My first stay in this hotel and my experience was superb. Warm, welcoming staff; spacious, very comfortable and clean bedroom with everything I needed. Cleaned thoroughly each day with real attention to detail. I didn't have breakfast but lunch in onsite restaurant was delicious. Warmly recommend.

Avoid. Horrendous stay.

I have never until now stayed in a room that had a 1.5 inch gap under the hotel room door. I felt incredibly unsafe that anyone could push something under the door such as a camera. On top of this the noise was horrendous. I heard everything from other guests moving through the corridor throughout the night. My room window was right about some of the mechanical systems and the noise coming through the closed window was like a constant drone. On top of that, the room or corridor above my room carried all their noise down to my room. The thumping of footfall, people shouting and drunk in the early hours and heavy footfall all early morning. I’ve never left a bad review for anywhere before, but this was appalling. I barely slept and felt like I was in some low rent hostel as opposed to a supposed 4 star hotel.
I left first thing to get away from the place.

Although the Hotel is located 30 minutes taxi ride from Dublin City Center it compensates its distance by offering not only excellent facilities but superb customer service all the way. We felt truly welcomed here. Professional and friendly service. the brasserie has a good choice of food and drinks and offers a professional and friendly service. My room was spacious, clean with comfortable bed and pillow.Highly recommended.

I don’t think I’ve ever really given a poor review, but I’m a bit cheesed off after staying at this hotel.
I did raise all issues upon check out, but was met with a bit of a ‘oh well’, which has led me here. 2 night business trip stay.

- mattresses are literally the most basic there is. Super uncomfortable.
- pillows are very basic 1” thick and well used.
- I had no hot water for 1 evening/1 morning (50% of stay). Turns out no one did, but no communication so stood there trying to run a shower for ages hoping it would get hot. It didn’t. Just slide a bit of paper under the door to let me know like any other hotel.
- breakfast is the cheapest, most basic quality food. It’s a buffet but served to you by a guy who literally threw it all on the plate in a big pile, massive inconvenience for him.
- raised issues on check out, especially about the water, and wasn’t even told it was a problem. I only knew from speaking to other guests at breakfast. Was met with a bit of a ‘oh well’.

The only good thing is the on site restaurant- really decent food! Must be independent from the breakfast. Food was great, good service and choice of beers.

Half hour car drive from the airport straight to the hotel. Check-in was swift and very easy to understand. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. A colleague of mine have specific dietary requirements and they accommodated this lovely venue very clean. 7 minute slow walk from Stillorgen village shops. Live music Saturday evening with Sam Earlwood who was excellent and really entertaining. Definitely a 5 star experience! I would recommend it to friends.

First time guest, friday night

We arrived and were greeted at reception by a very friendly staff member, check in was quick and we went straight to our room. The hotel looked busy with lots of people around the reception.

The room was clean but very warm when we went inside. The air conditioning worked very well to cool it down.

We went to the bar for a drink and the staff there were very friendly too.

We booked a local restaurant for dinner and asked reception to book a taxi for us. The taxi arrived a few minutes early but we were ready and waiting.

When we came back from Dinner we had a nightcap and there was a guy playing guitar in the bar. It was very entertaining.

Breakfast was busy but the food was lovely.

Check out was very efficient also.

The only downside for us was the shower and the flow of water from the head. It was very very poor, there are two settings on the raindrop head but both were as bad as each other.

Outdated hotel . The carpets ( in both rooms and hallways ) full of big stains and they must be replaced .
Rattling noise from AC unit and the vents from the AC were very filthy with debris falling into my bed . We had 2 rooms and in one of the rooms the water pressure was awful and scalding water . Also in one of the rooms the towel rack heater could not be turned off making the bathroom really hot . I asked the front desk if they could tell me how to turn it off and the lady was of no help. The price was reasonable but I wouldn’t recommend it.

The room was lovely and the kettle and iron were much appreciated but I couldn't close the window on the second night when the temperature outside dropped (only realised this once in bed so too late to call for assistance). Can't comment on the bar or restaurant but the location is convenient and the staff were lovely so would stay again if in the area.

Slowest check in I’ve experienced in yet. Air con in room was leaking water onto the carpet. Very awkward impractical shower. Could hear next door flushing the toilet all night pipes rattling etc. But the breakfast was delicious and had dairy milk alternatives which I don’t come across often in hotels.

Stayed overnight Room only. Plenty of parking space available. Location is approximately 15 minutes from city centre via taxi. Reasonable price for accommodation when compared to other hotels in Dublin. Reception area is nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom was clean big and spacious with all the necessary essentials. Carpet area in parts of the hall and lift was grubby and in need of a good clean. Didn’t eat in the hotel so can’t comment on that. Based on my experience I would stay in this hotel again purely for value for money compared to other Dublin hotels.

DONT PAY CAST ROOM 160

We were given room 160 ..booked online .my husband payed in cash .. not only was he subject to paying a 50 euro fee ? The staff that served was very pompous.... cash is king after all as the saying goes my husbands bank card was frozen due to issues anyway ... when i say we stay all over ireland on weekends we do ....this was by far the worst room ever!!!!!! 😫 flumpy blanket 1 flat pillow each ... walls stained bathroom was poor lose fixtures in bath ... press sloping that drawer comes out knocked my leg lovely brusied leg now ....tv not smart ..treated like ..i wont say never have we stayed in such a horrendous room before like this.....

This is a lovely hotel. We stayed for 6 nights while taking in a trip to Leopardstown races. Our room was spacious with a huge bed, hairdryer, iron and tea, coffee. Tje Brass restaurant serves quality food, piping hot and good portions. However the staff are the stars. Utterly delightful.

Great experience. We were in Dublin due to a family funeral. The 'afters' was at the Talbot and we booked bedrooms there as well to make all the transitions easier. Staff were wonderful and empathetic, allowed us to check in early to get ready for the services. Rooms were very comfortable, had everything we needed. Sunday carvery was very family oriented (you need to book though!), and breakfast/lunch/dinner options hit the mark. It's right across the road from Aircoach stop so easy to get to the airport when it was time to leave. Altogether it was perfect for our needs and on my list of hotels to check out when we're next in town.

Everything was good really in general.
Gr8 location, nice layout inside, parking super, staff in breakfast area and throughout most of the hotel were friendly.
Some of the bedlinen was not good. I flagged it they offered another room or to change bedlinen. A helpful staff member arrived up with some pillowslips so that was acceptable. The ventilation in the bathroom wasfclogged with fluff. Had paid for room onlinewbutcharged for the room (an extra 6 euros) so I paid it as I was too tired on arrival to realise I'd already paid in full. Checked my phone later realised I'd paid 2 different amounts twice so when flagged it I was told I should only have been charged for the booked breakfast for 3 (45 euros). So I was refunded the 2nd amount I'd paid minus the 45. Didn't get much of an apology but they did agree next day to allow an extra hour before checkout for free so I was happy enough sure that was handy.
Found one of tge barmen to be a little grumpy which really is not acceptable. Was only in tge bar once so I dunno if it's a regular thing.
Then, when I handed back the key cards the man on the front desk tried to charge me 50 euros for a deposit. I explained I'd paid in full online before I'd arrived and there was no mention of deposit. He checked again and I was right. It was very embarrassing discussing this at the front desk lot people around. He made no apology. Felt the front desk staff could have been a little more friendly and courteous to customers.

Bala is a gem. He is exceptionally courteous and helpful. This is my second stay at the Talbot this fall. I come here when visiting my daughter at UCD. This is certainly my go-to for a hotel. The location is perfect for campus visits. The hotel is immaculate, breakfast is fantastic and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend the Talbot for anyone visiting the South of Dublin, particularly UCD.

Never staying here again

I was woken at 23:50hrs by maintenance works being carried out adjacent to my room. I was promised by the hotel staff to get moved to another room but this didnt happen. The works continued for another 20 mins. My nights sleep was disturbed and I was unable to get back to sleep properly. In the morning hotel management refused to deal with the matter and referred me back to Hotels.com. Totally unacceptable

When it came to food, the first night dinner was most under whelming fish was undercooked as was the batter and the waiter's only answer was free tea or coffee!! Continental breakfast was little in choice and the fruit still half frozen. Suffice too say we ate elsewhere. Would highly recommend not staying here unless bed only

We chose to stay at this property as we were visiting friends and dining at a nearby restaurant. There was some initial confusion re our room as I had specifically requested (and paid for) an updated room with a larger bed. I also specified this when the hotel sent me an email prior to our stay. The email was clearly not viewed so I'm unsure as to why they send out such emails when the responses are not viewed. The breakfast was ok but it lacked finesse and the dining room is in bad need of updating. It is very tired looking. The bedroom (refurbished) was excellent and the bed was extremely comfortable. I recommend staying in one of the refurbished rooms as they are clean, modern and well equipped.

Expensive, but quite nice.

The hotel had excellent amenities such as the restaurant and the gym was great. However, it is outside of Dublin and for some reason the key kept demagnetizing this was particularly annoying because they gave me a room in the back of the building so i constantly found myself walking back and forward to the lobby on a daily basis. There is a shopping plaza nearby about 10 mins away which has everything you may need for a longer stay; pharmacy, groceries, McDonald’s!
