This hostel is a bit more expensive than others in the area, but the individual pods were private and kept the noise to a minimum in the dorm, They do get hot but the hostel offers fans to use at no charge, although it takes up your only USB plug. The ladder for the top bunk was tough to use, and I almost fell a couple times. Bed is more comfortable than other hostels. There is a 13 euro buffet breakfast which looked good with lots of options, but no kitchen in the hostel, and their common space is next to the bar area and is very loud and busy. There is a chillout room which has a kettle and microwave, but it is a windowless room with a few tables. Paid laundry and luggage storage on-site. They do have bed-assigned lockers in the dorms that are electronic combination, which is convenient. The staff are hit and miss - if you are nice to them they are nice to you, but they often look worn out and frustrated. The bar downstairs was very popular in the evenings with the younger crowd singing karaoke.

Stayed over for the night due to an early morning flight and needed somewhere within a budget. It was good for what the price was! Very nice and would certainly do it again.
Staff at the desk were meh.. don’t really like to comment on people but the help wasn’t as great they seemed more laid back and wanted to enjoy music playing during the night then helping with locker and room issues but other then that it was good

We were beat after overnight flight to Dublin. Staff helped us find a nearby car park and was available for any and all questions. Room was clean and quiet. Just the place to get our feet back under us before we began our road trip. Also very centrally located - we walked all over central Dublin.

There’s a bar crawl meet up in the bar downstairs nightly. I didn’t join, but my roommates really enjoyed it! Fantastic hostel! If you’re opposed to loud music I do not recommend on the weekend as they do live music in the bar downstairs.

Upon entering, great first impressions were made. The reception staff were so lovely and the restaurant/bar area was spacious and captivating. I noticed a poster for a group pub crawl which I thought was a brilliant idea (I already had plans so was unable to attend it though). The room exceeded expectations. My individual pod had more than enough room, charging station, a shelf and a hook. The bed was comfy, and there was a locker where I could securely leave my belongings. The only minor flaw I had with my whole stay, was that the pillow was too thin, they may have gave an extra if I asked so that is nothing against the hostel. I definitely intend to return and would recommend to anyone seeking a conveniently situated stay with a good atmosphere.

Felt only negatives were showers and taps which turn off water every 10 seconds. Apparently this is to save water but there’s much better ways like maybe having it turn off for a minute after 3 mins of use. It ends up being super frustrating and you can hear others in your pod and those next door banging taps every 2 seconds to get water going. Have to pay for towels taken every day.

Also there’s no pool table and the social area besides the bar is actually very small. Not super social hostel, not for younger vibe I would say.

Overall the room, pods are clean and bathroom is reasonably clean.

Note that it’s not the safest area outside of the hostel itself, walk towards direction of main city if going out. Hostel itself secure.

Very clean, helpful, friendly staff. Pods are clean and pretty comfortable. Connolly station is just around the corner. O'Connell street is a ten minute walk. Pods and entrances to any area are secured by key codes. Can't speak on the food, wanted to try actual pubs/restaurants. Reception can get busy, but they are attentive. Mix of young/older ppl. Not a youth hostel. Lockers in the room to store your stuff, you set your own code.
I'd definitely recommend if your a budget traveler.
It is a noisy area, trains/luas go past. Not good for a light sleeper.

The dorm room I was in had a lot of wasted space. One whole area had a full length mirror and nothing else which could have been put to use as a second bathroom - 10 ladies and 1 toilet is not a good design or a couple of chairs! There were 2 sinks in the bathroom which would have made more sense to have outside on the wall across from the pods as that was wide open OR used taller lockers (gym type) against the wall instead of the small ones under the bed.

Such a cool space with tons of security features. You need a code to get basically anywhere. The \"board game night\" was a lot less mediated than I thought it'd be. There were basically just a few games on a shelf and it was up to us to get anything started. Still, I met great people! Though this was my first hostel, I bet there are more social hostels out there. Not a problem though! The pod itself was roomy enough, and the two lighting options within were appreciated. The shower turning off every 15 seconds definitely discourages you from staying in there too long, but is pretty inconvenient. Overall, I would definitely return!

First good things and mostky what I look for in a hostel: The bed was ok. Bathroom clean.

Chill out room was horrible. Smelled horrible and not clean, no paper towels/tissues, nothing.
They charge for the luggage room if you arrive early and it is a good amount so I would suggest reserving a separate luggage storage place for that.
The check in system is inefficient (yes, it is computers), when I checked in, two staff members were there and although there was a queue for the computers, they did not help which defeats the purpose of having two people at the reception. Had to wait for 15 minutes just to check in. And of course they proceeded in talking with their 'friends' thereafter.
Asked for earplugs for two nights in a row (which they mentioned will be available for free) and guess what? They were out.

Room needs more amenities as no tv provided and very very basic not hotel standard as it’s also doesn’t have fridge or kettle for hot drink, double rooms are at hostel standard but charge hotel price, just go for pods if staying as you won’t get much for double or twin rooms! Only a one night stay place for quick stop for sleep ! Staff are very rush rush not best hospitality not many please or thank you very bossy , basically hostel not hotel!

Unaware that my electoral ID was not classed as valid so had to seek help from Garda Station right beside us, even the officer on duty seemed annoyed as it has my face and name on this ID.

No TV in room and areas for socialising in hostel closed too early not much of a nightlife etc which was disappointing.

Expected more food variety and places to eat inside not takeaway which we couldn't even have in the room. All drinks also banned from having in the room, otherwise it was fine as long as you don't plan to have a night in and relax.

Map at reception not worth a look at either as doesn't give much area information for close to you other than street names which was hard to read sober

A nice clean hostel, and good option for staying in Dublin. The pods were nice and the room was clean. The bathroom was very spacious. However, the water in the sinks and shower only ran for about 10-15 seconds. It made it excessively difficult to take a shower. You had to either hold the shower knob down, or press it literally every 5-10 seconds. The location of the hostel was ok, the area was a little dodgy. Definitely a lot of homeless wandering in that area. It did have very close train/tram stations. Pretty easy walk into the main parts of the city too. You also had to pay quite a bit for luggage storage on early arrival/late departure. I had to pay over 5 euros for about an hour and a half of storage. Majority of hostels I’ve stayed in have had free storage rooms. There were certainly some noisy crowds within the hostel, but thankfully my room was pretty quiet. Overall pretty solid hostel option for Dublin, definitely better than some of the others in the area.

The property is great. My issues were what one expects when going to a hostel, namely others snoring and keeping me awake.
The front staff were incredibly helpful, helping me to book tours. Shout out to the gentleman who helped me book the Sheep Dog presentation. Fantastic.
I really wish I had planned this trip better. I needed more time in Dublin.
Latroupe has become my go to for my next trip.

This was my first time experiencing a Hostel. The property was clean. The staff was helpful. They even emailed me that I left my eyeglasses there. The one thing that made me uncomfortable was that they chose to place me, a woman traveling alone, in a room with two men. To be fair, they were great gentlemen. The only thing that drove me crazy was the snoring. It wasn’t the actual bunk mates. It was the thought process of not putting me in a room with at least one other woman or putting a woman in the room with me.

My first experience of a hostel. The whole place was clean and tidy. Buffet breakfast was quite limited. Bread, eggs, sausages and hash browns. No bacon, black pudding or white pudding (something that Ireland appears to be famous for).
My only complaint comes with the people who were in my room. One of whom had set an alarm each morning and they either continued to sleep through it or had left their phone in the pod while they were in the toilet.
Staff were very polite and very helpful when needed.

If you visit in the summer be prepared for the heat. The windows don’t open much and it was hot in the room. They put a small table top fan in the 10 bunk room as if it did anything much. Can’t sleep with the bunk curtain closed as you’ll just burn up. Crazy to not have any sort of A/C in the rooms.

The train station and Garda stations are both across the street so there is a decent amount of noise if you aren't an early riser. Be sure to ask for earplugs. The facilities are modern, clean and the private rooms are spacious for the price! The breakfast in the morning is complementary and helps fill your belly before a day in Dublin.

Very nice and helpful brazilian Guy called Williams on the reception desk was amazing. Very helpful, efficient and calm with all the details and check in process. So nice to be welcomed with calm energy.

The rooms are clean and have all you need. My only issue is the damaged tile floor in the bathroom and better ventilation for the pods when so hot. So another window that opens or air con.

I was only in Dublin for a very brief stay, and chose the Jacobs Inn because of its proximity to public transport and multiple options for dead-of-night airport rides.

I didn’t get the chance to really interact or hang out with anyone because I was only in Dublin for ~34 hours (half of which being sleep), but the location seemed to draw a great mix of folks from all over. There was plenty of activity at the bar as well as a few events organized. I didn’t partake, but there seemed to be plenty of options at breakfast.

Staff was very friendly and made for a smooth check-in process. They were available for any questions, and the cleaning crew was on their game. While not entirely uncommon, it is important to know that towels are not included and come at a cost of €2.50 (with free replacements).

The facility itself was clean and well organized, and I found the sleep pods to be as well-appointed as a sleep pod could be (a shelf, multiple lighting options, and a couple usb-a ports. There was a locker and a cubby directly underneath my pod, power outlets nearby, and a full en-suite bathroom (with full gendered facilities down the hall).

I don’t always stay in hostels, but would absolutely give future consideration to the Jacobs Inn.

I stayed in a mixed 10 bed pod from, all was fine, as expected.
The ensuite was an added extra not that I managed to get in there because it was always in use as expected when sharing with 9 other people. This was fine, there are shared bathrooms on each floor and they have two loos, four or five showers and sinks.
Its a great location for Dublin and the bar, chill areas were good too.

A bit nervous sleeping in a dorm, being not in my 20s anymore, but the pods made it very private and a great cheap option for visiting Dublin. Only downfloor to the pod was that it only had two USB-A ports. No USB-C or plug to charge your devices. However there was plugs by the lockers, but it meant your phone wasn't secure when charging. Also 1 pillow was a bit of a nightmare for me. I had zero issues though and staff were really friendly. Highly recommended hostel, even for those not in their prime anymore.

This was the first hostel I have ever stayed at, and definitely put them in a good light for me.

This hostel is better than most others because instead of bunks, you have your own cubby. It's in a good location in the city to be near plenty of things to do, as well as the bus station.

The staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast was fantastic for an all you can eat buffet.

We stayed in a private twin. It was great other than the loud train. The most comfortable beds, clean rooms, the staff was helpful. We felt safe there. The only thing is we noticed the doors didn’t close all the way sometimes and you need to give it a good tug to ensure it was shut. Also for the private rooms we would’ve preferred some amenities like a hair dryer or tv but we would totally stay here again!

The room was facing the metro line for which they were excavating all night long. This meant extremely loud noises directly into our room all night; even with the window closed. They charged us when we arrived even though we had already paid through Expedia. The pillows offered are essentially non existent. We had better luck laying on our shoulders which is what ended up happening. The blankets are a meter wide if that. Staff didn’t seem to know anything, only get paid to sit at the front desk. We booked a private room to sleep comfortably and did not sleep a wink. It was also boiling hot in the room but we obviously couldn’t open the window because the noise. PLEASE do not listen to the good reviews and if you want sleep go somewhere else. This is probably a great spot for someone in their early 20’s who gets wasted and sleeps through everything.

My stay at Jacobs Inn was okay. I stayed in a 10 person pod. There is only one bathroom in the room for all 10 people. No additional bathroom for women on this floor. The air circulation is absolutely terrible, 4 of the 10 of (myself included) were coughing our brains out. The shower turns off after 15 seconds. The location is great however, very close to transportation. I did feel very safe staying there. The front desk staff was wonderful. There is no changing of sheets until you leave. I did not try the breakfast buffet but it did look good in the cafe.

Great location and really modern capsule hostel.
Really friendly service from staff and felt safe in the hostel with security on the door in the evenings and codes rather than keys.
Free, good WiFi and nice bar on site.
Unfortunately the beds in the capsules were really uncomfortable with a bad pillow, hard mattress and felt a bit tight for space. There also wasn’t a plug socket in the capsule either, only a USB slot. The lockers were spacious but had a bit of a confusing locking mechanism which needed resetting by staff. Quite dirty in the hostel dorm and showers smelt pretty grim. Lack of kitchen facilities too.
