Had a great stay at Statham Lodge. The room was clean, comfortable and very quiet, which made it easy to relax and get a good night’s sleep. The bathroom was also modern and a good size.

Room was very tired and furniture looked like it had been collected from the roadside. Very poorly cleaned throughout the room. Carpet was stained and dirty. Having a shower proved challenging as the tub was high and no grab bars to help you get in or out. The tub Matt was very old, moldy

The bar and restaurant was full of character and Liz the restaurant manager was very professional, friendly, knowledgeable and dedicated to making her guests stay special. The dinner menu was as good as any fine dining restaurant with game, fish and other options all cooked, seasoned and served to perfection.
We were also delighted to receive a complimentary treat to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Breakfast was excellent too with freshly prepared fruit on the buffet table, ad-lib coffee & tea and the cooked menu was prepared beautifully.
The general manager was also very helpful, friendly and couldn’t do enough to make our stay perfect.

We had 2 rooms for a 3 night stay. The hotel price was excellent value for money and which included breakfast and parking. The breakfast offered cooked options which were freshly prepared by order. All the staff were very friendly. The rooms were clean with modern decor and bathrooms and with quality beds and bed linens. There was ample parking. The hotel was set in pleasant grounds and conveniently close to the motorway and a great stopping off point for local attractions, villages and country walks. In short, a great hotel for the money.

I stay at The Statham Lodge several times each year as I have family in the area. They never fail to provide excellent value for money and a comfortable stay. The staff are excellent and everywhere is clean and tidy at all times. It has a homely feel that is missing from the big name chains and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and dependable place to lay your head :-)

Ideal location for our overnight stay en route from Scotland to friends further south. Close to M6 but set in quiet leafy grounds close to area with plenty of pubs/restaurants for dining out. Spacious room with comfortable bed. Traditional furniture with modern bathroom (shower over bath). All very clean. Basic toiletries and no hairdryer (apparently can request one at reception, very odd), but otherwise all facilities needed for a nights stay. Breakfast excellent with varied buffet for fruit, yogurts, cereals & juices plus great choice of hot food cooked to order & served promptly. Self service machine for good coffee (or wide selection of teas). All quality ingredients and very tasty, served in newly decorated atmospheric bar area with views of the gardens. Enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Lovely hotel located in a serene setting with ample and free parking. We enjoyed great conversation with the friendly staff, especially those in the beautiful dining room. The breakfast was cooked to order and to perfection…delicious! The room was very clean although a bit smaller than we expected but the bathroom was spacious and fully remodeled. It is an old building (squeaky floors, flight of stairs to bedrooms) but it has an interesting history and vintage furniture pieces placed about. We enjoyed afternoon tea served with a wonderful selection of sandwiches, scones and desserts.

The location couldn’t have been better — it took me less than 5 minutes to get to work, which was excellent. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, and I can only imagine how stunning they must be in the summer.
The communal areas, including the hallways leading to the rooms, are a little dated, but the positives far outweigh this. The food is excellent, and the customer service from every team member was outstanding — friendly, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. Housekeeping were also fantastic, and my room was spotlessly clean throughout my stay.
If the owner were to invest in updating some of the communal spaces, I truly believe this hotel could be one of the very best in the area, and they could easily charge more for the experience.

Nice enough place with good parking, but the food is peculiar. Rib eye steak swimming (and I mean swimming) in a strangely flavoured butter. No salad, vegetable, tomato, mushrooms or other accompaniment, just a side plate of chips. The starter was wild mushrooms on an inch thick hunk of sourdough. The mushrooms were nice enough, but the quirky \"marmite butter\" detracts massively. Umami doesn't need to be with umami. Just odd.

Stains on carpet in room and decor needs a ‘refresh’ paint but overall fine. Large comfy bed but couldn’t get radiator to get warm and duvet a bit thin now it’s going cooler. Tv fine. WiFi good. Kettle getting old and needs replacing. Basic tea/coffee/milk provided. Plenty of parking. Breakfast fine but in a ‘cold’ room. Pleasant staff. Shower very powerful .

When we arrived for check in 9.15pm with two children we were greeted with a wedding party and a DJ. This was a stop on a long journey and wish we had been told in advance so we could seek other accomodation. We didn’t get to sleep until around 2.30 once guest stopped walking through the halls. However we also seemed to be situated above the kitchen which industrial fans stopped after midnight and came on at 5.30 am waking us all up.
Breakfast selection was good. Fruit looked alittle sad, and the avo on sourdough was disappointing, with no sourdough available, over citrused avo so it didn’t go brown and a hair in one dish. Unfortunately we wouldn’t return even tho the room was spotless and comfortable. A B&B is good night sleep and something to eat which we had neither.

Our experience was excellent except 24 hour room service was advertised and when we arrived at 9:30pm after driving delays, we were told the kitchen was closed. We were staying for a wedding on site so booked as it was convenient. Booked and paid online including breakfast. We arranged for an early check in for 1pm and was told £30. We arrived about 1.35pm and our room wasn't ready, despite us paying, which turned out to be £20. Our friends called to arrange the same and were told it was free and could go even earlier from 12pm which is inconsistent. Then the receptionist asked me for payment, which was for the full reservation cost again which I had already paid. Good job I noticed or would have been charged twice for the room. Not a good first impression.
To be fair we only waited 5-10 mins in the end and were told our room was ready so not long. We then got ready and had a lovely day. It is a great wedding venue and it's nice to have a wedding outside in pretty gardens.

Had a great stay once again at this beautiful hotel. The beds are so comfortable, the rooms are well equipped and the breakfast is lovely. The staff are all friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We were a little apprehensive when we first arrived as there was a wedding in full swing. However we were not really disturbed by it and so it didn't spoil our stay. No doubt we will be returning again next year.

We checked in at 7.30pm, the receptionist wasn’t particularly friendly. Our room he said was accessed by going out the front door in reception then walking along outside to let ourselves into what I would describe as an extension. He could have explained the route through the hotel to our hotel but didn’t bother. The cleaners were friendly, serving staff at breakfast were very friendly, helpful and pleasant. Full English breakfast was excellent. Reception staff on arrival & check out were not particularly welcoming or friendly.
