I'll start off by saying all the staff- only a handfull on site ,were great but seemed to be doing multiple roles ie very understaffed. No sign of a manger at all during our 3 day stay and staff seemed to be operating under \"pressure\"

Perhaps at the height of the summer I may have had a different experience as the outside terraces etc were all shutdown and that's where you'd want to be rather than inside the hotel....

This is a tired old property that hasn't been updated in many many years. Old soiled carpets, stained furniture, mismatched odd furniture just placed around the building. A constant smell of stale cigerette smoke especialy in the lobby and stairwell to the rooms.

Bedroom and bathroom linens were beyond old and worn. Our room was large and sparsely furnished with an onsuite that had a handheld shower in a precariously narrow tub which nessesitated some acrobatics to shower successfully.

I see why they have a payment in full upfront with policy, as we would have and I witnessed another couple try to shorten their stay but recieve no refund..

Overall, a very dissapointing stay for such a beautiful city. Surprised and dissapointed that Expedia promote it so highly ...

Think \"Faulty Towers\", Siena style ... if you get the reference, you know what i mean!

Liked breakfast. Had dinner one evening. Not really worth the cost.
Found it very noisy, was hoping for a peaceful location. First a dog barking then frequent garden machinery noise probably a leaf blower/ vacuum. Obviously pride in the gardens. Staff nice in restaurant. Most reception helpful. Checking out don't think asked if enjoyed

Beautiful boutique hotel outside of Siena city. We stayed in the deluxe room and it was perfect. There is no shuttle but a bus stops right outside the hotel- we found this wasn’t very dependable and relied on taxis at times (€14 each way) While the hotel is close to the city, it’s not walkable, so take that into consideration. Breakfast was a typical continental, my only complaint was the time it took to get the hot food to the table, it was either forgotten or took a very long time. The staff serving were excellent but 1 server for a full breakfast room isn’t adequate. The hotel grounds are beautiful.

On site breakfast delicious with a nice assortment of fruit and pastries. The full bar available 24 hrs .
Only two notes :
In room coffee would be preferred and is not available.
Only USB in the rooms for charging and adapters only worked in the bathroom; the other outlets could not accommodate EU plugs or phone chargers .

It really is an extraordinary place. Amazing building, high ceilings. Elegant, top service. My wife loved it and we rather thought it was worth the money in spite of a couple minor points. The bath/shower knob did not engage fully to shower mode, so the water ran heavy through the tub spout during showers. But the pressure was still good at the shower. This was complicated by slow drains (both in the shower and also the sink). We stayed 3 nights but no repair was forthcoming (hard to get a plumber I guess). The shower was in the tub which is a tight squeeze. These places use an old dungeon key for room entry...no security risk I think, but it would be nice to upgrade to electronic card access? We booked understanding that there was air conditioning but there was none, or not functioning...consulted staff. The weather was temperate so not a problem but, travelling through Italy can be sticky and we like to dry out at the end of the day. Even with all this, the place is extraordinary and it was a fine place for the money. Also I wanted to get some laundry done as we travelled for weeks, but thee seemed no way to get it done. The pool is nice but in this season alot of flies were in the pool. The staff and service and food are top notch. The place is on a road that has the usual Italian motorbikes zipping up the road. But at night it is quiet. Beautiful property gardens. There was no shuttle to town, but the buses stop right at the property. We drove.

We had a great 5 night stay at the Villa Scacciapensieri. The room was cozy and very comfortable. We loved the outside of the facility, it was beautiful, flowers, lemon trees, beautiful landscape. The staff were good, the staff who worked breakfast were amazing! The front desk seemed a bit stressed out. We rented the bikes which was a blast! Our minor complaint, they refused to uncork a bottle of wine we planned to drink in our room. They gave us a beer opener, but not wine.
The facility offers very little, which was what we were looking for, just FYI if you want extras

Worst hotel experience EVER

The Worst Stay Ever !! This hotel management team will tell you it’s illegal for them to heat the rooms more than twice a day for short periods ….this is fraudulent behaviour. We checked into the hotel - premium room and upon entering the room it was dark, damp and very cold. We asked for the heating to be turned on and was told this was not possible because of local government rules on heating times. Given the condition of the room it’s damp state and temperature I would not ask my pet dog to stay there. This is NOT a 4 star hotel and does not justify all of the positive ratings. - if you look at those - most were pre covid after which I am told the hotel went into administration and emerged in a poor state - no refurb and no investment. We were moved to another room , however this was a mezzanine up steep stairs with no handrail - joke. I’m a very regular traveller and stay in hotels at least 80/100 nights per year - this was the worst in terms of description and mid match to reality. We asked for a refund and were refused. After some further complaint to Hotels.com they did assist - but I would suggest that you PASS on this hotel AT ANY COST. - you have been warned. This is at best a poor 2 star premises and only stay here if you like to be cold and damp

Included breakfast is very yummy , the only complaint I would have is the food at dinner , didn’t look good and didn’t taste good . I suggest you going down the street there a pizzeria near the camping , there pizzas were amazing . The rooms are cute and comfy. I would recommend this place .

Beautiful hotel out of the way from the busy tourists area of Siena. At the same time, not walking distance to old Siena and taxi one way to piazza Mattieto is about 12 Euros. We also had an infestation of ants in our room which staff seemed indifferent to and the food at the hotel’s restaurant was a bit underwhelming. Otherwise, a beautiful location with ama I got views and nice rooms.

This hotel is one of the nicest hotels Ive ever stayed. The gardens and grounds are so beautiful and picturesque.
The restaurant is a must!! There is seating inside or outside. The chef's menu changes daily, expect to be blown away by his dishes! I highly recommend this hotel. The staff goes out of their way above and behond.

Nice Villa a bit of a drive from the center. From the train station about 12 euros and to the center of town 12-15 euros depending on traffic and time. Breakfast was good, staff extremely helpful and attentative. Gianni helped us many times with our suitcases, and helping us get around. Great service!

Early 1900s vacation/holiday hotel. Good dining facilities with great coffee at breakfast. Beautiful grounds with gardens, nice pool, plenty of space to relax outside day or night. View of the Tuscan country side from the grounds is the stuff of postcards . Outside town, so you must take 10 minute bus to city center- it stops at the end of the driveway. Unique rooms. Magnificent location. Just at €10 cab to Siena. So nice to stay in a villa in the Tuscan country side. Authentic Tuscany experience. They recommended an awesome tour to San Gimignano, Chianti etc. was a wonderful day. The hotel made it so easy no request was a problem. So nice to be away from the tourist area and soak up the Tuscan way of life.

Great location in the northern part of Sienna. You can be at a local restaurant deep in the vineyards within a 15 minute drive. Views to the north over the vineyards and Tuscan valleys are extraordinary!

It would be best to have a car if you stay here and the hotel has a large free parking spot for you. We had breakfast at the hotel and a couple of dinners. All were very good. The breakfast was included and the dinner meal was reasonably priced.

We were upgraded to a Jr Suite, which we hadn’t expected and it was by far the best hotel room on our Italy trip.

This was a vacation my husband and I had been planning for several years......traveling across Italy. Villa Scacciapensieri was one of our stops. It is a true gem. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. From giving suggestions for restaurants (Enzo's and La Taverna di San Guiseppe) to unique wineries to visit...every suggestion was better than the last. The room was clean and spacious. The grounds were well maintained and picturesque. We would finish our days in the lounge area with a glass of wine and music (and it did not matter when your day ended as the bar was open 24 hours)! Do not pass this place up. It will definitely add to your experience.

Picturesque Villa

Sweeping views of the countryside, a crackling fireplace in the lobby and large spacious historic rooms. This hotel is everything I imagined it would be in Tuscany. The service was top-notch. A delicious breakfast of local meats cheeses and made to order eggs were served. The Villa is set only five minutes by taxi from the train station in the historic downtown. It is far enough away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy the beauty of what’s around. You can take a taxi from the Villa into town that only takes five minutes or you can take a local bus that picks up and drops off right at the end of the driveway of the Villa. The hotel also offers bicycles to use for free. .
I look forward to return with my friends so we can enjoy all of the other cities around see Siena for a girls vacation.

The staff and facilities at Villa Scacciapensieri were wonderful and welcoming. Loved the gardens, the pool and the breakfast every morning - particularly when we were able to dine out on the lovely patio. The hotel restaurant was great (especially when we arrived late evening the first night) but for a more casual setting there is a nice restaurant a few minutes walk down the road at the campground which our 7 y.o. really enjoyed. The hotel is a 10 minute drive from the city centre but its fine if you plan for this (bus/taxi). We had a great stay here and would highly recommend it.

Beautiful spot in the Tuscan countryside

What a lovely spot -- truly beautiful on the top of a hill in the surroundings of Siena. There is a pool and several terraces/gardens where you can sit and read. Restaurant staff truly Old-World gracious and accommodating. You'll have to take the bus or drive to get into Siena proper but for us this was OK as we had a car. The breakfast is served outside in the garden, weather permitting, and it was really delightful and delicious. Would love to come back here sometime!

This was a last minute reservation while making a detour traveling through Italy. Thank goodness for spontaneity. This is a beautiful family owned hotel less than 10 minutes from Siena. The villa itself and the view are worth it. The accomodations are excellent, but the owners and staff make this hotel top notch. I cannot review the full restaurant, because we only partook of a delicious breakfast which was continental, of course, but eggs cooked to order were available.
If I ever have the pleasure of traveling in Italy again, I will certainly make this stop, but for more than one night.

This reminded me of the hotels we stayed in 50 years ago in Europe. It has an old world charm but updated amenities and was spotlessly clean. The service was excellent, from the front desk to the maître d’ and servers. It’s off the beaten path but the historic parts of Siena are easily accessed and the views were lovely.

We very much enjoyed our 5 night stay. Our room was lovely; good bathroom. Restaurant for dinner was very good with excellent service. Good breakfast included. A drawback for some, though, is that without a car, you need to take a bus to the town centre. Perhaps not as convenient as staying right within walking of il campo.

Beautiful surrounds. The food was very expensive & average quality. We bought a bus ticket into town from reception. It would have been useful for staff to let us know we had to validate it on the bus as we were thrown off & fined half way into town.

Great place to relax

It was a lovely place to stay on the outskirts of Siena. You need to use local public bus or call a taxi to get into historic Siena. However, the hotel is an excellent choice for being away from all the noise of the city. Delightful surprise was the turn down the beds service and the restaurant there is not to be missed!!

Wonderful Traditional Villa

Our stay at Villa Scacciapensieri exceeded expectations. Customer service was the real winner here. The hotel staff was kind and always willing to help. They even helped us book a wine tour prior to our arrival and arranged for pick up at the hotel. The pool was lovely. The only complaint we have, which did not impact our overall opinion of the stay, was that the air conditioner didn't seem to work. It was literally over 100 degrees Fahrenheit so needless to say it was a little too warm in the room for my liking. But this was a minor detail as we didn't spend much time in the room given the beautiful grounds.

Very Pleasant

What a beautiful place to stay! Everything was perfect. Dinner was out of this world! They make their own olive oil and it is superior to any I have ever tasted. The pool stays open until 9:00! A rarity in Italy! I will definitely come back!

Utterly lovely

Stunning views of the Tuscan countryside coupled with being in easy reach of Siena, make Scacciapensieri a fantatically located hotel. There's easy access to the bus service, but we hired a car & used the parking that was available; the taxi from Siena station was €8.

The staff were all warm, welcoming & informative, and accommodated my toddler well (large cot bed, friendly flexibility around eating etc). This definitely added to how relaxing our break was.

The pool was clean with stunning views, but was on the refreshing side, so our little one only lasted a few minutes at a time before she was shivering. And depth-wise it's definitely an adult pool. Lovely to be able to have drinks & nibbles in the pool and garden areas.

The food, wine and ambience created by the team in the outdoor restaurant were consistently excellent- one of the main reasons we'd return.

Nice hotel with a beautiful view of Tuscany

The hotel is wonderful, has a pool to relax and enjoy the view , very peaceful
The only bad thing was our beds were hard and the pillows didn't help either

Lovely, lovely Villa! Wanted to Move in.

Wanted to stay forever! Historic Villa, beautiful gardens, views and a lovely large room. The service was marvelous and the restaurant was quite good. We stayed here in order to see Siena without having to drive our rent-a-car into the city which can be quite difficult. It was easy to get a bus to the center of Siena and we were even able to buy bus tickets at the front desk. I think this is the only place I would stay when seeing Siena.
