The hotel itself is excellent. The sink in our room was cracked, which was a tiny bit disappointing. Facilities were excellent, as was breakfast. Swimming lessons were on in the pool which meant only 1 lane and half of the open section were available to use. We did have to call down for towels for the third person. FYI swimming hats are compulsory and are €3 to buy at the pool. If this was advertised when the hotel is booked that would be great. Comms in advance weren’t great- I messaged 3 times using the Expedia messaging system and not one reply. Excellent stay- will be back, just a few tiny tweaks to make it 100% from me.

Location, property & design are all top notch! The staff throughout the stay from housekeeping, front desk & in the bar/restaurant were amazing. My only issues were the stuffiness of the room, no way to cool it down & found a stain on the sheets though that was instantly rectified by staff

The customer service was brilliant from the moment we arrived. The self check-in was easy and the room was clean and well equipped. Broadband was fast. Over our stay we had breakfast lunch and dinner and all were of a high standard and presented good value for money. Bar is well stocked and not expensive. Great place and look forward to our next visit.

Odd experience. I paid the extra charge for an upgrade to an Executive room and when we got to the room it seemed like a standard room. I spoke with reception and they confirmed that I was in a standard room as no available Executive room was available. If I hadn’t inquired I would have paid for an upgrade without receiving one.

The hotel was very nice but I paid more for a family room which was supposed to have 3 beds for the 3 of us but even after messaging and talking to the hotel the only thing they were able to do was send us a trundle which was for a child.

Hotel looked soo much better than it did in the pictures I think it might have been done up very recently.

The entrance is very nice we got a real sense of arrival.

The bar area was very nice to sit in they had a good selection and the pints were really fresh.

We had dinner at the hotel the first night and it one of the best meals I had the whole trip and came out in good time.

The rooms were bigger than expected and housekeeping would come in later which gave us time for a lie in.

The whole place was very clean

The spa and pool was very good and well run I found it strange that we had to wear shower caps when we went out into the pool apparently this is the law in Ireland. The hotel sells them for £3 though which is fairly reasonable.

Overall very nice hotel we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back.

Didnt go for breakfast or the dinner offer that came online €80 for 4 because despite 2 phonecalls and at check in no one could tell me if 1adult and three 16year old kids (my daughter and 2 friends) could avail of offer.
Also for breakfast couldnt tell me if 16 year olds are kids or adults . Bar went to get food at 2.20 saw menu downstairs ,no body was interested in serving us then someone asked from the bar were we okay had said teenagers wanted pasta dishes and i would have curry but was told that was dinner and not available til 3.30pm. We had just arrived were going to a match and wanted to eat early and relax before going.
We went elsewhere to eat but very hard to get a dinner dish at that time by the looks of things . Very disappointed overall in food around the area.

I’ve found the service to be cold, the furniture uncomfortable, and the room to be too hot. I wouldn’t go back to this hotel brand or location again.

That being said, I can see why some folks would find it delightful, the room was quite large and the pool was a nice treat.

All in all not a winner for me.

Highlights were the helpful, courteous staff ( especially Aoife and Maria) and the dining opportunities. You could tell the pride the restaurant took their food quality, options, and serving attention to customers. The room was clean, the bed was a bit soft for my taste. We chose to use the stairs to exit the hotel because it was a bit twisty from the lobby to our floor. Don’t get a room over the alley because it can get loud at bar time. The location was convenient to public transportation. You will need to use it to get to the tourist sites and more restaurant options. There were pubs a half block away.

Very disappointed that the swimming pool is only open from 0800until 0830 at the weekend and then the pool is taken over by children's swimming lessons .
There is no consideration for guests who have paid good money to stay here ,specifically for the leisure facilities.

Customer service was great and breakfast was the same as it is everywhere…scrambled eggs,bacon, sausage, hash browns, fruit, toast, porridge gluten free options; pancakes and special eggs on request. Pancakes were so tough though could barely cut with a knife so we left them.
Location is a bit far from city center so we had to cab it to and from.

The checkin process was horrible. As well, preordered something for the room which wasn’t in the room, in addition when did provide the preorder items it was incorrect.

Cleaning wasn’t great - basically folded the same towels we used.

Checkout was a bit better but not as easy as other hotels I stayed at. For an Expedia VIP hotel didn’t get the silver member perk.

The Clayton Hotel was overall a decent hotel. We were disappointed that we were not informed ahead of time of the extensive construction on the hotel. We realize at times they have to be updated but disappointed we weren't given a heads up. Breakfast was decent and the rooms were large and well appointed. There is a walk to most things and dining establishments were at times a bit of a walk. Not too much in the immediate area. We would possibly stay again as for the most part it was a good hotel stay.

If I had known the property was under renovation, I would have picked another hotel. Getting into the hotel involved a long walk from the street with our suitcases. My wife has mobility issues. Why there is not a way to request a porter at the taxi stand is beyond me.

Then since the property wants to be \"green\", everyday we had to request more towels. It was not a very pleasant experience.

Great location, city centre only 15/20minute walk away. Plenty of selection for breakfast, friendly staff, pool, sauna, steam room and a hot tub, a nice bonus.

Currently building work in progress, which wasnt an issue but was not made aware prior to arrival. Also building work next door to the hotel again no issues with noise or anything.

Rooms are slightly dated, shower water pressure poor, due an upgrade but very clean, spacious and a comfy bed. No air con in the room, a fan is provided but not the best.

Overall great hotel, would stay again.
