First room given shower didn’t work permanently cold water that cascaded not from the shower head but out the side and bottom of the heating unit- window would not shut it was warped - second room was better but as with the first room dome light bulbs were missing or blown - breakfast which had a very positive mention on the hotel website was awful!!! No milk for the cereals or coffee no butter for toast no croissants as advertised all in all a shocking hotel and I wouldn’t want to stay there again!!!

There was rubbish under one of the side tables and the head boards were disgusting, the kettle would not click off unless switched off at the wall. Blinds were broken and the walls were badly in need of paint. The water did not get hot out of the tap. Staff were nice, but room was not worth the money, and breakfast consisted of a loaf of bread and a coffee machine.

Room was run down and neglected. The tv had 5 white stripes running through the screen. The furniture was worn out and battered. The carpet was stained. The bathroom was very poorly maintained. Stains and patches everywhere, a missing panel in roof above the bath going into the loft so basically a large hole. Cracked and broken and stained tiles throughout

Room was a good size, but it defiantly hadn’t been cleaned before i got there. There was dried poo inside the toilet, a empty shower gel bottle in the bathroom and hair all in the bath. Luckily i only had to stay in the room to sleep but it was really bad!

Was on reception was very polite and had no problem with my early check in.

The room was spacious and clean. The corridor was smelly - someone was or had been smoking in their room.

The breakfast room was adequate with a good range of cereals, toast and coffee. There was a boiler - but no teabags for tea.

Overall a good nights stay at a great price.

Firstly it’s worth noting the 1 night stay cost £31.50 so I don’t expect a 5 star hotel. Check-in was quick and easy and the room was warm & clean. The bed was comfy although I always take my own pillow which helps. To be honest the room is tired and in need of some maintenance; door lock difficult to operate, windows don’t close properly allowing traffic and wind noise in, desk fan with no front guard, shower rail broken, badly stained shower curtain. On the up side there is a kettle with tea & coffee, fridge, and TV. I can’t comment on the breakfast because I left at 05:00. I wouldn’t take the duchess (wife) but, at that price, I’d definitely stay again.

Bathroom was shabby and no hot water could be found in the sink but the room was clean and mattress comfortable. The blind in the room was broken so more light came in than was kept out but didnt bother me much. Staff was friendly and accomodating however the place stunk of weed but it isnt 5 star so downsides expeted

The location was excellent. I needed somewhere to break my journey walking along the towpath of the Trent-Mersey canal, and this motel is only a mile north of the canal, at the midway point between the Anderton Boat Lift and the end of the canal at Preston Brook. I don't think I would have been able to complete the walk without its being where it is. Facilities were good (like an Extended Stay property, with a kitchen; bed was comfortable; convenience shop nearby was a bonus.

Very tired room. Stains on the carpet and chips out of the paintwork. Broken blind. Room smelled musty. No lid on toilet. We didn't use the shower but the shower curtain didn't look as clean as it should be. The room needed a proper deep clean. Very basic hospitality tray. Towels were so small they wouldn't leave anything to the imagination!

We knew that at the room price for the area we weren't going to get a luxury experience, but it fell pretty short of what I'd really expect.

Not sure how this hotel has 8 stars. Very unclean. The sheets were dirty, other than being desperate to get the kids to bed we would have found another hotel. My husband slept on a towel with another over him as the bedding was dirty.
The bathroom had grime along the edges and the whole place just felt so grim. I imagine its perfect for a stag do or something where the guest are too drunk to notice.
The breakfast was some bread and a toaster with cornflakes left for you to help yourself. Not sure how that can be policed for cleanliness. Safe to say we didnt eat it.

Absolute shambles. Avoid this place! Front door glass smashed, the shower curtain was serverely stained, it was dirty, stank of cigarette smoke, no central heating, cold, noisy and the 'breakfast buffet' was an absolute joke. Nobody even on reception to complain to.

I arrived late and the host had taken steps to make sure that I wasn't locked out. The room I had was large and I could have had my own kitchen setup if I was staying longer. In the morning I was greated by friendly host and I was offered a free continental breakfast.

Check in arrangements were good and helpful, sadly the feel of the place was not good. In my opinion it needs a proper refurbishment, I did not feel comfortable sleeping in what felt like a dirty bed with stains over the mattress and a peeling leatherette old headboard.

I would not stay at this hotel again as there was a smell of excrement lingering in the air as their is a shared cesspit / sewer that has not been emptied at the front of the hotel, as it shares the pit with the garage next door.
My room was not cleaned/checked, cups not cleaned removed and when i checked out there was no one to give me a receipt at 0700... For £80.00 PN i have had better experiences in hostels in Vietnam!!!!!! Discusting. It should be reported to the HSE!

The reception appeared not to know the type of room I had booked. I had pre-paid but appeared to lack the knowledge of this, left me feeling uncomfortable.

Horrible breakfast- extremely cheap sausag and bacon and not well prepared. Cold coffee and no hot water to make tea.

The room was dusty and no effort is made to clean the coners.

The manager of this hotel couldn't do enough for us. He has been living on the premises since lock down and running the place single handed, doing an excellent job. The hotel sits at a busy junction but you wouldn't know it when inside.

Nice for a short stay

Property was fine for what we needed which was a single night stay in between two locations were were visiting. The single member of staff we came into contact with was very friendly and happy to help in any way. Seemed a really nice guy. Clean and tidy place with extra pillows available which was a nice touch. Location is a bit out of the way if you are looking for anything to do in the evenings you would need to drive but overall nice enough place

The Hotel was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Some of the furniture in the room had seen better days and spoilt the overall impression of the Hotel. The window had no curtains, just a blind, which was broken. As soon as the sun came up light streaked through the blind straight into my eyes, waking me up far too early. The breakfast was OK, just. Beans on toast, bacon and sausage, the only egg choice was boiled, cereal and jam and butter. Other than that it was adequate for a one night stay.

Arrived to ample parking and easy to find road signs.The person on the desk was extremely friendly and helpful with a fast check in.
The room was very spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Breakfast in the morning was ample with cereals ,fruit, bacon,sausage and boiled eggs and facilities for help your self toasting and coffee, orange juice and tea.
All in all a very nice one night stay that we would recommend.

Is next to a petrol station which has substantial building work. Nearby nice pubs for food. Pleasant surroundings. Anderton boat lift nearby. Hotel needs money spending on it.
Man on reception was very nice.
Had used rewards night so cost virtually nothing but I left my 9am following a terrible night's sleep. This was not the fault of the establishment, rather drunken party-goers who proceeded to actually fight, curse and shout at 1.53am directly outside our room. The calm man on reception did his best to calm the situation but I felt extremely anxious. I was expecting the police to arrive.
Breakfast was painful as one of the family's was there. It is not a nice place for breakfast. My daughter refused to eat.
Perhaps weekends are best avoided because of parties and weddings.
I wouldn't stay again.

I booked two rooms at the hotel for two of my engineers, there was building works going on until 8 at night then on top of this the rooms were not clean. I know the hotel is only a 3.5 but I would expect the rooms to be cleaned, I was advised there were rust patches on the bath and the bathroom smelt of damp, when the hotel staff were approached they stated \"what do you expect its only a 3.5 star\" the hotel was booked for 4 nights but I have had to move them after their second night. the hotel has refused to refund the two nights

The hotel was in darkness, I used a torch to find the door bell. The lobby smelt of burnt bacon. The man on reception was rude. The corridor was so dark I needed a torch to find my way to the room and to read the room numbers. The room was basic and again dark as 4 of the lights didn’t work. The cups had mould in them. The liquid soap was congealed and the dispenser was covered in black mould. I left without staying and the manager refused me a refund saying that I had made it all up despite me showing him the photos I’d taken in the room. He told me I needed to approach Expedia for a refund and walked off. My employers have taken this off their list of accommodations near to their head office as it is unsuitable. Please can I have my money back .

Cheap, cheerful but road noise is an issue.

Basic but does the job. I had to visit family in Cheshire and was looking for somewhere close. Cheap and cheerful was what I was looking for. First off was the noise level from the road. This is on a busy junction. We thought the windows were open it was that loud. Second the heating in the room isn't controlable by guests. The lights in corridor aren't on motion sensors so coming in late you don't have an lights. Breakfast options aren't bad and it's included in the price. It did for what we wanted, just let down by the traffic noise.

Staff and especially the manager went above and beyond to help us due to Expedia over booking the hotel and the hotel not having a room booked for us by Expedia even though Expedia sent an email confirming booking was a very distressing Experience which the manager handled with kindness and tact

Let down by Expedia & the Happy Guests lodge

Booked a room for Saturday the 22nd
September through Expedia . When I arrived I was told there was no room available. The hotel manager advised me that he was sick of Expedia as this keeps happening. I had to pay a further £18 in taxi fares to get to the nearest available hotel. As of yet there has been no effort the refund my money.

A jolly good hotel

Receptionist made you feel welcome, and showed you to your room,and explained the facilities in the room , which was very large a comfy sofa. so you could watch TV from their instead of lying on the Bed which was very comfy, after having a good nights sleep was able to get a bath before Breakfast which is shown to be Continental but also offered a fried Breakfast. Overall this was a great experience and would go back if I'm in the area again. Once again well done to the Gentleman that took care of us.

Check in was difficult due to error by Hotels.com. Error eventually resolved. First room we were allocated was unacceptable as there was a leak in the bathroom and it was flooded. Immediately offered a different room, which was acceptable. Receptionist (may have been owner) very helpful. Unable to have meal at hotel. Pub 'Hollybush' only 5 minutes walk away offered lovely food. Room was adequate and very comfortable bed. Breakfast plentiful.
