Staff was friendly, location is great, and it's nice being in the hotel were the rooftop bar is but the wifi was so bad I had to go to another hotel just to get my work done. As a remote worker, that's a deal breaker.

No amenities. No coffee or microwave in room. No pool. Front desk had our reservation but said we hadn’t prepaid which we had and once we showed receipt acted baffled. Said she needed to investigate and get back to us. She never got back to us in the 2 nights we were there. We asked another employee the second day and he said our account showed we had paid. The location was good but expect no amenities and the restaurant doesn’t open for breakfast till 7:30.

Don't stay here - this isn't a hotel. It's a restaurant on the bottom floor and a club on the top floor, with some rooms on the middle floor. Reception says that the rooms are 70% sound proofed and provides ear plug for sleeping but the bass/music plays all day and night until 2 AM. It's impossible to sleep (even with provided earplugs) because the music is very loud and vibrates within the room. When I voiced my concern about how loud the restaurant's music was upon checkin, reception told me the music would stop at 10 PM. Perhaps the ground floor's restaurant music stopped at 10 PM but the upstairs club music started and did not stop until 2 AM. Worst hotel stay I have ever had.

Good location, nice staff and the view from the rooftop. However the noise was just too much, people screaming into the early hours of the morning. Even earplugs didn’t help. Wouldn’t recommend staying there unless you are planning to party all night or can sleep through the earthquake.

Really funky hotel in great location in Panama’s old town. Surrounded by colonial buildings, shops and views. Cathedral and canal history museum.
Tantalo is famous for its rooftop bar which serves great cocktails, has an amazing view and loud music to 3am which does reach the rooms to some extent.

This place is a very cute boutique hotel with extremely friendly staff. The rooms are decorated by various artists which I love. The location is a perfect for the old part of town and walkable to so many cool places. My friends and wife chose this place to celebrate my birthday and my first baby’s gender reveal which was my birthday gift! The food of their Resturant was also very good. If you like local feel and authenticy please check this place out!!

My stay wasn’t four stars due to the lack of sleep, but I do not want to penalize the hotel for what was not hidden from me in the reviews. The hotel has a rooftop bar that was active until 2:30a Tuesday and Wednesday nights. They state that the room is 70% soundproof, though I suspect it to be less. I am a heavy sleeper and gambled that it would be quiet in the beginning of the week and because I have the ability to fall asleep with noise. Perhaps I may have been able to, but I suspect there is mold somewhere in the room. It wasn’t present to a point that I could smell it, but I am allergic tot mold and was unable to breathe through my nose when exposed to it.

The staff were polite. The restaurant and property look nice. Has a nice rooftop bar. And, being in Casca Vieja, the location is great for the price.

I recommend this to anyone in their 20s who would be enjoying the night life of Tantalo or other bars/clubs at later hours.

Perfect IF you like to party till the early hours or if you are a heavy sleeper. Music is PUMPING till 2am weekdays and till 4am from Thursday for weekends.

If I was 15 years younger this would be a great higher end alternative to staying in stay in.

Very caring front desk staff=Nashda, Jose, and Caroline. Octopus is excellent in dining room. Very comfortable bed. Never met management team for a welcome drink. They, somehow, wish to have loud music until 2-4a.m. in top floor viewing area. They even pass out earplugs for this ill-advised decision.

We were escorted to our room after we checked in to confirm there were no issues with our room. The Day Dreaming room was wonderful which had a balcony overlooking the street. It was a bit noisy with the bar below and the rooftop bar but that did not bother us. They do provide earplugs in the room but we did not need them.

The service, food and drinks were excellent.

There were many shops, restaurants and bars just steps away from the hotel. It is also near the cruise port for Norwegian.

This was an excellent pick for our overnight stay before our cruise.

This was our second time here and 5 years ago was the first time. We were a little disappointed this time.
The hotel felt a but run down compared to what I was remembering and expecting.
Staff were great, and location and rooftop are amazing but the rooms and common areas felt like they needed small repairs or updates and that it had been neglected.

The hotel offers fine dining on the first floor and also a rooftop bar with magnificent views of Panama City. Loved the location. Close to absolutely everything.. including subway, Rey’s grocery, restaurants, shopping, transportation & coffee shops. Oh & Ice cream
Parlours. Staff were top notch. Very safe & secure hotel. Our room was extremely large, Lots of storage & counter space. It is very loud at night because of all the nightlife, But the hotel provides ear plugs if needed. The noise did not bother us. It goes on till 2 am & 4 am on weekends. It is a fantastic energy place. No pool. The restaurant is so delicious, best chicken my husband & I ever had in our life. All other meals were an amazing experience. It has an amazing roof top bar. The view is fantastic. The drinks are delicious. Didn’t get a chance to eat up there, but the menu looks delicious. Just be aware that your room key is your air condition & lights. So when you leave you pop your card out of the slot & air conditioner & lights shut off. But it only takes about 15 minutes to cool the place down when you return. I would recommend this hotel.

The facility was very nice and clean. Room was spacious. The things I didn’t like were not the fault of the hotel. Be warned that the upstairs bar is LOUD until very late and then construction in the area is also very loud and starts very early in the morning. There’s also a ton of cabs/ubers honking outside constantly. The hotel does provide earplugs which help. We didn’t eat at the restaurant in the hotel but it’s nice that there is a restaurant on site. The view from the rooftop bar is absolutely stunning, especially at night.

I liked that the rooms were spacious and the interior design was super unique with artistic details throughout the hotel. Location was good with restaurants and attractions within walking distance. Downside was that our room was below the roof top nightclub which raged until 4am and was very loud. Also we asked for car service to the airport and was told a driver would arrive in 15min. After waiting almost an hour we had to flag down a passing taxi to make our flight which we almost missed due to the delay.

My wife and I have been staying at TANTALO since 2017 and we have really enjoyed our time there.

Some of the amazing things about TANTALO is the fact that the property is all inclusive with a hotel, restaurant and amazing roof top bar experience.

My wife enjoy that for the last 7 years, many of the TANTALO staff are still working their. We met Mr. Anyelo who was our waiter from 2017 to 2024 is now considered both a brother to my wife and I.

I want to also give a special thanks to additional current and past TANTALO staff. Mr. Lorenzo Robles (GM) was an amazing host to my wife and I. David the awesome Security Guard at nights has always treated my wife and I with VIP treatment. Angie has always been an amazing hostess. Rafael the former TANTALO Rooftop Bar has become a great friend and has always treated my wife and I like VIP Royalty when visiting the rooftop experience. Finally the front desk staff has always made checking in smooth and enjoyable.

I am looking forward to our next visit in July or August and know that anyone reading this will have an equally enjoyable TANTALO experience.

P.S

It's a must to try the Passion Fruit Mohito after checking in a the delicious Watermelon juice after a long day of sightseeing. It's a great hydration drink.

Unfortunately Saturday night the bar was pumping loud music and the taxis were beeping their horns until 5am. The earplugs they provided helped, but sleep was definitely interrupted.

Parking says it's available, had to park in a community lot, pay $25. If we would have known that we would have chose another hotel.

Food was delicious and the passion fruit mohito hit the spot after flying. The club on the top floor is loud, so if you are a light sleeper - it's not the hotel for you.

Perfect location, super cool art everywhere, fantastic food, & superb service from start to finish! Yes, it can be a little noisy into the early morning hours, but I knew that when I booked - & it actually wasn't as much of a disturbance as I was expecting. I wish there was a coffee maker in the room & I definitely would have liked to have washcloths (like other reviewers, I found it odd that they don't have them). I will absolutely book this property for my next trip!

What we didn’t like.
The shower has very little pressure of water. They didn’t provide small towels and the fridge is not refilled every day as it’s supposed to be.

Overall everything was good. I would stay here again.

Two issues: First all of the links indicated that parking was available, there was no parking at the hotel, parking lot was 400m away and you had to pay $26 for a night. Second was the concierge was zero help in answering questions and was zero proactive.
Reception staff was excellent, courteous, helpful, cheerful, kudos to her.

We loved the Tantalo! Our room was amazingly spacious and comfortable. The whole place is full of interesting art - each room has murals and interesting decor. The location is super convenient to everything in Casco Viejo and easy to go into new Panama as well, all on foot. But don’t worry if you don’t want to walk. There are taxis coming by the hotel every 30 seconds! The rooftop bar is fun and the breakfast downstairs is good. The room was clean and had everything we needed. My only complaint is the noise. The rooftop bar has loud music and happy loud people going until 2am on weeknights and 4am on weekends. The taxis honk their horns constantly. It was hard to sleep. Earplugs don’t help. So if you are a partier or a heavy sleeper, this is your place!!! Everyone is really nice.

My husband and I stayed here twice recently and we really enjoyed our experience. We loved the individuality of each room as well as the artwork throughout the hotel. We also liked the great location and had a fantastic time exploring the area! It is definitely not super quiet but we were fine with my white noise app on my phone. You won't get a good night's sleep.

If you want to sleep, don't stay here. In fact, don't stay in any hotel within two blocks. Rooftop dance party every night until 2pm. The bass reverberates through the building. Earplugs, television, loud music of your own are all ineffective. This is really more of a nightclub and restaurant. Hotels are primarily about a place to sleep, and this one doesn't offer that amenity until after 2am. They did not tell us any of this until the day before with an email about the noise, but that they have insulated the walls and offer free earplugs. Neither help.

I wanted to love this hotel - a bit chic, artsy, with a cool rooftop bar I'd heard about. Panama City is a rough place, and for anything that is it all approaching US standards in cleanliness and safety, it would cost 2-3x. But there were hints of trouble - room safe broken, wifi didn't work, AC never got cold - and I should've turned round and walked out if that had been realistically possible given the time constraints of Trip. But it never is. The real problem happened when the sun went down and the Music volume went up... There was a huge private party/rave directly above me. This was not volumes of people or music that normal humans not working near aircraft should ever experience! Admittedly it looked super fun, but it was private and closed. Even with noise canceling AirPods, external earmuffs/phones and sleep aids, there was absolutely zero chance of any sleep. The music did not turn down until 4 AM. I did try to complain Spanish - English barrier) but no success. If it were a quiet weekday, maybe this place would have some potential, but cannot emphasize enough how much you should avoid it on any weekend or holiday! Much more a night club than hotel. No refund offered. Still tired... AVOID!!!

Excellent Place to Sleep, Eat and drink

The staff at the hotel were excellent. There is a great restaurant and roof top bar. The General Manager made a point to check in with me (and other guests) multiple times throughout my stay. The team were pleasant had helpful.

Weekend at the Tantalo

Very good stay. Excellent service. The staff was very helpful. There is a very lively rooftop bar if you are looking to party. If you are looking for a good night sleep, then this may not be a good option. I didn't mind because I had already read the reviews. The front desk staff was excellent and very helpful. She even helped me with my luggage and helped with taxi ride and uber. I can't remember her name, sorry.

Amazing hotel and staff. Rooms are big and clean. Good all times of the day is very good. Walking distance to many things. The rooftop is open everyday and is a plus for sunsets, drinks, food, and to party. Will stay here every time I am in Panama City.

Great Hotel for Partying in Panama City

The Tantalo Hotel is a cool, modern boutique hotel in a great location. There many restaurants and stores in easy walking distance. It has a nice rooftop bar and restaurant and another on the first floor that are very popular.

The bars and restaurants were fun but they do get rather loud. On weekends the DJ goes until 4AM. They gave me earplugs when I checked in. If you're looking to party into the night this is a great place. If you are more interested in a quiet evening with an early bedtime, this may not be the best fit for you. I would still stop by the bar for a drink.

Casco Viejo gem

Fabulous art boutique hotel. Great food and music snd views at rooftop bar. A bit loud so bring earplugs due to bar music but I didn’t mind. Extremely friendly and pleasant service. The receptionist showed me everything about the room personally. Love the art throughout hotel.

Amazing Property location. Very easy to get to from airport via taxi. Awesome staff.!
In the heart of Casco Viejo, he coolest part of Panama City. Famous roof top patio with incredible view. Highly recommend.!

Great location but service can improve since we had issues with cold showers. They told us they would look into it and fix it by the time we came back from our day trip. Well, it wasn’t fixed and it took us four times asking until they finally fixed it. Also it is noisy with outside traffic, rooftop bar parties, street noise. It caters to partiers and people into the trendy scene. Just not our cup of tea.

Cool hotel in Costco Viejo!

Tantalo is a cool hotel with an excellent staff. Very helpful and friendly. Art is all over the hotel and rooms. Comfortable bed and very clean as was the bathroom. Rooftop bar was fun with great food, drink, music, staff and views!
