was a change from the hard pillows in other, higher rated hotels we stayed in during the week.

There are lovely walks along the canal and easy access to St Stephens Green and the Medieval Quarter. The breakfast was an added bonus at no additional charge with ample options. We would return to Waterloo Hotel again if in Dublin.

Delightful staff but limitations of the property

Efficient and friendly check-in. Room rather small with no room for beside table on one side of double bed. Additional child's bed provided as requested. Cleanliness good. Bathroom disappointing with old decor with differing era schemes on wall/door paint, wall tiles and floor tiles. Plenty of towels, all clean and fresh. Shower turned out to be good although looked old. Fluorescent room light gives rather dull ambience. Mediocre reproduction brown furniture OK but uninspiring.
Main problem is lack of sound insulation of the rooms and noise and vibration from wooden stairs. The stairs noise may be particular to Room 30 but we had asked for a quite room. You'll be OK if you treat this as part of the Georgian character but you may be much at the mercy of the quietness of other guests and how light or heavy footed they are on the stairs.
Breakfast room, its service and the home made brown bread were the high point. Full Irish breakfast ingredients are at the salty end of the scale.
No bar.
Staff were the best feature but we were left wondering why a property that is mostly a guest house is included in a hotel listing. Friendly and efficient check-out.

The Waterloo House is set inside a lovely neighborhood in Ballsbridge. About a 3 min walk away there is a great strip of a few small eateries (several of them serving very healthy, fresh options) a grocery store, flower shop, banks and pubs. Directly across the street is Starbucks. It's about a 15 minute walk to city center. The area is fantastic, still bustling and vibrant but away from the tourist hustle. The hotel is an old Georgian era building so expect to hear your neighbors if they get up before you. The bathroom in my room was clean and basic. Over my 3 day stay I met several of the staff and they were very polite and helpful. Overall I had a great stay here but keep in mind this is a lovely converted house, not a fancy hotel.

The room was spacious and well appointed, the welcome lovely and friendly staff encountered throughout . Breakfast was truly excellent with huge choice and freshly made. We will be going back!

Happy Senior Citizen.

Very clean and comfortable with pleasant, helpful staff. Lovely and warm which is a big plus in November when I stayed for three nights. Great breakfast which set me up for the day. Location perfect for getting into city centre and Heuston Station by bus. Great restaurants and small supermarket close by. I would definately stay there again.

Wonderful experience!!

I stayed in this hotel on a trip to Ireland by myself. The neigborhood was quiet and pleasant, and a short walk to shops and restaurants. The hotel was an older building but very well maintained. The daytime front desk clerk David was enormously helpful and friendly. He provided me with a map of the city and showed me tourist attractions as well. He brought me down for breakfast on my first day there and chatted with me daily when I'd leave to go sight seeing. The owner, Evelyn, was equally as friendly and efficient when addressing any and all of my concerns. She recommended a wine bar down the street which I visited. The cleaning crew were punctual and efficient, and the breakfast served hot every morning was always delicious. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Dublin for any amount of time. What a wonderful experience!!

Wonderful Waterloo House1

When I booked into the Waterloo House I was tired and grumpy but I was immediately cheered up by the warm and friendly welcome from David.The location is beautiful, the room really comfortable and the staff lovely. The breakfast was fabulous. Look forward to staying again for a bit of relaxation.
