Easy to reach hotel a stones throw from Savignyplatz. The rooms are quiet, and good for a short stay. The building is very old, and there are other businesses and residential flats in the same building. Check in is very simple if you speak German.

not sure when pictures were taken but red carpet is now light orange. smells gross at entrance. steep stairs. service was only good enough. not rude but definitely didn't want to be there.

shower was like a foot and a half off the floor. water pressure and temperature were great though. maybe add a curtain or sliding wall so if people are traveling with family they don't have to see dad's weiner.

room itself was big for what i paid but still not worth it since it smelled like stale body odor. ceiling is breaking down because of poor ventilation for shower.

bed is just springs and fabric. slept with open window to get the room cooler and get a better smell in. luckily there area is quiet. mostly. bring earplugs just in case if you're a light sleeper.

5 minutes from Savignyplatz metro or bus stop.
Good dining options and cafes. Escada super market across the road.
Room in photo and room given were totally different, feels cheated. Would not have booked if the original photo was shared. Booked seeing big bed in photo, but they gave me a small room and single bed. Toilet it says private in room selection while booking. My option given was to use a shared WC.

You get what you paid for

We booked the 3 beds room for 5 nights.

The shower is in the room with the beds. There is no proper bathroom.
There was no hot water during the entire stay.
The toilets are shared.
A live music bar is under the room... We did not sleep until 4am on saturday. This was known to the receptionist but did not offer any reparation...

When we arrived at the hotel, the staff required us to pay an additional fee which was not indicated in the booking. It was not reasonable so we did not want to pay. The staff insisted that we needed to pay, and she did not allow us to cancel the booking. We insisted not to pay. It took one and a half hours until she allowed us to check in. (She does not speak/understand English at all.)

We thought it was cheating to charge an extra fee when check in.

Moreover, the whole building is dirty. The carpet at the corridor is smelling. The environment is noisy. There are several bars next doors, so drinking, laughing and music sounds are very loud until 2-3 am.

Unfortunately, english isnt spoken there at all really. I was able to get by with my broken german. Person at front counter was slightly standofish and grumpy in the morning, but by mid day, she was very nice. Place was alright, but very noisy outside. Considering the price, Not bad.

Do NOT stay here

Do not stay at this hotel. Although it has a central location and is next to the Ku'damm with excellent transport links, we arrived to the following after paying over 200 Euros for the first 2 nights of our stay:

-No air conditioning in the room
- The room was not ensuite as you had to use a public loo with others
- No hot running water, unless you wanted to get the key from reception which again would be used by others
- Pillows and bed - poor
- Decor was awful and seriously needs refurbished, as they certainly charge enough
- The reception (although says it is multilingual) didn't clearly understand English, but if you knew Russian, keine problem. :)
- The noise within the hotel started about 6:30 a.m. with the cleaning...:)

I've travelled extensively over the world, but this is one of the worst places I've ever stayed and rarely write reviews.

Serious customer service issues and low standards

I checked in late at night around 10:15 pm and on my check out day the lady at the reception desk rejected my request for an extra 1/2 hour to an hour to do the checkout at 12 instead of 11. The cleaning guy was argumentative and ready to start raising his voice on me and it happened once directly and once the next morning on my arrival when I asked for soap and shampoo in my room which was only very small pack of each. Imagine they even argue with customer and themselves when people ask for shampoo and soap and another lady at the front desk gave me a shocking answer that you have to go buy it yourself!!
There’s a bar right downstairs and beneath the hotel that hardly allowed me to sleep until almost 5 am in the morning due to its very loud music that was shaking that whole so-called hotel.
Unlike what I was promised by Hotels.com my room didn’t have a private washroom and I had to go to the end of the corridor to use washroom each time and the shower in my room was very uncomfortable due to its height and step to get in and out inside the room and I haven’t showered in 3 days due to that hazardous height and narrow shower size!!
I do not recommend this so-called Hotel Pension to anyone in overall.
Despite all their deficiencies, they at least can be hospitable and polite to people but that even seems to be difficult for them.
Since when you show attitudes to customers that have paid to be your guest for a few days!!? Where was the customer service and respect!!?

Once and never again!

When I arrived after a 5h trip, the lady at the reception told me, there is no hot water but she would give me a free breakfast. I was too exhausted to look for a different hotel at night, so I decided to stay. I come into the room, it is tiny like a jail cell, cold, with a sink and small shower. NO Toilet in the room. I told the lady I am deeply unhappy about that and she said I booked a single room without a toilet! I denied that. She didn't even try to do anything about that or give me a different room.
4 am, people start clanging around, slamming doors. It was worse than a hostel. Never again.

Not same as photos but comfy enough

I don't know if Pension Cortina has rooms like it shows in its pictures, but what I stayed in was a bit different. Of course, I chose the hotel for the price and the fact it was right next to an S-Bahn station, but I am curious where those rather nice looking rooms were.
The room I was given was basic but it was comfy. The windows opened wide and the shower was very good.
As I said, Pension Cortina was right on a train line direct to Berlin hbf station, and the immediate area is very nice too.
What really let Pension Cortina down for me was the appalling WiFi. When it connected it was slow and it rarely stayed connected for more than a minute. I really struggled to get much of any signal there, tbh.
If you just want a place to sleep then Pension Cortina is fine for its cost. If you need internet then I'm afraid to say it might not do for you.

They double-booked my room and made it so I had to book another hotel for a night before I could check in. Then they gave me no refund. They do not speak English well at all, and so do not expect to be able to communicate unless you speak German.

Simple but comfortable, excellent location

Had a single room, was basic but more than sufficient for what I wanted. Shower and sink in the room with a shared toilet just down the corridor.

Location is excellent, just around the corner from a station on the main S-Bahn line so there are trains every couple of minutes from early in the morning until late at night, taking you directly to most of the tourist attractions etc.

This Hotel belies first appearances, the rooms are very clean, comfortable and economical. The buffet breakfast good value for money. The really good thing is location, less than 100 metres from Sauvigny Platz U Bahn. This makes most central Berlin attractions within half hour travel, rail and foot.

My single room was on the 1st floor above a bar that plays music until 5am on Friday nights and music could be heard all day on Thursday. The room was fair for the price and location was just a 7-10 minute walk to the train stations. The WiFi didn't work from the room either!

Beware! Hotel NOT as advertised! Avoid this hotel!

Beware! Hotel had no hot water for 4 days & did not offer credits or refund. Had no English speaking staff as advertised & internet was not working. Claimed no hot water or internet service was not their fault so no credits or refund. \"Manager\" is offsite & only way to contact him is through email. Sent 3 emails complaining & asking for credit or when services would be restored but no response. Checked out early but receptionist could not refund the days not used since payment is required at time of check in & \"only bookkeeper\" can issue credits. Not lighting in stairwell up to lobby on second floor, dangerous coming & going at night in the dark. Pictures not accurate of rooms or facilities, no help from staff, listing should be removed from Hotels.com immediately. Finally had to challenge charges with credit card company to get my money back.

No toilet in the room......

I didn't like the location of the room. I was in room 18 which is next to the check in desk so I heard everyone outside like they were in my room. The room had a shower and sink but the toilet was inconveniently located down the hallway and around the corner which gave the impression that most guest in that spend the night in that room probably piss in the shower or in the sink. I would not stay here again and I would not recommend it.

Hotel is clean, near shops and bars etc although hotel is basic, the toilet is shared with the rest of the floor at the end of the corridor. The other problem is that the reception is advertised as 24 hour but isn't as I discovered when I tried to check out of my room, I had to leave my key under the counter.

Horrible experience. Hotels.com listing shows that there is in room a/c, and there is not. It's HOT. You have to have 3 keys on a key ring to get into the building and your room. Very inadequate property and horrible service.

It was a horrible experience. There was nobody in the reception for check in and I hve to wait quite some time before somebody popes up. The wifi did not work for the entire three day of my stay. On informing the reception they told, they cant do anything, its managed by their boss. The people does not speak or understand english at all which gave me hrs time to communicate anything.

The hotel is fine. It's located near the Savigny Platz which makes its sooo comfortable and easy to travel in Berlin. Berlin Zoo is only one S-Bahn stop away, Berlin Hauptbahnhof 4 stops away. The street it's located on is kind of China town with many many little and big Asian restaurants, also Italian places. I loved it!!! The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, though they all have a little trouble speaking English. Not my problem, but I noticed it. The room was clean, very small with a huge window facing the Innenhof. It's good enough to spend a night or two, but no more. Overall i did like my two nights in this hotel and would come back. Because it's all about location!!!

I was happy aboyt the silent room on the first floor. But I wasn't happy because the WC was shared and it was at the other end of the coridor (not very comfortable if you go in the night.
The room windows were exactky above 3-4 very big rubbish containers which smell quire nasty if you open the windows in attept to try to alliw \"clean\" air to come in.
If your room is on the first floor you can't get any Wi-Fi or Internet...unless you go to the second floor at the reception area.
All the hotel is looking with old vi es and quite sad, dark rooms. It definitely needs some refurbishment AND NEW CARPETS, DOORS, ETC. I had the feeling that I am in 1930-s before WW2 time.

THERE ARE SO MANY LIES & DISCREPENCIES IN THEIR DESCRIPTION OF THIS HOTEL ITS ALMOST LAUGHABLE (AS LONG AS YOU DONT FIND OUT TOO LATE) & IT IS DEFINITELY ILLEGAL- TO MISREPRESENT YOURSELF SO MUCH IN AN AD! I have been traveling around the world for 15 yrs now & i have NEVER experienced WORSE- everything- in my life! I dont usually take the time to write a review like this, but in this case, i just dont want anyone else to find themselves in the place i did here! Basically trapped!
Ill just go through the lies 1 by 1:
1) NONE of the rooms have hair dryers (let alone a 'salon') like they advertise!
2) Unless you bring cash to pay for your ENTIRE stay- you are going to be sharing a tiny gross toilet w/ your entire floor! (A toilet, which also doubles as a smoking room) No matter what it says online, no cash= no toilet (as i was so kindly told by the management)
3) \"Multilingual staff\"? HA- NO!!!! None of the staff at the front speak any english, & the manager speaks very broken english- thats IT! & you are likely to be scoffed at if you dont speak dutch or german!
4) 24 hour reception- NOPE! They shut out the lights & close the doors around 11pm to midnight every night!
5) Internet in rooms? NO! Youre lucky to get a signal in the \"lobby\"- by which i mean 2 chairs in the hallway by the check in desk! No internet in rooms at all! & i had 2 different rooms in different areas… neither of which had wifi!

A weekend getaway in Berlin I booked here at Pensione Cortina in the Savingyplatz neighborhood.I have stayed here before so I knew what to expect.It is like the name says this is a budget place. You get a clean room at a decent price. Extra frills you won't find here.The internet connection for your device only worked in a small waiting room next to the front desk.In addition TV reception was weak and the sound and picture broke up. I hope the ownership corrects these electrical issues it is a minimal demand nowadays given the times we are living in. I didn't try the breakfast this time- it used to be complimentary at 7 euros one can find better options outside the hotel.

Good location but not the best hotel

On first view the hotel is in a good location only two stops from the Tiergarten and four from Hauptbanhof station which is the central station. Savignyplatz is a nice area too with restaurants and cafes. However the downside is that the room I was given was not the one I had booked, I booked a double room, expecting a double bed, when I got there I was given a room with two single beds separated, the other much worse downside was that I did not have an en-suite but instead had a shower practically next to my bed and a sink, I then had to walk down the corridor to the toilet that was shared with other people who also did not have a toilet in their room. I asked if they could offer me a room with a toilet but they said there was nothing, this was a bit of a let down and I think it should be made more clear that this may be the case when staying here.

Nostalgia has a price!

I last stayed here in 1985 and it was OK as a B & B for the time. I thought it would be nice to go back but standards have moved on in 30 years (plus I'm older and more spoilt now!). The front desk lady was at first not very friendly and queried our request for 2 extra pillows \"you already have 2\". However the room was clean, the bed comfortable, the bathroom albeit small was new. The wifi at first did not work and she could not help but overnight it recovered. You can get higher standard places for not a lot more cost so we would not stay here again.

A basic no frill pension in an older building with an elevator that may not go to every floor. Luckily the rooms and reception area are only at most two storeys from the ground floor. Location is excellent in the Savignyplatz area and just around the corner from a S-Bahn stop. There are plenty of options close by and I did not bother to get their breakfast at 5 euros.Recommended as a cheap and no grill option.

Das Hotel ist nicht feudal, aber es ist sauber und der Preis war gut. Es ist auch in ein guter Nachbarschaft, mit viel zu tun und gut offentlich Verkehrsmittlel in die nahe. Ich würde es emphalen.

This hotel is basic and fine. It's not fancy in any way, but it's clean and in a good neighborhood with interesting things to do as well as good public transit to get to central Berlin quickly and easily (as long as there's no transit strike!). For the price, I'd recommend it.

Old-fashioned, noisy. Free WLAN did not work at first, because router had been programmed incorrectly. Hotel staff was not knowledgeable. I had to set up DNS service manually in my computer. No table to set the computer. Small TV set (not flat screen), essentially useless. Toilet did not flush properly. Reception desk on 2nd floor without elevator. Had to carry the suitcase up two floors.

STAFF NOT HELPFUL

The reception lady was not very friendly, helpful or could even understand English. She was so worried that we have breakfast and not paying that she was checking all the time if I was using something from the kitchen, and I had no intention to do. Maybe a more friendly approach will help.

Very good hotel we liked it but the area is full of parking problems even worse than the English, parking was very expensive and we was exploited - the area was full of eat in and take away food shops most of them empty, if we was to visit Berlin again we would park on the city edges compared to East London Berlin was very expensive, The Hotel was fine but I wouldnt go to Berlin Again the street life was dull

Right next to Sauvinyplatz subway

Great location---u can walk to the Berlin Zoo or Tiergarten---and next to the metro. Breakfast is so-so. The neighborhood restaurants and bars that are located under the S-bahn are fabulous. Its near the Kempenski and right in the smack of Charlottenberg. Hotel is kind of weird---you have to use towells for 3 days; but the owners are very kind and nice. I did not get a toilet in my room but kept my mouth shut.

A steal and real value for money

The location of this hotel is excellent. Transport services to the Reichstag area are very good and the area the hotel is in has lots of shops and interesting cafes. We really enjoyed our stay and had no problems finding parking in the area either.

Not the best but also not the worst

Not the worst hotel I've been in, but not the best either. Room was right next to reception desk so I was disturbed by receptionist talking until 11pm. Also seems to be used for school excursions, kids were noisy. Also, the cold water kept on switching off continuously in the shower so I almost scalded myself several times. BUT the rooms were clean and comfortable, the internet worked fine and breakfast was good.

Great location. Within walking distance of trains, the zoo and in the main shopping area of West Berlin. Hotel was clean but hallways are dimly lit and internet was not working 1st nite. The staff does not speak english but they do try hard to be understood. Request a room in the back as the hotel does sit on a major street with lots of traffic noise. If you are on a budget and don't want the \"extras\" this is a great place to sleep in Berlin.

Die Lage des Hotels ist sehr zentral, in unmittelbarer Nähe sind die S-Bahn, ein Supermarkt und viele unterschiedliche Lokale auch zum Kurfürstendamm ist es nicht weit. Ich hatte auch das Glück, ein ruhiges Zimmer in den Innenhof zu bekommen, Zimmergröße und Ausstattung waren ausreichend, ein größerer Spiegel bis auf den über dem Waschbecken, wäre nützlich gewesen, aber für diesen Preis kann man keinen Luxus erwarten.
Frühstück habe ich nicht konsumiert und bis auf die Rezeptionistin am Anreisetag kein Personal gesehen. Für Menschen mit körperlichen Beeinträchtigungen nicht zu empfehlen, da die Stufen, die zum Eingang führen, über keinen Handlauf verfügen und auch in den ersten Stock eine Treppe zu bewältigen ist.

Direkt unter dem Hotel gibt es eine Bar mit Livemusik täglich bis 03.00h/04.00h. Das Hotel ist ringhörig, was dazu führt, dass man nicht schlafen kann. Dass Personal hat nicht mal nachgefragt, warum ich vorzeitig ausgecheckt habe.

Mein Aufenthalt ging über 2 Nächte. Länger kann ich es auch nicht empfehlen, aber für einen kurzen Aufenthalt war das Hotel in Ordnung. Freundliches Personal, perfekte Lage. Ich hatte ein Einzelzimmer gebucht. Es hatte zu meiner Überraschung keine Toilette im Zimmer, aber eine Dusche und ein Waschbecken. Ich hatte eine tolle Lage im Haus, also mein Zimmer war sehr ruhig gelegen.

Katastrofe “hotel”

Hvis du er til høj techno hele natten, så er du kommet det rette sted!
Dårlige værelser, fælles toilet på gangen og diskotek i stueplan, som spiller til kl.5 om morgenen. Selv om vi fik lov at flytte fra 1. Til 2.sal den sidste nat, var det stadig som om, vi var på disco.
Småsur betjening og jævn dårlig standard på alt!

Vi var indlogeret 5 mennesker, 4 voksne og et barn på 8.
Vi var tilfredse med hotellet/pensionatet der var rent og pænt. Vi havde et værelse, og i beskrivelsen stod at børn var gratis, men det betød at vi manglede en opredning, da vi blev oplyst at børn skal sove hos forældrene. Vi klarede den ekstra opredning, på en sofa på værelset med et medbragt tæppe og og en pude vi fik udleveret da vi spurgte.
Personalet i receptionen var søde og rare, men de var svære at kommunikere med, på andre sprog end tysk og lidt engelsk.
Vi spiste morgenmad på hotellet hver morgen, det kostede 8 euro pr person, og udvalget var fint men ikke luksus.

Det kunne først rettes dagen efter, og kun fordi vi var meget insisterende. Virkelig dårlig service.

使えると記載しながら。詐欺です。
●朝食あり（８€）と言いながら「キッチンクローズ」
●コップ一杯のお湯もいただけない。
（朝食時に）
●チェックアウト後の荷物預かり無し。
●飛行機が夜の便と伝えても「NO」の一点張り。
愛がない。
残念なホテルペンションです。

Ich weiß nicht wo ich Anfangen soll.
Zimmer -> Alles sehr alt und leider nicht wie in Buchung angegeben ein Klo auf dem Zimmer.
Zimmer stand mit 2 weiteren alten Holzbetten zugestellt.
TV defekt , in der Dusche lösten sich die Fliesen.Heizung ging auch nicht und das bei Minusgraden , besonders weil das auch sehr alte einfache Holzfenster sind
Matratze war gefühlt ne einfacher“ Feder die sich in den Rücken bohrte.
Personal moniert keine weiteren Zimmer zu haben deswegen bekam ich wohl dieses Katastrophenzimmer,
Ich bin nachts um halb 2 gegangen und habe mir Notfall technisch ein anderes Hotel geholt und da geschlafen da es auch aufgrund einer Party direkt unter dem Zimmer nicht möglich war zu schlafen.! Pension oder Hotel ? Den Namen sollte man hier entziehen !!!
Geld werde ich zurück klagen wenn es sein muss !

La calefacción ni el agua caliente funcionaban, al momento de realizar el check in y el pago correspondiente nunca nos indicaron ese gran detalle. Sino al momento de enseñarnos la habitación ya cuando habíamos realizado el pago y desempatado recién nos indicaron que habían inconvenientes con la calefacción. La limpieza no era la correcta, las sábanas tenían manchas. En conclusión no recomendaría el lugar.

Le fait qu il n y ait pas de toilettes dans la chambre était une surprise pour moi en arrivant
Et pas d eau chaude dans la douche le 2 eme jour !!!
Petit déjeuner correcte mais obligation de le payer avant de le prendre alors que nous restions 2 nuits.
Et ma chambre qui donnait côté rue était très bruyante !

Das Hotel ist für einen kurzen Aufenthalt in Ordnug. Die Zimmer sind klein aber sauber. Man erreicht die S-Bahn zu Fuß in 3min und es gibt einen Edeka in unmittelbarer Nähe. Was mich gestört hat ist, dass es morgens unter der Woche immer sehr früh (6/7Uhr) ziemlich laut war. Außerdem lag die Matratze bei mir einfach auf einem Kastenförmigen Unterbau auf und durch meine Bewegungen ist sie verrutscht, was unangenehm und unbequem war und man hatte Sorge, dass man mit der Matratze vom Bett fällt.

Morgenmaden kostede 8 euro pr mand, hvilket er billigt, men desværre var det også elendigt

Sieht aus wie bei Tante Erna mit einem ganz eigenen Charme … aber alles ist sauber und ich habe super geschlafen. Jederzeit wieder, sehr zentral gelegen und Parkplätze lassen sich auch gut finden.

La estancia en general regular, pero el servicio de recepción marca horario hasta las 23:00 hrs, sin embargo se retiran antes y es complicado estar llamando para ser atendido sobre todo si tu número es extranjero. Tampoco es baggage friendly ya que se requieren subir muchos escalones y no hay elevador o rampas y al horario de check out tocan a tu puerta sin siquiera un minuto de tolerancia para desalojarte. También es habitación fría y no había calefacción disponible.

groß, günstig und zentral

Zentrale Lage, freundliches Personal, wir konnten mitten in der Nacht noch anreisen, Zimmer groß, Betten bequem und sehr ordentlich, Bad im Zimmer und perfekt sauber, Straße am Anfang etwas laut, im Rest der Nacht ruhig, Fenster gehen nicht alle auf - wir waren insgesamt sehr zufrieden!

Zentrales Hotel mit Altbaucharme

Mein Aufenthalt im Hotel Cortina war leider nur für eine Nacht. Ich wäre gerne länger geblieben, denn der freundliche Service, der Charme des Altbaus und das tolle Frühstück waren etwas ganz Besonderes.

Sauberes Zimmer, Zugang zum Internet wahr zum großen Teil nicht möglich bzw. wurde nach kurzer Zeit unterbrochen, sodass selbst das lesen von Emails nicht möglich war. Praktisch kein Wlan.
