Staff are very helpful in all hotel areas. Room was clean but need renovations and some furniture need to be replaced. Roads around the hotel are narrow and require lots of attention while driving.

Great location for exploring the heart of the original downtown Manama. The breakfast buffet has good variety. The rooms and common areas are seriously in need of painting and carpet replacement.

No locking facility from inside like door chain or

Room was ok but no locking facility from inside dangerous for British nationals travellers like us who look more for safety and security then money spoken to general manager who said only staff can open with keys from outside could not sleep well as on floor someone was noisy and fear not enter your room if someone drunk also boiler needs to be changed not all people have cold water baths I have with mixed water hot and cold my job is to give review whoever reads it’s your decision to make what you want we all grown up adults after all

Hotel is a bit dated but staff is very helpful. Location is very central in downtown Manama. Very reasonably priced. Had a very good experience. General Manager Mr. Mohammed Saddiqi is very cooperative and attentive to customer. Will definitely stay here again.

The room was stuck in the year 1998. But they had HBO so it wasn't too bad and the beds felt like they were the original beds from when the place first opened.

Enjoyed staying at this hotel. Hotel staff is very cooperative. Car parking available, quick check-in within one minute, fantastic AC, TV channels, enjoyed to watch movie. I requested hotel manager for extension of check out & he has accepted. Lot of shops at walking distance.It is really value for money. Very satisfied.

Not what you would expect.

We booked this hotel because it was a “3-star hotel” with good reviews. It was hard to find and we had to use a GPS app. The neighborhood was not nice with lots of dilapidated buildings around. The hotel itself was very old. I had to ask the security guard to let us use the hotel parking lot. The staff were friendly enough and we were able to secure our booking easily. No bellhop service. Elevators were very small, would probably fit only 3 people.
The room looked clean, no dust or offensive smell. But it was old with stained carpets & curtains, the picture frames askew. There was an old table, box-type TV and extension cord. All the furniture were chipped and in need of refurbishing.
The bed was placed oddly against the wall, sheets smelled like bleach and the pillows and bed were lumpy. There were no slippers available.
The bathroom looked clean and had hot water. The shampoos were used, no toothbrushes available. Upon closer inspection, the shower curtains & floors were moldy.
The next day, we woke to traffic noise and a lot of shouting outside. We availed the free breakfast. We had some toast and hotdogs, nothing special. We checked out after that.
The staff were friendly and the room did seem like they were cleaned. It's just that the hotel is very old and no longer qualifies as a 3 star hotel. We've been to 5 star hotels, hostels & even Traveler's Inns before and we would say that this hotel is not a 3 star hotel, more like a very old Traveler's Inn.

Value for money.

Value for money. Peaceful location.Hotel staff very cooperative. Car Parking available. Hotel location near Bab al Bahrain. Shops are on walking distance.

The only issue is that it is difficult to reach at hotel due to narrow streets & one way.

Over all the it is nice hotel to stay with family.

Trust me - I was a hotel general manager!

I stayed here for 4 great nights. My room was old but clean, and the entire bathroom was recently renovated - it was first-class. The linens were clean and the sheets were crisp! The TV was old but they have HBO. The free in-room WIFI was very good for this part of the world. The free breakfast is good but I missed it one morning and ordered room service. The room service food was excellent and it was cheap by Western standards. There are restaurants nearby and hotels with alcohol bars as well. I considered staying at the nearby Holiday Inn Express because I was a Holiday Inn general Manager for more than 20 years. However, the Oriental Palace was less than half the price of the Holiday Inn. It's a great deal - they changed money for me and served me in every way!

It was a business trip where I just was looking for a neighborhood which was perfect.
The room is small and averagely clean, the hotel is old and the breakfast was very basic. However, the price was very good.

Great location

In walking distance to shops, local eateries, and a taxi stand located at the entrance of the souq. The front desk staff were helpful. I noticed there was no \"trashy/suspicious\" looking people / females hanging around the lobby area. The hotel was quiet. I booked a single room, it was spacious and very clean. The room had a twin bed, wardrobe, desk, tv, central a/c, 2 chairs and coffee table, and a balcony. The furniture was a bit dated but the room was very clean. The bed sheets and linen were also very clean. The bathroom looked newly refurbished. New fixtures, shower and large bathtub, large bathroom space, new sink and large mirror. I ordered room service for breakfast once, dinner twice. The food was great. I had the Arabic Breakfast and it was a feast. I also had the grilled chicken one night and lamb chops the other - well cooked, nice side dishes very tasty and reasonably priced. The Manama souq is in walking distance. There are also local eateries and well known fast food places in walking distance. By taxi, I reached the Grand Mosque in about 20 minutes (from the entrance of the souq). The National Museum is also about 20 minutes away. Overall, the Oriental Palace is reasonably priced for a place to sleep and conveniently located.

Nice Middle Eastern Breakfast

The hotel was quiet and was OK, particularly considering the low price. It was as nice as others that were over twice the cost and with no breakfast. The included breakfast was very nice--hummus, cut veggies, toast, juice, a tasty fried item (name unknown), coffee, and cheese omelets upon request. The service personnel were friendly and helpful. I would stay there again. The hotel appears to be in the process of upgrade and renovation. For example, my bathroom was in new condition. The location can be difficult to find if you are unfamiliar with the area.

Is a good place for money you pay

Good place for money you pay. Bahrain is very expensive Country, but is some place like
this hotel you can stay clean comfortable and pay half of eurohotel... so if you can accept
and balance market area with a lot people (very friendly) at very small street
when you are moving then is a good place where you spend nothing to stay ..
very good food ! friendly people of service !
internet free but only in the lobby but ok place to stay to use your pc
good food in to the restaurant of the hotel very cheap price

Decent hotel close to the souq. Staff is very friendly and helpful. If you don't mind 70's design this is a good, reasonable place to stay in Manama. The only drawback: the somewhat shady neighborhood that is just behind the hotel, might not be the best place for women to walk around alone.

The hotel it self was comfortable, and was good to its price...The rooms were big enough, the bathrooms were good too and the beds were good enough. The hotel is in the middle of the city and everything is just near you. There is market of walking distance too.
The area is an old area. The area near the hotel is sadly full of illegal prostitution which is very evident at night, thus recommendations for families not to go there. it is not a good scene to see.
Hotels to avoid in the same area that I know about are: Awal Hotel and Athari hotel. Check google maps to avoid this area for families.
Otherwise if you are not with your family go to this hotel, it is good and cheap enough.

Bahrain is a GREAT and AWESOME country, you should go there for sure. Small island but lots of things to do...however, you have to look good for them and try to get friendly with the local people and make friends,,they are what Bahrain is all about...:D

Good place if you're just there to party

The area it was in was very off the beaten path. The hotel was old. However, the staff was very friendly and the hotel was decent enough for some traveling college students. I'm glad we decided to stay here. Avoid the russian club \"The Fire\" in the Delmon International hotel though. They charged us about 4 times to much for drinks cause we were white. It should be illegal to do that.
I think staying at the Oriental Palace was the best decision we made during the trip.

We have reached the morning early to get ready, the reception was held entry procedures within a few minutes and we went to our room nice clean large kind, very elegant and the breakfast average and limited is free with the room and was all the hotel staff are fully prepared and appreciation was also a car park for free for me next to the door of the hotel Please visit with the protection of this classic hotel.

As expected...

The hotel was as expected. The quality and decor was dated, but it was a cheapish hotel. The room was clean. Though the breakfast was poor and they did not wash our towels. It is difficult to find, one should not attempt to find the place in a hire car late at night!

oriental palace, not a palace, but quiet and centr

one of the few alcohol-free and prostitution-free hotels of this price-category. a bit worn out ... Indian breakfast with 2 eggs fried to wish. 25 Dinar a night for a double, ask if you want a big bed for two.
get there: drive to the front of the bab a bahrain
(Gate to Bahrain) directly after the KFC to the right, at the T-junction to the left, 50 m, there you are, the security will open a parking spot for you.
upgraded after 4 nights, to a \"better\" place at 40 BD, with bars and dames ...

Oriental Palace Hotel - Stay away

The hotel is only about 7 kilometers from the airport however due to the location, it took over one hour to find it. The location is not tourist friendly. If you are vegan, then the location is fine; if not, you have to walk or drive to find food. The room was not clean nor made when I arrived. No thermostat to control the a/c, either on or off. Never stay at the Oriental Palace Hotel again.

Good for single travellers on a budget

This is a very basic hotel but what do you expect considering the price. There was not hot water and the rooms were small and basic, but for a single person on a budget this was all I needed. The breakfast was very basic too; toast with some eggs and juice! I would definitely recommend this hotel for single travellers who only need a room to sleep for a couple of nights. It's in a good location too, pretty much right next to the souk.

This hotel is good for an inexpensive one-night layover. Nothing really exceptional about the place, but sheets and towels were clean and the room was generally clean. Easy to get to from the airport (about 20 mins) and descent room service. Very dated interior (c 1970), but nothing to complain about. Good value if you are just looking for a place to shower and sleep. Took a brief walk around the area in the morning before my return flight -- nothing really around there but knick knack market (blankets, watches, etc.). Not that exciting.
