Second time staying here and we will be back! We use it as we have family close by, its a beautiful setting, all amenities are well looked after to a very high standard, staff are superb, very friendly and polite, nothing is too much, rooms are a decent size, very comfortable and beds are great. Only drawback is not being able to get 2 double beds in one room, you can only book a room with 2 singles. Breakfast can be delivered to your room for £5 at a time of your choice, ours didn’t disappoint.

Stayed at The mere for a local wedding and travelled from Essex.
Lovely hotel and very friendly staff we only had one problem and that was the air conditioning stopped working during the night and we woke up with banging headaches . My daughter entered the room and said it was like a sauna in our room the very lovely maintenance guy said that the computer was reading 26 when the control panel said 19 .
The reception staff were not to sympathetic and said I could have walked to reception in the middle of the night . To be honest we just thought it was a warm night … I did have a headache all day on the day of the wedding so that wasn’t great! But overall great hotel

The hotel itself would be amazing with a refurbishment in the hotel and its facilities as the decor is tired. But I couldn’t fault the service, staff or food we had all was excellent. A comfortable bed is important and the bedding, pillows and mattress was extremely comfortable. Will definitely be returning.

Lovely hotel, had a very relaxing stay. Almost perfect except for a few small details. Firstly, their pillows are dreadful, far to soft, needed four to get any support. Secondly 'courtyard view' is code for car park. Finally, check-out was slow, but these are purely niggles. The hotel was as close to perfect as any I've stayed in. The bath was fabulous, show powerful, bed large and comfy, room large, very clean and well maintained, decor stylish, location quiet and staff generally great. Would happily recommend. Just be aware, guests in standard rooms do not get spa access included with the room rate.

Reception and check in was a nightmare - took about twenty minutes and there were only two people in front of me.
Room was fantastic, probably the most comfortable room I have ever stayed in.
Breakfast is what ruined it for me, nearly all the tables were empty when I arrived for breakfast and I was shown to a corner hidden out of the way where all I could see was a wall.
It made me feel as though my appearance wasn’t the look required for the restaurant even though I was smartly dressed; I was actually quite upset.

Stayed 2 nights at The Mere whilst in Cheshire from the south for my cousins wedding and it was worth every penny. Predominately a golf hotel, the property also has a great atmosphere for non golfers. 4 star accommodation without being pretentious, it offers a relaxed atmosphere, excellent breakfast and dining options, (we used the clubhouse), well appointed, comfortable rooms and an extremely good spa with treatments at an added cost. The staff were very helpful and friendly throughout the hotel. We ate and slept well, all in all a very good stay

Beautiful surroundings. Disappointed with lication of room, under 1st floor, not sufficient light, noisy as under flight path. The bed was so soft there was a big dip in the middle. Given the high quality of this hotel in general I was really disappointed with the room. The staff were lovely.

We were very disappointed with the grubbiness considering that this is a supposed four star hotel. There were fingerprints on the glass doors throughout the hotel, the main lift was again covered in fingerprints and the floor of the lift had disgusting stains on the carpet. The bedroom smelt of damp and the bedspread & carpet was covered in stains. Bathroom was OK. Unfortunately our experience has put us off staying at the Mere again. As mentioned, the premise of a four star experience to what was delivered could not have been further ends of the spectrum. I will not put any blame on the staff who were lovely but I am shocked that a hotel lacks such basic quality control to be able to put right such obvious lapses in standards.

It’s a lovely hotel, the staff were nice, the breakfast and spa were divine! It’s worth noting that the lake view is obstructed and they are golfing just outside your window. Also, the fine print does state (which I didn’t read) that there are additional charges to use the pool - so don’t be fooled into thinking it’s included.

This is the second time we have stayed here. The first time was 3 years ago and we remembered this as a beautiful luxury property. Though we had a pleasant stay this time, we were not as impressed. We were surprised to learn that a fee is now charged to use the pool/ spa facilities and up until the day before had been £15 pp/ per hour. We were informed on arrival this had been reduced to £15 pp for our overnight stay which we still felt was ridiculous and had not been clear when booking. Previously, if we were deciding to stay in the area we wouldn’t look past this hotel, but we will likely explore other properties next time.

tHE HOTEL ROOM WAS SPACIOUS AND CLEAN HOWEVER THE WATER did not drain away quickly from the sink or the shower. The toilet did not flush easily either.
The evening meal in the golf bar was only very average indeed. The duck spring rolls were like a farmfoods cheap starter. The chicken curry was also like a ready meal. I don't think this is nearly good enough.
The waitress spilled the poppadom crackers on the floor and didn't even clean them up.
Breakfast was better however I was never offered tea or coffee so overall a very poor showing from the staff service and food was mediocre at best.

Am I right to be slightly irked at having spent £1,300 on rooms and £200 on dinner that I get charged £1.50 for a tiny tube of toothpaste? Yes, I think so.

We only learnt that we would have to pay £15 for one hour to access the swimming pool each by email shortly before arriving. If we'd been staying longer we would've cancelled. We booked a double lakeside view room.
Lovely reception area, was nicely decorated for christmas.
The room was lovely and clean with a fridge and 2 bottles of water and small bottle of milk.
Their is a small selection of tea, coffee, pure herbal tea. It would have been nice to have more than just 1 hot chocolate sachet though.
The bed was lovely and pillows are very soft. The view from the window was lovely.
Their is a hotel tablet in the room with a few games on, internet access on and hotel information.

It is a nice hotel with good, facilities. They seem to be understaffed on reception and not know anything about other things in the hotel, like Xmas bookings. I didnt like the fact you had to pay to use the spa when staying in the hotel.

The Mere hotel - Give it a miss!!!

Disappointed. Won’t go back. Paid for a room with a view and got a room overlooking car park. Main lobby and restaurant area was cold. Brown’s restaurant was grubby with food and dust on banquettes. Waitress forgot about us after main course and wasn’t offered dessert until it was too late. Wife’s fillet steak was over cooked! Bath filled when using shower as plug mechanism was broken.

Beautiful surroundings and Hotel, our first night booked in we were in our lovely room in the evening and unfortunately heating wasn't working as we just had a shower and straight to bed as we were tired from a long day out..We mentioned it to receptionist and they said they will have it sorted, we came back that evening and they said it should be working, so we checked to make sure it was working and all it was blowing was cold air, luckily the receptionist rang our room and ask if everything to our satisfaction, ( we said no as heating still wasn't working, as we stood for 15 minutes testing it out) she said , no problem , i will upgrade you to another room straight away, I couldn't fault the service and professional manner they gave as

No heating, which is a normal requirement.

When we came to the room originally it was cold so I turned up the temperature on the thermostat which never reacted so I went to the reception and asked what they could do.
The woman who then came to inspect the room to see if I was doing anything wrong with the modem entered the room saying \"god it is cold in here\".
This then resulted in a room change. We then went to the second room which was also cold so they put an electric heater in the room to accelerate the heat whilst the room was actually heating up from a system reset she also said.
After leaving the hotel to do what we had planned resulting a room payment in your hotel, we came back to a warm room. I then turned the electric heater off (this obviously being a health and safety risk to leave on over night) to then have an awful nights sleep and morning getting out the bed for freezing intervals.
Heating is a normal requirement for any hotel let alone one of this high price!

Breakfast was OK, but service and cleanliness was poor (glasses were all cloudy with lipstick stains on some and we had to ask twice for a coffee.

Room was fine, as was breakfast although I have had better selection as only cooked breakfast buffet or limited continental breakfast options were offered. No other options provided which was surprising for such an upmarket venue.

Very disappointing was the fact that the use of the pool or gym is NOT included and was asked to pay £15 for the privilege. This was not disclosed beforehand and not in the booking terms or the option provided. This is the first time I have had to pay to use the pool or gym when I am a paying guest. I will reconsider staying again as this is unacceptable and misleading.

Our stay was wonderful. The room was so clean, the beds were comfortable . The shower was nice.

Afternoon tea was lovely.

Breakfast was superb .

Evening meal in Browns was very tasty, but the portions were small. We had a main, which was more like a starter. The desserts were lovely. We felt hungry afterwards, so shared a cheeseboard, which was disappointing . Slithers of cheese, for two it was laughable , for one it would have been disappointing .

We had a great stay, but probably wouldn't dine in Browns again for the evening meal, as it wasnt fulfilling

The hotel has the potential to be a very nice hotel but seems to be cutting some corners. The breakfast is awful. Both days were the same......bacon was like cardboard, obviously pre cooked then heated up when we arrived. sausage tasted like how i would imagine fairy liquid would taste like, the black pudding was inedible, again i would imagine it was pre-cooked then heated up. the only freshly cooked part of the breakfast was the poached eggs!!! terrible really for a hotel of this calibre. very disappointing. the spa jacuzzi was out of action with brown water floating very close to the main pool. A couple of the sauna rooms wasn't working either. the massage was average at best, just someone rubbing oil into your skin, not a massage! would i stay again? i don't think so.

Little getaway before baby comes. Room was great however I fell between the two beds each night and it wasnt that confortable. The hotel itself was great. Breakfast was decent however there could have been a little more option.
I would say its well worth the money though. The grounds are amazing and they have some great deals.

This is our second stay here - so that itself says how lovely we think it is! The last time being 4 years ago. The hotel itself is beautiful, the spa is relaxing and the staff are so friendly and helpful!

The rooms are really stunning, so clean and the beds are super comfortable! The views are second to none.

There was a couple of points I think could be improved:
The bars feel very “hotel lobby” - hard to describe but for such a stunning hotel they seem to be stuck in the past.
The tv in the room is naff.
The breakfast is a buffet - some parts were nice and others not so great, I think for a hotel of this standard an al a carte breakfast should be offered.

We had a very pleasant stay but if I’m honest we’ll try another hotel of a similar standard/cost next time.

For a 4* hotel we were left rather disappointed. The pool bar got our order wrong & shut at 6pm without no prior warning. The pool remained open and busy yet we could no longer drink.

Our dinner was then overpriced and again the service was rather poor in Browns restaurant. We then moved into the bar area whereby we ordered crisps (were charged on checkout) but did not receive these.

The hotel grounds and setting is great but the staff friendliness & attentiveness does not match. We feel for the money spent, it was not good enough and the hotel decor it was very dated.

Our second time at the Mere. Happy our meals were out in the \"atrium \" area as it is nice and bright. Last time we were in a back room which was very dark and no atmosphere. Only drawback is having to go outside to the spa area. Not nice when it is raining.

Gorgeous hotel and fantastic rooms, with amazing views. Comfy bed, good shower, very clean. Unfortunately for me I was in a room with a loud vibrating humming noise through the night so didn't get much sleep, and the noise from the adjoining room very early in the morning made it even more unpleasant. Great place if you can sleep through anything.

Great hotel with excellent facilities. Food good with various choices and differing price options. Spa facilities were superb all staff friendly and a good location next to Tatton Park.

The hotel is lovely but you can only book bed and breakfast which is not what you want when you have an early flight the next morning. Prefer the upgraded rooms as much nicer.
