Good location. Close to Zoological Garten train station. Good stuff service.
This is a hotel full of characters, our room was very clean. Bathroom was a bit small . No tea or coffee making facilities.

I would have given this hotel five stars, but the only reason I haven’t is that the furniture in the hotel room and decor were dated. Also, some of the furniture was a bit bashed and battered. In the ‘90s when the stuff was new it probably was absolutely great. Having said that though, the room was spotlessly clean, the bed and bedding very comfortable and the bathrooms also clean etc.
my room was also huge, it really made a difference spending time in a larger room, I enjoyed having a small armchair and table to sit at and also really appreciated the fridge.
The location was really faultless especially for the price!!! Great location.
I really enjoyed my stay, thank you.

Basic of basic accommodation

Very basic accommodation. If it's only a place to get washed, changed and to get a sleep then this place is fine.
No kettle, no phone but does have Wi-Fi throughout and a tv in the room.
The accommodation is situated at an excellent and handy location for transport near the zoo and Kaiser Wilhelm Church.

Hotel is great for the shops, Christmas markets and train station but it is quite dated. I asked for extra pillows but was told they had none. I asked when we checked in if we could have a late checkout and was told to ask again the day before we were due to leave but when I did this was informed it would cost 70 euros when the cost for a whole extra night was only 59 euros. I asked another staff member and paid 30 euros to extend checkout to 3pm which was a reasonable amount to pay.

Great location. Next to a Christmas Market. Very clean and great bathroom! Old building but inside was quite nice. Near a busy street so we heard sirens often but didn’t affect sleep. You do need to go up stairs just to get in. Then there’s a lift to take you to your floor. Great place and value!

Good value for money fespite its faults

Clean, reasonably priced, good (if slightly expensive @ e15) breafast in room with a view! (See photo.) But very poor lighting in my (single) room (except in the en suite) and no bedside table or lamp. There are several steps up before you reach the lift! Very quiet despite being on a very busy street.

Friendly staff, terrible beds, not full elevator

Likely the most uncomfortable bed I have ever tried to sleep on. You have to haul your luggage up 2-3 flights of stairs to get to the elevator. Not disabled or HC friendly. Staff will help if you go up and ask, but there is no way to get to front desk assisted. Staff was very friendly and helpful, the facility is just not designed for xomfort or ease of access.

The position, near the K'damm, is good. From the airport (BER) there is an easy journey on the S-bahn to Zoogarten (taking just under an hour, a train every 20 minutes) then a 4-minute walk to the hotel. The K'damm is excellent for restaurants and shopping.

The hotel is run-down and needs a face-lift. My initial room had only two ceiling lights, badly positioned and one not working. The telephone also was defective. Happily I was able to move to a better room from day 2. Those who find stairs hard to negotiate should go elsewhere. Cleanliness is satisfactory.

The only food served is breakfast. The cooked element is scrambled egg and sausages. This gets boring. But there is a passable cold selection.

The reception staff are helpful and speak good English.

Pay a bit more and find something better!

Climb up 8 steps to the outside heavy doors, struggle to open it and climb another 12 steps then 4 more up to the Lobby area. Stair carpets worn and 'duct taped'. Handrail on the stair non-existant. Room door lock was old fashioned key lock and difficult to open. Room was full of old 'brown' furniture. No A/C in the room. TV system was advertised as 'satellite' but many of the channels 'No connection' and all were German. Parking status should read as NONE. (2 days of parking around the block cost $80).

We were able to book in early, because the room was available. The room we had was large. The decor is old, but that didn't bother us. The location is good. Getting to reception with heavy bags is not easy because of of the steep entrance steps

It was bad joke, not hotel room

Room 422. Single bed.
The room is depressing: very poor and insufficient lighting. 2/3 of the room is in the dark. Especially since I was there in November.
Crooked and worn mattress - kept sliding to the floor.
Courtains, carpet and furniture - old and in need of replacement.
Only bathroom was bright and very clean.
In general - it was bad joke, not hotel room for guests.

Good location - but in serious need of an upgrade

Great location - 5 mins from Zoo Station, and the heart of the West End shopping/restaurant area. Staff very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was good. And if you had a room at the back overlooking the yard, it was very quiet.

But... a lot of steps. It's a very higgledy-piggledy layout and sorely in need of a complete overhaul. Old curtains, old carpet, old furniture. Room was very dark - the lights weren't very good. And the internet was dreadful.

Close to the Zoo and good room

Very good hotel. I stayed only one night, but it was a good experience: clean (and disinfected due to corona situation) room, comfortable bed, quick check in and english speaker staff. It is very close to the Zoo, so if you plan to go the zoo in the morning, it is a good choice.

Good value at great location, at a very central location near zoo station, yet quite if you pick a room not facing the street. Stairway to climb from entrance to reception on first floor, then there is a lift. High ceilings and classic furniture, but also dusty surfaces and worn carpets. Clearly needs renovation.

Have stayed at a couple of Azimut hotels, one was brilliant, one was good, but this was very poor.

It's an old style hotel, but was very worn and uncomfortable, cleanliness not up to standard.

Only positive point is that it is close to Zoo station.

I would imagine a room on front would be very noisy.

Staff were Ok but not overly welcoming. Decorative order was extremely tired. Mouldy bathroom tiles, stained bedding, stained carpet. Really disappointed as we had hoped for better but both rooms very similar. No aircon so very hot. Told us breakfast not included in our rate and we only discovered on last day that it should have been included. So we had paid 40 euro for breakfast nearby unnecessarily. It is however a great location near the zoo and zu’dam with great transport links and plenty of restaurants nearby

Nostalgic hotel stay

It’s a very nostalgic hotel but the
hotel front is not very visible... easily missed... and you have to carry your luggage up a flight of stairs before you can get to the hotel reception! Not pretty if you have a heavy one or with kids and after a long flight and struggles at the airport ! NO AIRCON NOT EVEN FAN!!! My Gosh!!!! At least have a Fan.... summer afternoon heat is totally unbearable so you can only have the windows open which didn’t seem to help much, evenings are much better though...,
room condition is a bit rundown but considerably clean and all basic amenities are there.. No water kettle, maybe it’s standard for all budget hotels
But I must say location is pretty convenient to many major malls and there’s a convenience shop just downstairs
Staff are ok... not warm nor very helpful.... just doing their job
Overall only good for short-term stay. Glad I’m only booked for a night

The hotel is in a great location right next to Berlin Zoo and Ku'damm, the rooms are fantastic for the price and very comfortable. The only issue is that the hotel itself is only accessed by climbing a flight of stairs, which is not great for disabled people or people with heavy suitcases

Conveniently located close to Zoologischer Garten and bus station (400m), but on a noisy, busy road (especially if you're on the front of the building), grubby looking entrance with frayed, stained carpets and people sitting on the steps drinking. Reception and bar are have little to offer except a drinks machine (not too expensive). Rooms basic but comfortable beds, grubby carpet and curtains.
Would not stay here again.

Hotel is perfectly located close to zoo and close to metro lines, trains, busses. Our room was on the 4th floor, it was quiet and clean. Hotel could use an update, everything is bit worn but other than that it was a nice stay at Azimut Berlin.

Location is very convenient, staff were friendly and the hotel has a beautiful staircase.

The rooms however were dirty, outdated and cramped. There was no air-con or even a fan, so in the height of German summer the only way to keep the room bearable was open the windows, but unfortunately the hotel is above a shop that plays music from an external speaker 18 hours a day.

The \"free\" internet was appalling. It has a tiny daily data cap, and runs obscenely slowly. It was impossible to even send emails.

Our room was twin room and bed was uncomfortable. They have no air conditioning system so we had to open our windows and the hotel was right next to the road so it was realllly noisy.
Wifi has 600mb limitations which was really annoying matter you should pay 7euros for using wifi unlimitedly for one day.
Hotel staffs at the lobby were so nice and kind. That's the best thing of this hotel to us.

Very old hotel

The hotel was really old with renovated bathrooms but all the furnitures were for maybe 30 years ago! There was no elevator from the entrace to the reception area. No refrigerators in the room.
I would recommend this hotel only if you don't have high expectations and looking for a cheap option with convenient location. But with a little higher price you can probably get a much better room within the central station area.

big nice comfy hotel

the hotel is huge and like a maze...two different lifts and plenty different corridors...its easy to navigate, comparing to others. beautiful old building but nice rooms...was asked whether wanted street or courtyard...was pretty happy to have a choice after loud night i had the night before. close to a lot of things, nicely situated...bathroom on the small and narrow side but i guess each room is different. staff I met were great. Wifi is free for a certain amount of downloading speed for every 24h, its not illimited, like others...and doesnt always work right...other then that i enjoyed my stay.

Pleasant hotel in a good, central location. Our room was very spacious but in need of refurbishment. It didn't resemble any of the photographs. There was no refrigerator, in spite of the room description stating each room had one. There was a cupboard where it had formerly been housed, but had been removed. The room was very noisy - on a main corridor where the world and his dog passed by, and the noise carried. As a result, sleep quality was not good.

Nice location, cheap and cheerful.

For the money I paid, I was happy with the hotel. It's basic but certainly adequate. Nice location, nice breakfast. The one thing I was annoyed about was the fact that we were unable to get into the hotel at certain times due to a state visit. Although the staff did their best to help, it would of been nice to have been notified of this.

Was expecting a Superior Double Room... Hahaha!!!

Room was very basic, no in room ironing facilities, no air con, very small room. Complained at reception but was told that 'because the room had a safe and a mini bar, under German regulations, then this was classed as a Superior Double Room'. Terrible!!

Staff were excellent.

My fiancee and I stayed at the hotel last week. Unfortunately, on the second night my partner broke her leg. The hotel staff were excellent in assisting us throughout this time. They even helped to carry my fiancee to our room, arranged the ambulance, and were excellent throughout. As we had to cut short our stay, they arranged a voucher for us to visit again. Superb staff. Especially, Ibrahim and Cold. Thank you.

This is a decent place, but spend the 10 Euro extra to get the comfort room. The economy room is very, very small - not worth the price compared to other hotel rooms in the area. But the room for 10 Euro more makes a big difference.

If you can take in to consideration the location of the hotel and the cost, I can't imagine a better hotel in Berlin. It is a stones throw from two different U-Bahn stations, right by Berlin Zoo and all the shops and restaurants you would need! From the stations you can get to any of the main monuments of Berlin within 30 minutes! Friendly staff, free Wi-Fi and room is cleaned every single day, even bank holidays!

I very much liked it!

I would be more than happy to stay at this hotel again. The location in the heart of Berlin's west end is unbeatable as I think everyone agrees. Some people have been critical about the traffic noise, but it didn't bother me personally and let's face it: Berlin is a big 24/7 city with lots of life so a certain amount of noise comes with that anywhere in the world. If you want to visit a quiet, dead place then fine, try North Korea.
Some others remarked about dirty carpets, but these are only around the entry points and with guests trooping in and out around the clock, it's impossible to keep them clean in this city centre location. Get a few meters inside the building, however, and everything is spotless; it's like a palace. Some awkward people you can never please no matter how hard you try they'll find fault with something - ANYthing - that most others wouldn't even notice!

I last stayed at Azimut three years ago, and the staff is nice (still is) and the rooms were run down.
Three years later, the staff is still nice, and the rooms are more run down, plus more costly.....
Will try harder to avoid next time I return to Berlin.

Location is good and although I went during the IFA I stayed in a double bed which was literally a double bed. I upgraded to a decent room but even then they didn't have a double bed and my girlfriend and I slept on the same bed with the horrible line in the middle.

Central located hotel that works fine if you don't need internet connection and don't really care about the quality of your breakfast.

It seems the hotel has a very bad internet connection. Most web pages just timed out even though the WiFi connection was perfect. I also tested the public computer at the bar which had similar problems.

The breakfast was boring but eatable. I went to a nearby McDonalds for better coffee and working internet afterwards.

Not one I would recommend

The hotel was dirty, scruffy and run down. The room was unbearably hot making it impossible to sleep. This hotel is right in the centre of Berlin just off the Kurfurstendam. It's an excellent position which is why I choose it but, this also means that it is not possible to sleep with the windows open due to the noise of 24 hour traffic. The hotel has obviously not taken this into consideration. There is no air conditioning and not so much as a fan on the room. It was an uncomfortable, exhausting and stressful stay.

The perfect place in Berlin

Stayed 5 nights during the middle of June 2015. Room faced the quiet court yard. Hotel staff always helpful. WiFi worked fabulous. Easy walk to Zoologischer Garten for public transportation using U-Bahn, S-Bahn, busses and trains. Kurfuerstendamm right around the corner.

My flight brought me to Berlin hours before I could check in, but the main desk let me check in my luggage as I killed time around the city. The hotel is very centrally located, near transportation (bus and train less than 5 minutes walking), shopping, historical landmarks, and everything else you could want within walking distance. Room was nice but the bed mattress was very thin and I could feel every spring in it (didn't complain about it, just a minor personal discomfort). Staff was very polite and spoke really good English. Wifi was free and had a strong signal throughout the building and even a pretty good distance down the street (some \"free wifi\" hotels offer the bare minimum with a signal that barely counts as a connection)

Convenient location with excellent access to public transit, this modest hotel has friendly staff who were happy to suggest various restaurants in the vicinity. WiFi access was somewhat spotty, and staff were unable to print a boarding pass when the complementary computer failed to upen Pdf files from airlines.

Hotel was conveiently located for shops and transport links. Able to soak up the sounds of Berlin from small balcony. Bar simple and efficient. Internal decorations are fantastically fullof character.

Price as part of the deal was very good.

Good place to stay in Berlin.

Nice hotel in city center

We enjoyed our stay in Berlin. It's an old hotel but is kept very clean. Beds were comfy, room and bathroom were both reasonable sizes, and staff was very helpful and friendly.

This hotel is like a backpackers hostel.

Don't do it. Hotel is poorly run, beds uncomfortable and dirty. It is awful. Only redeeming factor is the location.

Good Poistion but hotel needs to be refurbished

The Position of the hotel is excellent
just a few minutes from the Zoo Station and stores with plenty of restruararants near , the hotel its self really needs to be refurbished even as you go in the entrance the carpet is wearing out and as you walk through it is the same , while my room was clean again it looked as if it needed to be refurbished the lighting was very poor and on the inside of the door pieces of wood had come off overall the hotel position was excellent but there are other hotels that I have stayed in Berlin that for Value are better
