Stay away from this hotel. It smells, the staff are rude, the carpet is like wood, the walls are yellow in need of paint and have holes in. The room only got cleaned once on a three day stay, the towels are rough and the amenities in the rooms don’t work

ABOLUTELY DISGUSTING / UNHYGENIC FOR HUMANS

Worst experience I have ever had in a hotel, and the fact you charged me 700£ pre covid for this is disgusting. I used half my credit and i still have half left. Absolutely awful service. Bed bugs crawling actively on the bed! A window above the bed DID not even close never mind lock. Safe broken! Shower you couldn’t use due to the way it was angled, didn’t spray down but straight up the wall?! The smell of fish & bin bags, and the carpets showed stains from binbags being dragged through the corridor. I wouldn’t even allow a dog to stay here! I will be reporting this to health and trading standards! How you even advertise this hotel!!! And not refund money is appauling! The fact you STILL hold my money due to cancelling from covid is an absolute liberty!! I HAD TO PAY AN ADDITION 300£ to stay else where in berlin!!!! As it was not hygenic enough for a human to stay in!!!

There was no internet through my entire stay. No alternative was offered nor an attempt to fix the net. Unacceptable as this place was advertised with internet so it was included in the price. Also, I was given the smallest attic room possible. The soup holder was unusable. TV service in English was payed. Just way under par for the money due to poor management !!!

Nice hotel, but WiFi \"broken\" for entire stay

Clean room, very convenient location in the middle of the Kurfurstendamm, great breakfast... But the downside was that the guest Wifi service was \"broken\" for my entire stay. When I asked the staff about this, all they could tell me was that it was not working, with no further explanation. That part of my stay was very disappointing.

The rooms are really dated and didn’t have a shower. There was a corridor alongside my room and when people walked past at night it felt as though they were in your room! Paper thin walls. Curtains didn’t draw properly. If they just modernised the rooms and reception/breakfast area it would be ok. No tea/coffee facility in the room which I hate.

Old building, unfriendly reception staff, noisy in the room as i can hear anyone moving outside, the 5th floor is like a mystery as the elevator is going only until 4th floor. To reach my room was like a discovery!!

A so so Hotel in a phenomenal location

It was just an okay stay. A great location but literally that’s it. The rooms are just okay & the hotel pics are misleading. The staff is friendly but just not happy with hotel & WiFi was spotty. The location is incredible, nothing but amazing high end stores near it. The hotel itself though, leaves a lot to be desired.

Although the hotel is dated it has several positive points, the location is great, 109 bus from Tegel Airport stops just outside the hotel, 2 minutes to the tube station and bus stop close by which takes you to Zoo bus centre where you can get buses to centre. Rooms are huge, plenty of space, breakfast good, typical continental and the staff are very friendly if you bother to talk to them. All in all, great 4 days....

Two nights at the City.

I enjoyed my stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was efficient. The included breakfast was excellent.
The hotel enjoys an excellent location,on Berlin's Kurfurstendamm,in the heart of the city's West End.
It's close to bars,restaurants,shops and the Underground,the Adenauerplatz station being a couple of minutes walk away.

I booked the listed room that is not pictured that is on the 5th floor that stated the room was small. The description was right that the chosen room was a little small for tall people but it was that was mentioned beforehand. Staff very nice, room clean and no problems. We were three people in two rooms. One room looked out on Ku'damm and had a wonderful high ceiling. It was large enough and adequately furnished for a get together after each day's exertions. The other (single) room was smaller and quiet.The breakfast buffet was good, and the staff were quick to replace items as they were consumed.

Nice hotel, fine for a quick stay. The bus station is right in front of the hotel and Adenauerplatz. It makes very convenient to get to the Berlin Zoo, the big train station Berlin Tiergarten, to Kurfürstendamm. Quite too, I slept like a baby. The room was clean, staff friendly, breakfast fine, cheap but NOT FREE as the description said. Happy over all with accommodations.

Terrible hotel in nice location

Positive: this hotel located in a nice place in kudam street, so close to public transformation and really nice neighbourhood.

Negative: dont trust uploaded photo on the booking websites! Hotel entrance shared with an apartment, very small lobby, old lift, no TV, no Internet at room (on 5th floor), very noisy room (I can hear my neighbour voice), dirty bath room, during my 3 night stay.

2 nights in Berlin

Arrived just as the sun was setting and Berlins Christmas lights began to shine. The hotel is located on a beautiful street close to everything. The Christmas markets are a walk away. I think it was about €7 in a Taxi from the Zoo train station to the hotel (although it's not a bad walk if you don't have too much luggage). The hotel itself is old. The elevator looks like one of the first invented but it works well. The staff were accommodating and helpful. They helped to pick sights and places for us to see while in Berlin. Breakfast was a great selection. Rooms were comfortable and tidy. Would stay here again.

The city hotel is in poor condition. There are 5 floors and the lift only goes to floor 4.
The room and bathroom were in average condition but small. There was no free wifi the television didn't work. The photos of the room on the website are not what I experinced.The cost for 3 nights was over £500 and no compensation for non working television

Better than I thought it would be

Staff was VERY friendly (very limited English, but they do well regardless) and did their best to make sure that I was taken care of. When I had to leave early in the morning and was checking out, the front desk lady as well as another lady who I suspected was the manager really wanted me to experience the breakfast. I was in a hurry and to get to the airport. They offered to box up my breakfast so I could take it to go. Felt bad for declining the offer, but it was very nice for them to offer that.

My room was very clean and had everything that I could possibly need for my stay. There is a very small safe in the room and it won't hold much more than a few cell phones. My Mini iPad would not fit in it.

Only issue to report is that whenever I flushed the toilet or took a shower, there was a very loud noise from the plumbing. The noise lasted about 5 seconds and continued every 20 seconds. Not a huge deal for me, but I can only imagine what the other occupants on my floor were thinking at 6 AM.

In conclusion, I liked the neighborhood, the staff was very friendly and helpful, room and bed was comfortable, and while it's not a 4 or 5 star hotel, I would highly recommend it if you need a place to Stay in Berlin that is safe, accommodating, and friendly.

Old, somewhat decrepit hotel in a nice area

The business model of this hotel appears to be to provide economical prices for a rundown hotel in a nice area. The hotel lobby is actually on the second floor (which they call 1 in Germany). Most everything in this building is old and in need of repair or replacement. The elevator only goes up to the 5th floor and my room was on the 6th floor (5 in Germany). I had to get off on the 5th floor, walk down a long, narrow, winding hallway with buckled floors to a narrow twisting stairway to get to my floor. The room itself was hot with a heater that had no controls for the guest. The furniture was old and scratched. My room had a chair with an armrest that had been repaired with duct tape (I'm not kidding!). The desk area had an edge that was coming apart and nails were sticking out. Nonetheless, the staff were polite and helpful, the bathroom was fairly new, the sheets were clean, the breakfast buffet was decent, and the price was low for this area.

A very basic hotel in an old building, but everything is working well. The location is very nice, stops for the bus to and from airport and u-bahn station is just few walks away. But if you are booking the cheapest room, be prepared that your room might be on the 5th floor, which has no elevator access and poorer wifi signal

This hotel had a very nice staff but the rooms had no AC, and the shower had a tilt window above it so if you were over 4ft tall you could not stand up in the shower. We had to kneel to take a shower. Not the most fun. Also no elevator to the 5th floor. Had to get off on 4th and walk down 3 different corridors to get to the \"secret\" 5th floor staircase which was a steep spiral. If you are older or handicapped this is not the hotel for you. On the positive side, the room was clean and breakfast buffet (included) was surprising plentiful and delicious. Plenty of meats, sausage, eggs, rolls, cereal, yougurt, cheeses, veggies, coffee and tea, and juice.

No airconditioning with 39ºC (100ºF) heat, no fans

When we arrived the temperature was 39ºC (100ºF) and there was no airco, when we asked at least for a fan, we were told that they had none. When we checked out the next day to move to a hotel with airco they pretended to collect the whole stay for four nights, fortunately we had paid cash only for the first night. The rooms are very old, the safe was loose, anybody could just take the whole safe and make off with it and furthermore, it was operated by a copy of the master key for all safes, which obviously defeats the purpose.
They also charged us € 14.98 in \"city tax\" but gave us no official receipt, just one receipt ticket that can be bought in any stationery store, and we were told that this could not be put on the bill like any other hotel does.

Hotel is very well connected via Metro and Bus service. You have a direct bus 109 from the Tegel airport that leaves you just in front of the hotel. The breakfast was above my expectations. The service was great. Room interiors can be made better. Overall total value for money.

I do not recommend this hotel

Our stay was just horrible. Our room was on the 5th floor, which is quite a hike (especially with heavy luggage), including small spiral staircase. There was no Wifi in the room, because it was simply too far away. The room was tiny with sloping ceiling and old furniture. The breakfast buffet first starts at 7, which is too late if you have to catch a flight in the morning. And there is no airport shuttle either, although indicated in the hotel description. I will never stay in this hotel again. A waste of money.

Great hotel to stay in Berlin!

Hotel is situated right outside a bus stop and close to the trains. Hence easy access everywhere!

The breakfast that came with the hotel was great. It had enough selection for one person to choose. The reception even allowed me to have a very early breakfast (at 6.30 am, they actually have breakfast open at 7 am) as I had an early flight to catch. Bless them!

Wifi was a bit dodgy in the room I was staying in i.e. room 104. I complained and they manage to fixed it. So that is good. However, it keeps disconnecting sometimes so that wasn't useful.

Room was very clean and serviced daily. Staff was super helpful and friendly.

I stayed for two nights at this hotel. I had a small private room with a private bathroom and shower. The hotel featured a key card entry. I enjoyed my stay. I would recommend this hotel to anybody seeking a small room in a location near the Kurfurstendamm retail shops. The reception was very helpful with providing me with directions to nearby locations. Overall I had a very pleasant stay.

The good points were that the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast although just about ok it was a bit limited and tired - no fresh coffee for example - breakfast room was very small and could be very busy so little privacy - our main problem however was that when we arrived we found to our horror that although we thought we were booking into a 3 star hotel the room we were given met neither the written or on-line photo descriptions - we were provided with a very small room that was only just big enough to fit a double bed and a small side table and wardrobe - there was no armchair as the photo had suggested so for the 6 days we were there we had to use the bed as our chair - the bathroom was very dated and generally the décor was very tired throughout the hotel - carpets were threadbare, wall coverings had seen better timesand we had no view as we overlooked an inner quad that overlooked the kitchen with all its smells - in short were/are disappointed !

Good for some, not good for others

This hotel is in a great location. It's close to late night bars and food; the U, S and buses; within walking distance of some sights; is less than a 30 min bus ride to Tegel and around the same into Mitte. It was quite cheap too. You can buy Berlin Welcome cards at the hotel. On the down side the cooked breakfast is on the bland side. My single room was located on the fifth floor but the elevator stops on 4. There were no curtains on my window which meant I always changed in the bathroom, and always had trouble sleeping due to the light. The promised free wifi is unreliable on the top floor so you might not be able to get it. The house keeping was very basic (seriously, one satchel of body gel for six days?). And the English skills of some reception staff wasn't as high as I'd expected, although I usually got answers to my questions. The 2pm check in was inconvenient although you can leave your luggage at reception. Hotel security was also a concern during the early evening hours until the upstairs doors were locked, because to get in all you have to do is hit a buzzer then walk straight to an elevator on the ground floor. The reception was on the first floor. That said, the staff were friendly and I wouldn't rule out a return visit. Next trip to Berlin though I will probably look for something a bit more upmarket. If you are fussy I would stay away from this one. If your prime motivator is price and this is the cheapest on ofa then this hotel should work for you.

Cheap Hotel - Get what you pay for

Very unimpressive. This is a 2-star hotel at best!! Don't be fooled. I had no issues involving check-in, staff, etc. but this hotel old, small, and in need of massive upgrades. I stayed on the second floor, directly across from check-in. The entry door to the rooms looks as if it was recently broken in to as evidenced by the broken wood in the door and the new wood pieces that have been replaced. This door could not be closed all the way anyway so it really didn't matter if a new lock system had been put on the door. The floor of the hallway is carpeted over old wood that gives as you walk along it. My room had a strong smoke smell and the bathroom was in severe need of an upgrade. The hotel is located very close to the upscale Ku'damm. So you are within waling distance of a great area for food and shopping. Other than the location there was not much this hotel would offer for me. Would not stay again.

Great place to stay

It was an absolutely great place to stay: friendly staff, early check-in, clean room and wonderful location & neighbourhood. A definitely suggested place. Yeah, complimentary breakfast was much better then expected (I would rate it 4+: comparable to a 1-2 higher level hotels). As cons might be considered: a bit old rooms, furniture and bathrooms, but everything worked and was clean, so that wasn't a problem. Internet was really good: something really important on a business trip. So, once again, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfortable facilities at a more then a reasonable price.

You get what you Panay for

I wasn't expecting much com this hotel being that it cost little to no money. I read previous reviews so I expected what we got. A very small room on the 5th floor away from everything in the back corner of the hotel. The only issue I had was the room smelled like people smoked inside and it made me sick since I am allergic to smoke. I asked for no smoking and I am sure that wasn't it. The only other issue was, breakfast was pretty bad, but again... You get what you pay for.

City hotel am Kurfuerstendamm

The hotel has a very nice lokation. It is a bit konfusing when you first arrive because it is also an apartment building. First we where given a quite small room with separate beds, but we went back down to the lobby an asked for another room with a doubble bed. The staff was very helpfull with this, and we got a much better room. There's a big differens between the room's quality. Breakfast was good and varied. Nice hotel if you don't expect to spend a lot of time there.

The hotel is old, reception in the 1st. floor and the room in the 4th. To get to it you have to go throught a laberynth. The room does not even have a phone; the bed is dug-in the structure of a sofa. The space in the room is too narrow; there is no table or desk to write something; there is a lack of maintenance. It is rated as a 3 star hotel; 2 would be appropiate. The only good thing is the breakfast buffet, included in the night-rate, and the ubication of the hotel, in one of the most exclusive zones of Berlin, with many luxury stores for shopping.

My key card stopped working during the evening, I couldn't enter my room after the reception had closed. No emergency phone number. Worst hotel experience ever! Room itself was extremely basic. No curtains and you couldn't stand up in the shower because of a slanted roof. Only offered a voucher, no refund.

Demasiada engañosa la publicación del hotel. Te dicen que puedes quedarte en el piso X y es más barato, luego al llegar te dicen que no hay acceso a ese piso para luego acabar pagando otra cantidad adicional para poder quedarte hasta donde si hay acceso, y por último, solo reciben efectivo.

Absolument horrible, un véritable \"trou à rats\". Chambre de 15 m² sans rien, pas de TV, pas de frigo, une seule lampe de chevet au mur, pas de dossier pour les lits, salle de bain minuscule, moquette élimée, etc. Honteux de louer cette chose pour 78 euros!!!

Un des pires hotels en Europe. Staff pas friendly chambre salle et avec de mauvaise odeur. confort moins que basic pour 230 €/ nuit meme la gamme Ibis est 100 fois mieux. imoossible de payer en CB. honnetement je deconseille

Auch wenn es viele schlechte Bewertung hat fand ich es nicht so schlimm wie viele behaupten … der größte Teil davon stimmt abzulut nicht
Ok .. es ist ein Altbau altmodisch eingerichtet aber es war sauber
Es kann nur modernisiert werden wenn viele Gäste kommen also gebt dem Hotel eine Chance

Im allgemeinen war diese Unterkunft eine Zumutung.
Der Preis rechtfertigt nicht alles.
Als erstes kommt man erst gar nicht rein ins Hotel. Ohne Code geht die Tür nicht auf und den bekommt man erst nach dem Einchecken.
Ein andere Bewohner in diesem Haus hat uns die Tür geöffnet.
Die Rezeption ist dann im ersten Stock. Die Treppe dort hin hatte mindesten 5 lose Stufen, meine Frau und auch eine Andere sind gleich gestolpert, und das mit Koffern in der hat. Sie können froh sein, das nichts passiert ist.
Dann standen wir auch dort vor verschlossener Tür. Ein Schild sagte uns, wir sollten eine Handy Nummer wählen, dann würde jemand erscheinen. Kam dann auch jemand irgendwann (15 min).
Das Einchecken ging reibungslos.
Nach dem wir die Zimmer inspiziert hatten wollten wir eigentlich wieder auschecken. Alles in den Zimmer war verwohnt, alt, es roch sehr unangenehm. Den schlechten Geruch haben die Betreiber mit Spray versucht zu überlagern, aber das hat es noch verschlimmert.
Matratzen vom Bett durchgelegen, Kopfkissen waren innen klumpig, wir haben uns unsere T-Shirts unter den Kopf gelegt.
Steckdosen ohne Funktion, offene Kabel, Dusche spakig.
Teppichboden klebrig, Fensterrahmen vergammelt.
Die Fotos im Internet sind eine Frechheit, eine sehr guter Fake und wir sind darauf reingefallen.
Das einzig Gute war das Frühstück und die Bedienung Maria, die hat das ganze aufgewertet.
Ich erwarte eine Entschädigung für das was sie dort vermittelt haben.
