Friendly and welcoming staff to this impressive building. The location, room, decor and breakfast were all huge positives. Strong smells from the kitchen did linger in the dining and lounge area. The placement of our room meant that we needed to travel through the dining room on Valentine’s evening with our belongings, which possibly affected the mood for others and felt uncomfortable. Unfortunately in the bedroom, we could hear the rooms around us including bathroom sounds. The bed was uncomfortable.

This is a hard inn to get to via the roads and woefully understaffed. The staff who was there worked so hard but there was not enough of them. The whole inn could use a facelift in furniture and design and still be in sync with the time period. The bathroom had no heat and was freezing. There was only 1 heat source in the bedroom.

We stayed in a twi room with the narrowest twin beds I have ever seen in my life - measuring about 2.5 feet in width. The mattresses were similarly not very comfortable. While the hotel is in the process of finishing up renovations so that the interior is quite new, the meals were quite dated, with offerings that weren't very contemporary and were very simple. They seemed to have one person waiting on all of the tables for dinner and breakfast and she was really frantic trying to address everyone's needs. It was hard to see how the hotel justified the price they charged.

The location was amazing, and the house and room were very nice. Check-in was easy, and the staff was great. Housekeeping in the room could use a bit of work as I found trash from previous guests in a couple of the desk drawers. Most of our meal was delicious but my venison was over cooked but my wife was perfect. No one asked us about our meal until they came to clean the dishes away and when I mentioned the overcooked meat I got an \"Oh sorry\" with no offer to fix the issue.

The House is lovely its a beautiful building - needs some repairs but nothing stopping you from enjoying it, located in a very rural place not much around - only 1 other place to eat. the view from the house is exceptional and you have a small area to sit on the water front ( stoned )

This was a wonderful experience. Murdo and Beth are great innkeepers and everything was perfection. The chef was amazing and even sang from the kitchen before dinner time. Laura was a great help with check in, tea time, dinner etc. we had a lovely time there.

We stayed 1 night in the 4-poster room. Incredible location with amazing view of Loch Long from the window. Short drive from Glasgow but a remote west coast feel, and it's a beautiful drive to get there.
The room itself was luxurious and olde-worlde. Big airy bathroom, huge 4 poster bed and comfy chairs by the window (just down the loch from Faslane so you, like us, might get a close-up view of a passing submarine...!)
We ate in the restaurant. The food was very good. However the vegan options were not great; none listed on the menu, the kitchen made a vegan option (we had informed them in advance of our vegan diner) but the 'main course' of roasted veg was like a side dish missing a centrepiece. The same has to be said for the room where e.g. some oat milk with the tea making stuff would have been appreciated. Not the worst for vegans by any means but does feel like this hotel hasn't quite caught up. After the meal we had coffee by the fire in the lounge which is cosy, warm and lovely.
Unfortunately the next morning the hotel had a water issue as the whole area lost water so we couldn't shower or flush and breakfast options were limited. Breakfast is VERY expensive at £18 per head for the sort of standard offering that is included at many hotels. The water issue wasn't the hotel's fault, and staff were lovely (though v stressed!) but I was surprised not to be offered a discount, at least on breakfast, as apology.

Not the worst for vegans by any means but does feel like this hotel hasn't quite caught up. After the meal we had coffee by the fire in the lounge which is cosy, warm and lovely.
Unfortunately the next morning the hotel had a water issue as the whole area lost water so we couldn't shower or flush and breakfast options were limited. Breakfast is VERY expensive at £18 per head for the sort of standard offering that is included at many hotels. The water issue wasn't the hotel's fault, and staff were lovely (though v stressed!) but I was surprised not to be offered a discount, at least on breakfast, as apology.

We booked this hotel as it was near the book festival we were attending We didn’t want to have to drive in the dark for our evening meal. The day before we were due to travel and after we had paid a non-refundable deposit the hotel Informed us that they didn’t do dinners on a Sunday night. It was too late to change. The breakfast was another £15 on to of £140 a night and you paid the same for a piece of toast or a full Scottish. There was no one to welcome you at reception or at checkout which were done online. Nothing that you would expect of a 4 star hotel in the rooms either. A most disappointing stay.

Booked a surprise 2 night stay for my partners birthday in one of the four poster £185 per night room. On arrival was show to a room with NO four poster tiny double bed dust and cobwebs everywhere, it was disgusting and extremely disappointed. They offer us a drink on the house for our disappointment and informed me there was no other rooms available. We got moved on the second night to what should have been for 2 nights to a four poster which was a lot better. They still charged me the full amount for our “VERY DUSTY COBWEB ROOM- VERY DISAPPOINTING first night. We will NOT ever be going back there again.

We were very disappointed to learn after the last couple of days that there was a corporate priced menu for breakfast and the continental breakfast was exactly the same as the menu we were offered, but we were paying double the price. On the first two days there were no croissants left, so on the second day I waited 15 minutes for fresh ones to be baked which arrived burnt..

Both friends and I booked thru Expedia at basically the same time. Their room was large and beautifully furnished with a bay window facing a castle. Ours was in an addition thru several doors and up the stairs. It was small with a window looking over the dumpsters outside the kitchen. Light over sink was out so lighting was poor. I actually booked first but was given the inferior room. Would have liked something similar with some of the charm that made me choose this property.

Want a lovely looking, dusty, overrated, expensive hotel that is 16 miles from Loch Lomond, this is for you.
