Nice hotel in a nice setting. The staff were all very courteous and friendly. The rooms are a bit tired with peeling paint and some mold in the shower. The dinner menu is a bit basic but overall the food was edible. The full Irish breakfast was missing the mushrooms and although I didn’t want eggs, no alternatives were offered. All I got was one rasher of bacon, one sausage, two pieces of hard black pudding ( no white pudding ) and a very charred and horrible fried tomato half. My wife got the French toast which she classed as just ok.

Looks attractive from outside but hides multitude of sins for the price. Surly staff. Arrived at 8:45, asked for any food and not even a measly sandwich on offer . Given the price this was atrocious. Really don't recommend as a place to stay. The outside is pretty and that is it. Barman was good. As for the so called legendary breakfast it was laughable, delivery was slow and rude.

I stayed one night at Summerhill House after completing a 3 day hike and preparing to head back to the states the following day. I had a comfortable, spacious room and throughly enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel. The employees were all very kind and helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Beautiful setting for this hotel, and the place itself is as well. Lot's of vintage charm, but modern where it counts. Food was great, and the staff were all fantastic - every single one of them. We loved our spacious room, and will definitely stay there again. My favorite interaction with staff: I asked when the pub opened - they said \"when you get back from your hike!\" I asked how late it stayed open, they said \"until you're done!\" Love that!

Character hotel in a great location and tries very hard to be luxury. Bistro menu is interesting, breakfast menu extensive. Probably the best time to enjoy the hotel is not a rainy night in Jan. I was unlucky room Tv was faulty, and staff could not fix, Shower was cold and lacked any power and breakfast eggs one was very under cooked. However it would not stop me trying this hotel again in Summer.

The room wasn't up to standard. The bathroom was in poor condition with peeling paint and rust stains in the bath. Overall, the room was in need of refurbishment. However, the public spaces were very nice, the staff very pleasant and helpful and the breakdast was really spectacular.

Staff was attentive. We ate both breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Good service. Ample choices of cold and hot items at breakfast. Summer House Hotel is very close to Powercourt Gardens so a great place to stay if that stop is on your itinerary.

Summer hill house was idyllic set in a cute town and walking distance to Powerscourt estate. Only disappointment was the transportation in and out of enniskerry (nothing against the property). The included breakfast is worth the price alone- absolutely fabulous. Staff are friendly and helpful. Gorgeous room, very spacious. Would stay here again!

Be careful how you book this booking!

Strange ending to an okay stay - do not recommend! My wife and I stayed at the property for 3 nights and overall, had a few things occurred. 1) They do not clean the room daily, which stinks if you are there for more than a night. 2) It was difficult to get items for our room. 3) BIGGEST ASPECT: They charged us for an extra night we did not stay! The front desk was incredibly difficult and claimed we had an extra night, even though we stayed/booked a night in Dublin for the night they charged us for. If my wife and I were not in such a rush, we would've stayed and fought it in person. Very unpleasant ending to this!

The hotel, wasn't cheap and I was told my room was across the courtyard in the Townhomes. This was a council house that was converted into hotel rooms. I would have stayed at home as it was a tiny room in a home where I couldn't hear everything from all the other guests. The shower was barely working. Not to mention there is a housing crisis in Ireland and hotels like this are buying government assistance homes and making huge profits from them.

Quaint main house lovely drive in - we stayed in small rooms to rear of main house they where dated freezing and not properly cleaned. The radiator in bathroom did not work was like an ice box. Small kitchenette but no kettle. Television was in small sitting area that was very uncomfortable and needs seriously updated. The upstairs residence returned in the early house of the morning (1.40)and we could hear their every move until they settled for night. Breakfast was cold when it arrived asked for it to be reheated but they simply forgot to bring it back then when it was replaced was cold - we where not the only people who where returning cold food. We should have requested a room change after first night and we informed the receptionist we where not happy with our stay and she was sorry - disappointing place.

Had an overnight stay. Was a bit disappointed. Reception was a bit disappointing. No personal touch. Room was lovely, but tissue on the floor and empty water bottle under the bed. Didn't use the restaurant for evening but had breakfast - it didn't disappoint. There was a wedding on while we were there and children were running up and down the bedroom corridors until the early hours of the morning.

Paying almost €200 for a family room but Couldn’t sleep at all. Reported to the staff 3 times but no results, it was very noisy night with parties until 4am. We had three children including a one year old. Worst night I ever had I will never stay there again nor I recommend to anyone else.

The hotel was great. Although one note, I used the bathmat on the shower for both my son and myself, placing in the tub before water was added, we both slipped on it, even though I tried not to after seeing him slip getting in. I ended up with a huge bruise on my knee. Maybe a different bathmat should be used? Other than that, staff was very courteous and helpful. We had to leave early for an appointment and they made sure our breakfast was cooked and brought out to is in great speed. The only reason I didn't state excellent on all accounts was that the neighbors sounded as if they were sharing the room with us and kept me awake well into the morning hours, not the hotels fault but does put a damper on the stay.

Gorgeous property, rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was good and we had one meal for dinner which was excellent as well. Our only issue was the WIFI. we spend 3 days there trying to get wifi. I asked at the reception when we checked in \"where is the best spot to get wifi\" the receptionist was a little abrubt and just said \"Wifi is DOWN\" I asked a chambermaid walking by and she said\" wifi is iffy as we are in the country\" every day we noticed people walking around holding laptops and phones-looking like a deer in the headlights trying to find wifi and asking everyone how to. The other issue we had was with one bartender the last evening before we left. We had had a great day touring Powerscourt castle and distillery and we came back we stopped into the pub for a drink (we were literally the only 6 people there) and the bartender completely ignored us. We stood at the bar trying to talk to him and order our drinks and he kept his head down. we were dumbfounded. He finally looked up to take our order and would not smile, hardly said 2 words. So we grabbed our drinks and sat at a table to get away from him. It put a damper on our day. The next young lad who came in to work was really great. We ordered food and ate in the pub. He was friendly and professional. The other guy should never be behind a pub bar in Ireland!!
Otherwise the hotel is lovely and in a beautiful quiet little village with plenty of parking.

The major issue was the lack of Wi_Fi, which had been advertised as present. We were in the courtyard area, and were told we wouldn't get it there, but would be able to in the main hotel. This was not the case. Our room was difficult to find, and one of our swipe cards didn't work. Once in the room, there were no cups for the tea/coffee, and no TV remote.
The staff were very helpful, and the breakfast the next morning was fantastic, but overall we couldn't recommend.

The property is a little dated. I stayed in the main Bldg on the 4th. As was stated in previous reviews the WiFi is not working. When I called down to the front desk to inquire receptionist said that they’re have “having trouble with the WiFi”. I told her that reviews go back 2-3 yrs and this is not a expensive fix. She said “we’re just very sorry”. Also the room is tiny. I feel like one of the Hobbits in a JR Tolkien novel. I’ve traveled all over the world and even in Japan where the Hotel rooms and shower facilities are tiny, this Hotel takes the prize for highest price per square yard of room space. I will say that the room was very quiet and peaceful at night.

Extremely rundown and overpriced

I have stayed in tons of hotels all over the world and also a few hostels and this is certainly more of the latter. How they achieve even a 3 star rating is worrying as these premises is extremely rundown. They claim to be going for an old-fashioned feel but that is just a cover for the reality that the place is falling apart with yellow damaged walls, ripped carpets and furniture in worse condition than what you would find in many skips. Every occasion I passed by reception I sae people making complaints about various issues. Apart from the rundown conditions, the water is cold and brown and so you would be cleaner before a shower or bath than after. The phone does not work either. I struggle to call this place a hotel but they may respond and say they are going for a certain look and have invested in this and that but all I can say is be warned. It you are looking for what in truth should be a 2 star hotel at 4 star prices then this could be for you!

Old world hotel meets new world

Myself and my husband stayed here for a wedding. The main building is a beautiful old building and was perfect for this setting. It was however extremely warm throughout the building and the accommodation. The sleeping accommodation was in a separate building and up some stairs - with three bedrooms with their own entrances but with entry through a shared doorway first. The accommodation was small but perfect for dropping the bags and exploring around. I found the bed a bit too soft and the bed linen very 'noisy' and crinkly. Overall though, a really nice location and setting. Nice to cosy up in the reception areas. Very helpful staff.

Excellent venue, good location BUT - tired infrastructure. Phone in room didn't work, which we found out when we tried to call front desk and ask why the WiFi in the room didn't work. Turns out the signal is not strong enough to reach the rooms, even though the ad specifically states free wifi in rooms. Available only in lobby. They say that they expect fibre in the next six months to reach them, so that problem may go away. Plumbing also an issue generally. Great place that needs an upgrade.
