Excellent stay, very comfortable, spacious and clean rooms and hotel all round with a very friendly and helpful welcome. Restaurant is a great choice for good quality food and big portion sizes. Outdoor bar and seating area with great views is a bonus and a perfect place for relaxing on a sunny day. Great transport links to Dublin and further south with the DART only a 5 min walk away. Safe and welcoming location.

Booked this hotel as it was near where we were attending a family christening. Good communication from the hotel. But, they are undergoing refurbishment to all the sea view rooms, it didn't really detract from our stay though. The hotel does look dated and tatty from the outside but once inside it's very nice. Good friendly attentive staff. Would imagine that when it's refurb is finished it'll be a jewel along the seafront in Dun Laoghaire.

It would have been nice to know before we booked that renovations to the hotel were happening during our day. As it was, we could not have a room with a view over the bay, and the workmen started hammering at 8am on our first morning.
The TV was tiny and fixed high up in the corner of the room and could not be seen clearly. Also, the TV reception was via aerial and was intermittent and very poor with limited options for channels.
I tried to use the room telephone to contact Reception to ask for a fan, but it did not work so I went down to the front desk.
There was no lock on the bathroom door.
The wardrobe was old and not fit for purpose eg the bottom shelf fell off because it did not have four props to hold it in place, and the rail for hanging clothes was from back to front instead of from side to side.
Summary
Wonderful location and staff, but a very 'tired' hotel. Certainly not good value for money given that it cost £374.53 (€431.98) for a double room only (no breakfast).

From start to finish, our stay at Haddington House was exceptional. The staff were incredibly warm, professional, and always willing to help—true hospitality at its best. The hotel was spotless, with a calm, elegant atmosphere and tasteful decor throughout.
The view of the Irish Sea only adds to its charm. Bonus that it’s walking distance from Forty Foot, a popular spot for locals to take a daily dip in the sea.

Area was clean. They seem to care more about the restaurant attached to the hotel than the actual hotel itself. The hotel is under renovation but did not take away from the cleanliness of the hotel. Staff was great except for one cameriera who became very rude because of a language barrier.

The staff at Haddington House were amazing! They gave great recommendations of places to see, and helped me figure out public transportation in the area. And they were all so so so kind! The location was also very convenient. Within walking distance of a lot of shops, but also close to bus stops for the longer treks.

Our first introduction to Ireland. A perfect location. Views of the harbour and close to cafes and shops. A 20 minute train ride into the heart of Dublin city. About a 5 minute walk to the train station. The Hotel is beautiful with SO much character and welcoming charm. The staff are very efficient and helpful. This is an older style hotel with much history but also with modern facilities. We stayed for 4 nights and were just a little bit sad to leave. A very big yes to anyone thinking of staying there.

My stay was basic, the room was close to the lift very noisy, you could hear chatters and doors slamming. I was not able to rest after a long flight. Room was musty and outdated. Staff were not friendly, when we asked for a room change we were told that they were fully booked. Location was great for shopping. I would not recommend.

My only issue with the stay was that the hotel was inaccurately described on Hotels.com as having a pool, so we planned to have a swim on the morning before checking out. This wasn't the hotel's fault, and it's probably the only time in many years of using Hotel.com that I've ever had an issue with a listing. However, the price I paid did reflect my belief that it had a pool.
Having said that, the hotel was in an ideal place for our visit, the staff were lovely, and the room was one of the best we've stayed in for a long time, in terms of cleanliness and comfort (though the shower temperature did fluctuate). Overall, we really liked the place.

I cannot sing enough praises about Haddington House! It is the loveliest hotel that I have ever stayed in! I have stayed in 4 and 5 star resorts and Haddington House does not have all of those resort amenities like a water park, a fitness center, or a casino. BUT it is a beautifully and uniquely designed hotel with a very fascinating history. The entire hotel is immaculate and it is truly a work of art. It’s a small boutique hotel which provides an intimate, quiet experience. It’s across from Dun Laoghaire Harbor so it is very safe, very quiet, and very peaceful.

Beautiful area and beautiful hotel! Upon arrival the guest services was lovely, she recommended we see their restaurant for a meal as we arrived late. The staff at the restaurant were accommodating to my husbands dietary restrictions. Our room was excellent, clean and spacious. The ability to purchase some of the products we used was wonderful as it was our first visit to Ireland. Now we can take home a piece of Ireland with us. Would stay again. Beautiful accommodations and area. 3 minutes from the beach!

My sister, husband & I stayed one night. No issues. Didn’t have the breakfast or evening meal. Very comfortable. Only thing was they charged us again about an hour after I paid on the same card. Exceptional service, and lovely hotel. Free on site parking, which was very convenient and a great amenity to have, especially in that area. The only negative I have, is that the heat was on very high in the room, and it was uncomfortable. I tried to turn it down / off, but it remained hot for a long time. I had to leave the window open all night. Everything else was excellent.

This was an amazing hotel on the southern shore of the Dublin metro area and we were so glad we had a sea-view room and stayed for two days so we could really enjoy this view and the area after the day was done! Other than a delay to check in as the room wasn’t quite ready yet, we experienced top-notch service in both the hotel and the restaurant! Parking was hard to find but once we got settled in a space we were able to take the train into the city or walk around the local area enjoying the pier. The pier has a fish n chips stand as well as a coffee and hot chocolate bar so there are plenty of snacky options as well. We were very comfortable and wish we could have stayed longer but we had other cities to visit! Highly recommend!!

Four nights. Loved the location on the waterfront. Easy walk to wonderful local shops and to DART train easy into the heart of Dublin without hassle of driving and parking in Dublin.

From the moment you walk into the Haddington House Hotel you enter a plush, beautifully presented place to stay. The decor is a mix of William Morris wallpaper and colourful pieces of gorgeous and inviting sofas and chairs.
The reception team were wonderful - friendly and cheerful.

The resort was also a delight - plenty of great eating places - 400m up the seafront is The Peoples Park which has a wonderful cafe / restaurant - highly recommend breakfast there.

Haddington House is a step back in time to old Dun Laoghaire. From the lounge area down stairs to the individual rooms and the classical music station on arrival. It was definitely well appreciated after our 30 long haul flight.

The property has a fantastic view and is directly in front of the open sea. Beautiful peer to walk along. But it is far from the city center of Dublin. Take the Dart $3.80 one way which we used every day as it was very close. The staff Sinead, Emma, Honey at the front desk are very friendly and helpful in every way. The lounge is fantastic with Fernando and Sofia are excellent. The dinning are is quaint and always busy so make reservation ahead of the time. If you love the sea view this is the place for you. Note the rooms are smaller than in Canada but cannot complain. They all gave us a great experience of Ireland. Thanks to all.
