Very tired and uncomfortable hotel

It’s a very rundown hotel and location is 15 minutes from S Bahn. WiFi very intermittent, staff just ignore you as you come and go. Bed very uncomfortable. I didn’t choose the hotel as friends did but wouldn’t stay again. No bar or restaurant as advertised.

It was a good compromise / good value if you look at price per night. Stays in Berlin are not cheap and the price here was ok. Hotel amenities were not perfect, but there is everything what you need.
Minuses: no hot water in shower, only a bit warm; the hotel equipment is old, using an elevator there is a trip to the past ;)
Pluses: price per night, not far away from the city center, good access to public transportation, friedly staff

Very poor experience overall - building was in poor condition to the point of not feeling like a safe or at all comfortable place to stay. There were exposed cables running across the walls in the bedroom, e.g. from the light switch up to the fittings. The glass in the lift was shattered. There was an unpleasant smell around the building and the cleanliness of the room was poor especially the bedding and the hard surfaces in the bathroom. Staff were fine but did not make up for the other issues. Booked for the area as was near to where family were staying, but absolutely would not book again.

Overall stay is satisfactory. The only issue is the bathroom. There is no curtain so water is everywhere in the bathroom after shower although it evaporates after an hour. And the ceiling of the bathroom is quite low. For me, I am 165cm so it is so far ok for me. However, it may be an issue for other travelers.

Old worn down hotel

The staff are nice, but the hotel is in poor condition. The doors and walls are wafer thin, you can hear every word said in the room next door.
If you’re out sightseeing all day, and you’re only using it for sleep, it’ll do.

Location of the hotel was great and I also liked the breakfast options. The room was clean but lacked in amenities. The bathroom heater didn’t work so it was cold. The sink was clogged and it drained very slowly. The bed was ok but not enough blankets or pillows.

Lots of windows. Big room. Good shower water pressure. A fan in the room on a hot day - but unfortunately, it was broken, and no replacement was available. Good breakfast, although restaurant was crowded at breakfast time! Parking very difficult. Friendly staff.

The only thing I wished they did, is opened the widows before we go into the room :) because it was a hot day .

Great location if your aim is to explore Berlin. And it's especially easy to reach from Tegel airport (109 bus to Olivaer Platz). The staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean.

The hotel has the perfect location in the Old San Juan.
After traveling through many countries, many cities; I have bee n in the best, the good, the bad and the worse hotels.
It hurts to be at a hotel that has so much potencial and minors things are not addressed to elevate the quality of the guest experience.
I wish something is done about it.
It would make feel much better as I am from Puerto Rico and would like to see the country progress to the maximum.

The True!

The front desk guy that attend to me, was a little bit rude. The cleanness was deplorable, really a shame. The carpet was so old and dirty, basically gray and you get a stained feet, mostly turn blackish :(. Finally the bathroom, auch!!!!. So avoid and choose other as you can. Ah, by the way, the WiFi, stinks, you know.

I needed a single room therefore I booked this hotel. it was perfect everything was good for this price. single room has a big balcony. it was the best part for me. breakfast was also not bad. I wasn’t expecting such a good hotel for this price. only problem was the elevator. they need to change it. it wasn’t functioning well.

Nice hotel with big tasty breakfast

Very nice, kind of old-fashion hotel. Reception and hotel staff was very friendly. Our room was basic, but clean and spacious. The buffet breakfast was the best ever - lots of choices, fresh, fulfilling and very tasty! The location is OK. It's about 10 min walk to the metro and about 20-25 min ride to the city center. By car it's about 15-20 min to Reichstag building. The only thing to note - parking! There's only metered street parking available. It's 1 Euro per hour or you can purchase Day Pass for 6 Euros at reception. It's free from 7 pm to 9 am. The problem is meters take ONLY coins! No cards, no bills! You have to pay cash at reception as well. So if driving, arrive prepared!

Different parts of the hotel seem to be in differing states of repair, but the fifth floor rooms and public areas are in excellent condition. The rooms are a good size, bed was comfy, bathroom was excellent, only thing missing was a kettle.
Breakfast is a wide ranging buffet with more choice than you might expect from an inexpensive hotel, staff were great, and I'd definitely stay there again.

All basic. Only if you get a cheap rate ok.
Lift is primitive from 1960 and accommodates 2 persons. Tatty.
Main stairway could do with serious renovation as it is the meeting impression of guests. Fronts doors not working currently. Bar is the breakfast room. No character German or otherwise.
Room and bathroom was large and ok. Bed and pillow average. Good heating. Drafts from windows meant putting base of curtains on window sill to stop drafts coming over the bed.
For two nights there was a contingent of Italian students who seemed not to realise the venue was an hotel and not a students hall of residence. Door slamming and shouting and running about etc. Not conducive at all. Especially at 2 am.
Breakfast room and food etc basic.
Staff were friendly.
Nice area. Quiet.
Near to bus and U-bahn and easy walks to Berlin delights.

Light in bathroom not working. Bad hotel room temodel. High curling in room, but super low ceiling in bathroom. Lamp next to bed, not working - phone was ripped out of wall - no lighting in bathroom. They sent someone to fix these issues, which took 3 hours. A bad thing when you just want to rest after a long flight.......considering we could not check in till 2pm. Staff ok, but hotel was way overpriced for what it it. Do not stay there! For a few $ more, I've found better- as was able to sleep upon my arrival.
Breakfast was plenty full, with variety.

Nice area; good option for its price range

The Hotel is in a nice area and I'd recommend it for its price range with a few caveats.
The main issue is that the Hotel is listed as having parking spots available for 6EUR/day, while this is definitely not the case; to make the matter worse, no parking houses are available within walking distance. Street-side parking is metered on weekdays and overall very scarce.
breakfast is somewhat modest, but adequate for its price.
The room was clean and in reasonable conditions, although renovation of the furniture might help.
The area is nice, with several restaurants, cafes and some shops within walking distance.
All in all, I believe you should book here without worrying much.

Not such a nice hotel reception staff poor!

Arrived at 11:00 am. Asked for a cup of coffee after a long flight, the receptionist smiled and told us that he was drinking the last cup of coffee that was left from breakfast.he Didn't understand that this was rude. Rooms are very clean but absolutly need some renovation. Hot water runs out quickly and in minus five degrees of Berlin that was not nice. Elevator is designed for midgets. Red plastic carpets on the stairs leading to the room look very cheap. Fair price but nothing more.

nice hotel, great breakfast, very clean. A short walk to Kurfustenfammstrasse to catch bus to Brandenburg Gate and tourist sites. Room was fairly spacious, good bathroom, very reasonably priced. Street parking outside hotel with meters but free on Sunday and nights.

The property is old. Room was poorly lit and had to use my iPhone torch to read the tourist brochures. Bathroom was very small and felt cramped. Heating and bed were comfortable. Wifi was poor. The gentleman at the reception was very helpful. If one is wanting to have a feel of how German living was in the good old days then the room and decor match it. Breakfast was good.

One night stay. Good breakfast in the morning. Hard to find parking around the hotel on the streets. At the time of visit entire street in front of hotel was ripped out and under construction therefore had to walk with all luggage to the hotel as there was no car access.

City Break to Berlin

Used Europa City as a base, It may not be the most modern of hotels but it was clean and comfortable. There was a decent breakfast evey morning, fresh towels were readily available and the room was spotless.
Free wi fi was available - we couldn't pick it up in our room, but there was plenty of availability on the ground floor.

I showed up at the hotel reception at around 11:45am with my luggage (neat, shaved and smiling) and was welcomed by Oh, check in time is 2pm. The attendant went on to say that there is an unattended luggage room, handing me the keys and showed me the way to it. It was indeed completely unattended and as far as I know anyone could leave anything in there. Indeed the hotel receptionist did not see my name, nor checked my reservation when she handed me the keys! I did take the risk and nothing happened. Hotel is overall clean, in a very good location but rooms facing the main road will hear traffic noise even when windows are shut! The real problem is on hot days because there is no air-conditioning. Breakfast is fine, basic not great. This hotel could still offer good value (depending how much you pay) but try to arrive past 2pm!

We stayed for one week, the hotel is in a good location near to underground and main shopping areas. Dated decor but clean and tidy and provides a good buffet breakfast. Good value for money. Free Wi fi a little inconsistent at times. Basic TV only English speaking Channel being BBC News 24. Overall good value, good sized rooms. Rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard.
2 school groups used the hotel when we visited not sure if this is a regular occurrence. This did not impact on our stay but may be a consideration for some.

Wifi was very weak in the room. The only place it worked well was the lobby as well as the conference room.

Best Hotel for the price range

What you pay for the hotel is absolutely worthwhile. The room is bigger than any Hotel I visit with the same price range. The breakfast is relatively good and the hotel is walking distance form U-Bahne, Bus stop, Theater (schaubuehne), Cinema and Shopping district. The stuff was so friendly.
Negative: I was in the fifth floor and the wireless was unreachable. You need to come downstairs and and sit in common room to get an access to the wireless (it is crowded.)

Great for those who'll be mostly out and about

Going away for a short trip to look around the city for its tourism attractions and Christmas markets, the hotel was used mainly for sleeping, relaxing briefly before, and breakfast. This was the ideal place for that weekend.

The breakfast that was put on every morning was lovely and staff were always clearing tables to free up tables - there was never anyone waiting to be seated though despite the busy time of year for the hotel - as well as getting the food plentiful.

The room was as expected with all the amenities you need for a short break (i.e towel, toiletries, warm comfortable place to rest), it was slightly annoying that the WiFi on the floor we stayed on wasn't working so had to use the weaker connection of floors above and below - this wasn't essential for the weekend though so only a small issue that can be acceptable if it is out of the hotel's control.

The staff on reception were very friendly and comfortable with various of languages for the visiting customers. If we visit Berlin again - which is likely - then we will definitely stay here again.

The good: Big room, good buffet breakfast and excellent service and location.

The Bad: Really small elevator (1 square meter). No curtain in the shower which floods all the bathroom.

Other comments: Nice shops (bakeries, supermarket and restaurants) with OK/good prices near the hotel. Average WIFI connection (OK for browsing, emails and Skype).

A little noisy at night with the bar downstairs, but otherwise a good place to stay..And its only a short walk from the centre of Charlottenberg, where there are a host of great restaurants and shops...

Beware - self parking means no parking in this case. We have stayed at other hotels in Germany that said self parking and that meant you parked your own car in their garage. Not the case here. Had to park 3 blocks away on the street. Hotel was old world charming; could use some touch up paint but ambiance was good. Elevator tiny!

I would certainly recommend this hotel for a short stay. The hotel isn't modern but in good condition. The location is central and close to U-bahn and the shopping district on Kurfurstendamm. The room was spacious and clean, good speed WiFi in the room. And the most important thing is the excellent service. The hotel staff was very polite and always ready to help.

Large but dusty room

The reason we chose this hotel is because breakfast is included. This hotel is conveniently located at Konstanzer Strasse. Another plus is there is an elevator, which barely carries 4 asian girls. But its better than no elevator. Maybe the hotel is old, the room is dusty, we dont even want to touch the curtain. It is quite noisy to sleep in this hotel as there is a bar at the ground floor. We can hear someone talking loudly.

The staff was friendly but both front desk people told me that they don`t drive and don`t know where i can park my car .... when i asked where i can park my car. The expedia representative from which i booked the hotel told me that the place have a surcharge parking. They didn`t know about it. Besides that everything else was ok.

Convenient location but tired hotel

We rented a large room with 5 beds and although I have never stayed in a hostel I am pretty sure this is what it would be like. It said safe in the room there wasn't one. There was a 20\" old style tv in the room and exactly 1 towel per person. No fridge coffee maker in the room. And no ice in the hotel. The elevator could only hold 2 people with a carry on 3 people no luggage. It may sound like I am condemning the place but it suited our purpose we were gone all day and needed a place to sleep. Also the breakfast was fantastic lots of meats,breads ,juices ,cooked eggs. So if the room is just a crash pad this place is reasonable.

Hotel location, good for bus, taxis , tube station & shops.

Overall the hotel was clean, alittle sad and needed modernising in the bathroom, but functional for what we wanted. Very large family rooms, with plenty of cupboard space. Very clean

No Safety Deposit box in the room or in the Reception area. The Reception Staff did offer to keep our passports but they were only stored in their cash box at Reception.

Breakfast was European, to be expected.

Location is good, as it is abt 2.5 blocks from the main avenue where you can take a bunch of public buses, even the X109 from Tegel airport. We actually went from and to the airport by bus.

For the price it was a bargain.

Improvements: boxy TV has to be changed, get a little bigger comforters, and thicker towels.

Rude manager spoils otherwise good impression!

I loved this hotel when I arrived, as it was in a great Ku'damm location, the room was big, and the facilities (though a little old and tired) were clean and comfortable. The cleaning staff and most of the others were really nice, and welcoming. I would have given a good review until...

The morning manager who does the morning shift, shocked my son and I by literally telling us off, for being in the dining room 15 minutes after the official end of breakfast at 9.30 AM! When I pointed out that we were merely finishing off our breakfast and coffee (the buffet having been feverishly tidied away on the dot of 9.30), the manager, instead of backing down, seemed affronted that I should take issue with him, and said that if we were not out by 9.30 tomorrow the dining room would be locked, as staff have 'things to do'!

After breakfast I found him in reception and tried to reason with him once more, pointing out that I have stayed in dozens of hotels (I am 50 years old) and usually breakfast is until at least 10 AM, and even then, this only means that breakfast is tidied away then. I have never in my life seen guests harried out of the dining room the moment breakfast finishes. But he was unmoved, so I said I'd like to make a complaint to the owner, but he merely replied that he had not been impolite to me, and said he would pass it on. I heard nothing back, so either he did not pass it on, or the owner also regards telling their customers off in full view as quite normal.

nice hotel close to most things

Good breakfast. Small elevator holds only 2 people. The staff was very helpful with any questions. Room was good size with 15 ft ceilings.which made the room seem even larger. .

Nicely located hotel at reasonable price

The location is quite good, very close to U-bahn station and in a reasonable vicinity of S-bahn and regional train station. Plenty of restaurants around, close to shopping paradise on Ku-damm street.
The staff is cooperative and friendly, rooms are OK. Overall, the building is old and premises need some renovation, but it's just fine if you're not in a honey moon travel.
Breakfast is good.
The internet connection was the only thing that really annoyed. It was unstable all the time.

Cheap, clean, comfy with free breakfast & wifi

This is not a luxury hotel, but it is clean and comfortable.
They include free wifi and also a free breakfast with your room, which is nice.
The reception staff do speak good English and are very friendly. Check-in is at 2pm, but they have a locked room to store luggage in, which was nice since I arrived at 9am.
As others have mentioned, the elevator is extremely small. I actually had to make 2 trips up as I was traveling with 2 very large suitcases.
The beds are very soft, and everything was very clean, but old.
My room had a small CRT TV (not flat screen) but I never turned it on anyway, so that's not a problem for me.
They are very well located in the West End (near the ZOB). Pickup one of their free city maps in the foyer. Mine already had the hotel marked, but just ask any staff member to mark yours so you know where you are.

I'd definitely stay here again.

next time, we would choose a hotel closer to a U station. Luckily, we took a taxi from the airport which was only about E18. the first morning, they had a water break and the water was shut off for a few hours. The next day, there was no hot water in the morning. The TV in the room and the tv reception was a joke. everything else was fine.

Good enough to stay (sleep) 2 nights

The hotel is located close to KuDamm street, U-bahn station and eateries.

Hotel staff is kind and welcoming.

I can recommend this hotel to travelers who need cost effective solution. Just to come, use shower (pressure and temperature stability is OK) and sleep.

The hotel definitely is not for people with high requirements for fancy design and big rooms:)
