The dining room was poor. No one smiled!! Non-attentive, had to waive down staff for more of anything. Noises heard through walls. Heating that you couldn’t change made it difficult to sleep. Non intuitive thermostat. Bar staff were exceptional.
All in all, a 3 in my book.

Great location, right on the lake with its own private pool, pier and lake access. Modern design which is a contrast to the surrounding Italian style properties. Breakfast was great; huge selection, great quality and ability to eat in the garden with lake views.

With the exception of the reception staff, pool guy (forgot his name) and the managers in the restaurant the rest of the staff lacked 4 star service. Service on the roof top bar was slow and the staff that were around didn’t smile or engage well. Maybe it was just hot…

Our room was small and even smaller when we had an extra bed put in it. I know this was our choice, but to be then charged 40 Euro per night for the privilege was not a pleasant surprise at the end. This wasn’t hugely clear through Expedia when i booked.

Overall a great stay, but a few refinements would have made it a better value stay and better 4 star experience.

We loved our stay here! Everything was well kept and clean. The views from the rooftop bar were amazing. Likewise, the drinks and service! The staff went above and beyond to provide recommendations and helped my fiancé with arranging flowers/wine for his proposal. We couldn't of picked a better place to stay!

Superb experience

We had a 5 night stay at this wonderful hotel and everything was absolutely perfect.
The location is amazing overlooking the Lake with a short walk into the town.
There was a plentiful choice for breakfast and parking is also available.

Perfect honeymoon location

Hotel La Palma was the most perfect hotel for our honeymoon. It’s so close to the shops and restaurants, and the ferry that takes you to the islands. The sky bar pool was incredible and breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be back!

If you value beauty and tranquility then this is your place. Hotel La Palma was gorgeous. The staff were great and friendly. The location was perfect, you are able to see the coastline and the mountains. It is conveniently located near the train station so if you’d like to go into a busier area you have that option. My accommodation included complementary breakfast and it was so good! It had a lot to offer which was nice.

A very good hotel with good service

We had a very nice 3 night stay at Hotel La Palma.

The room (room 204) was spacious and had all the standard creature comforts including a mini fridge and a spacious balcony with a table and two chairs.

The mini spa (sauna, steam room and relaxation area) on the 6th floor was one of the highlights of the stay. The views were wonderful. Unfortunately the Sky Bar on the 7th floor was not yet open as we were there about 3 weeks before Easter and it was due to open for Easter. The whirlpool was open though and I visited it once.

The breakfast was excellent and had everything anybody can sensibly ask for. The items were regularly replenished. The service at both breakfast and dinner (we had one dinner at the restaurant) was good. The food at the dinner was fine but nothing special.

Everybody at the reception was friendly and polite. A special mention must go to one of the unsung heroes of the workplace. The cleaner lady at our floor was super friendly and polite. She was always smiling and saying \"Buon giorno\" to us.

If we come back to Stresa, Hotel La Palma is likely to be our number one choice.

My wife and I celebrated a special anniversary at Hotel La Palma. We booked a Junior Suite with a wrap around terrace that had a spectacular lake view. The hotel is very tastefully decorated and a relaxing environment. The staff is friendly and professional. Very close to all there is to see in Stresa. Wonderful breakfast service. We also have dinner one night and it was pretty good. We had a lake view balcony and we enjoyed a couple of drinks there watching the boats and people go by. My only complain would be that this October was unseasonably hot, and the AC was turned off for the whole building. The common areas were hot, and the room, a bit too warm for my taste. We did open the windows, but then there would be mosquitos coming in, and noice from the street. They did lend me a stand up fan and that helped me sleep a bit better.

Very lucky with the weather

We were very lucky with the weather!! It was perfect!
Our room was on the third floor in the corner, we had beautiful views from the side but with he lake and island.
The room was large, clean and comfortable.
Bathroom was very nice.
Breakfast is all what I would ask for. Service is great.
Dinner is good. The menu is too small.
All I ask for next time is cattle for tea in the room. I will come back if I can.

Relaxing stay in Stresa

Lovely clean modern Hotel . Rooms well maintained by friendly staff with good quiet air conditioning . Reception staff were very helpful and minimal queues . The buffet breakfast was delicious and varied and served in a bright room with choice of indoor or outdoor seating . Attentive serving staff and everything fresh and plentiful . The icing on the a cake was the beautiful pool and bar overlooking the lake and the majestic mountains and islands around it . The roof top bar had wonderful views although sometime little choice of seating / position for residents as many pre-booked groups visiting the hotel . Lovely G and T though !! Overall I have no complaints and enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing few days there .

We spent 3 happy days at La Palma.
The views of Lago Maggiore were just stunning and the location allowed a short walk to many restaurants in Stresa.

Our room was modern, up to date, and in perfect condition

The Sky Bar on the roof was a great spot for lunch, snacks, or drinks.

Staff was friendly and gracious; free parking a welcome bonus.

Our only issue was the stylish but impractical lounge chaises on our terrace.

They desperately needed cushions and their unadjustable design prevented them from being a comfortable spot to lay back and read.

We hope management will consider switching them for the ones out by the lakeside pool and adding cushions. Or, how about day beds? Now that would be amazing.

Nice hotel in a great location

This is a nice well located hotel on the front with views across the lake. Unfortunately the bed and pillows were particularly firm which caused a sleepless night. On my visit the hotel was busy with what appeared to be elderly tourists, the restaurant was very noisy. Overall I was disappointed.

I had two wonderful nights here. Great location and a great deal in the off season! I loved having access to the spa each night. The view from the sky bar and rooftop pool is pure magic.
I had a garden view with a patio, it was very pretty.
My only small complaints are that the bed was a bit sunk in and the room was too warm. I couldn’t turn down the heat so I opened the door at night. But overall, I was still very comfortable.

The photo on Expedia does not do this hotel justice. It is a very large modern hotel with an attractive facade and the sunbeds and pool on the roof are a very small part of the hotel.
The free car park was in the grounds of some derelict houses adjacent to the hotel but it was fine and secure with a barrier.
Our room was comfortable but we opened the balcony doors for some air overnight and it was very noisy at times.
There were no tea or coffee making facilities which we did expect for a hotel of the calibre and cost but there was a mini bar.
The breakfast was acceptable.

Very nice hotel, great location, very nice breakfast, unfortunately due to a warming climate the hotels a/c needs to be kept on longer than in the past. The room was very hot at night with the only way to cool leaving the window open which than allowed for outside noise. Without this one major flaw I would rate this a 5 star hotel.

Very modern clean hotel. No complaints in terms of staff but not enough air con areas - when the weather is 35 it’s nice to be able to cool off in the reception area - unfortunately this is not possible. Every door and window is open but all that does is attract the mosquitoes. Every single person we saw were covered in bites. I suppose being by the lake the mosquitoes will be there but if the hotel shut the doors and kept the air con on you would be able to enjoy a drink in the bar area.

The bar area in reception was not open all the time, the sky bar is open of an afternoon/evening but you are in full sun with no umbrellas so not very enjoyable.

Luckily we are early risers and were able to secure sun beds with some shade but many people had to resort to laying in full sun all day with many being left burnt.
It would be good if every 1/2 sun beds had access to shade.

The dinner menu at the hotel restaurant could do with more variety of what you expect to see in Italy.

Fantastic but noisy

The hotel is in a fantastic location and the pools are to die for! A great breakfast and very attentive staff.

The hotel is however very poorly sound proofed so just keep that in mind and bring some ear plugs if you can! Also even if you are on a higher floor- I was on level four- the hotels around may be holding very loud wedding receptions.

We chose a room with the view of the water- gorgeous as the sun came up. Lobby looked nice, didn't make it to the bar area but there was one, the hallways were a bit dated but the room was nice.

Check in was quick. There was not sense of urgency/customer service when we came down to ask a question (three staff members literally avoided eye contact) and the check out seemed too long (should be dropping off the keys and paying the city tax).
