Lovely hotel. Stayed with my wife for her birthday.
We had a deluxe room which was quite a long walk from hotel reception. The room was nicely decorated and the bed was massive!
Only negative points for the room were the amount of cobwebs and dust around light fittings and soundproofing between rooms. We could clearly hear people in other rooms using their toilet facilities.
We used the pool which was warm and changing room was clean and tidy.
Buffet breakfast was superb, there is loads of choices and it is all fresh and delicious!
Overall we were pleased with our stay here and would happily stay again.

The room was a little tired but ok for what we paid. We were hoping to get room service when we arrived but that didn’t appear to be a thing since there was no menu (or any other hotel information) in the room. We headed to the restaurant where we were waited on by a lovely young lady (Matilda?) However, the food was not good at all. The menu was very limited and uninspiring. We were served the driest pork belly bites we’ve ever tasted (like they’d been reheated multiple times), brown salad leaves, stale, toasted bread sold as focaccia and it wasn’t cheap. Unfortunately breakfast wasn’t much better with multiple items run out (no sausages and minimal beans) despite it not being busy. When I mentioned this to one of the staff there was no apology, just an acknowledgment (which I believe was acted on but too late for us). I’ve stayed multiple times in another De Vere property which has always been fantastic. This one falls way short of the same standard. It was fine for a basic stop over but nothing more.

We decided on same day to book this hotel last minute as had just arrived back to Manchester airport and wanted to extend holiday time a day longer. We wanted somewhere within range of the Peak District with a pool and Spa facilities etc and De Vere Cranage estate came up in the search looking like it fitted the bill. It didn't disappoint.
Scenic well maintained grounds and good parking on arrival. Quick check in with friendly professional staff. Room was a double on lower floor. Decent size comfortable bed and pillows. Large tv, good wifi, safe, fan, additional heater, iron and board. Tea/coffee making facilities with biscuits etc.
Swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room plus extensive gym facilities which are complementary for guests and open from around 07:30 till 20:00 which is good. Very hot sauna and steam room which is what I always hope for. All nice and clean as well. Keypad lockers you just enter a four digit sequence of your choice twice to set it. (I had to ask a guest to show me as hadn't paid attention)
We had a fantastic lovely sunny day and warm evening there so we watched the sunset in a cloudless sky in the grounds along with others.
Breakfast was very good although we arrived at peak time so was busy. A good range on offer that I can't fault at all.
I will most certainly use this hotel when in the area again and give it 10 out of 10.

The gym and pool were good but busy. It's a walk out of town, maybe 20 mins walk to the train station. Very nice staff, bar staff were particularly friendly and welcoming. Had a minor cleanliness issue with my room. They didn't correct it and didn't offer any recompense for it. Not my hair on the chair!

Stayed here for one night as we were attending a wedding nearby and the hotel was lovely. Room nice and clean and spacious. We also used the pool, sauna and jacuzzi too (steam room was having work done). We spoke to the hotel direct to arrange early check in for a fee so we had longer to use the facilities.
Breakfast was included and it was lovely, continental options along with full English breakfast

Overall, disappointing. Room was fine, as expected. I decided to dine in the bar which was very disappointing. No atmosphere and not welcoming. Quality of food was very poor and my only solace was that I didn’t pay £19 for breakfast. Maybe it was a just bad day for the hotel but I wouldn’t return.

Was overall excellent, just little points , couple tiny holes in net curtain on window, shower head wouldn't angle downwards , but was great strong shower over bath not walk in , bit of an older style , toilet roll not best quality bit rough , but soap and gel amazing smell, bed was comfy, single beds moved about a bit on wheels.
Pool was good, good length, warm , jacuzzi could have been a little hotter but was nice . Changing rooms had everything, hairdryers , tongs and spin dryer for costumes .Only no private changing cubicles , I used the toilet.
Breakfast really good, hash browns were especially nice .
Staff were really friendly and helpful, lovely quality hotel, and staff add to that quality. We would recommend and plan another visit .

This is the second of recent stays we have been in very dated rooms, first visit no hot water and this time the cold water tap on the bath didn't work at all!
Spoke to manangement who said we should have called maintenance, however at 7.30am and with 2 dogs who would bark and wake other guests not a considerate option! should have worked in the first place!
Manager did suggest he would contact me after we left but so far he has not!
Not sure we will stay again now, very disappointing as we have stayed there many times in the past!

Firstly I love this hotel and have never been disappointed before, however I have come away feeling very let down this time. We used the leisure suit but in getting in the jacuzzi if was frothy on the top and had lots of sand in the bottom of it, it was not clean at all, no where on the site that I booked informed us that work was being done on the leisure suit and that we didn't have full use of everything, the steam room is being replaced so we were unable to use it. Also the amount of noise from teenagers that were staying there was ridiculous, we had them messing around banging in to our door and kicking a football against it late last night.

Room too cold - radiator wasn’t working. Pool was nice. Gym looked good but didn’t use it. Can’t be eco friendly with so much meat/animal products on offer at breakfast. No plant-based yoghurts. All cereals contained milk on the ingredients. We did advise we were vegan before staying. Was room really delux? Not really. No robes, no bath tub, so I’d say no. Staff were lovely and friendly.

Having sat down in the lounge , next to the lit fire, I decided to order a coffee and some food , only to find there was a tray service charge of £5! As a woman travelling alone I wanted to sit in what I thought was a lovely hotel lounge, and not a bar where i would feel uncomfortable being alone and have a couple of drinks and a bite to eat. I was very disappointed in this.

We had booked a room and notified the hotel we were bringing a small dog. The hotel then chose to allocate us a disabled room for no reason, actually this was not very suitable as my small
Daughter could not get on the toilet without help. The room was freezing and at around 5:30am the emergency door next to us was banging open. We did ask for the heating to be increased but ended up staying in one bed to keep warm.

Felt i was given a table out of the way when others were readily available.
The trip was a break as a couple .
We both work long and unsociable hours.
So the trip was to unwind and relax.
The jacuzzi was out of service with no prior notice.
The Restaurant also closed.
We tried to order a pizza to share also unavailable.
The room we gad was comfortable and clean.
Seemed the far end of the hotel.
No drinking water in the room.
Also z beds duvets travel cots left in corridors.
I think for what we paid it felt a disappointing experience.
Time is precious and we felt that maybe we have higher expectations.
So our trip felt a little disappointing.

The hotel looks lovely and the lounges are very pleasing but the rooms are very disappointing. The rooms reminded me of a care home. My room was freezing - thank god there was an electric radiator in the cupboard as the normal radiators were not working.

Fantastic grounds and location for what we needed, very welcoming at check in, everyone saying hello whilst walking through the hotel it’s the small details I like. Room very clean and comfy beds also nice and warm. Breakfast standard buffet style but can order different style eggs but not mentioned to us upon seating. (Small detail)There was a little black board stating it but only saw it once plated up. All in all great hotel. Big thumbs up

We were not aware that this was a dog friendly hotel before booking. So we’re very surprised to see lots of dogs around the hotel at all times.
There were dogs barking at each other in the hotel bar on Saturday night, which was very strange and not relaxing at all. We left the bar because of this. We would not stay at this hotel again as a result of the number of dogs in the hotel.

No USB ports in the rooms for charging phones. No bottle water in the rooms and mini bar would have been nice for the class of hotel, I would have expected this. My wife also commented on that there was no conditioner in the room.
Room was clean, staff were pleasant, although the lady in reception did take us to the wrong floor first for our room.
The building and surrounding grounds was beautiful and although they had electrical points, they were slow - only 7.3Kwh - same you would find in your home.

I attended for a wedding. The wedding itself was nice and the meal was good but the room itself was just okay. It was very basic with some issues like taps that were hard to turn off that would drip unless you really turned them with some force. The radiator was also quite noisy and the room itself was very noisy with little soundproofing from people around. The thumb rest on the shower head was also broken so I couldn’t change the spray type.

We booked a room for two nights. It was a clean room with well stocked tea facilities. Sadly the first night we had very noisy neighbours and perhaps smokers as they were in and out of the room banging doors until 1am. The second night was much more pleasant. Although we were able to park close to our room, it is a little bit of a walk to get back to reception, restaurants and spa facilities. The Spa facilities were small but adequate with a nice sized gym. The food served in the restaurant was fresh and very nice. The staff were all lovely and friendly. We enjoyed our stay.

A special shout out to Sian on reception for being so lovely. I turned up at the hotel a little emotional after receiving some bad news and she was really lovely to me.

This was my second stay at the hotel. I think the deluxe room is considerably nicer than the standard room, however, the bed felt really firm.

Otherwise, the grounds and inside the hotel is lovely.

Beautiful old building with a grand entrance.
Once inside the rooms are in a huge maze of corridors in a more modern building.
Everywhere is very clean and the bedroom was comfortable but freezing cold. The radiator didn’t work and a plug in heater was brought in by housekeeping.

The restaurant was nicely furnished but had crumbs in our seats when we sat down. The table was sticky also.
It took over half an hour for two drinks to arrive and an hour for our one course meal.
Not impressed.
It wasn’t busy.

Lovely hotel, nice decor and facilities. We found the pillows comfy but the beds are a bit hard. Our room was cold so we asked how to put the radiator on and was told the heating was turned off so they’d give us a plug in radiator instead. We waited all night for one to be left outside our door as arranged, however only in the morning did we find that it had been strangely left round the corner from the door so we didn’t see it and had to have a cold room for our newborn to sleep in.

The main building is beautiful with lovely lawns and seating areas. The welcome was a little cold. Although we are De Vere Applause members, it was £100 cheaper to book through Expedia so we did- the woman on reception made it very clear we wouldn’t get our usual advantages because we hadn’t booked directly with them. All other staff we met during our stay were courteous and friendly.
The hotel is very large- almost too large and, as such, feels a little impersonal. The walk to our room was very long and, when we asked to move rooms due to being placed in an interconnecting one, the was dealt with swiftly but the walk was even further. Usually this would t be a problem but my husband was walking on crutches due to a broken leg. Luckily, the fire escape door was open which provided a much quicker journey to the car later. Food was good, creative and tasty but extremely expensive. We paid over £90 for bread and dipping oil, two main courses and a bottle of wine. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice however we did notice an unpleasant metallic taste in the water which affected the taste of tea and coffee. All in all a good stay but, if we returned to the area, we would probably choose somewhere else.
